Absolutely wonderful visitor center. They have a little complex area with the visitor center, a nice shop store, a restaurant, and a little quick shop. Subsequently, this complex is also one of the major bus stops for all the big Denali companies. Visitor center is large with plenty of information. Weather was a factor in our visit, so the rangers were able to give us advice on the best hikes we could do during our visit. Nice bathrooms, and if I recall, a water bottle refill station as well. Definitely stop by for some planning and information while visiting Denali NP. read more

This place is a must visit on your trip to Denali National Park. There were many knowledgeable rangers on hand to answer questions and to lead the ranger talks. If you can, I highly recommend queueing up for the bus ride to the park's sled dog kennels. The rangers let you meet the dogs and give a talk, followed by a demonstration. There are lots of different passport stamps available to collect, as well as a Junior ranger program. read more

Seeing this museum about Denali and its native people and wildlife was a nice surprise on the snowy mountain. There was a lot of good information, and Rangers will answer questions. Denali national park in Alaska is one of the top 25 places to visit in the United States before you die type of thing. Denali is named after the native name of the mountain, after it was initially named Mount McKinley and it changed after that. I was fortunate to make this trip to Denali national park, as a part of my 10 day Alaskan adventure tour in May 2018 and June 2018. The landscape here is very beautiful and scenic. Although not really lush and green due to the changing of the seasons here in interior Alaska, the Alaskan mountain ranges were very beautiful and had snow still on them as late as June. Even Denali herself was covered in snow and ice because I have learned that it's cold out there all year round. Denali herself look like a giant blue and white snow ball of a mountain when you look at her at a distance. I happened to take in Denali national park in two separate trips, just because I did not have time for the bus tour on the first go around. On this first go around to Denali national park, I visited the visitor center And made arrangements to do the bus tour at a later date before returning to Anchorage. For the most part though the visitor center is a quaint one-story building with a basement that teacher is a lot of exhibits showcasing the spender and magnificence of the park itself. First thing as I parked in the parking lot, is that there is plenty of people here. I'm sure that this parking I can't hold over 100 parking spots at any given time of day, if not more. Even they have a special section for tour buses as well. The sprawling campus at the Dinali national park also features a place to eat lunch and restroom facilities for those who need them. I did enjoy taking photos and learning about the park itself and asking questions where I need it to about the park. It was educational as well as being a Tereus that keeps life interesting and for filled at the same time. The overall experience here at the Denali national park-visitor center was as good as it can get. I spent about an hour and a half to two hours in the visitor center itself, discovering stuff that I did not realize that existed in the park. I did know that bears roam the land here and best bet is to keep away from them as much as possible. They except major credit cards, which is always a good thing. Why would they do not make bus tour arrangements at this building, they do take payments for park entrance fees, which is $10 per person. If you have those annual national park passes, then they would be at the lower fare or complementary. The parking here can be quite maddening, but just come here early and you should find a parking spot before everyone else does. Best bet is to come here early come with a tour group for convenience. The main visitor center building is maintained by the nice people at the National Park Service. It is quite clean and it attracts many people across the USA and Canada daily. For the most part though, my visit to the Dinali national park visitor center was an educational one. I enjoyed myself here, even though I did not do the bus tour for the first time, but I kept my 7 day entrance fee receipt and did that 8 hour bus tour to the isolated visitors center on my way back towards Anchorage a few days later. My favorite part of the exhibits was reading the informational panels as well as taking in the short informational video that they had about the park. It was nice knowing about the history of the founding of the park as well as seen those stuffed animals keeping watch on everyone. It was cool to see the bear outside the building and I managed to take a selfie with it before heading back to the car. Wow I did not have lunch at the national Park facilities cafeteria, it was nice to see many of the parks visitors eating and socializing in that building. I would like to recommend coming here before embarking on the bus tour. It was recommended to me that you should have allotted maybe a good 12 to 15 hours of the day to do everything, if your time in Denali area is short. For me though I had it pretty good considering that I could come back to do the bus tour on a separate day versus seeing everything at one time. Come stay a while and you'll be delighted that you come. Its Denali! 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Great Visitor's Center. It has rangers to answer questions, a nice display room, and the very important bathrooms. It is conveniently co-located near the snack bar, the bookstore/gift shop, and the bus pickup area. There is a nearby area for ranger talks; though they were all cancelled during our visit because of air quality from wildfires in the area. Not sure why all the great reviews. The rangers seem most interested in booking people for the $$ tours. The exhibits are tuned to the elementary and middle school crowds and offer little of interest for adults. The entire visitor center complex is a tourist magnet and bristling with humans and their RVs, sunglasses, fanny packs, etc. If you need ranger assistance for a hike, sure, stop here. If you want a tacky, overpriced park souvenir, I will judge you, but sure, stop here. If you are only in Alaska once and toting children, stop here and please supervise them. But if you're an adult on a roadtrip, catch the views of Denali to the south along Highway 3 and then blow right by here on your way north. read more

For those driving in an RV, they have a whole separate parking lot just for you! So that is nice! Just follow the signs. The car parking area is plenty big too. Clustered around the Denali Visitor Center is a book store and a restaurant, and restroom area, all within sight/walking distance. If you're a collector of the National Park Passport Stamps like I am, they are in the Book Store, a short walk to the next building over. The Visitor Center is really organized, and Park Rangers are plentiful and eager to help and answer questions. There are interactive displays showcasing the local wildlife, birds, flora/fauna, landscape, rocks, and a really neat raised relief overview map of the Park. All the "headliners" of the Park are here in life-size replica form, with lots of interesting facts that are not typical, boring facts. I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the displays and exhibits. This is where you would come to get back-country permits and any information you wanted regarding accessing Park areas, animals, bus schedules, hiking information, cycling info, and if your youngsters wanted, they can be "deputized" as Junior Rangers. Adorbs. Denali Visitor Center should be your FIRST stop on your way into the park. It is NOT past any fee entrance station, just drive in. Follow the signs. All the necessary information is here. Park service handouts are in here too, including the new "Summer Guide." A great place to see life-sized replica animals you might just see in person in Denali. This is the resource for all your Denali Park questions and permits. If you're looking for the stamps for your National Park Passport Book, they're at the bookstore NEXT DOOR! Next to the restaurant building. They don't have the rubber stampy-stamp thing, just the stamps for purchase. But there's lots of neat stuff in there. Definite stop. Helpful Park Rangers. Very clean and beautiful - loved the vast amount of trails around the visitor center. The visitor center is very big and clean and up to date. They play video on loop about how to deal with wildlife. Very helpful. They also have a place to eat and get a warm (or cold) drink. And the bus stop and train station is right there too. I really enjoyed browsing the bookstore - there were books and stuffed animals and some mugs, etc. The only thing that frustrated me about the place is the lack of parking. It is slammed packed every time I visit and so hard to find parking. Other than that this place is great! read more

Beware of the tour system. Aramark forces you to buy a non refundable tour and then puts you at the mercy of the cruise lines and other tour groups to be scheduled. So you are told your 7 hour tour may start at 1 or 4 or 6. You get to check and figure out when your start your tour when you show up. Shame on the NPS for allowing the most hated name in concessioners to cave to all the other large corporations and leave individuals out to fend for themselves read more

Excellent Visitor Center. Very spacious airy building, very helfpul rangers and multiple activities throughout the day. Do not miss the 18 minute movie, amazing pictures! The small exhibition gives the idea of abundance of wildlife and is very nice to get acquainted with the animals calling this park home. There is a very nice bookstore and a cafeteria with Starbucks station. The buses start from here and the bus stop area is nicely organized, with clean restrooms and a small convenience store. They even offer luggage storage for the time of the bus tours. The free introduction to dog sleds and kennels is awesome. These Huskies are truly amazing creatures and active Park Rangers! read more
