My boyfriend and I enjoyed visiting the Wildlife Learning Center, however, we were a bit disappointed that most of the animals were not available for viewing. This could have been due to the hot weather. I feel that ticket prices could have been lowered as some guests may come to see particular animals that can not be seen that day. Hidden right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Would have easily driven right past it if it wasn't for my GPS. It's a small place and can easily be completed in an hour. Not a huge assortment of animals but great value for the price of admission. We stopped here for the sloths, the sloth experience and it was amazing to be right next to them, take pictures up close, and even pet one of them. Staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We held our daughters 3rd birthday and couldn't ask for a better experience. The setting was perfect and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. It was very easy - we brought snacks, drinks and cake; then ordered pizza from guidos nearby; and of course the animals were the highlight. I unfortunately forget our tour guides name, however, her tour was unforgettable. I think her name may be Lea. Anyways, she was very knowledgeable about the all of the animals and you can tell she had a relationship with each one, with knowing how "close she can get" with understanding their animal needs and space. It was really nice to feel that energy of doing what is best for the animal. I can truly respect the balance of wanting to provide a good experience while maintaining the comfort of the animals. I booked this experience for my nieces 8th bday gift. She is obsessed with sloths. When I say obsessed, I mean that her entire room is sloth themed and she even had a 7th bday sloth themed party. My purpose of those experience was solely for the sloth, but we all got so much more out of the experience. It was was intimate, safe (they followed covid protocols) and our guide was very patient with the pace we needed or having two young children who eyes wander (and the adults who easily got distracted as well). It was a great trip. Easy parking and super nice staff. I will be booking again with my friends. read more

A small but up-close zoo with a wide variety of animals. You can easily see the whole thing in 45 minutes to an hour. This place does good work- they take in sick, abandoned, or illegally-kept animals and give them a good home. Excellent for smaller kids who can't walk the miles and miles it takes to do the LA Zoo - and they get a really good look at the animals. Been taking my kids here for years. read more

This place is amazing and my only regret is that I didn't come sooner. Came here for a birthday party and we had a great time! We got to walk around the center and see all the different animals. They had squirrel monkeys, lemurs, an alligator and even a sloth! For the birthday party we got our own private show where they brought out different animals for us to see and touch. My grandson had a birthday party, 4 year old and it was special fun for everyone, you bring your own treats and you walk around the different animals. The staff is helpful and does a presentation of some animals. My 11 year old granddaughter went for a week camp, she loves animals, enjoyed being close to the wildlife, they did some arts and crafts, picked animal to present at the end of the session. The good: Animals were active and cool to observe. The center has a unique blend of creatures and majority were rescued and brought back to health. For the most part, the grounds are pretty and well-maintained with surrounding flowers and plants. The bad: Staff are cold, unwelcoming and show zero interest in you. When we walked into the shop to purchase tickets, the employee behind the desk didn't say one word or greet us, not a hello, enjoy your visit, thanks, nothing. It was odd and awkward especially with my three kids standing there. She couldn't even smile at them. And same interaction when we left. We thanked her and said goodbye. She didn't say we hope you enjoyed your time, thanks for donating to us, bye, nada. People these days are less inclined to spend on frivolous experiences especially if it's for 30-45 minutes. Luckily the animals are the highlight and we aren't coming here to be friends with the employees, but still, those employed there could at least acknowledge the patrons by saying the standard hello and hope to see you again, which could make the visit even more pleasant and worthwhile. read more

I've always seen the famous giraffe off the freeway like everyone else but my wife and I recently took our daughter here and it was fun! It's small and intimate which is fun for the kids to get a closer look at the animals. You can easily see everything in an hour but you'll want to do a few rounds to really get the vibe. read more

We came here for the Zoofari tour and loved it. Our tour guide was very informative, and we enjoyed meeting the snake. It was great hearing the story behind each animal. Overall, we were so impressed with the center. It was so clean and pretty. The people working there do a great job maintaining it. There was a great overall atmosphere and cute gift shop. What a small and unassuming yet surprising place. I was fully anticipating local animals but they had quite a few exotic residents. Many of whom were out and about and clearly unaffected by human presence. It won't take long to explore but given that it was so close, it was just perfect. I think if I made this a destination and drive from afar, I would have been disappointed. In a year filled with icky events, I needed something to smile about. I found the answer here at WLC ....porcupines. Specifically, feeding porcupines. Brought my family for a private tour. Our tour guide was excellent...she was a plethora of information about every single animal on the premises. Those animals included: a giraffe, sloths, bald eagles, squirrel monkeys, an alligator, huge desert tortoises, fennec foxes, bobcats, a python, plenty of owls, beautiful macaws, ring tailed lemurs, prairie dogs and more. All splendid and glorious. But onto the porcupines. They are so cute! If you can swing it, I highly recommend paying to see an animal up close. And your money is going to a great cause. Anyway, the porcupines were so sweet! You offer them a carrot and they gently take it from you and munch away. The one I fed had the most hilarious facial expressions. The whole family got a big kick out of this experience. Fun fact from our tour guide: porcupines have orange teeth, but not from all the carrots they love to eat. Their teeth are orange due to iron in their teeth enamel. Loved how the staff is extremely careful and vigilant in following COVID safety protocols. I had a negative experience a few weeks ago at a different venue and had to leave early because the host didn't enforce mask-wearing and social distancing. That's not the case at WLC, so if you bring your family, you will feel safe and comfortable here. This place is a huge pick-me-up and I highly recommend visiting and supporting the WLC. Amazing place for children and family would come here again in a heartbeat. My daughter loved seeing the giraffe

A hidden gem in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. A rescue center for wildlife that had either been injured or owned illegally in deplorable conditions. Now these animals are well cared for, kept in habitats that are clean, well maintained, and in a beautiful setting resembling their natural habitats. We saw bald eagles being fed rats. We paid an additional $25 to visit with an armadillo, pet him, and watch him being fed worms and banana chips. We saw owls, a one-winged red tailed hawk, two-toed sloths, porcupines, tiny monkeys, an alligator, a variety of wildcats, and others. A injured giraffe lives there too, in a more secluded environment and his own area. You can pay extra for different animal experiences, like visiting with a sloth or giraffe or feeding a porcupine. The admission fee is very reasonable, and it's an educational experience. It is meaningful to see animals that would otherwise be suffering now being so well loved. read more

We got the adventure tour and it's totally worth it! You not only get the perk of the interaction (we did the hedgehog which was a very chill experience so perfect if you have kids), but you interact with other animals including the porcupine which was so cool! Our guide (Val I believe) was great and answered all our questions. She also took photos of us and really let us enjoy our time with the animals. Came here for the Adventure Tour with my kids. SO much better than going to a zoo, loved hearing the stories behind all the animals and how they were rescued. We were introduced to all the animals, but were able to get up close to a sloth, porcupine, and tortoises. We also got to pet an armadillo and a snake. The facility is clean, well-kept, and staff were constantly visible tending to the animals, feeding and cleaning enclosures. Highly recommend!! read more

Wildlife Learning Center needs to be on every parents list to visit and every nearby schools' field trip schedule. Why? To stress the importance of animals in their natural habitats - no matter how close they encounter humans in theirs. Many of these animals have been illegally taken in as "pets." Some were found injured in the wild and spared euthanasia. The staff is great to talk to when they aren't busy. Every hour on the hour they have an animal (usually an amphibian) out for you to pet and chat with them about. Larger vehicles - just park along the wooden fence on the street. We had such a great experience at the Wildlife Learning Center. The creatures are of course super cute, and the backstories for how they arrived create empathy and interest beyond nature facts. I was shocked to enjoy this tiny spot more than the San Diego Zoo. We sprung for the private tour with five animal encounters and it was worth every penny (plus great to know that those pennies are going to a great cause). I really wanted to love this place but it was pretty disappointing. We got a Groupon deal of $29 for 4 people, which is a half off of their regular price. Even that seems way too expensive. I don't support zoo and I wanted to give this place a try since they are all rescued animals. I was really excited to have more interactive experience and for wildlife talks they offer for guests to learn about their animals. But no one was doing it on the day we went. We asked the front desk about it and someone was supposed to do the wildlife talk for us, but nobody came. So we just left. It took us about 20 mins to see everything. Some people that were there only stayed like 10 mins, lol. We just decided to think that we donated some money to them. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Super wonderful for kids. I had been here before on a tour with a school I used to work at and was just recently here for a birthday party. We loved working around and seeing all the animals. I really appreciate that many of the animals are older and are considered "seniors" for their age. My son loved looked at the porcupine. During the party, we attended a 45 minute animals show and got to meet all the animals. We got to touch some of them. Touching the snake was our favorite. Can't wait to come back! read more

Came here and I was very disappointed with how small the cages are for animals, they don't have space to run around. I would think that an animal sanctuary would have better spaces for the animals they are taking care of coming here made me extremely emotional after seeing a porcupine in distress he was making noises going in circles in one of the small enclosed areas. I'm sure the people who run this place like animals but maybe they should use some of the money to invest on more space for the animals rather than the people coming here to see the animals (like the big areas people have to walk through make those more narrow and provide more space for the animals in captivity) the fox space near the giraffe is pretty small that fox can not roam around freely my 8 pound Pomeranian runs and he needs much more space than what that poor fox is provided I felt worse coming here than a zoo it's seems like the zoo has more space for the animals Also on another review the people who work here commented on how they meet the minimum requirement for space for the animals in captivity I would argue other wise They charge $100 to touch a sloth Come on use that money for more space go above and beyond for these animals not just the barre minimum of space required read more

This place is a hidden gem. I've lived in Pacoima since 1968. Never knew about this place. It's very well kept, the animals all look to be very healthy and well cared for. A small animal learning zoo fairly easy to find south of the 210 freeway off the exit of Yarnell. It is in a residential area in Sylmar which might be why it is smaller. We got a Groupon deal that was $16 for four people after an additional discount they gave so pretty good deal. We visited on Saturday afternoon around 2 PM, the very small parking lot was full so we parked on the street and walked in. Admissions is in one of the two trailers (right) as you walk in. We had a total group of three adults and five kids ranging in ages. We watched a demonstration and discussion of some of the animals which was informative and then after walked through the area and saw the various wildlife. There were a number that I hadn't seen before even though I have been to a number of zoos before. All in all I would say that this experience was good, I wish it was a little bigger but enjoyed what we saw. read more
