Voll goes old school with their room keys.
    Keith K.

It's just another roadside motel, nothing architecturally outstanding here, nothing even that historic about the place. It's been at the same location for over 60 years and only the last 10 years has the jolly Narendra owned the motel. Narendra has a lilt in his voice that makes even the end of a long day of driving seem easy. With the positive energies of Narendra and his family, the Voll Motel holds its own in the inexpensive motel market of Ukiah. As I arrived I was offered smoking or non-smoking rooms, that may seem normal, but more and more that option is going away. I chose non-smoking and the room smelled fresh and clean. Parking is right in front of your room (in most cases) making it an easy-in/easy-out affair. Just don't back into your parking spot, not sure why tho. The room was a decent size, the bed, large and firm with a somewhat strange (to this country) choice of bedsheets, nothing fitted. The bed was very comfortable none the less. Everything was clean; simple carpet, decent sized mini fridge, a writing desk and chair, nice A/C heater combo that blasted the room hot or cold and a medium-sized flat screen with all the basic cable channel choices. There was no microwave tho, another odd choice, but not that much of an inconvenience for my stay. There are obvious signs that this motel has been here for a while, none more apparent than the room door security, or lack thereof. Your door opens with an actual key, you know, those metal things that we used to stick into keyholes to open doors? Yeah, that's what the Voll prefers. Once inside the room, you can see that there is no deadbolt whatsoever, just a classically useless door chain and a button on the inside doorknob to lock it. Not high security at all, luckily you're still in Ukiah. Ukiah might not be the first place you think of stopping in this area of northern California, but if you should find yourself in Ukiah in need of a motel, you really can't beat the Voll for around $60 you get a nice, clean room in a quiet part of town. And a great sense of humor from Narendra. As for the motel's name, Voll Motel, even Narendra didn't know its origins, but said he was very happy to continue its tradition.

Third visit was as good as the first and second. I really appreciate that they pre-screen visitors and keep troublemakers, riffs raff and druggies out. Clean. Efficient. Great!

Entering the hotel, with pleasant customer service and plenty of coffee to warm us up after a long three hour drive hit just right! Upon entering our large modern king room, we enjoyed: fire place( should be part of every Hilton experience) , balcony, fridge and microwave. The bathroom also exceeded our expectation- with his and her mirrors; plenty of hooks and towel holders; and large closet space. We really appreciated the flooring in the entry way with the coat rack( this should be part of every Hilton experience). Morning hospitality was nice as well. More warm coffee and breakfast hit the spot for our drive home. Amazing! Hilton experience as expected but this experience one of the best Hilton experiences I've had this year. My only concern was there may have been a pet in the room so maybe having separate rooms for pet owners would be appreciated. Again thank you for an amazing stay!

We…read moregot a friendly greeting and the clerk did a good job of finding rooms for us and our friends that were close together. Good to see that they had luggage carts because we had an assortment of travel and grocery bags and boxes to deal with and a rather long trek to our rooms. Our rooms were pretty nice but we must have had a family with kids above us that were wound up from their adventures. We heard them scampering around long after 11pm. What you gonna do? The bed was very comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. The TV had lots of channels and we found some movies we enjoyed. Breakfast started at 6am downstairs. They had a great assortment of vittles. I tried the pre-made cheese omelet with a few potatoes and some sausage slices. Pretty good, but the omelet could have used some salsa. I went back for a couple of the mini waffles. They offered malted vanilla of cinnamon roll flavor batter. After 3 minutes in the waffle iron, they are ready to go. The chocolate and caramel syrup were too thick to dispense from their squirt bottles, but the raspberry topping flowed easily and the whipped cream can had plenty of propellant. Back in our room, the 2 sinks had good lighting for getting yourself ready for the day. Not too impressed with the shower / bathtub setup, though. The tub diverter that you pull up to direct water to the shower head didn't seal well. Half of the shower water went past it into the tub. Not impressed with the toilet, either. It sits too close to the floor, like it was designed for a child. Also, it's placed too close to the sink counter. The toilet seat was loose, too, making it more of a challenge when sitting down. We mentioned that to the clerk, so hopefully, it will be fixed. The balcony was tiny, with 1 plastic chair & table. The view consisted of the street below and the parking lot across the street. The glass door and the screen door were very hard to slide in their tracks. Best to avoid the balcony altogether. Anyway, the place was very clean and attractive. The pool area was very inviting but we didn't have time to enjoy it. Maybe next time.

They don't take cards. Breakfast was very basic, toast, Eggo style waffles, cold cereal, juice, and coffee. But what made it truly unforgettable was Rachel and her incredible team. From the very beginning, Rachel made everything feel easy. She's organized, intuitive, calm, and somehow manages to be both laid-back and on top of every detail. I never felt overwhelmed, never stressed. I fully trusted her, and that trust paid off a thousand times over. The florals were perfect--gorgeous but not fussy, exactly in tune with the setting and the vibe we'd envisioned. Her staff was so kind and attentive, and the whole event flowed effortlessly thanks to their care and presence. Guests kept commenting on how beautiful everything was, but also how relaxed and fun the day felt. There was no pretense or pressure--just love, laughter, tacos (SO GOOD), and pure joy. Rachel also helped us source our hair and makeup artist (who was amazing), our dessert vendor (adorable and delicious), and even supported our late-night In-N-Out plan. She managed every piece of the puzzle with grace and humor, and made sure we got to actually enjoy our wedding day. (Which we did. Fully. With Palomas. And a piano man. And guacamole on my dress.) We've joked with our guests about making this an annual thing, and honestly? We might not be joking. Yokayo is that special. And if you're lucky enough to have Rachel by your side, you're in very good hands.

It's not the fanciest hotel but it was remodeled not too long ago, and as modern as it can be. The décor of the hotel is nice, the room was clean, and the area is pretty quiet; parking was easy, safe and free. The other hotel options were just a tad bit better, but this was pretty good and a bang for your buck. The one thing I will say is the walls are super thin. I could hear clear conversations of our neighbors, BUT I turned on the AC so that pretty much phased out the talk. Also, the gym is a no-frills kind of place. One treadmill, one bike and one elliptical. There are no weights of any kind. I didn't use the pool, which is indoors; it was empty despite the outdoor heat. The front desk was great. On two dif occasions, I asked for band-aids and lotion and they easily supplied both. Check-in was easy, fast and done with a smile. There are some good eats within walking distance and downtown is just an easy few lights away. A simple breakfast is included in our stay and it was perfect bc we had lunch plans, but I needed something after my workout, so I would make myself a granola bowl with fresh yogurt and fresh toppings. Overall, this was a good stay and I would come back here again.
