JK Bakery is a nice little cafe located in Canmore. We stayed at a hotel in Canmore where I have no status (free breakfast), forcing me to go and and explore breakfast restaurants. They are located in downtown Canmore in the same plaza as the ramen place. Only one other customer was in there when I arrived at about 8:30 AM. This bakery had everything including breads, Danishes, pies, and sausage rolls. I ended up buying a danish a small pot pie for breakfast. The danish was good. The pie was okay. They are a good little place. I think I'd stick with danishes and other baked good. No pie for me if I go back. read more

Nice cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. Artisan breads looked good. We ordered the turkey melt panini, a chocolate chip cookie and a lemon coconut bar. The turkey melt was meh. Nothing special or particularly tasty. They had a premade sandwich wrapped in plastic that they unwrapped and put in the panini maker-- lettuce included-- does anyone eat warm lettuce?-- and it was pretty bland. The chocolate chip cookie was a disappointment, which was a surprise. Not very sweet. Not much chocolate. The lemon coconut bar was delicious! 10/10! read more

Stopped by this bakery shop before picking up coffee from next door. Absolutely loved the two pieces of bread I got. First, the pretzel is amazing! It is soft and chewy, and not overly salty! I often stay away from pretzel because it can be too salty, but this one is not! Plus, it is not oily either! It got a great cracker-like flavor, the alkaline taste is very subtle. The other thing that I got is the multigrain Kaiser rolls. Very affordable and tasty. I love plain wheat bread, so this is definitely my favorite. It has a nutty flavor and soft texture; a great combination with some black coffee. There are other selections in store, both sweet and savory ones. They also make fresh and warm sandwiches, and coffee. So it is a great place to stop by for breakfast or brunch. The store is cozy and simple. Service is just alright, but I still recommend on trying their menu. read more

Stopped in a couple of times during out visit to Canmore. Wonderful array of bakery items to tempt you. Rolls, pies, cakes, breads, buns, teas, coffees, sandwiches, quiches, and more! On one visit I got the Turkey Melt Panini and my wife got the half soup and sandwich. The Panini was good, with lots of gooey cheese and a decent helping of meat. My wife's egg salad sandwich was also tasty, and the beef and barley soup was good as well. You order at the counter and await them calling out your order, but listen carefully as it's bustling in there and can be hard to hear. You also bus your own table. There is self-service water in the back corner and a bathroom that was pretty busy both times we were there. We sampled a number of the bakery items, and the cookies are definitely recommended, and the pastries were also very tasty. One person in our party had the quiche and said it was very good. They appear to sell out of a lot of breads on the weekends, and some of the other items were dissapearing quickly as well. There is certainly something here to satisfy any sweet tooth! read more

We got an apple pie and it had a very strong lemon/ sour flavour, not sure why. Not my type of thing. Also, we followed their instructions to bake it from frozen and it took 30min more than instructed (1.5 hrs total). We also got a chocolate Poppy seed loaf, it was good but on the dry side. read more

After reading about Canmore, we decided to stop by and walk around while on our way from Calgary to Banff. What a delightful downtown area. We were getting a little peckish at midday so we decided to stop in and get a quiche and lemonade drink. If we hadn't already had a filling breakfast, we would have probably ordered more to eat. The staff were very friendly and we took our food and drink outside since the weather was nice. We would definitely stop by again. read more

Poor service. Brown hair girl with braided hair who was making our toast was annoyed because we changed it from To Stay, to To Go. Took her sweet time putting bread in the toaster. When it popped out she walked to the front and started talking to some other customer. The other worker had to finish our order. This place is the real hidden gem. We are so glad we found this place. We only stayed near Banff a few days but found time to come here two days in a row. I wish they had a location in Denver and I'd be there most days. Pastries - AMAZING. Coffee - excellent. I've got nothing bad to say. The line can get backed up due to their small location and amazing service but it's worth every penny and every bite. What a small business. Popular bakery. Great coffee. A wide selection of baked goods. They even have sandwiches. We didn't like the chocolate chip and the ginger cookie as they seemed too dry and crumbly. But the muesli health fruit cookie and the other fruit cake style cookie were excellent. This is a tempting place. read more

Yum & Tasty! I am not sure how long this place has existed but a great random find we stumbled upon when looking for a quick bite to eat. We ordered the full sandwich and soup combo for lunch. I will say I wish the soup was more thick or had more meat in it because it was a bit light specifically on the meat side and very watered down. The sandwich on the other hand was nothing like I had before, they used a curry chicken as the meat and it was amazing. I now want to have it with all my sandwiches! The place had a lot of foot traffic but it was worth the wait ordering a hand made meal, made to order! They had a lot of danishes around but none of them looked very appealing. Great find! Bakery/Cafe with great lunch options as well as baked goods for the road. I was AMAZE by the prices - extremely reasonable especially for a resort town! Service was excellent! There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy your food. Very busy, but they seem to keep the line and good moving! Lunch - we had the Soup and Bun special with 3 soups to select from. $5.50 each (CA $)! Chili and Yam/Squash were are selections. Both excellent! We didn't try a sandwich but based on other tables, looked very large and delicious. Breads fresh baked. Items to go - so much to choose from! I chose blueberry scones, blueberry pie and a special slice of strawberry rhubarb cake! We are staying in Banff so not sure we'll make it back again to Canmore, but if we do, I know where we are stopping. read more

Both locations are very good. Food is delicious...a lot homemade and staff are always friendly and helpful to me. Love their bread and pick some up every time I am in Canmore. I like their coffee and desserts. Their Tourtiere pie is amazing. I never feel rushed and the atmosphere in both restaurants is laid back and relaxing. Soups are homemade and always delicious. I like the fact you can customize your sandwich to exactly what you like. Much more personal and treats your palette to a sandwich you will enjoy. Tip though if you want to try the soup. Get there early because the noon hour lunch rush can cause them to run out. Hope you'll try them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place was recommended to us as we drove from Jasper to Calgary. Nicely appointed, and the staff was very friendly. We found some great cookies, health and energy they were called. The rhubarb cake was wonderful. My problem with this place is at the Wi-Fi I was told is strictly for staff nothing for guests. We then picked up a pie to go, thinking that would be a good thing from a bakery, and sadly it was not. We were asked to bring dessert to a dinner party, and it was an embarrassment. It tasted like nothing more than something from Safeway, and clearly they used canned pie filling. Crust was thin and dry. For a bakery this was disappointing. read more

This is a real deal bakery - white dinner rolls and all. We dropped in a few times during our staff to pick up fresh bread AND have it sliced thick - this might not be a big deal but most shops can only slice the regular width. I enjoyed the Norwegian the most for toasting back at the house with a blob of butter and homemade raspberry jam. The cinnamon buns are large, flavourful and real nice with a fresh black coffee. The variety is vast and this will be a regular stop going forward. Parking is decent and location is easily accessed from the main road. read more
