Great place but recently had me wait for more than 6 hours for something I was told would be quick.

Extremely disappointed with my service here after thinking I was choosing a great new vet. My bunny was seen here yesterday as an emergency drop off. She was given meds an IV which was about $400. Hours later my bunny bled out and died. When I called the vet they did not seem to care about my situation. I just don't understand how I was a paying client yesterday and today they can't even ask the vet to give me any explanation on what happened to my rabbits. I spoke with Tracy and was very transparently annoyed with my questioning about having to pay to get my bunny cremated , not to take home but with the bunch they cremated together and spread at a tree. I expressed concern because I just dropped $400 and have medicine I can't even use now. I just really hope to find a vet that cares because this isn't the place. read more

0 . WORST vet experience of 15+yrs I've had. Definitely NOT recommended. Try at your own risk. In their appt pre care they suggested bringing your pets blanket and treats for comfort. I did so. When the vet came in to introduce herself to my pet he had his treat while laying next to me on his blanket. I mentioned he has his treat and she said "that's okay." First time meeting each other she walks up to my pet and starts petting him immediately, checked his heart then reaches towards his mouth with the treat still in his mouth. She puts both hands up and he turns away from her from distrust and swallows the treat! She says now she was worried it could puncture through, will need surgery at my expense because they were persistent to say it wasn't their fault and "I wasn't the one that gave him the treat." They refused any accountability and by "they" I mean the manager I spoke my concerns with on the phone. She agreed it wasn't her employee's fault, yet wasn't even in the treatment room to begin with. This could have been prevented when I mentioned he had the bone before she even introduced and started examining my pet. Concerned of the surgery, puncture and possible internal bleeding they mentioned I was furious. Transferring blame, showing zero sympathy and accountability isn't the way to treat your patient or guardian of the patient let alone a customer in general. Everyone knows that internal bleeding can lead to the death of anyone's pet! I asked why she said "it's okay" and to have me take the bone from him in the first place when I first mentioned he had it? Instead of being understanding and taking accountability they blamed me as the parent when at the time of the incident, my pet was under the hands of the Vet at that point. Unprofessional, lack of customer service, support, accountability, knowledge, poor judgment and approach with the team and Vet here. The perfect recipe to surgery, thousands of dollars spent, tragedy and loss of your pet. BE CAREFUL. read more

We brought our dog in for a mail trim, I asked the lady if she could cut the hair between his pad because he slips on our hardwood floor. It took her 4 minutes and she said it would be $60, when she took him back to trim his nails she didn't say it would run $400 per/hr. I was mad and they said they would only charge $30 since I was not told there would be a charge. I paid and left in a huff, I just called since we got a new puppy and the refused service. My mom is a Vet (lives on East Coast) and when I explained charges for exams, shots and other health issues we had she was amazed. There are so many other better places nearby, pass on this one!! P.S. they never contacted me, this the reason for this review. read more

Mislabeled my pets ashes for public cremation when instructed several times by both a friend and myself that I wanted them. Like some people living in a state they are not from my dog who was 15 and I had at that point most of my adult life was not only my best friend but my family. Wilderness Animal Hospital wanted to give me a rock with his name engraved in it as a memorial to make amends. I live in a high-rise and thus would have nothing to do with a rock. Worse yet is that the vet never even called me personally and just had their admin do the dirty work. Mind you this was a few years ago and I just finally got a new puppy. I can promise you who will NOT be the new pups vet! On a scale of 1-10 I would rate them and their empathy a negative 100! read more

I have a mixed review for this vet hospital. From my initial visit for my kittens vaccinations I was extremely pleased with everything . But I just recently took them in again for spay and neuter and I can't say the same . They had me drop them off early in the morning before 8:30am, but did surgeries only at night , I called them an hour before they close (7pm) because I was worried why the ain't calling me with it being so late in a day . Receptionist replied - oh they are just finishing up with their surgeries, you can pick them up at 6:45pm . I'm glad I called, I would appreciate a little more communication. They are offering picture updates on your pets after they wake up , but I never received it . Also they were supposed to trim their nails , but never did which was disappointing . read more

This Vet has gone down hill. They gave my beloved dog a death sentance, saying there was nothing they could do for her. We took her to another vet, Animal Hospital of Maple Valley, and they saved her. Her unoperable tumor is now shrinking because we had her spaded. Wilderness didn't even consider this. They now just lost a customer that's been going to them for over 30 years. read more

The veterinarians and veterinarian assistants were AMAZING!! They did not hesitate one bit to hop on the floor and play with Cali, they got us into a room and put a new bandana on her instantly, they were all around quick and knowledgeable with what was wrong. For as long as I can remember, this has always been the vet my family has brought our pets into. From basic vet visits, to allergic reactions, to emergency surgeries; this place has not let us down. Ever since my boyfriend and I got pets we've taken them all here too, both dogs and a cat. Recently remodeled, it is a very welcoming and calm environment. The lobby/waiting area is very large, with a lot of seating. There are also many exam rooms, I think I counted 6. Calling to schedule an appointment is always done with ease, and you are able to get in fairly quick - sometimes on the same day. There is a small section of product for sale, including flea treatments, soft claws, treats and more. The doctors are always very compassionate to our furbabies, no breed judgments either (we have one pitbull). They treat them all the same! Lots of love and wagging tails. We've taken our pets here for various things; but two of the major ones were for a Pyometra surgery, and currently for a hematoma. The Pyometra surgery ran quite expensive (but it was a rather important and dangerous one). Always good about giving you information and follow ups after appointments. They also don't try to push things on you, such as our dogs hematoma - instead of jumping straight into a $800 surgery, they recommended antibiotics and steroids and a first, and cheaper, option. Seems to be working just fine. Overall, I would recommend this place for most vet needs. I would feel comfortable leaving any of my pets with these people and that they would provide adequate care to them. read more

We are new clients to WAH they got us in promptly and were very kid with my very nervous dog. They even gave my dog a pheromone bandana to calm him down. Even with covid protocols they were very professional and kind. We will be bringing our new puppy there too. read more

My pup and I have been with WAH ever since he came home at 8wks. Their health plans were comprehensive and I liked that they were a fear-free practice. We started with the puppy package and by the end year-long contract, we ended up saving a good amount compared to if we had went without. Based on this, we decided to renew our plan and transition into the adult one. My pup has never been fond of hooman strangers and will bark (pretty intimidatingly, if you ask me) if approached, I think especially when I'm in the room as well, but the team has always been understanding (thank you!). He seems to do better in the backroom, which is fine, but when they come back, they tend to leave rather quickly before inquiring whether I have questions or not. Partly my fault since I don't remember that I have questions at the time, but if they would ask before leaving, it would jog my memory. Also, there seems to be a disconnect between PetDesk (the app they use for appointments) and the front desk. In PetDesk, I would write things related for our visit, but when coming in for our appointments, they never seem to address the notes I had left. Not a big deal, but again, there just seems to be a disconnect. Other than that, we always appreciate the WAH team and their help! The office always looks nice and clean, and they have complimentary coffee and dog treats! read more

I moved to the Maple Valley about a month ago with my cat and my very problematic pug. I specifically chose Wilderness because they offer laser therapy and they are AAHA accredited. From the very first appointment I was very impressed with their communication and how well documented their notes and plan for my pup was. Fast forward to last week, my dog was not doing well. She is a very complicated case and her body did not react well to tapering one of her medications. She ended up having to spend a couple days in their care hooked up to fluids. Brought her home today and she is SO much better and almost 100% herself again! The staff here really are amazing and the doctors are very knowledgeable. I would like to give a big thank you to all the staff for helping miss Nollie get better and for dealing with her mom who always sends you emails lol. Couldn't recommend you guys enough. read more

I took my dog there cause they couldn't walk and had no feeling in his back legs. Luckily they could see him but when they saw him they said he had NO feeling in his back legs and he had a heart murmur and need to see a neurologist, and learn how to walk, then gave me a list of people that would defiantly overcharge me like this place and are too far. Devastated, they then charged $130 dollars for being seen for 10 minutes. They handed him over like he was nothing and didn't offer anything for him. I wasn't satisfied with that so I took him to a family doctor in Kent who just opened at this time. Took him there, they gave him anti biotic, and heavy steroid, removed the access fluid in his spine. Just a $1000 late guess what....HES WALKING THIS MORNING. before you spend 10000 on a specialist like this place refers you too get a second opinion and then just take your money, ask for a 2nd opinion. These people care about money not your pet. BTW! He's doesn't have a heart murmur at all we got him triple checked. Your vets are dumb. read more

I brought my dog in for nail trimming, I waited for 25 minutes in the lobby and watched 4 people go in front, that's fine, I get it. When the tech took my dog to the back I asked if they could trim the hair in-between his paws since he slips on the hardwood floor, she said "we can do that" and went to the back. I checked out and sat down, a few minutes later they told me to pay again. I said "I already checked out". The lady at the front said that the tech added grooming and it would be another $30, she came out and said...no joke "it took me 4 minutes". I told her that if that were an hourly rate it would be $450 an hour. We had NO discussion about using a pair of scissors for 4 minutes being a charge. I do this task all the time. This is a 13 year old 10 pound Yorkie that sleeps through a nail trim. If they are charging $450 an hour, 25 minutes in the lobby... they owe me $200! A full grooming is $60 read more

Our dog was diagnosed with a tumor that required surgery. Our regular vet was going through a remodel and unable to perform the surgery. They referred us to Wilderness. Wilderness got us in quickly and was amazing. I am beyond grateful to them for their care of my dog and information provided for our dog. I love Wilderness Animal Hospital. I've tried three other different vets prior to finding Wilderness, and was never as happy with service as I am with this veterinary office. My husband and I have seen pretty much every doctor here at one time or another with our two (now just one) cats. Dr. Goebel was amazingly compassionate when we had to put our beloved Niles to sleep. Drs. Tate and Shimoda have seen our other cat also, and both have been extremely professional and knowledgeable. It's always a pleasure to see Dr. Caviness (now Dr. McCoury) also, and she seems to love our cat as much as we do. I'm happy we've found a veterinary office where everyone seems to really love what they are doing, and it shows in the quality of care and customer service we receive. I've found that prices for the office visit, vaccinations, and other items might be pricier than we've paid at other clinics; however, quality care is really important to me, and Wilderness provides the highest quality care for my cat that I've experienced so far. read more

This office is the cleanest veterinary office I have ever been to. I appreciated the office manager coming over to me to ask is she could put a bandana sprayed with Adaptil on my dog since she saw how nervous he was. She also offered crayons and a coloring book to my son who was with me for the appointment. The exam room was clean and comfortable. The veterinarian and vet assistant were also both very nice and professional. I also appreciated the calming music being played in the room. I wasn't kept waiting for a long time. Their prices are pretty reasonable and on par with other clinics that I have been to. read more

Our beagles are getting older which means we have numerous health issues. Most recently, we had some tumors removed from one of our girls and shortly after that our other beagle became very sick. I came in hoping to establish a new veterinary relationship as my old vet sold his Renton practice and is now in Gig Harbor. Unfortunately I did not get the warm fuzzy feelings that I look for in a vet office from anyone I dealt with (reception, assistant or vet). Part of that is the location in a strip mall which from the outside looks like a pet store, not a veterinary clinic. Part is the "sit in your car until you are asked to come in" procedure where all opportunity to WELCOME a new client is lost. Feels like you are ordering fast food. Very unprofessional unless perhaps you have a reactive dog which I do not. Nor was I asked if I did. And the last part is not being listened to by the vet or the assistant when I said more than once I had other things about my dog to discuss like getting her shots done. I was interested in their health plans but no one even mentioned them. Lastly, even though I had provided our both of our prior vet's information as asked in an email, no one had bothered to get even basic medical records from them and insinuated that was my fault. And lastly the most telling sign from my dog. She has no issues with going to the vet and she's been many times. This time she was shaking like a leaf until about the last 5 minutes we were there. Where to start?? What a great, wonderful, and professional staff. All the times that we have had to come in with the families fur babies they are always there to assist and explain with a smile on their face. Last week our family had to send our long time family pet to Dog Heaven. They were so wonderful and patient as they allowed the family to take a few last photos with him and enjoy the last minutes before he laid to rest. Yesterday the family received a beautiful card from the Vet and staff in the card was a homemade card which had our dogs paw print on it was so awesome and such a great thing to get as after the fact we had wished we would have done something of the sort.
