Awesome local market with a very wide selection of all kinds of products. I came across a different brand of potato chip which I hadn't seen before called Hardbite and walked out with a bag of Black Truffle and a bag of Sweet Ghost Pepper. Pretty unique flavors that aren't that easy to find elsewhere. It's right next to Johnnie's Super, so you can park your car in either location and check out both stores at the same time. Pretty convenient! Honestly, almost everything in the town of Boulder Creek is all in that one clump. You could totally grab a drink at Wild Roots or Johnnie's and sip away while checking out antiques at Boulder Creek Antiques nearby. Wild Roots does seem to be a chain as I noticed another one in neighboring Felton. For me personally that's not an issue but if you're a stickler for "local" local then you might want to try other stores. read more

Extremely poor customer service by an older worker -- very rudely was told to leave almost yelled at. If I could give a negative review I would. Treating customers like this will not generate income and if the guy wasn't so aggressive and almost starting a fight I'd be reporting him to management. I definitely wouldn't come here again and absolutely shouldn't be worried about someone trying to start a fight while browsing in a grocery store. read more

I am so happy to have this place as one of our local markets. Excellent organic fruits and vegetables. And lots of other great stuff.! I buy almost all of my food there. And because I'm old, I get a 10% discount which helps me out every week. Very nice people work there and they're always very helpful to me when I need to find something. I've been going into Wild Roots, (formally "New Leaf) for 16 years. I went in there recently and what I was looking for was not on the shelf. I asked if there were anymore in back. The checker called back and a woman came out and said "If its not on the shelf, we are probably out" She made no effort, what so ever, to check. I've given up on Wild Roots and will shop an New Leaf in Felton and/or Ben Lomond Market. read more

I love this market, and it's my go-to stop for beverages and occasional sandwiches when out and about on my motorcycle near BC. I'm finally writing a review because I stopped there last week and I was starving. I walked to the back deli counter and checked out the menu on the wall of their specialty sandwiches. The Henry Cowell Club jumped out at me and it was perfect. I didn't need to change a thing, and I ordered one from the friendly young lady who helped me. After ordering, I walked up to the beverage case and grabbed something to drink, then returned to retrieve my order, which was damn near done and ready when I got back there. That was fast! (*they weren't busy) I thanked the sandwich master and went to the front to pay for my stuff. The cashier was equally friendly, as were the other customers. A woman was in front of me with a cart full of items and she allowed me to go ahead of her. Very kind. I paid. I thanked. I departed for the coast where I was going to eat this masterpiece. When I got there and unwrapped the sandwich, all I could smell was bacon and fresh bread. It looked delicious, and it tasted even better. Fresh soft bread, thick bacon, tender turkey, crispy fresh produce, and just the right amount of everything. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich as I sat on the rocks overlooking Waddell Creek Beach. Looking forward to trying one of their other specialty sammies next time! Store is VERY clean and welcoming. The only thing I knock them for is the prices could be a bit lower. $10 for a sandwich is pretty steep, and it didn't have very much turkey in it for that price. Either lower the price, or add a couple more slices of meat. read more

A lovely week stocked natural grocery store - with friendly staff. I always look forward to popping into Wild Roots Market when I'm in the area. They have a solid selection of bulk items, decent produce, ready made food items like sushi etc, as well as some niche health-minded items. I also appreciate how they have a parking lot right next door - so it's relatively easy to pull in - and run in. We stopped in here this past weekend and we all found a wealth of magical purchases - ranging from organic spinach, guacamole, raw veggie rice wraps, natural gummies, macadamia milk, rosewater spray etc. Support local grocery gems like Wild Roots Market. I am a long time boulder creek resident'! Quiet despite family here since before the civil war! I am a CZU wildfire survivor plus100% disabled, incontinent and in constant pain! Management at wild roots denied me access to restroom despite knowledge of my medical problems..... I tried to make it to the gas station porta poty. But was unable resulting in me urinating on the side of wild roots building in desperation..... the self proclaimed manager of this store after denying my restroom access tried to publicly shame me for urinating on her building for my incontinence after denying my restroom access She went so far as to employ her co workers to harass me as I just tried to mind my own business, following me around filming me.... This is unacceptable behavior for a so called organic store! Displaying zero tolerance for a man completely disabled! read more

I love this Market. It's one of the very few locally owned markets in this area. New Leaf sold out and so did Whole Foods. They have a wonderful organic fruit/vegetable selection and the most varied selection of herbs/spices and bulk foods in the Santa Cruz area. Their sandwiches from the deli section are our favorite and we always buy their vegan potato salad because it's so delicious! I appreciate the huge variety of organic, vegan and gluten-free products. Wild Roots also has a good selection of essential oils, lotions, vitamins, shampoos, etc. And, I have found handy kitchen items and even gifts at this store. If you're looking for a fun place to shop for organic, fresh and healthy foods, stop by this market and enjoy. read more

I love this market! I could shop for hours! I stayed at an Air BnB home in Boulder Creek and fell in love with the town. This store has so many things that I do not see at home. Next time I come, I will make sure to allocate more time to shop this gem! read more

What can I say that hasn't already been mentioned? Make sure to always check for mold or things that are expired here! I have bought items here on numerous occasions that I've needed to return because they have been moldy and I only noticed once I opened at home. I know this so I generally go to the Felton one instead but on occasion I come here and pretty much regret it every time. This last time I came in I got harassed for needing a bag. Full on harassed by the cashier and the man in front of me who was leaving. They tried giving me a box and when I said no thank you and asked politely for a bag they dove into how irresponsible it was to get bags. I then felt the need to explain that I use them and I'm happy to pay and then the cashier looked at my purse which was sitting on the counter with the debit machine and began to grab it and saying it seemed like there was room in it for my groceries... Number 1. Don't ever grab a ladies purse Number 2. Don't get on my case for PURCHASING a paper bag from your establishment. I'd like to say I won't ever go back but I will because it's close to home. First of all they've got a great meat counter and wine section. Plus helpful people in their vitamins.However I'm tired of getting hassled by the "Karen's" and soy boys on their staff that make up a small but vocal number of their employees. I try to go to smaller stores like these whenever I can. It costs more but I like to support them. I'm done with Wild Roots because people putting up with pimpled soy boys and wild eyed Karen's attitudes defeats the whole point. I can everything I need either down the street or from Amazon for less money and equal or better quality, and w/o the tude. Sad to stop going after do many years. Adios muchachos. read more

My wife and I love coming to Wild Roots. We moved to the valley over a year ago and rely on Wild Roots for our healthy diet in the mountains. We've been big shoppers at Whole Foods for years. I don't know how they do it in such a small space, but wild Roots consistently has many of the items we love from Whole Foods. What a selection for so few square feet! Especially love the rotating selection of homemade soups. Finally, I love that we get to support a local business and move away from the big chain. read more

Cutest little grocery store in downtown Boulder Creek. It is the perfect stop for a snack on the way back from Big Basin. The store has a ton of organic and vegan goodies plus a nice selection of fresh sushi and sandwiches. The lines in the store move quickly and the cashiers were really friendly. I only took off a star because the store is pricey which is to be expected with a store like this. However, I am always happy to support small businesses. I would defiantly stop by again. read more
