Too unique and delicious to pass up!
    Scott P.

*********** The owner is a talented and courageous woman. Someday someone should document her life journey which features plenty of courage and success. "If you build it, they will come." Unlike some bakeries, who have a backstop of family and kickstarter money... The owner of Wilder Bake Shop did this all on her own. After a tragic accident took the life of her fiancé in the Chama area, she could've just turned around and headed back to the Pacific Northwest and started a new career in safe comfortable surroundings. Instead she took some of her experience from previous baking endeavors... and created Wilder. To suggest people come from "far and wide," just to sample her creations... would be an understatement. Frankly, every single time we visit Wilder, when the town hasn't shut its water off... or some other calamity keeps them from opening their doors... We run into people who have planned their Northern New Mexico journey around this bakery. I love the location near Chama... I really love Chama too. The winding road from the South leading to the town, and the proximity to Pagosa Springs and Durango... The access from Taos and Santa Fe is easy... There's a lot of reasons to plan some time in this area. But the "icing on the cake" literally is Wilder Bake Shop Hope you have a chance to find your way here... She/they deserve your business and your loyalty. Note: Please don't eat all the quiche, sure it's amazing, but pls save some for the rest of us! https://wilderbakeshop.com Instagram is worth viewing too ... Website link above for your convenience ~ .....

Everything is homemade. Everything baked is unique and full with different flavors. Every time we go Chama we have to visit.

If you're looking for a quick breakfast and coffee, this is the place to go. It's a clean, modern style bakery with southwestern touches. The service was great and so was the food!

    Delicious pastries!!

We had such a great experience at San Luis Coffee Company!…read more My husband and I were passing through on a road trip from Costa Mesa, California and stopped in for breakfast after reading the reviews. I'm so glad we did! What we loved: * Friendly, welcoming owner and staff. * Excellent coffee. * Freshly made panini sandwiches. * Homemade pastries. * Clean restroom. * Fun local folk art throughout the café that gives the place such a great community vibe. What we ordered: * #1 Turkey Pesto Panini: Absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and made to order. It also came with a bag of chips and a large pickle, which was such a nice surprise. * Cherry turnover: Flaky, buttery, and filled with plenty of cherry filling. * Strawberry rhubarb pastry: Just as delicious. The perfect sweet treat with our coffee. I also wanted to mention that I respectfully disagree with the review that called this place "just okay." I've eaten at cafés all over the world, and this didn't feel or taste average to me at all. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and thoughtfully prepared. You can feel the love that goes into running this place. Whether you're a local or just passing through San Luis Obispo, I would absolutely recommend stopping here. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Not only do they brew some of the most delish coffee, but they also sell the beans. I judge coffee by the taste of a cup of ground black coffee, nothing else. This coffee is rich in flavor and has a smooth finish. It makes you want to enjoy the view outside while listening to your favorite musicians. This place also sells artwork by local artists which I love. You definitely want to get here early so you have time to try one of their fresh baked goods. They go fast so plan ahead. Oh, and the best thing is that when you get home to wherever home may be, you can contact them and order their coffee beans to be shipped to you. You will never meet sweeter people than the ones in this coffee shop

The sauteed mushrooms were also good. The service was at least as disappointing. They took our beer orders, but never served them. The restaurant was not super busy at the time, so there's no excuse. [Original 5-star review] One of two restaurants in Chama that I consider really good (the other is Outlaw BBQ). On our most recent visit, we had 3 pizzas: buffalo chicken (a special not on the regular menu), Yard Bird, and pepperoni. All were really good; the buffalo chicken was my favorite. I advise ordering, up front, everything you plan to drink. Having finished a great milk stout beer, and there being no sign of our food, I went back to get another and was firmly told to go to the end of the (food ordering) line. Before I got to order again, most of the beers, including the milk stout, had run dry. It was a half hour before I made it back to our table, but I did beat the pizzas.

I live in the area and wanted to support our local coffee shop, and have been for about 9 months…read more The service has always been appalling and while 4.70$ for a drip coffee is steep, we supported them because they were selling a local coffee company (also called Steep) and were willing to pay the premium to support a local family owned roaster. They informed me today that they will no longer be selling Steep because they raised their prices. They are now selling allegro as their drip, and when asked if using corporate coffee would lower the price of their drip, they said no. As far as I'm concerned this is disingenuous and a pretty bad hustle. Other complaints include no visible pricing and random price switching (due to the lack of transparency). We will not be back. Please consider supporting the Steep roasting company ten minutes up the road, you can get a fresh bag for 2/3 the price that higher grounds sells it for anyway.

No joke it was the best latte I've had in a LONG time and I've had some fantastic lattes! The line was decently long when I came but it was only about a 10 min wait, the staff moved fast. Plenty of parking out front and seating inside, and they have a sister boutique next door that opens a little later in the morning and has cute stuff too.
