The entire station seemed to be stuck in 1970 and in dire need of some TLC. Heard the announcement for our train right on time and boarded without issues. One gender neutral bathroom on the train and everything was metal with a sign above the sink that said,"Do not drink the water". The train car was clean except for a few pieces of gum burrowed into the seat cushions. The armrests made me nervous. This was not one of those elite modern fast trains. The 1.4 hour ride was painless. No surprises either and was eerie silent except for me lol.

It has good signage and the restrooms are always filthy yet there is always someone there with a cleaning cart. The cleaner is friendly but obviously does not know how to clean. The security guard is always facing away from the door, where their job is to stop non ticketed people from entering. The movement director on the bus area does a great job of keeping things moving and bus departures on time. If you are going to get on a bas that does not have bathrooms the New Jersey Transit bus stations should have clean safe bathrooms! I couldn't hold my breath long enough to take a photo of the restroom. The cleaning person, everyone one of them are nice people but there is no oversight or management.

The AC to NY leg was never very reliable. But service decayed materially over time. They were constantly late to the point that it was almost NEVER on time. I mean EVER. In NY, there's a big ticket office, so you used to be able to go in and ask WTF was going on. Sometimes, they actually knew. In recent years, the line seems to have just about collapsed. You can't call any number to find out the status of your grossly delayed bus and there are very few places where there are humans at your departure location. Call the 800 number? Can't (actually won't) help you. Don't know anything. It's as if they think you are stupid. It's pretty obvious that they know where every one of their buses are just due to GPS technology. If a valuable bus went missing I promise you they'd know exactly where to find it. It's also common sense to know with absolute certainty that every depot from which buses are dispatched have telephones and actual "dispatchers". Forget about that track my bus tech they have on their site. it will NEVER help you find out why your bus is late or when it will arrive from the point of origin. EVER. Finding out where a one hour late bus is should not be a problem AT ALL. There should be a way to make an 800 call to someone who could call a depot and speak to a dispatcher. BUT NO..... And let's not forget about the condition of the buses. Seats frequently broken. Buses typically filthy. Drivers commonly angry and harsh. I've come to conclude that Greyhound views their typical passenger as lower class powerless people who can't do anything to harm them. And with all the degraded service - fewer buses scheduled included - they nearly doubled the price!!!!! I've found using the government run NJ Transit buses far more satisfying. They are clean and not broken. The WiFi actually works, unlike GH which is hit or miss - mostly miss. They are mostly on time and get you there more reliably even with a stop or two. if they are late, you can find out why and when to expect arrival. they are cheaper. They have a senior discount. I suspect this is what happens when elected officials who are answerable to the people run the line. Unless aggravation and being treated as a subhuman is your bag, stay the heck away from GH. It's a wonder they are still in business.

I live in New York and as I am in university in Baltimore MD, the idea of traveling by bus was appetizing as the tickets weren't too expensive. So I bought a round trip ticket to come home for thanksgiving. I regret using this service with every fiber of my being. The trip back home was beyond disappointing. I spent extra money on an Uber to get to my bus stop on time at 9:45am. They didn't let us board until maybe 10:30 or so. When boarding, an older man I was supposed to sit next to took my window seat and refused to move and nobody did anything about it. Our bus driver for this trip was of horrible quality. She pulled over this huge bus on the side of the road and nearly caused traffic and a few accidents. Her excuse was that she had to get her phone charger, which was directly behind her seat. She also announced that she would not be stopping at Newark , which was supposed to be a stop for this bus for a sizable population of the bus. This was the day before thanksgiving, and of course people were upset that they would be in a different state because the bus driver simply did not want to stop. This caused an outrage in the bus and even the man next to me nearly shoved me out of my seat to go get up and plead with the bus driver along with another man to stop the bus because they had to go see their families. A young boy in the seat across from me frantically began to text his mother and panic because he did not have a way to reach her in time for the holiday. We were also supposed to be in New York at 1:05pm. We didn't arrive until 3:40pm, and while my ticket said arrival was at 3:25, I know what time I walked out of that bus. I have no idea how we skipped a stop and still arrived over 2 hours later than we were supposed to. My trip back to Maryland was ALSO delayed because the driver was seemingly nowhere to be found, again. When I asked the information what the holdup was about they lazily said they have no idea where the driver is. They then went on to tell the passengers of two other buses that their buses were also delayed and would not give them any updates. How can a big company like this not have backup driver or something similar? Had this only happened to my bus I may have neglected to comment about it but apparently this is a normal thing for greyhound, which is unprofessional and unethical. I am currently on the way back to Baltimore as I am writing this as well. Our driver just screamed over the speaker at a passenger to turn some kind of light off in a rude tone. She also commented that she has no problem pulling the bus over and could care less because she "gets paid by the hour". My seat is also very small and uncomfortable and is causing me pain. For reference, I am 5'2" and relatively in good shape. We are behind schedule two hours again . I am beyond disgusted with this service and the people that work for this joke of a company, I've never witnessed someone be so flagrantly crude to people who they have never met. I will be using another mode of transportation, even if it costs me triple of what I paid for this service. If you value your time or have things to do, Greyhound is NOT the way to go.

I am always so happy to see historical buildings saved, especially when it comes to trains. The demolition of NYC's Penn Station for Madison Square Garden is a travesty that hurts my heart so I appreciate that this station, which was once a station for the Pennsylvania Railroad, is still in tact. However, the station is showing some wear and tear and would benefit from a facelift. With Philly hosting FIFA World Class Soccer, the MLB All Star games and other events for America's 250th, I thought maybe there would be some renovations to the station. Unfortunately, the food court is closed so the only options for food and drinks are Dunkin Donuts and a newspaper stand. There is an ongoing renovation but I can't tell exactly what has been done. i will say, it was nice to see the station from about a block away - the exterior is lovely. The trains all board under the station so it's convenient that you don't have to walk too far to get on your train like you would at a stub-end station. For those needing assistance, Amtrak offers a "Red Cap" service. Getting down the escalators and down the platform can be a bit of survival of the fittest so asking for help will get you escorted down the elevator to your train car without battling the masses. Red Cap will also take care of your bags. The waiting room is large as are the bathrooms. They also have some nice exhibits about the station and its artwork. I'm looking forward to returning to see how the renovations turned out. I am hoping that the food court will reopen and maybe even offer some local eateries.
