I have been going to VCA Covington for my cats since I moved to the area in 2021. They have been a very good practice for us through the various ups and downs of indoor/outdoor cat life. A couple of months ago I brought Millie in for her routine annual exam and Dr. Prater identified a dental issue which hadn't yet led to anything I was able to notice, and in addressing that a sinus tumor was identified. With limited treatment options available I opted to allow things to take their course, and over the last few weeks as the tumor grew and began to impact her activities and bring us back to the practice more often the staff was very kind and compassionate. Yesterday was her final appointment after her quality of life had decreased to where she was simply waiting on her body to stop. The staff had everything setup for us, the room was ready when we got there so no awkward waiting next to someone bringing in their new kitten or puppy. The paperwork was pre-filled, just needing me to make my final decision on how to handle her remains and sign. They were incredibly kind and compassionate, there was no rush whatsoever, and they made sure I was as involved in the process as I wanted to be. She fell asleep in my arms and passed on peacefully while I was holding her. I couldn't ask of anything more for the experience. read more

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but after my recent experience with Dr. Bradley Walls and the team at VCA Covington, I felt this one was important. My 11 year old pitty, Thor has been a patient at VCA Covington since 2015 and is extremely anxious and fearful of many things, including visits to the vet. Dr. Walls has always done everything possible to make his visits as low-stress as possible. Most recently, Thor needed surgery to remove a mass from his tail. Dr. Walls was incredibly compassionate and communicated very clearly about my options, helping me think through a decision that wasn't easy to make. I never felt rushed or pressured. I also had questions about the cost of the surgery before moving forward. I received a call right away, my questions were answered thoroughly, and the explanation of the estimate made sense. I was able to bring Thor in for surgery feeling comfortable with both the plan and what I could expect financially, without worrying about unexpected costs appearing afterward. Having a veterinarian I trust with a dog who is so difficult to treat means a great deal to me. Hi, I want to share our very sad and disappointing experience with VCA Covington and encourage you not to visit this office. While our visits before Emma's end-of-life were positive and warm, we received such painful and shameful care at the end of Emma's life. I would never want another family or pet to go through what we did. Here's our story: Emma was diagnosed with renal disease around 9 months old. She had testing done prior to her being spayed. Dr. Walls believed it was possibly due to a birth defect. Moving forward, we went to the office every 6 months for check-ups and blood work. Around the end of April (Emma is now almost 5), we noticed Emma was declining in health. Around that time, I went on our VCA app and scheduled an appointment. Her appointment was scheduled for a month away (beginning of June). So, the next day, I called the office and asked if there was any way we could get Emma in sooner. The receptionist told me that we could call each day at 8 a.m. to see if we could get a cancellation and come in for a same-day appointment. I am a schoolteacher, and I explained I could not leave work for a same-day appointment and asked if there was an appointment the next day or in the coming week or so, anything sooner than beginning of June. I was told no, and she recommended we take Emma to Arrow, if needed. Fast forward two weeks later, and Emma is getting worse. I call again, and I am told the same thing again. This time, I say that my children's pediatrician keeps sick appointments in their schedule....was this something their office did as well? No, but I can call each day at 8 a.m. to hope to get a cancellation for a same-day appointment. This time, I ask a clarifying question: So am I understanding that your office is more of a clinic for preventive and wellness care? And, the receptionist says, yes. Then another week passes, and Emma is very sick. I have the same conversation with the same clarifying questions and answers. So, your office provides wellness and preventative care, but sick visits are not to be expected? Yes. This time, I share that we are so sad and disappointed in the care we are receiving at Emma's end-of-life. That this is something they needed to share with our family and other families when their pet is diagnosed with a chronic disease. 4 days later our sweet Emma was put to rest at Mountainside Vet in Maple Valley. Someplace she was not a patient, with people she had not been see or been cared by. They were wonderful with Emma, but what a terrible and shameful way for VCA to handle our situation. Emma died 4 weeks after we had made our appointment. Please do not take your pets to this clinic!! Your family and pets deserve dignity, compassion, and love at the end of their life. I also want to add that Fairwood Veterinary Office was also so helpful and kind when we were searching for sooner care. They were so helpful and caring. VCA may be great for wellness and preventative care, but end-of-life care is also so important. read more

Words cannot describe how we feel about this Vet Clinic. We recently lost our very old calico cat (Sugerloaf) to kidney failure. When diagnosed two years ago, the staff created a very well thought out treatment plan that gave Sugerloaf an additional two years with us. Nothing excessive but a very sensible plan that also prepared us for the inevitable and focused on her quality of life all the way to the end. Every staff member took the time to get to know us and our pet. The treatment Sugerloaf received was way over and above what we expected. These people truly love animals and truly care about their customers. Something unheard of in our current society. read more

If I could put a zero star I would. Our dog died post a surgery that the emergency vet said should have had overnight monitoring. They called 5 days after surgery. It was not the same Dr who did the surgery. The conversation was about how sad their office was. There was no accountability. Have the year you all deserve. read more

When I called my previous vet, telling them my cat was lethargic and not eating (which is very unusual for my cat), they couldn't get me in for a few days. So I called VCA Covington Animal Hospital, and they got me in that day. If they hadn't, my cat would have died from kidney failure. Dr. Walsh is amazing. After examining my little friend and obtaining test results, she called me back and talked with me for a long time to give me a thorough rundown of the treatments available and what my options were. She is spicy at the vet and Dr. Bradley Walls was one of the only people that has been able to thoroughly look at her teeth during the check up. I purchased a kitten from someone on Craigslist and the poor thing had fleas, worms and a kitty cold. (People can be so cruel) anyhow I called and was able to get an appointment right away and they were able to give my little guys meds to make Him feel better. We brought our dogs and cats here in the past. Over the last few years we've switched vets, not due to poor treatment, but because they're not up front about basic cost of services. They'll give the basic exam fee over the phone, but when asked for the cost of blood work and other routine things they won't provide a cost. The only answer they give over the phone is that they'll tell you after a basic exam. This has happened three times in the past few years when we've thought about going back to them because it's close to our home. We refuse to do business with places like this that operate like a car dealership. read more

Our dog has had some health issues and she goes back over the chart and researches if necessary before recommending any treatment/meds etc so as not to have any conflicts. I had always seen this vet when I was out in Covington, but never stopped by. VCA is located near Walmart and Nikki's restaurant. It has a small parking lot with maybe ten spaces, and a small area for dogs to use the restroom before going inside. My small Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix had randomly been yelping out in pain, so I needed to bring her in. VCA Animal Hospitals offer a free first exam (coupon online) so I decided to try this place out. I was able to make an appointment the same day I called. The girls at the front desk were very friendly. I didn't have to wait long before going in to the exam room. It is a typical vet room, with a chair for you to sit, an exam table - the usual. Kelsey, the vet assistant, was great. I can't remember the how to spell the name of the vet that did the exam - and I can't seem to find her name on the website - but she was very, very informative, helpful, and gentle with my dog. She gave a lot of good options for me, and provided me with a ton of information on the conditions my dog has, and was able to help me out with medications as well. They are not pushy, and it doesn't seem like the type of place that plays on the heart strings of pet owners - they seem very honest and that they actually care for the well being of your pet. They provide you with different options instead of forcing one idea on you. I really appreciate that. If I have any other issues I will most likely return here. read more

This is the greatest veterinary clinic I have ever taken a family pet to. They are competent, quick, honest, and extremely compassionate. They took care of our pet cat for the last few years of his life, and gave us more good years than we would have ever have expected. They helped us put him down, and made it as painless and peaceful as possible. A few days later, we received a "thinking of you" card in the mail handwritten from the doctor who helped us. I had two bad animal experiences with VCA. Posie - Cat weight began dropping precipitously. Took cat to the VCA. Cat was diagnosed with a "liver infection" and put on antibiotics by Dr. Brazzo. Cat's condition continued to deteriorate. I took cat to another vet. New vet was surprised VCA was unable to pull a diabetes diagnosis from VCA's own blood panel. Cat pun on insulin. Turn-around has been miraculous. No thanks to VCA staff vet. Unmei -- Cat had been inappropriately urinating for years. VCA never had a clue how to help, though brought in for the issue twice over 4 year period. I decided to see what the new vet I tried Posie with above might say. She said, "Put her on this low magnesium food." Within a week, peeing stopped, and remains so to this day. Again, VCA: 0. read more

We had our first visit with Dr. Walls this weekend and a 5 star rating is just not enough! Everyone was SO friendly and helpful. Our dog Roofus gets anxiety easily at new places and they brought him out all these treats to make him feel more comfortable and played with him and talked to him like he was a real human which I loved. You can definitely tell that they are not just saying things to get money from you or are being fake towards you. They genuinely care. A few days later we actually got a follow up call from Dr. Walls making sure Roofus was okay which I appreciate knowing that he is probably very busy with patients! We spent approximately 25-30 minutes there and our bill was beyond reasonable. The location is easy to get to as well with plenty of parking! I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. We came for a second opinion when our dog was diagnosed with cancer and we received the best care. They were honest, kind, and offered treatment our other vet did not that gave us extra time with our dog. When the time came to say goodbye, they were amazing. The bedside manner was a huge blessing, and they even sent us a condolences card later. They returned phone calls quickly, made time in the schedule for us, and were always compassionate. I just my dog to VCA a couple times for checkups. I really appreciate how VCA does their best to accommodate each pet and ease the vet anxiety some pets have. I'm writing this review after receiving the email regarding how VCA is helping with the COVID-19 pandemic. VCA is offering free delivery of dog food and medications for customers during this time. This is a remarkable, upstanding thing to do. Many people are worried and scared and this will help ease the worry some may feel regarding the care of their pets. I probably won't take advantage of this service but VCA has won major points with me. This service is especially going to help those who are immune compromised and shouldn't leave home. I have always taken my animals to this location, and I loved having Dr. Davis. She unfortunately moved to California so I had to go to another doctor which was Dr. Walsh. She was extremely rude when I had my puppy fixed I wanted her to remove her dewclaws but instead the morning of her surgery after I dropped my puppy off. I get a phone call telling me she will not remove the dewclaws because they are to close and not hanging off enough. Which I totally understand, but the way she went about explaining to me how it would be inhumane to do and be torture to my dog, really pissed me off and was super unprofessional. When I got the estimate from her staff it showed I'd be paying 200 dollars but when she talked to me she said it was completely wrong and would be double the price. She told me normally she'd do it for the price it was originally was for my trouble but in this case she WASN'T going to do it. I will never have her take a look at my animals ever again. The worst experiance ever! Zero listening skills. I had been taking my animals there for a couple of years and normally saw Dr. Walls who my pets and I loved. This visit was with a different vet. I will never go back after my recent experiance with the new female vet. Rude, condescending, talked AT me and refused to listen to the questions I was asking and why. Instead made assumptions and was belittling, refusing to listen. One of the worst diagnosis I could have received, on my birthday, just weeks after my divorce was finalized, during the holidays and I am told I going to lose my best furry friend at a very young age. Instead of listening to understand my questions and concerns for other people who may have purchased or may purchase animals from this breeder in the future, I was treated with arrogant disrespect and treated like I was an idiot. We are first-ever dog owners and frankly the reason we chose this vet is it's just a few minutes from home and they had a comprehensive and well-priced puppy starter package. We couldn't be happier with them and will definitely keep using them even when our puppy is through with the starter package! Update: The manager called me back and was apologetic and worked out a solution. The front staff needs a lot of training, but the vet that we usually see there, Dr. Gina, is very helpful in cat behavior and cares about our pets. We have never had a problem with her, but she wasn't in the clinic on the day of the incident and the staff was confused as to what to do and kept giving me wrong information. read more

I really appreciate that their hours are such that I can bring my dog in and still work full time without having to always leave work. Dr. Davis did a great job of calling me and talking to me about my options with what to do with my puppy and then giving me ideas of how to work with my puppy.. The staff have been nice and helpful! I have never been a fan of VCA all i hear and see is dollar signs from them. They are expensive. My pet tested positive on a fecal, went though a course of meds and then needed to be re-tested. They will charge you the full amount of the test on a re-test. read more

I normally take my dogs to the VCA Kent location but in case of emergency and the Kent location is fully booked, I will come to the covington VCA. I have been here twice, one for my boxer allergy and the other one is for my pug diarrhea. The vet and staffs are friendly and helpful. I have them to fax the pet insurance paper to the Pet Insurance company and they did it pretty much right away. The only point that is missing is solely for the building environment. It is not bad but could be better. It is more of an older building so it doesn't looks as good compare to the one in Kent. So, based on the 2 visits I had with this location, I would say that I am very satisfied with the services. read more
