Too unique and delicious to pass up!
    Scott P.

*********** The owner is a talented and courageous woman. Someday someone should document her life journey which features plenty of courage and success. "If you build it, they will come." Unlike some bakeries, who have a backstop of family and kickstarter money... The owner of Wilder Bake Shop did this all on her own. After a tragic accident took the life of her fiancé in the Chama area, she could've just turned around and headed back to the Pacific Northwest and started a new career in safe comfortable surroundings. Instead she took some of her experience from previous baking endeavors... and created Wilder. To suggest people come from "far and wide," just to sample her creations... would be an understatement. Frankly, every single time we visit Wilder, when the town hasn't shut its water off... or some other calamity keeps them from opening their doors... We run into people who have planned their Northern New Mexico journey around this bakery. I love the location near Chama... I really love Chama too. The winding road from the South leading to the town, and the proximity to Pagosa Springs and Durango... The access from Taos and Santa Fe is easy... There's a lot of reasons to plan some time in this area. But the "icing on the cake" literally is Wilder Bake Shop Hope you have a chance to find your way here... She/they deserve your business and your loyalty. Note: Please don't eat all the quiche, sure it's amazing, but pls save some for the rest of us! https://wilderbakeshop.com Instagram is worth viewing too ... Everything is homemade. Everything baked is unique and full with different flavors. Every time we go Chama we have to visit.

More delicious items this morning. This baker is the best! Incredible croissants! Everything done to perfection. Very nice barista man also! If you want really good baked items, this is your place. Great coffees too. My decaf almond milk latte is delicious!

If you're looking for a quick breakfast and coffee, this is the place to go. It's a clean, modern style bakery with southwestern touches. The service was great and so was the food!

    Delicious pastries!!

On a Sunday drive we have an across southern comfort, BBQ along Highway 84. It is next to creel…read moreCREEL lodge but apparently not part of it. The menu was simple with ribs, brisket pulled pork, and other expected barbecue specialties, and the usual sides - potato salad, mac & cheese etc. We opted for the two meat and two side plate, as well as the three taco special. The tacos were very delightful with brisket and pulled pork covered in a slaw and barbecue sauce. Very very tasty. The second dish was the two meat to side and we chose the brisket and pulled pork, the smoked mac & cheese and potato salad. The brisket had a nice smoke ring, and a wonderful flavor. The pulled pork with succulent and also had a wonderful smoky flavor. The barbecue sauce was served on the side so you're able to add as much as you want. The sauce was very good and complemented the meat well. The smoked mac & cheese was very tasty and had the right amount of cheese to bread, crumb, and pasta. It was not the traditional elbows, which was great. The potato salad was of the German variety which I like and was also very tasty. we finished off the meal with some waters and a Coke zero. This is a simple barbecue truck with a very nice owner. There is a picnic table beside the truck under a tree which made for a delightful treat. The owner was very nice and definitely knows how to cook a brisket. There are not a lot of options for restaurants in Chama these days and on a Sunday afternoon. This was a very welcome surprise.

Adorable (well, everything is adorable in Taos; it's the southwestern charm for sure!) but it's more than what its appearance says it all. You have to try their products and see for yourself. What I got me were a few bon bons and a chocolate torte (the whiskey kind). -Miso Caramel: is shaped like a mushroom. Even if you might not be a fan of miso based (everything), you should try these bon bons anyway as they don't taste like miso at all. I was quite shocked with this myself (well, I like miso soup; miso taste doesn't bother me at all. Even so, Miso chocolate candy was something I didn't know what to expect out of. That is why I am saying that I was surprised by it.) -New Mexico , Spicy: was also surprising. The kick in these tiny pieces was quite mighty and yet it was tolerable. -Whisky Torte: All sorts of organic ingredients are used to make these delightful tortes. Tortes tend to be a lot heavier than traditional cakes as their texture is that of fudge. And yet, that shouldn't be a reason for you to steer clear from it as this chocolatier perfected the torte in a way that it will not be too rich or heavy for your taste or stomach. At least that is what I thought when I tasted it. Another must-try item on their menu offerings. For its interior, it's mostly and simply grey on walls but this emits the "chicness" that doesn't overshadow the theme of its business. You should also pay attention to the ceilings and the floors. A careful attention to entertain the guests' eyes is seen throughout. Service was good. I first went here late in the afternoon (close to its closing time). I quickly glanced at each section of the store inside. The kind gentleman upfront wanted to assist me but after asking him if it was open tomorrow (it would be Sunday), he said yes to which I gave him my promise that I would be back tomorrow. The same man assisted me when I was back the very next day to make a purchase. Not sure if he remembered me or not. It's not chocolate bon bons or tortes you can enjoy at this store. The café offers tasting trios, mocha, chocolate mouse, ice cream, affogato, hot chocolate, and espresso and so on. This is a haven for chocolate fanatics.
