I booked Amber as my hair stylist for my wedding a few months back. She had recommended herself on a Facebook status I posted, which to me was a little shocking because she always seemed so busy. First few correspondence were quick and easy when booking, I was understanding that she took a little while to get back to me because she said she had disabled her messenger alerts since she was getting so many requests for hair appointments. I was able to schedule my trial appt for the day of my bridal shower and my mom had paid her up front that day for the day of the wedding since my trial was included. I also tipped her $25 that day and brought her wine and bows for her little girl because she had been going through a tough time in her personal life. I tried to follow up with her after my appointment to make sure we were squared away for the plan for the day of. My messages were not going through so I had to call the Salon and leave a message so she would get back to me. Still with no reply I reached out to her sister and mom (we grew up together, so I knew them, otherwise I wouldn't have messaged them), and they passed along my attempt to reach her. Amber messaged me back on Facebook with her cell phone # and I immediately sent her texts. None of which would go through. A few days later, I had messaged and reached out again and finally got a text message back from Amber saying her phone was on airplane mode for a few days and that's why she didn't get back to me. Okay, whatever. In the coming weeks i had reached out a few times and those too had gone unanswered but again, knowing she was having personal issues tying up her time I tried to be patient. Bottom line, my hair from my trial was pretty, but nothing at all like I had asked for so I decided I wanted to pay for a second trial because I didn't love the outcome of my first. I was about 2 weeks out from my wedding at this point and I had sent 8+ texts that went unanswered and I started to wonder if she had any intention of showing up at all. Everyday I saw her posting TikTok videos, pictures of her work on other clients, posts on Facebook, etc and I began to get frustrated. I tried texting messaging and posting on Facebook to no avail. I at this point began to scramble and reach out to other hairdressers as a backup because at this point, I needed one. My new hairdresser was also friends with her and messaged her to see if she could at least get a response, and magically she got one 3 minutes later... until the subject turned to me and then no more responses. Finally I had had enough and sent one finally text message and sent a Venmo reimbursement request telling her that I couldn't be patient anymore when she was being blatantly unprofessional and avoiding me when I had already paid, was understanding of all of her personal issue, but was less than 2 weeks out from my wedding and couldn't rely on her. I finally received a Venmo payment and a text message saying "I completely Understand, this is point blank unprofessional. I would have fired me too. Thank you for your patience through it all anyway. Happy wedding to you, I wish you all the best."
While I can appreciate that she didn't attempt to make an excuse for her actions, it would have been nice to know what I did or what caused her to leave me out to dry the way she did. I'm not one to go out of my way to leave a bad review, and I will certainly give credit where credit is due, but I truly hope that no Bride (especially one already getting screwed by COVID) ever has to go through what I did so close to their big day. It was unneeded stress that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. read more
