A Year ago and a half ago I lost my sweet Elle' To liver disease. I still had her sister CoCo however after Elle past away CoCo was always so sad and seemed so lost. So I made the decision to start to look for another little sweetie to join our family and help bring my CoCo back to life. After searching and talking with so many breeders I found my sweet girl Sassy. Sassy is such a sweetheart and I felt she would be a perfect fit for our Family. So since I live in Maryland and and I personally don't believe in shipping a puppy, My Grandson & I went on a journey to New York to visit Emerald City Shih-Tzu's and a lady named Shelia. Shelia was very sweet and her puppies so well cared for. I fell in love with Sassy way before I ever got there however I also met another little tiny girl we named LuLu. Sassy and LuLu both came home with us and CoCo loves her little sisters and they love her. Prior to taking Sassy I explained to Shelia I just couldn't afford both girls even though I Truly wanted them both. Shelia was kind enough to cut me a I'm great deal and discounted the price so I could afford both my girls. We recently bought a shih tzu puppy from Emerald City . She is a sweet pretty little dog and we are enjoying her. She is healthy and growing. When we first took her for a vet check, she weighed 4.27 pounds, and now she is six pounds. She came to us paper trained and kennel trained. I recently purchased a Boston Terrier from her that she was selling for a friend who has supposedly been breeding Bostons for 30 years. Was never told her name or given the chance to talk to her. No health certificate given. When asked if there was one, she said "What do you mean?" She promised to give me the dog's "lineage" but that was never received either. Claims I never asked to see the parents when she didn't even have them on the premises! No AKC papers because, oh, you know... "you're only going to shove them in a drawer..." I have recently been in the market for purchasing a shih tzu and happened upon Emerald City Shih Tzus after seeing an ad for a litter of puppies in the Syracuse Classifieds. I contacted Sheila and she was very responsive with pictures and details about the puppies that were available. However, when I asked for additional pictures or to see the puppies before I put a deposit down she told me that it was not possible because the dogs were not located at her house. In a later conversation my mother had with Sheila she was told we would only be able to see the puppy on the day of pickup (Sunday 12/18). Sheila and I went back and forth through text message and phone call a few more times and I also had the opportunity to speak with her friend that was housing the puppies. Ultimately, my family decided to hold off on purchasing a puppy from Sheila because we were not comfortable putting a deposit down before we met the dog. When I explained this to Sheila via text message she replied with a very rude "thanks for wasting my time". I am very glad we chose not to purchase from Emerald City Shih Tzus even though the puppies were very cute, Shelia has no customer service skills. You would think a breeder of 26 years would be a little more compassionate toward her customers and understand that a puppy is a lifetime investment. read more

I would NEVER purchase an animal from these people. We wanted a new pug puppy, and I found their ad. We picked him up on Saturday and he got extremely sick that night- we took him to the emergency vet the next day and he tested positive for parvo and he had pneumonia. The poor thing lost weight just in the 24 hours that we had him and we had to put him down. It was devastating, especially since we lost our other pug just 4 weeks earlier. Now I keep seeing her ads in the local paper for more puppies. She should not be selling anything as parvo is very contagious among dogs. I hope they called all the people that adopted Riley's siblings. We have to do a very thorough cleaning and disinfecting before we can adopt another dog- there is no way she should be selling anything. If we go to a breeder again, we will be asking for vet records to ensure the dog is healthy. Luckily, we got our money back but it was a horrible experience. These people should be banned from selling any animals!!! read more
