Cheeses range from tubs of mozzarella to more sealed cheddar. On the shelves are pickles, maple syrup, seeds, and flowers. Everything is of course priced, and you can write down your purchased items to figure out your balance. The setup featured several food trucks including The Cod Father, Hindsight BBQ, Litchfield Distillery, and an ice cream truck. We ordered from The Cod Father and were thoroughly impressed. The lobster roll was packed with large chunks of perfectly cooked lobster claw meat on a warm, buttery roll, absolutely delicious. The fish and chips were fresh, generously portioned, and crispy. Prices were reasonable, and the service was quick and friendly. Such a great evening spot with quality food and a relaxed vibe! We will be back!

The trucks when we arrived were selling fish 'n chips, BBQ, lobster rolls ($34) and a few other items like hot dogs and chowder (New England, not clam). We sampled the fish 'n chips and weren't blown away; good but almost as if the cooking oil wasn't at a high enough temperature. Same for the fries. About time for a re-review…read more... Oh Averill Farm... How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. - The farm is family run and truly feels like it. The folks who work there are SO nice and helpful and friendly and kind. There are kiddos and farm pups running around, kind signs offering water for those who need it (in stark contrast to a certain corporate orchard we despise, which does not provide drinking water to patrons and does not allow patrons to bring water in, even for dogs). Averill is the kind of simply humane, thoughtful place that brings joy to my heart. - The farm is beautiful. So beautiful. On a coolish autumn morning, it's uncrowded and you can gaze out into the distance to see tractors mowing in distant fields, outlined against a periwinkle sky, rows and rows of neat trees, all impeccably well kept. Adjacent to the farm market, there's a big, wide field with a generous number of picnic tables placed all around, far enough from one another that you can pretend like you have the field all to yourself. - Farm produce and products are pure goodness. Apples and pears are magnificent, of course: juicy, healthy, not doused with pesticides. Cider donuts are freshly fried, well blotted, and not overly sweet. An apple crumb pie, redolent with butter and still warm at purchase, was world class, not overly sweet. Pear and apple cider are the embodiment of clean, adulterated fruit flavor. It's food I feel good about feeding to my kiddos. - The bathroom is a port-a-potty situation, but the one I used was pretty clean. There are four behind the farm store. - Pricing is fair. - Fellow patrons are civilized and respectful, which makes me so happy. Policies are generous, rules are reasonable -- and as a result, patrons don't feel like they have to claw back something from the business to even out the playing field. At some large, commercial places, you see some patrons pull apple after apple off of trees, take one bite, and then throw them down into the grass to rot (so they feel like their insanely high cost of entry is justified, I speculate). Averill owners and Averill patrons are respectful of one another, making for a truly pleasant visit. If you enjoy a bucolic, relaxing and beautiful apple picking (without the gaudy carnivalesque elements offered by some larger establishments), Averill Farm is an absolute must.

I had been instructed to meet friends for an event BUT they must have had too good of a night the night/morning before and never woke up. SO, what was I to do? Shop! I pulled into TFF at around 8am and was curious as to what time they opened. The owner? told me.."If you're here...we're open! Start shopping!"...awesome! The reason why I REALLY LOVE this place...their assortment of heirloom tomatoes. Now, I'm one to be obsessed with 'Tomatomania" and if you don't know what that is then you better ask somebody! Long story short, tomato mania...Morris CT... 150 varities of heirlooms...at 4.50 a pop! TFF...$2.00...yes, you heard that right...same stuff..smaller variety...$2.00. Although the variety was slim, they still had every one I needed and the owner? told me straight up that he beefed up his stock to compete with Tomatomania. So...what's not to love? Instead of driving 30 minutes, I drive 10. Instead of paying $4.50..I pay 2....it's a win win. (oh! and they have other cool varities of veggies as well...i.e...purple bell peppers!)

We found it right on the Village Green where the annual Apple Festival starts. Parking was a non-factor, there were spots all over the immediate area and we snagged a prime spot on the corner of Main and Center Streets. Today was the first day they were open for the season, and the market was full of vendors, and everything seemed to be running like a well-oiled machine. We arrived shortly after the 3:00 opening and everything was already fully stocked and set up. The market was perfectly sized. Not too small, not overpoweringly huge, just about perfect. A leisurely stroll through the booths and stands will take around 30-40 minutes, I loved how the booths were adequately spaced apart so there were no logjams or crowds. The only real crowd we encountered was at Wave Hill Breads with a ten-person deep line of drooling customers. We finished our visit with some Wave Hill purchases. Some of the main categories of vendors included fruits, vegetables, pastries, breads, sauces, salsas, jerkies, guacamole, pizzas for one, soaps, flowers, crafts, straw baskets, honeys and syrups. All of those were enjoyed among a backdrop of live music. We picked up a container of great guacamole from Pop's Famous Guacamole, a wonderful jar of salsa from Angela's Kitchen, two adorable "Eight Ball" squashes from one of the produce vendors, and a bag full of goodness from Wave Hill Breads. Our Wave Hill Haul included a delicious eight-inch cheese pizza, a hunk of Three Cheese Monkey bread, and a beautiful Vanilla Citrus Scone. The vendors were all super friendly and chatty, and the whole afternoon had a very nice community/neighbor-like vibe. We loved every aspect of our visit to the Southington Farmer's Market. PRO TIP The Farmer's Market is scheduled for Fridays from 3-6PM at the Southington Town Green, beginning on Friday, June 20th, and ending on September 26th.
