Pleasantly surprised by the mountain biking offered in sayulita. The rental bikes aren't some 5 star build boutique brand, they are entry-mid level builds that have some signs of wear on them, as you would expect from any rental place and were more than adequate. The guys in the shop took the time to get me fitted to the bike and made any adjustments needed without hesitation. They also provided a nice newer helmet(several to choose from). I rode a few days while there, a mix of gravel around town and the single track ride over to San pancho. The trails are found on the trail forks app. Any competent mountain biker would be fine. If I could do it over again I would probably have hired the guide for half the day, just so I wasn't having to stop and get my phone out at every trail intersection. They were building new trails and I look forward to headed back down there asap.. read more

We decided to get some surf lessons since we are from cold WA & surfing is not our thing. We spoke with a local shop owner & he recommended this location. We walked in day of and was able to get lessons within 1hr. We didn't want to do the class and for $10 more each our family of 4 had our own private instructor named Sebastian who was so patient and encouraging. My son and daughter got up each a few times and my husband did as well. It was for two hours which was plenty. He gave instruction, held board to help catch wave, and gave so many pointers. We would have been lost without him. It was definitely worth the cost and the shirts were nice and made it easy to see the family in the water as well as our instructor. I recommend them and their facility was nice and it was such an awesome experience. read more

I had an incredible surf camp experience at WildMex! Ok my coach helped me get used to a new surf spot and i broke through so many beginner plateaus and blocks in my session. Still cannot say enough good things about WildMex. Second trip to Sayu because they are the best in the biz. I say that with experience with 6 different surf companies in 3 different countries. I learn and advance more with WildMex in just a few days than I do in weeks with other surf schools. The instruction, specifically Roberto, is top-tier. He's very detailed with his critique and instruction in terms of technique, and talented when it comes to teaching. He's very mindful of where I am in the water at all times, being cautious to keep me safe and out of harm's way. This trip to Sayu, I lost my phone and luckily had my computer, so I was able to communicate with them through FB messenger. They are very responsive and wickedly helpful. I was able to arrange a trip with WildMex to Puerto Vallarta to secure a new phone. Not only did they give me recommendations in terms of different price points for different modes of transportation, they set up my transportation to get me there safely and quickly after my surf session. When I returned from my surf lesson, Roca (Erick - WildMex owner/operator) offered me a free ride to Puerto Vallarta with one of his employees who was headed in that direction (shoutout to Laura - HR manager, sweetest soul). Not only that, my instructor who lives in Puerto Vallarta, escorted me the entire way, helped translate at the Mac store when my limited Spanish wasn't adequate, and arranged for a cab to take me back to Sayu safely. He even checked in to make sure I made it home in one piece. Honestly, WildMex is worth every bit of penny I spend with them and I am so grateful to have found a company that has not only helped me excel as a surfer in such a little bit of time, but also a company whose employees are eager to help with not just surf-related things, but anything I need while in Sayulita. My daughter and I did a 4 day surf camp with WildMex and we had such a wonderful time. Our instructor Alex was a great teacher. Getting surf lessons at Wildmex was my favorite activity in Puerto Vallarta. We grabbed an Uber from puerto Vallarta to the wild mex shop at la plancha, about an hours ride. There is also a public bus you can take if you feel comfortable. The instructor Jose was AWESOME. He gave us instructions and walked us through everything and we were actually 'riding waves' by the end of the first hour and practicing the second hour. Yes small waves but waves nonetheless!! It was super fun and this is a great spot to do this based on the easy access and fairly calm waves. I think instructions on the website could be better. We were a little confused and thought we could get a staff pickup if we paid for it but it turns out that is only in Sayulita. The front desk staff seemed a little surprised to see us even if we had reservations. I also recommend that everybody take their sunscreen out to the beach w them. We didn't and so couldn't reapply and the backs of our legs got pretty crispy. There's a restaurant next door that is magical. I'll be reviewing them separately but it's a great spot to recoup after a strenuous morning in the ocean. GREAT EXPERIENCE THANK YOU read more

We rented the Performance package for the week. It was great. You had an option of trying different boards or using the same board everyday. The staff were excellent offering advice, getting your boards out at arrival and putting the board away of a night. Also offering a towel after showering. The great part if you stay in Sayulita you can use the boards in town. This saves you transporting your board around. Amazing Staff, great vibes, go give them a try. read more

I surfed all week in Sayulita and rented my board here every day, upon the recommendation of my hotel. The staff was great and they had a very wide selection of boards, anywhere from foam longboards, to epoxy (Walden, etc) to selection of all-wood performance FireWire boards. They rent by the hour or by the day. I rented a 9'6" Walden epoxy longboard, perfect for knee to waist-high waves, for a couple hours every day, and the staff was generous with my time ($7/hour, or they take pesos). The inside of the shop is very clean and air conditioned. They have storage boxes for your stuff, an outside shower, towels and a bathroom. It was perfect! read more

Surfed two days out of the La Lancha store. Octavio coached one son, and myself and another son all enjoyed the break at Stinkys and then La Lancha. Octavio was fantastic with my youngest, drove us all to Stinkys with boards in the back, and had two non-surfing family members with us. Then walked the short distance to La Lancha the next day. Would have liked to surf every day but we were coming over from PV. Can Uber from there but need to have pesos and take a cab back because Uber doesn't operate in Nayarit. Everyone at wildmex was great, and so were the waves. Extensive selection of boards for rent. Wonderful to have these people here helping with the stoke. My whole experience was great...however... my surf instructor Kaylee was phenomenal! (So amazing that I'm spending time on Vacation to write a review!). She was super informative and personable...the best though is she's your biggest cheerleader! Every time I got up on the board she was cheering and clapping! During our 2 month stay in Sayulita, we took 5 lessons at Wildmex with Dana who I can't recommend enough. We liked her so much the first time that we requested her for all of our lessons. She has a deep understanding of the ocean due to her background in physics and wave energy which she shared with us. With her guidance, I grew from a novice surfer who had only surfed a handful of times to feeling confident and powerful in the water. As a woman, it was also important to me to have a female surf instructor who understood how to use your energy more efficiently and effectively. She is also extremely professional, helpful, patient and concerned about safety. She is an encyclopedia of knowledge of the physics of waves and what to look for when spotting waves, a critical skill for a beginner. She has given me a greater understanding of the ocean and new lifelong love of surfing that I will carry with me back home. read more

I can't say enough good things about Wild Mex. From the first few days of securing my booking with Elizabeth and Dianna, to arrival and help figuring out some special logistics through to 4 great days of surfing with Octavio and Augustine- we had a blast. The entire operation is incredibly well run. Customer service is impeccable and every person is friendly and genuine. My time with Octavio was priceless. I reached my goals of improving my surfing and was continually impressed with his gentle, intuitive nature. I felt safe, cared for, and encouraged... And most importantly had a smile on my face the whole time. Elma, our photographer, was not only a great bonus to have from the perspective of learning and having great memories... She herself was a great joy. Every person I dealt with made me feel like family and part of a larger whole. There was always a hug from Elizabeth when I arrived back at base, and she and Dianna helped me communicate with my hotel after there had been a few issues. They never made me feel I was being high maintenance or any trouble. Just gracious through and through. I didn't catch everyone else's names, but every single person we encountered was amazing.
