Such a beautiful little find in Carlsbad! We stopped into Wildland for a quick coffee and ended up absolutely loving the whole experience. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Tartine, and it was SO good -- farmer's cheese, capers, pickled onion and dill on their sourdough. Honestly, the food was top tier. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, and after trying the bread we actually ended up buying some to take home! For drinks, we had a matcha latte with oat milk and the canned nitro cold brew. Just a heads-up for my fellow coffee people: the cold brew isn't made in-house, but that didn't stop it from being really good! We liked the coffee so much that we actually went over to the local coffee shop that supplies their beans afterward and bought some beans to take home. And definitely don't skip the bakery. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, and the chocolate croissant had that super crispy, crackly exterior. I personally would have loved a little more filling to make it slightly more moist, but that's completely subjective -- if you love a crispier croissant, you'll probably LOVE it. The atmosphere might have been my favorite part. It's beautiful, calm, inviting and just has that perfect Carlsbad coastal café vibe. Between the food, fresh bread, pastries and atmosphere, this is absolutely somewhere I'd come back to whenever we're in the area. I was excited to try this place after realizing that the owners of this establishment were also the same ones for Campfire. We dined a few years ago and remembered the charred broccoli very fondly. Since we were visiting SD, this was the best opportunity to grab lunch on our way down from LA. It is absolutely a gorgeous, spacious and light/airy establishment. Even the restrooms were beautiful lol I must've missed the breakfast menu, but we only saw the lunch menu available so we ordered: A Very Green Salad: I was decisive about ordering this since I saw that this was made with gem lettuce and dressed with green goddess. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of dressing on this salad and the over proliferation of breadcrumbs that were literal crumbs spread over the salad as opposed to croutons (which I had envisioned). In the end, it tasted too dry and dusty (for lack of a better word). I wouldn't order this again. BLT (wood fired sandwich): This was AMAZING! My daughter and I love BLTs but this was one of the best that I've had and I particularly enjoyed the bread on this sandwich. It was beautifully presented and was also delicious. Wish I could have this more often. Steak sandwich (wood fired sandwich): This was also a disappointing since it sounded like it would be so delicious, but it lacked flavor and I didn't end up finishing it up. But the food and the ambience was amazing We started off with a margarita, a hot tea and a romantic comedy. The romantic comedy is one of my top drinks in Carlsbad. So good and refreshing. Dangerous bc you can't just have one. We started off with the summer squash salad (ricotta cheese on the side), a very green salad, and a sourdough loaf. All were great- but my favorite was the very green salad. It had so much flavor. The loaf was good and baked there - but it's something we have al had before. And the squash salad was unique and delicious. Still the green salad was my fav and must order. For our meal we shared the grilled albacore tuna and the Bianca picante pizza. I would go back and order these both again. Incredible. The tuna laid in a tomato sauce that was so light and was covered in olives. The flavors complimented each other well. I wish we had more on our plate. The pizza came recommended by our waitress. It was surprising how good it was. I'm usually a red sauce girl but this was tasty with a bit of spice. So good. Wildland was the perfect spot for our group of six adults and five toddlers, especially with the spacious outdoor patio where the little ones had room to move around while we enjoyed a leisurely meal. A few things worth noting: - Their bakery is in-house so don't skip on their bread and pastries. - The casarecce, mafaldine, and bucatini amatriciana were all cooked beautifully, each with its own distinct flavor. Every pasta had a nice chew to them. - The cocktails were refreshing but definitely on the stronger side, so you get your money's worth. - Parking on the surrounding streets. The pacing of the meal started off great, but we had to ask about the NY strip a few times. The wait made everyone full, but once it finally came, we gobbled it up. This is a very cool place. It was my first time there. We had a large party of 11 for breakfast. We met at 9am on a Sunday. There was no problem getting a couple of tables. You have to stand in line to order your food and they deliver it to your table. By the time we left at 11am the place was packed. Clearly it's popular. With 11 people there was a wide variety of items ordered. DRINKS: I was not impressed with the tea and coffee everyone ordered. A $4 cup of drip coffee deserves a refill at least once. My coconut chai was not a traditional type chai. It was just ok. No one ordered a second beverage. FOOD: All the entrees looked delicious. The eggs had that yellow you only see from a really fresh egg. The French toast was good. Very pretty presentation. The center of mine looked like it could have cooked a bit longer. I would not order again. We also had pastries for the table. The almond croissant is excellent. My DIL's meal arrived after all of us were done eating. I'm not sure what happened. Came here for breakfast. I love the open-space concept and relaxing vibe. You order from the counter and seat yourself. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We got the breakfast plate and a variety of pastries. Breakfast Plate- This is a hearty plate with scrambled eggs, double smoked bacon, roasted potatoes, and sourdough toast. Eggs were fluffy and the roasted potatoes had a nice garlicky and herby flavor. The toast is fresh and tasty. Shoutout to one of the best bacons I've ever had! This is a true dining experience, wow! I am so, so glad my friend and I chose Wildland as our catch-up/hang-out dinner venue! I'd heard of its sister restaurant, Campfire; however, I hadn't been to either. This was my first time at Wildland, and it did not disappoint. Where should I start this review? Perhaps the ambiance? It's simply gorgeous inside. Gorgeous! Open spaces, and a beautiful, warm palette of neutrals and soft colors. To me, the atmosphere of my dining experience is so important, and I have no notes here. Well done. We were immediately seated and greeted by the staff. Everyone was so kind and even made conversation with my friend and me. Jorge, the one who made our drinks, even bent my straw into a heart, which was a cute detail I enjoyed. Haha, shout out to Erika, too! Okay, but now onto the food. It was, to make a long story short, delicious, albeit expensive. But you kinda know that beforehand, if you're choosing to dine here. Below is my review of all the items we ordered: Ube Bae Bae: One of the new cocktails offered on the menu! It was a beautiful purple color. It reminded me of a pina colada, which is always a favorite in my book. You can taste the alcohol, but it isn't overpowering. Chunky Dunky: Another one of the new cocktails offered. It supposedly had banana in it, but I couldn't quite make it out. I still enjoyed it, though I wouldn't say I'd reorder this. Sugar Snap Peas: I didn't know snap peas could taste this elevated, haha. The hint of lemon added a nice touch of citrus to the otherwise earthy flavors. It was a nice, light appetizer, and the portions weren't half bad. Wood Fired Cabbage: Definitely my favorite appetizer of the two we tried. This was like a cabbage steak, but absolutely enveloped in cheese! That's still healthy, right? The char was delightful, and I highly recommend this dish. Mafaldine: Wow, loved this pasta dish too! The pasta shape is very fun to eat, and it adds a nice texture. The tomato-morjoram is a nice twist on a regular tomato sauce, and the sundried tomatoes added a nice pop of sweetness. It would only be elevated if it came with some protein. Tiramisu: Please, please get the tiramisu. It was so good, though I'm always biased with tiramisu, haha. The cream was rich, and the espresso flavor prominent. They are incredibly generous with the cocoa powder, too; trust me, we were close to licking it off the plate. Chocolate Hazelnut Cake: Imagine biting into a giant Ferrero Rocher. This is exactly what it tasted like, and I have no complaints here. Very rich, very decadent. So good. Overall, I loved my experience at Wildland! Went here last night to celebrate with my boyfriend. Everything was so amazing. The whole vibe of the restaurant was really cool and our servers were very kind. We started off with the crudo minus the pistachios and I loved it. I was a little curious about the strawberries being on there but they really made the dish so good. The aesthetics of this place are chefs kiss. The food was delicious but the pizza was THE best part. My friend and I got lemon pie (generally good), strawberry saffron lemonade (wish it had a bit more saffron), cinnamon crumb cake (tasty), and the mushroom and broccolini pizza (WOW 10/10 would recommend getting this). The line is out the door for a reason. Visited Carlsbad for a wedding and this place was recommended by other guests. Came on a Sunday morning and the line was out the door, down the steps, onto the patio and out into the street. With nothing to do, we were willing to wait and it took about 20 minutes to get the front of the line. The patio is very aesthetic with trees, palms, shrubs, a pretty wooden fence, canvas canopies and string lights. You are greeted inside the restaurant by a vast dining room with sun lights, pink tiles, tons of seating and a well decorated bar as the center focal point. We ordered two lattes (choc hazelnut and salted maple), two madelines and the shashuka sandwich to split. The sammy was absolutely delish. Its sort of like a pizza crust bread/bun with pizza toppings inside? They serve it with pickled veggies and it so, so good. The lattes are perfectly flavored -- not too sweet and it seems like they make the syrups in house which I appreciate. The madelines were light, fluffy and full of lemon zest. We got a small snack so we could visit another local place but I would have loved to have a full meal and/or visit again at night for dinner. read more

I couldn't give five stars because of a few hiccups I experienced, but I'm going to bury the negatives at the bottom of this review. For our first appetizer-type courses, we ordered sliced sourdough with butter and roasted cabbage - both great options. The roasted cabbage ended up being my favorite part of the dinner. It was like a Caesar salad on a juicy, tender cabbage spear with a slight char. I felt like I definitely needed to order some bread to try some element of the bakery. We got another taste of the bakery because we also ordered pizza from the kids menu. I snuck a piece and that was great. We ordered two main courses: one pasta dish and the other was a braised rabbit with morels. The pasta dish was fine but my wife and I weren't planning to share it. We had to share it because the rabbit dish took so long that I had to cancel the order. It was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to that. That was one inconvenience. The other hiccup was they didn't have any beer available because of a cooler issue. They had really good beer on the menu too, so finding that out after I ordered was a let down. I entertained ordering wine or a cocktail afterward but passed. We were sitting by the bar and the cocktails they were making looked really good. With those issues, the manager spoke with us and sent us home with a slice of lemon meringue pie to rectify. We appreciated the gesture and the service we had all night was good. I've been wanting to make it to wildland since its inception, but I'm just not in the area that often. I had an appointment earlier in the day in Oceanside so I decided to drive the coast and stop on my way home. I could see where parking could be a problem, but I found a spot relatively quickly. I walked up and admired the patio. It's definitely a nice spot for outdoor dining. I walked in and noticed a big wide open industrial space. The bar was in the middle as well as the coffee bar. The woman at the counter greeted me kindly when I walked in and answered my questions. I know I already like steadystate coffee so I happily ordered a latte. I asked if they had oat milk, which she said they did. The pastries and breads looked tempting so I also ordered a Madeline. She advised me that I needed to pick up my coffee at the end of the bar in the middle of the large room and handed me my Madeleine. Upon payment I had my receipt emailed to me. I was greeted at the bar by the barista who served me my drink. It took a few minutes, but I wasn't expecting otherwise, and I was happily enjoying looking at the restaurant. There were people in the back working on their computers and people dining throughout the restaurant. It was only about 11:30 so there weren't a lot of people there yet but I imagine it gets quite busy. She handed me my latte and I was on my way. It was good, nice and strong. My Madeline was very good too, and I could've eaten more than one easily. When I looked at my receipt later, I noticed they charged me an extra dollar for oat milk. I understand that some places do and some places don't, but when I asked if they had oatmilk, it should it should have been stated. Enjoyed my time catching up with friends and working from Wildland! The place itself is BEAUTIFUL very open and a lot of natural light. Even though it was busy throughout our time, there was enough space it did not feel stuffy. I started with a vanilla latte with oat milk which was delicious but not very hot. After paying extra for oat milk it was over a $10 latte. Note that the surcharge is 4% as well. Later I went up to the cashier and ordered the quarter chicken. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and I really enjoyed the sauces it came with. The lettuce was interesting and good but could have used a salad dressing as it was quite dry and I didn't want to dip it in the aioli, chili oil or humus. Also some parts of the lettuce tasted weirdly chemically - I wonder if because they did not cut it it was hard to wash and something stayed on it that was foul tasting. Also cutting the chicken multiple times created cuts in the paper and I didn't accidentally eat the paper which got soggy and easy to pick up which was not pleasant. Lastly, one of the water carafes we used had dark sediment in the bottom which was very off putting. I ordered the puff rice bowl which came with puffed organic brown rice, cucumbers, avocado, kale, cilantro, feta cheese all topped with a delicious sunny side up egg. I added bacon which made this dish extra savory. The bacon itself was too salty though. Everything tasted fresh - I love all the crunchy rice puffs and all the delicious veggies. Finally trying out the food scene in Carlsbad! Wildland was such a great first experience. The restaurant is beautiful with a nice outdoor dining patio, a large bar, indoor seating, and even a private area for events. Not only are they a restaurant and bar, but they're also a bakery -- they make their own homemade bread for their dishes, which I love. And I'm always a fan of a viewable kitchen; it's so fun watching the artists create their pieces of art. The space has high ceilings, so it feels really open and spacious. The beverage menu is impressive with spritzes, classic cocktails, beer, clarified drinks, and mocktails. We were a group of friends celebrating a birthday, so we ordered a mix of salads, a pizza, a pasta, and a steak entrée to share. The wood‑fired cabbage is their take on a Caesar salad and wow -- I may only make Caesar with cabbage from now on. Soft on the inside, charred on the outside, so much flavor. The 'Nduja pizza was great, and the homemade bread crust makes such a difference. Sadly, they didn't have ranch, but they brought out a fresh dill aioli‑style sauce that worked perfectly. The grilled hanger steak with the ricotta wood‑fired gnocchi was the star of the show. We also had the mafaldine pasta, which was good, just not the standout of the night. We had a wonderful experience at Wildland on 06/06/26. They had recently switched to their summer menu and we had the mushroom and broccolini pizza, bucatini, burrata, and since it was our first time we had to have the cabbage (which was the star of the show). They also were doing a community drink of the ube bae bar from False Idols, which was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. All in all it was a perfect date night the ambience was lively but not loud and it was beautiful. TL;DR - wood fired pizza sandwich is really good! I'd get this again. The pistachio blackberry tart is lightly sweet and fruity. Tiramisu was standard. This place is really cool. Very unique food options. Great ambiance. Lots of space and tables (indoors and outdoors). It is basically a restaurant, bakery, and bar. Service is decently quick. We had to wait a bit for our food because the place was packed. The highlight of our food was definitely the wood fire pizza sandwich. Yeah it's sounds weird... a pizza sandwich. But you won't regret it!! It has motadella, stracciatella, peso, parmigiano, and a charred runny egg. The bread is basically a large fluffy pizza that encases the contents like a taco. It was VERY soft bread, and really tasty. I'd get this again in a heart beat! We liked the food enough, and hung around long enough, that we decided to go inside to find another table for dessert (because it started raining outside). Hiya B.U.M.S! We stopped by this spot and had a wonderful morning. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and it crack-ed open a burst of flavor from the very first bite. The sausage was juicy, and the egg yolk popped perfectly. While the aioli sauce was a tad on the salty side, the overall sandwich was delicious it literally left flavor all over my mustache! My wife ordered the shakshuka and scrambled right into it with a knife and fork. She broke me off a piece to try, and while nothing specific jumped out at me, I kept hearing her mention how amazing the bread was. In her own words: "A delightful, messy burst of flavor and textures, but the overall dish could have used more tomato sauce--and flatbread is not a sandwich." To drink, we tried the chocolate hazelnut latte, which was sweet, smooth, and pretty tasty. We also finished off our breakfast with a slice of the chocolate hazelnut cake. It was a decent treat that reminded me a bit of a Ferrero Rocher, though a scoop of ice cream on top would have really taken it to the next level (but to be fair, I like ice cream on everything!). The prices were definitely Californian with a side of beachy vibes tax, but the atmosphere was great. To "bum" up this review, we had a toast-ally awesome time and would absolutely come back if we're in the area--next time, we have our eyes on the pizza! 3.5 stars. I wanted to like them more but the entrees were a tad disappointing. We had reservations and I recommend making one because this place is busy. We parked in the public parking lot one block over so it was a 3-ish minute walk to the restaurant. The ambiance is posh with an industrial yet minimal feel to it. The two person tables are a little smaller than we would like (3 plates of food just about fit on the table). The chairs are uncomfortable. We started with drinks - my friend got the margarita and I got the boxing day cocktail. The margarita was based off grape juice but somehow sweeter than we anticipated. My friend does not like sweet drinks and we had to ask for almost no agave to make this drink to her taste. The celery salt was interesting and the best part of the drink. It should be spread all around the rim and not just on one corner. I know it makes the presentation look better but that salt cut down on the sweetness immensely and we loved that combination. PLEASE add the salt all around the rim! The boxing day was a gin based cocktail served as a latte. While you get a hint of gin, it isnt overwhelming, so I liked it! It tasted like a decaffeinated latte :) it is a pricey cocktail though because we paid $18 for this. For food, we started with the wood Fired Cabbage, then the 'Nduja pizza, followed by the lamb meatballs and bucatini carbonara, and a dessert of the chocolate hazelnut cake. The wood Fired Cabbage was the bomb and I will definitely come back here for this dish. The cabbage is, as the name suggests, wood Fired and then stuffed with salad, crispy shallots and covered with shredded Parmesan. The whole thing is delicious and surprisingly light! The shallots elevate the dish completely. The 'Nduja felt like there was a lot happening - too many ingredients, too many flavors so that nothing was able to stand out. The menu said there was spicy 'Nduja. We didn't taste the spice because the cheese, the onions, the fennel, everything overpowered the main component of this dish. I also felt that the crust was fried and burnt a little. I would request removing a couple of ingredients so that the star of the dish i.e. the sausage, can remain the star. The lamb meatballs were ok. Nothing to sing songs about but not bad either. The bucatini carbonara was not good. There was a weird flavor in the dish, which I think came from the guanciale...an almost sweet bitter flavor that ruined the carbonara flavor. I also felt that the carbonara sauce itself was thicker than I am used to. The bucatini was a little chewy too. All in all, that dish wasn't my favorite. It tasted better the next morning after I had cooked it a little more. We ended the meal with the chocolate hazelnut cake. We thought it would be an individual cake but it was a slice. The cake was delicious but heavy. The hazelnut chocolate ganache in between the layers was delicious and the cake sponge was soft. Between the two of us, we finished less than half the slice, so I highly recommend getting this only if you have more than 2 people in the group. All in all, our experience was not as wonderful as we would have liked and this was primarily driven by the main course. We won't be back. read more

I really wanted to love this spot because the indoor and outdoor spaces are stunning, but the service fell short. Despite three different servers checking on a missing drink, it didn't arrive until we were halfway through our meal. The setup is counter-service with open seating for breakfast and lunch. I ordered the quarter chicken plate while it was photogenic, the flavor was essentially standard rotisserie and the hummus came with a confusingly small amount of veggies. My group enjoyed the breakfast plate. The breakfast sandwich was decent and the yolk was runny though they ran out of pain au lait for the bread and subbed it with sourdough. On a high note, the olive oil honey latte was delicious definitely get it hot for the full flavor profile though mine was served in a glass and arrived lukewarm. For dessert, skip the French silk pie and the pain au chocolat, get the pistachio blackberry tart instead. Overall, it's a beautiful spot for different size groups, but the value isn't there given the high price point and service gaps we won't be back. read more

Too expensive for what they offer. The charred egg that was added to my avocado toast was way overcooked and there wasn't much of the egg white left. And it wasn't the first time they overcooked my egg when I asked for the runny yolk but fully cooked egg white. Their wheelchair accessible lift was a really scary experience for my baby and it has to be operated by staff, I wish I could be able to ask them to carry the stroller up and down the steps instead. They would have been better off with a ramp. read more

The food was delicious, Between 6 of us, we had a variety and every dish was excellent. The only negative was the kitchen was slow and not all dinners came out at the same time. It was a busy night so we are not holding it against them . We will return. read more

I came by here once when they first opened for a couple drinks and was thinking I'd come back to try their food sometime and finally got the chance! Came by here for a weekday lunch with some friends and got a few dishes to share. We got A Very Green Salad, Crushed Tomato Margherita Pizza, and Mafaldine Pasta. All the dishes were sooo good! I am not a huge salad person but wow this salad I would definitely get this again!!! And recommend it to others. The pizza was light and crisp and flavorful. The pasta also was really unique tasting and we really enjoyed it. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal here and would come back again! read more

I've dined at Wildland for a quick lunch (for 2) and for dinner (group of 6). LUNCH: service was great and straightforward. You order at the counter and help yourself to self seating. We split a Nduja pizza and salad. Both were delicious! DINNER: my family was in town and we wanted to impress.
