The bus was very nice and our driver/guide was great - she was very talkative and told us so much about the park, wildlife, and nature. She also did a great job spotting all the wildlife and taking plenty of time to allow us to watch the highlights, including bears, moose, birds, and the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately there's an early turn-around point due to a bridge that is being replaced, but we still felt that we got to see more than enough. Highly recommend.

If you get picked up in Denali, you will first get on a bus and travel 27 miles south to a cabin. They take you into the cabin and show you a bunch animal pelts and talk to you about them. They also feed you "beaver tail", which was delicious. After about 40 minutes of talking to you about the local area and the animals, they take you out to the back of the cabin and you spend about 20 minutes panning for gold. Then they show you a replica of a miner's tent. Then you are escorted over to their reindeer and will get the opportunity to feed it. Finally, you get on the jet boat.and go up and down the river. During the ride, the driver stops frequently to talk more. After that, we got back to the cabin, then back on the bus to make the trip to Denali. All of that occurred in slightly under three hours. We didn't seen any wildlife, but that is a hit or miss chance. I hope this review helps you to be informed about your experience with the Denali Wilderness three-hour Jet Boat Tour.

Even though we didn't spot any wildlife, I never once felt like we missed out because the forest itself felt so alive with stories. The pace was comfortable, the views over the Nenana River were beautiful, and I walked away feeling like I had learned far more than I expected. Maybe Denali Backcountry Guides ask everyone at time of booking "This is a strenuous hike covering x miles and y elevation gain. Do you feel capable of making that hike?" I don't know. Just know it is disappointing to book a strenuous hike, then go slowly and only cover half. The guide was knowledgeable and the hike was good. With a different group of hikers, it would be 5 star.
