Maple Fried Chicken Sandwich | IG @moniquedao

This place is pretty chill and conveniently in the middle of a beachy downtown of Carlsbad. My BF had the Maple Fried Chicken Sandwich and said it was good. I had a bite and thought it was crunchy and flavorful. I had the Shorehouse Cheeseburger and it was good as well. I was glad that it came with fresh onions, lettuce and tomatoes. I can't have burgers without these things! I LOVE the skinny fries that came with the burger! I asked our server where they order it from and she actually went back to the kitchen to get that info for me. So nice of her/them to give me this info! Overall recommend!

Five Stars and then some for the outstanding service, food, and the beach vibe. My sister and I wandered into this place for breakfast one morning and we were so happy and pleased with our experience. Our server Ray was really the best. She was helpful and so nice. We sat on the outdoor patio and the weather was pristine. We just sat there and enjoyed watching the palms sway. We were here for breakfast and it was such a tasty breakfast. As my sister stated, she could feel the love the chef had for the food he was making us and it was so true. Every bite was hot, the hash browns were so cooked just right. The freshly squeezed orange juice was sunshine in a glass! Parking can be rough as their lot is very small so you may find yourself driving around a bit to find a spot. You are right next to the Carlsbad Train Station. I definitely recommend dining here and I know I will be back next time I am in the area.

This is always the perfect breakfast spot in Carlsbad. Whether you're craving something indulgent like their variety of pancakes and benny's or you're wanting something on the lighter side, like an egg white omelette or açaí bowl, there are a plethora of delicious options! The service is always friendly and prompt and the setting is coastal casual so I always feel comfortable coming in from a walk on the beach. The beautiful patio is a great location for a birthday brunch as well. My 4 year old became best friends with our server Brittany. We will be back multiple times!

I've been coming here since it opened and it never disappoints! The wait staff is friendly and they really hustle here. I've had many things on the menu here and have enjoyed them all! The Mediterranean Egg White Omelette is one of my favorites. It has olives and feta cheese with quinoa, mushrooms, and pine nuts stuffed inside. Delicious! It's open air seating and dogs are allowed. They even have a dog menu. My dog loves it here too! Definitely one of the best breakfast restaurants in Carlsbad! Worth the wait to be seated.

Everything here sounded so good and its really a cute place but honestly disappointing. Pretty sure my dog liked his doggy dish more than we liked our food. The short ribs in the hash thing were decently fatty, otherwise pretty good on their own. The hashbrowns on both plates tasted very chemically? Im not sure how to describe it it was not a pleasant taste. Eggs were cooked well though! The cornbread and pork was good on that benedict also. My dog did really love his egg whites and chicken and I think its really cute to give him that!! Very dog friendly place. Server seemed uninterested which is fine but another table was sat served and left before we even got our food. Not sure if we will return :/

With our little dog in tow, we scored a table at this busy restaurant. We've dined here many times and it's been very good in the past. On this visit we ordered: * Classic Eggs Benedict: $18.75 * Shorehouse Cheese Burger: $17.50 Our waiter was pleasant and brought out a bowl of water for our dog. And considering it was busy, our food arrived quickly. The Eggs Benedict was tasty, the eggs were perfectly poached. The ham was very salty and smoky. The side of potatoes were way too cool. The burger was ordered medium rare, but arrived medium. The roll was too large for the burger. I ate this as an open face sandwich. The side of fries were crispy, but cool. I wouldn't order a burger here again. I do appreciate how dog friendly this place is, they even have a little doggie menu. That said, the noise volume is high, with loud background music and the busy patrons chatting, and potatoes should be warm and fries hot. Overall, it was okay, not great.

Visited Shorehouse Kitchen for brunch with another couple and had a great overall experience. We joined the waitlist ahead of time, and the hostess was kind enough to seat our friends who arrived earlier so we could all sit together. The cappuccino was solid (better than your typical breakfast spot), and the orange juice was especially fresh and delicious. I ordered the California omelet--really tasty and a reasonable portion. Others had the pistachio multigrain benedict and classic benedict, all well enjoyed. Service was a standout. Dalton was super attentive and thoughtful--quick to adjust the heater when we mentioned it was warm and great about checking in and refilling coffee. It's a busy, lively spot with classic breakfast options and a few twists. Not overly trendy, but done well. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. 4 stars

Quinoa, Roasted Pear & Pomegranate Salad-so flavorful!

Went to Shorehouse for my friend's birthday. We shared the Pear & Pancetta flatbread (soooooo good!). I loved the Quinoa, Roasted Pear & Pomegranate Salad. I love sitting outside on the patio...a true relaxing experience. We did tell them it was my friend's birthday but they didn't give us a chance to order a dessert for her as the kitchen had closed but they didn't warn us. That was the only hiccup.

Shorehouse is located right in downtown Carlsbad, and it definitely stays busy. I really appreciated that it's family-friendly, and the presentation of the food was great. Service was friendly and accommodating, and even the patrons around us were pleasant. As for the food, it was just okay for me. I ordered their Benedict, which looked beautiful, but the bread was mushy and the flavors didn't come together well. It was disappointing since it's supposed to be their signature dish. My sister ordered the chilaquiles, and that dish was actually really tasty. My son loved their hash browns and the fruits.

Shore House Kitchen holds a truly special place in my heart because it is one of my absolute favorite brunch spots in all of North County. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu ... I have never, not once, had a bad meal here. The short rib Cardiff Crack Benedict is probably my personal favorite thing on the menu (it is unreal), but please also order the giant dirty cinnamon roll. Get one to share with your whole table. You will not regret it. The avocado toast, the burritos, the Benedicts.. it's all just so good. They have an extensive drink menu with unique lattes, and the patio is dog-friendly, which I love. The only little challenge is that it's first-come, first-served, so it can get busy, but it is absolutely worth the wait. Just go. Go right now if you can.

I always enjoy dining at Shorehouse. We got lucky one Saturday and didn't have to wait. Normally, we plan ahead and join their waitlist, since they don't allow reservations. The atmosphere is comforting and cozy, making for a relaxing dining experience. My Fruit Granola Yogurt was delicious, and my husband loved his Angus Short Rib & Hash Brown Potato Cakes. I paired mine with fresh orange juice and Sweet Orange Spice Black Tea. They offer loose-leaf teas, which is a nice touch. My husband ordered a tasty black coffee. They even have a dog menu. We've ordered from it in the past, and our fur baby enjoyed the Brunch Bark Bowl. There is a dedicated parking lot for visitors, which is a big plus since most businesses in Carlsbad Village only offer street parking or public lots scattered throughout the area. Come visit them.

this is a sad and jarring tale of two visits. the wife and kid ate here the day before I joined them for a late brunch and raved about the place. totally different experience the very next day. the ROASTED TOMATO and GOAT CHEESE FLATBREAD with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, pine nuts, fresh basil, mozzarella and parmesan cheese was pretty good. uneven ingredient distribution and most of my slice was crust but when you dine out with a nineteen-year-old boy, the order of the day is the quick and the hungry. had a bite of the wife unit's THAI CHICKEN SALAD (Napa cabbage, romaine, edamame, carrots, celery, bell pepper, peanuts, and cilantro with a sesame-peanut dressing). a sad rendition of one of my favorite salads. flat and flavorless with a definitely not fresh flavor and visual profile. the boy, who raved about the cabernet-braised ANGUS SHORT RIB with hash brown potato cakes and two eggs over easy he'd eaten the day before, waded sullenly through his STEAK FRITES and declared he'd NEVER order that again ... there is absolutely nothing nice to say about my LJ BURGER (Angus ground beef, goat cheese, honey-cured bacon, fig spread, caramelized onions, and arugula with whole-grain dijon) except that it sounded great on paper but was inedible on my plate. ordered medium rare, my burger arrived WAY past done. the meat was dry, dense, tough, and chewy -- easily the worst burger I've ever had. fortunately, SHOREHOUSE KITCHEN has a dog friendly patio and mine ate most of my brunch. truly a nasty experience. the second star's a nod to the fam's eats the day before.

    Do they take reservations?

They have a waitlist/queue you can get put on via Yelp to save your place in line. This helps cut the wait. Not sure if you have a larger party (7+) I would call them first

    Is there a kids menu?

    Yes and dog menu:)

What are the vegan brunch items?

They don't have a vegan section on the menu but I'm pretty sure they will accommodate you or customize your order.

Are there a reserved area for costumers who are allergic to dogs?

I'm not 100% sure but I didn't see one. There were quite a few dogs when I've been there in both the La Jolla and Carlsbad locations. However, most of the seating is outside....

Are your cornmeal pancakes gluten-free? Do you have any gluten-free waffles for gluten-free French toast?

Are you taking reservations for Mother's Day?

This restaurant does not take reservations but you can put yourself on the YELP wait list and that helps big time. Just "join" a good hour before you want to be seated, check in in person and you won't have the long wait. Best breakfast ever!!!…

Can we reserve a day or two before?

We did the waitlist on Yelp the same day around 8 am. It ask for our preferred time and party. It gave us out estimated time to check in & number on the list. We got there maybe 10 minutes before our check-in time to notify the hostess. We probably…

Do they have bottomless Mimosas on the weekend?

When I went it wasn't an option.... but maybe they have since added that to the menu.

Do they take reservations for Saturday mornings?

    No they don't

Are they still dog friendly while the Covid restrictions are going on?

    Yes as of 9/21

Are menu items organic or non-GMO?

    Most of them are organic!

Are dogs allowed in the outside seating area?

    Yes they are!

Do they have gluten free options?

Lots of things they serve are naturally gluten free so I usually go that route instead of substitutions. They offer gluten free bread, so anything with bread or toast is covered with a gluten free option there.
