With what could've been an incredible mess regarding insurance companies and their payment, they've made it so easy on me! It's strange to feel underinsured when one is overinsured. My bride's healthcare policy happens to be my secondary as I am disabled and Medicare is my primary provider. However (prepare for curveball). The provider, while the primary provider does accept Medicare - my provider is not seen as acceptable by Medicare's standards so Medicare does not pay anything. This triggers my secondary, which is billed here as my primary (see above paragraph). They will not pay simply because my primary has not paid. In conversation they say they need a letter of denial of service (which Mt. P Psychiatry does accept, but my individual provider cannot) which isn't true and cannot be provided as the entire operation operates under one tax code. So now I am to look through my summaries of service from Medicare and send them to my secondary insurance so they will be informed that in this case - they are my primary and will pay for all of the services going forward as well as those which have previously been denied. Wow. I'm not a lawyer, this stuff makes my head swim and is all the more reason to need to have my head shrunken further. Yikes. Have a pleasant day.

I had to bring my toddler with me and he is all over the place and they were so understanding and tolerant of him. They accommodated my son and me and I am so grateful. I received a message from Amanda that felt overly personal and not appropriate for a professional setting. It included emotionally loaded language and a photo request that put me in an uncomfortable position, especially given my history--which the therapist was aware of. When I brought up how this made me feel, the response I received was brief and lacked empathy. It left me feeling dismissed rather than supported. Therapy should be a place where boundaries are respected and communication is handled with care. This experience ultimately did not align with what I need in a therapist. Although I initially felt Amanda understood me and was helpful, this experience is extremely invalidating and has hurt me. I can't say I would recommend her as a therapist. Additionally, I've noticed that Amanda blocked me from her public business page, Peace of Mind Therapy, shortly after I shared my concerns with her. I had not been interacting with her on social media prior to this and had no issues accessing the page before. This action seems to reflect an unwillingness to receive feedback, rather than a response to any inappropriate behavior on my part. As a former client, I believe I should have the right to share my experience publicly--especially since I chose to end therapy due to the discomfort and lack of support I felt. Blocking former clients from a public page after they express concerns raises further ethical questions and feels like an attempt to silence valid feedback. I have since been in contact with her supervisor and because of the nature of this experience and the ethical concerns it raises, I will also be reporting this situation to the South Carolina licensing board for review.
