She took the drink ticket and placed it on the metal stick where the finished drink tickets go. She then continued to talk to her coworker. No name was called out and I waited a few minutes until I had to go up myself and look at the drink ticket pile to see if it was my drink. The pastries are delicious and the tea is yummy- everything is a bit overpriced as you would expect in a hotel. I did like the options of juices and kombucha, the food options sell out pretty quickly so I didn't get to try much. They do have soggy biscuits as well!! read more

I loved STOCK food & drink. After a friend suggested eating at Fairmont for brunch I gave it a try. Such a great restaurant inside the Fairmont Banff Springs. Their sandwiches were delicious and dessert even more so. Also, they have a selection of quality hot drinks. Service was friendly and amazing. Moreover, they serve alcoholic beverages. I purchased a bottle of Rundle Gin on my way out as a souvenir. Fairmont Banff Springs partnered up with Wild Life Distillery to create this unique bottle and the colour of of the drink is purple when held to the light. After brunch you can even go for a stroll through one of Canada's earliest grand railway hotels. The original open date was 1888 which you will see lots of paintings on the wall that represent the year. You definitely have to visit Fairmont Banff Springs ! Stopped at STOCK Food & Drink located on the first floor of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel one morning for a coffee and quick bite to eat before a day of adventure. I ordered a pricey breakfast sandwich and latte...both were pretty good. The breakfast sandwich came with a fried egg which ended up being a bit messier than I would have liked due to the runny yolk! The cafe has a number of small tables so don't plan on going with a large group. It is more of a cafe style place, not so much a sit down restaurant. Absolutely stunning STUNNING mushroom soup ! Great Vegan lunch sandwich. There are two on their feature menu. I love the beet/roasted squash/ arugula and walnut spread one (the sourdough one). Everything is made fresh to order. Their mushroom breakfast sandwich was also superb. It's so great that the cafe has these options, as the fairmont room service only has the kids Mac and cheese as a veggie option with no vegan option to speak of. Hubby and I were looking for someplace to have lunch after checking in at the Fairmont and came across Stock. It is a small restaurant that offers limited options for breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and soup for lunch, limited dinner bowl choices, and crudités and dip late night options. They also offer beautiful desserts, coffee, and some alcoholic beverages. The seating area is cozy. There are some oversized wall games such as tic tac toe and scrabble. We ordered a Korean fried chicken sandwich and vegetable grain soup. The soup was tasty but not served hot enough temperature-wise for my liking. The Korean chicken sandwich had a mild spicy sauce and some lettuce and radish. The chicken was not overly greasy and made fresh upon order. Stock grows their own micro greens and herbs, which are used to garnish their food. They also feature local products such as teas, snacks and chocolates, as well as grow your own herb and seed kIts. Stock is one of the more reasonably priced places at the Fairmont to grab a quick drink or bite to eat. I would have loved to try their coffee and their avocado toast! Alas this may have to wait until my next visit to Banff. read more

Located next to the lobby of the Fairmont Banff Springs, Stock Food & Drink offers quality food in a casual dining environment. It's a sharp contrast from the upscale restaurants located in the hotel, but a nice break. Not only do they provide coffee and espresso, they also have a variety of desserts, sandwiches, and salads to order. I'd honestly be willing to come here just to try the desserts they have - their raspberry pistachio cake was one of the best cakes I've had! Probably my favorite from the ones I tried. So moist with a creamy texture from the pistachio and raspberry ganache. It had just the right amount of sweetness too, and it didn't distract from the flavors of the pistachio and raspberry. I never really think of pistachios and berries... but this was a great combination. My folks also had the berry creme brulee tart and the pistachio cherry tart. Both were good, albeit a little difficult to break into with a fork. The creme brulee tart actually has a nice caramel flavor on the top, and the whipped cream goes perfectly with the berries. The pistachio cherry tart was more like a dark chocolate brownie filled with the pistachios and cherries, but it was good nonetheless. Still, the raspberry pistachio cake left a lasting impression. After 5 pm they offer a "weekly feature" - basically the dinner special of the week, served after 5 pm. The week I went it was a coconut shrimp curry set for $18 CAD. It included a side of steamed broccolini, a bowl of rice, grilled naan, and some picked vegetables. IT WAS INCREDIBLY GOOD! I've gone to a variety of places to have coconut curry... but this was definitely up there in terms of flavor. The curry itself had great spices and a really addicting kick. It was also savory, so you craved more of it. I definitely wiped the bowl clean with grilled naan (the naan was tasty on its own). To my surprise, the curry came with 5 pieces of shrimp, which I thought was generous for the small bowl of curry. The broccoli and pickled vegetables provided some nice contrast to the tasty curry and actually went really well. This was definitely a meal set worth the quality of a hotel like the Fairmont. and I did not at all feel ripped off paying $18 CAD for the quality. The cafe itself offers an inviting space. The seating area is very open and modern - wooden tables and benches with the utensils and napkins already available. The high tables have their own study lamp and there's even a wall of mini greenhouse cubes. As far as drinks go... their espresso is just "OK" - better than Starbucks, but certainly not the same quality as those coffee shops you'd find in Downtown Banff. For a cafe, it's pricey - avocado toast is $11 CADand my slices of cake were $6.50 CAD. Still, it's amazing how you can get quality food in such a low-key atmosphere, hence the high stars. read more

We got the avocado toast with egg, lots of avocado and perfectly cooked egg- huge, thick fresh bread/toast! I actually never seen a toast this thick and still very yummy! Wanted to come visit the Fairmont in Banff to see what the hype was all about and set to have breakfast here as well. If you aren't staying here, parking is $10 bucks an hour in their garage FYI. It's more of a cafe with seating to the side and the food is actually pretty good. You can tell they make their goods from scratch and it's not as crazy priced as you'd expect here. It's not cheap either but as long as the food is good, that's usually what matters most. Decision making based on food is how I roll! We ordered the Back Bacon (essentially ham) and Fried Egg sandwiches w/ cheese, Homemade Focaccia, Fruit Salad and Tea/Coffee. Came out somewhere around $50 CAD so not too crazy. Def worth coming to eat at since there aren't too many breakfast places in Banff and you get to see some nice architecture at the same time. read more

Stock Food & Drink is a super casual cafe type of place to grab a snack, drink or meal... It's located in the lobby of the Fairmont Banff Springs, and offers a wide selection no matter what time of day you stop by or what you're craving may be. I stopped in for lunch recently and ordered the quiche of the day with a side Mediterranean Salad. Both were delicious and I ate every last bite. The ingredients appear to be high quality. Service is friendly and fast... I took my food to my room but noticed plenty of seating options. I may have to return again for a delicious looking pastry, coffee, or juice before I leave Banff. YUM. my husband and i come to the Fairmont every year and are really impressed with how delicious the breakfast at Stock is. We've tried almost everything and haven't had a bad meal yet. The Tagine is super flavorful and a big shareable portion, the back bacon sandwich is also very tasty and the mushroom toast hits the spot! And the desserts and pastries? Absolutely divine! The coffee drinks are also pretty tasty. So tasty we buy a bag of their coffee beans just to try and recreate them at home. We also really adore the style of the place. There are cute and reasonably priced gifts and a revolving display of local treats available. read more

They have a wide selection of generous size sandwiches - smoked montreal meats, chickpea curry, trio of dips, bread + butter spread, etc and a good variety of solid breakfast food - steel cut oats, tagine, avocado toast, BLTs, yogurt parfaits, granola, homemade scones, etc. They also have a good variety of coffee drinks. Recently we spent three days at a conference at the beautiful Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. It's befitting of its moniker "The Castle in the Rockies" - a truly splendid place to spend time. However, the conference was jam-packed with sessions and we had little time to take in any of the high-end dining options located in the hotel. However, we did frequent Stock, this informal eatery is located at the left-hand side of the lobby as you enter the hotel, and it's by far and away the best option at the hotel for convenience and price point. Food: Available dishes (there are separate options for breakfast and lunch/dinner) are listed on a price board behind the order station, and samples of dishes are tastefully displayed in a a glass case adjacent to the order station. Breakfast offerings included: oatmeal with walnuts and honey; lamb tagine with fried egg; soft boiled eggs with in-house baked bread; and outstanding breakfast sandwiches. Lunch/dinner offerings included: a variety of imaginative salads; delicious soups; really good sandwiches (vegetarian and meaty options) and more. They also serve really good coffee in a variety of styles, and some of the best, scratch-baked bread we've enjoyed in a good long while. You simply order your food and they bring the dish to your table (they are also well equipped to give you your food as take-out). We enjoyed an outstanding BLT for breakfast one morning. Jam-packed with fresh, crispy lettuce and a flavourful tomato, the highlights were the generous serving of perfectly cooked strip bacon and a truly delicious, toasted multi-grain bread. That same morning we also enjoyed a generous bowl of steel cut oatmeal, perfectly cooked and served with honey, walnuts and fresh, and roasted apple giving it a pie like taste - delicious. Our other breakfast consisted of the Lamb Tagine. This was a sublime serving of lamb sausage in a rich, perfectly seasoned sauce (this was authentic North African taste - no compromise for homogenized tourists' taste buds), roasted tomato, onion and pepper. All that was served with a perfectly cooked, over-easy egg on top and a side of their delicious bread. This protein-rich breakfast was delicious and kept us happily full right through to lunch! And speaking of lunch, we enjoyed a couple of great midday meals at Stock. Day one featured a vegetable curry soup: it boasted a rich and flavourful broth, lots of veggies and more of their amazing bread on the side. This filling soup and a delicious side salad kept us well fed until dinner. Day two was a sandwich day for us. We opted for a Porchetta sandwich and side salad, and a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich and a different side salad. We're huge fans of porchetta, and while this was tasty (it had great crackling) it was a little too fatty for our tastes. In fact some slices in the sandwich were literally just big chunks of pure, roasted fat - just a little too much. The Montreal Smoked Meat took us back (we love Montreal). We love Montreal smoked meat but haven't been in Montreal for too long so we miss it done well. This one came as near to an authentic Montreal smoked sandwich experience as any we've had in western Canada. The meat was rich and perfectly marbled, and was served with a great mustard. The only downside - the pickles served on the side would not pass muster at any deli in Montreal or New York. While reasonably tasty they were - in a word - flaccid. But that's a niggle - this was a great sammie! Atmosphere & staff: Very casual, yet attractively put together. Big shared tables with little tin buckets full of cutlery folded into good quality napkins, chargers easily available. A few more private tables scattered about Mostly a self serve sort of experience. You are expected to remove your dishes after your done, so the next people can seat themselves quickly. Staff does come around to collect, but when turnover is high, people do it themselves. read more

I was shocked how good the food was here. The pastries are light, buttery and flaky, the cakes are fantastic, and the sandwiches are filling. What really, really surprised me though is the customer service. I ate here 4 times. One time the food was taking a little longer that usual to come out. The manager came to our table and apologized for the delay and offered a pastry to us while we waited. I was stunned at this level of service. Things like this make a huge difference. I made a mistake the first day of getting a sandwich and bowl of soup. I am a hearty eater and was certain I would still be hungry at the end of the meal. I was wrong. I finished the bowl of soup, but the sandwich was deceptively large. I could only finish half, but I took the other half to the room for later. The rest of the meals we would split a sandwich and I would get a bowl of soup. I would leave full. We tried several cakes and pastries and agreed these are really a treat. One of the cakes was gluten and dairy free, I would have never known. it was delicious. I only wish there was a place near me that had desserts and pastries as wonderful as these are !!! If you are not staying at the Fairmont it is worth the walk from downtown to come here, just for the deserts and pastries alone. Walk up the hill from downtown and walk back. Although you won't burn off the calories of the food, it helps justify eating a dessert or pastry. read more

Porcheta Sandwich This sandwich was definitely memorable and tasty because my lady and I had it it back in September and again on this trip. Yummy. Leak & Spinach Quiche I had this for dinner. I love quiche and this one was tasty. What's nice too is that the meals of the day are displayed in the counter so you can see what you are ordering. Service was great too, considering you order from the counter and it's more of a quick restaurant kind of place. The cashier who we ordered from was helpful with explaining their menu and food. When we were seated and got our food, I was taking some pics of my good and one of the staff saw what I was doing and recommended tables that had good lighting. I'm a sucker for coffee/coffee inspired drinks so I had to stop in after my work conference and check it out. I got a vanilla frappe with almond milk (so happy they had non dairy options because a lot of places don't... they also had soy milk and oat milk available)! The frappe only comes in the larger size (which is fine because it was so good, but if it came in the smaller size I would have gotten that). The drink was pretty pricey, but I didn't expect it to be cheap being that it is a convenient location inside the hotel (right next to the lobby) and it's a vacation destination. The drink was very good and I would like to go back again to try more! Their pastries looked really good (mmm macaroons) and also had some sandwich/food options too! The food is mediocre at the best. I came here because It is conveniently located in the hotel. It was a big mistake. The service is terrible. I waited 20min for a bagel and a panini at the desk. When asked, the explanation is someone else took our order. There was no apology and no sympathy. The attitude is like "why didn't you guard your food". Everyone was apparently unhappy with me. They did use 10min to remake the food for me with a sad face. This is just so annoying to go to a fast food place and ended up waiting 30 minutes with an empty stomach and watch the bad temper service. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont, and ate at Stock one morning on our way out for a hike. I had the avocado toast, and haven't stopped thinking about it since. So much that it is December and I had the avocado toast in July, and still feel the need to pause what I'm doing and write a review. We ended up eating at Stock for the avocado toast every morning, and my husband who had ordered something different, switched to TWO avocado toasts every morning (they're huge by the way and could easily be split). Every time I eat an avocado toast and from here on out, I am ruined. Don't forget the egg on top. 10/10 recommend. That is all. read more

My family and I were staying at the Chateau and looking for a relatively cheap place to eat. This place was great! The food was amazing; I got the Baby Greens salad, and I am not usually a salad eater. My mom and dad got some Spinach dip with pita bread and it was spectacular; If you go I highly recommend it! At an event Friday for the Yelp winter break, I had the chance to try some of the amazing offerings stock has and I am so happy I was able to! They had 3 types of sandwiches (the vegetarian mushroom sandwich was my favourite) amazing salads and hot chocolate with house made marshmallows. The chef describing the dishes was so passionate and the fact that whenever they can, they make everything locally in house like their pickles and different cured meats. In the actual restaurant they make amazing coffees, and grow micro greens right where you can see them which is a cool add in!
