The places are trashy, carpets sticky, and the a/c didn't work. The pool area is about 150 degrees and the hot tub feels like you are a lobster in a boiling pot of water. the pool fountain on the ceiling looks like it could fall down any minute. My husband and I love staying at unique hotels and when I saw the Happy Days Suite I knew my husband would love it. I looked past the poor reviews of the hotel and I am happy I did because we both loved the room. I wrote this about the Happy Days Suite on my Instagram: Stretch your legs out and watch a movie at your own personal "drive-in" from a '59 Cadillac Convertible (that's also your bed for the evening), soak in a jacuzzi tub while admiring the Marilyn Monroe etched mirror above you or role play as Joanie and Chachi with your spouse because there's also a 50's diner in your room! A phone booth, an old school water fountain, a jukebox - this unique hotel room is just oozing with nostalgia! The front desk clerk was super helpful as well. My husband is a taller guy and as soon as we walked up to check in he suggested we try the bed out in our room to make sure he was comfortable in it. I thought that was very kind. We didn't have any problems during our stay. Sure it could use some updating but we are able to look past minor flaws and enjoy the hotel for what it was. As much as these theme rooms are, I would think they could fix up the rest of the rooms. Went to sleep woke up bc omg, ROACHES crawling on me and when I called the office, they didn't say anything! Not sorry, not surprised, I asked to go to another room, cause it was late and empty, she acted like she couldn't do that, but finally did! The Foreigner was Very Mean and seemed like he likes to argue with his customers!! He threatened to charge us $25 if we didn't leave in 10 minutes!! We was wanting to stay another night and he said we couldn't because we had stayed four nights!! WHAT kind of motel is this that doesn't allow their customers to stay when all the rooms are empty!! The mean Foreigner yelled at us and said he was going to call the police on us and then when we get home we found out he did charges another $25 per 10 minutes we stayed there!! The girl that works from 3:00 to midnight was the nicest person you probably could ever meet in his whole world and all the other girls and a Young Guy were very very nice to us!! I really wish I could rate this a 0/10 because it's not worth the $400 rounding total for two rooms, two nights, and four adults for the incredible lousy rooms with slanted lamps ready to fall down and smash on the floor. The switch to the one lamp wasn't working at all, and the bathroom wasn't even big at all for space and comfort. There was a gigantic width span of a sink but what sink? I mean come on there was PLENTY of ROOM for two or three sinks but only one sink at the far other end of the counter. There was no Holy Bible ready to go in the drawers beneath the two lamps between the two beds which I thought was really, really disrespectful to not have at a motel. You should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have the HOLY BIBLE with your MOTEL or HOTEL room!! The beds were AWFUL and the bed sheets and blankets were SO TIGHT you can HARDLY pull them towards you when you want to get comfy or should I say trying to barely get comfy!!!! Basic TVs, not even decent Smart TVs like Roku or TCL or something of the sort. The Family and I went to go see the Arc Encounter which was beautiful and a sight to behold. It was amazing but after returning to the motel after 8 HOURS, not a single person did room service to make the beds, take the trash out, or anything of the sort. NO ROOM SERVICE!! We LITERALLY had to go tell the front desk that nobody came to us for room service. The guy who I believe was the manager tried telling us that we didn't know which sign to face out the door. We made sure to put the side of the sign that says Room Service instead of Do Not Disturb. They told us that they SKIPPED US!?!?!?.....WHAT?!?!?..... You skipped our rooms for room service after EIGHT HOURS BEING OUT?!?!?! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!! I asked for a discount off the total but no response, of course they got someone to clean the rooms AFTER THE FACT!!! We walked around the property to check it out and looks like the entire facility hasn't been properly maintained in 15 years with torn roofs and poorly painted lines of the parking lot. OH!! Even the hallway to our rooms was VERY VERY HOT AIR with the HEATER ON!!! WHY?!?! WHY!???! The Family and I....WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE EVER AGAIN!!!! I'm ONLY giving it a 1 star because I can't choose zero but a 1 star for the pool and hot tub. That's literally it. Other than watching the planes fly in into the airport in the sky when we were swimming. Pretty cool. But my gosh, everything else is just so..... pitiful..... just trash I recommend going to another place that will actually have a well maintained and operated facility with an A+ rating in every category for a Hotel from services to parking to rooms. Stayed in a dome room and it was horrible. I can deal with a room being outdated visually but dame the dust was unreal and the beds were horrible. My husband ended up trying to sleep on the floor the second night but couldn't breathe due to dust so he didn't sleep. I will never stay there again read more

Not worth the $255 we were charged. Ants in the room holes in the carpet, the bathtub is falling apart and there was hair in the tub and around the edges first. We had the champagne non smoking room. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We checked into the 50s room and soon realized what a mistake we made paying 200+ dollars for this room. It was dark and dingy, similar to a nasty hole in the wall bar. We decided to try to enjoy ourselves and tried to fill the hot tub. This took almost an hour. As I was getting dressed my girlfriend laid on the car bed and was quickly ate up by bed bugs. We went to the front desk where the "security" guard who we later found out was the owner got EXTREMELY aggressive with me. He was yelling in my face bent over the front desk. He's wouldn't give us another room because he didn't want us to spread bugs. So here we are Thanksgiving sleeping in our cold cars with zero refund. I'm furious and will do anything I can to make sure others don't make the same mistake we did. We could have stayed in a Hilton suite for that money. read more

THEY HAVE BED BUGS. I wish I could select a negative amount of stars, because honestly this is a zero star hotel. I booked on hotels.com. The pictures they provide for the room the book you into for the heart shaped jacuzzi king size bed rooms are inaccurate and false advertising, they did not show the nasty run down disgusting rooms they are renting out. I paid over $125 a night for 3 nights, expecting a pleasant stay. Upon arrival into my room I was taken aback. There was an odor, the jacuzzi was permanently stained with dirt, and the caulk around the mirror surrounding the jacuzzi was festering with mold. The bathroom was worse. I immediately expressed dissatisfaction. The clerk was willing to work with me, but because of the third party booking I could only be offered to switch rooms of the same similarity, which the desk clerk admitted would all look as run down as the one I had currently because as she put it "it's an older property" or I could have my money back. Because I booked through a third party and a refund would take up to 10 days, I decided to switch rooms and deal with it. The second room wasn't much better, as it had broken tile next to the jacuzzi and came with two pairs of male underwear next to the TV, obviously left by a previous guest. Everything wasn't fine but it was ok until the next day around 2 pm. I took a shower, the shower head wasn't properly working, also the water accumulated as if the drain was clogged. After exiting the shower and starting to get dressed, I happened to be looking at the bed and saw something scurrying across the sheets. As it hid in the bunched up sheet, I pulled it apart and what the f@$& do I find? A BED BUG. I took pictures and I immediately packed up everything in the room and hightailed it back up the office. This is where it gets more upsetting than any of the previous situations mentioned and they are pretty bad, don't you agree? The clerk immediately takes a defensive posture on the conversation. Starts telling me that he can't tell from the picture what it is, and that we don't even know of it was a bed bug. Proceeds to tell me because it's 2:45 pm the can only refund me for one night of the three because it was past the 11 am check out time. Proceeds to tell me it's best for me to leave. Advises I can't have another room because I could spread the bed bugs, tells her the can't exterminate the room because they exterminator won't come out until Thursday at the earliest. So I'm getting escalated at this point because your forcing me to pay for a room that your forcing me to leave (I mean I wasn't staying in that room anyway) but your hotel has bed bugs and you aren't accommodating to righting the wrong for your paying customer. The clerk again goes to say that they'll have to have the exterminator confirm that it was a bed bug and they might not even be any in there. In which I replied I squished it, the motherf$&$)& is still on the bed sheet. You could tell he got excited by my cussing because this gave him the way out he was looking for since the beginning of this conversation. He immediately said since I've chosen to cuss at him I can get out and leave the property. I advised him I didn't cuss AT him, I am expressing my frustration with this situation through my usage of words. I called hotels.com and advised the situation, they reached out to the hotel who ended up only offering to refund the one night and advised that he would need to seek GM approval to refund the current night. As I was waiting on the phone with hotels.com one of the "managers" showed up and I proceeded to ask him about the refund. This man was more defensive then the clerk and actually took a battle stance and approach to the conversation. Throughout our conversation this man accused me of having bed bugs and bringing it to the hotel (please read the reviews this hotel is known for bed bugs - I wish I read the reviews first) - this man brought up the fact I asked to switch rooms the night before and told me that he "wasn't playing my game". What game?!?! He literally treated me like a bum. Treated me like less of a human being. Like I didn't just fork out $350 to stay at this raggedy a$$ hotel. He proceeded to tell me if I didn't leave the property he wasn't refunding me anything. He raised his voice at me, was extremely aggressive and used my calling the bed bug a motherfuc$&r as a reason why he wasn't accommodating anything else including this conversation. The "manager" was WAY worse then the clerk and I honestly feel bad for the employees that work there. Forced to act like each bed bug incident is the first they've heard of and forced to portray the guest as the individual that brought them to the infested hotel. The customer service is piss poor. No way ... 1 star is too much for this filth infested motel. We were given room#122. Right in front of the broken windows with large holes. Thick hair in the tub, gross. Handy wipes in the bathroom????? The 2 "queen" beds were actually doubles and so broken and old they were sinking visibly. Never touched a thing and walked out to change rooms and upgrade. My kids didn't even step foot in that room. No way. I asked to change rooms and UPGRADE at an additional $140. The "manager" said he wanted to check to make sure if i used the toilet, said no to upgrade. Ummm..... what? I was in the room for 30 seconds. long enough to put a bag in and turned right out. Sorry pal .... even the toilet isnt worth urine. The room was disgusting. Said he was going to refund my money, then had the front desk lady come back to tell us he wasnt. Told me to email the manager, she gave me a business card with no name. I called my bank immediately in the lobby for this right away. Good news to the "owner" or "manager" who I'd guess was that guy or a family member: Your guy is so smart you lost additional funds on an empty room when someone was attempting to actually give more money. Oh jesus. Well, we wanted a room with a jacuzzi and we got one, so there's that. I've done motel jacuzzi's before and this is the first time I've had an issue. And I'm no stranger to cheap motels, I'm not a picky traveler especially when I'm purposefully traveling on a budget. This place was gross and not cheap. We paid $125 and regretted it, but at that point had no other options. Themed rooms are apparently $160 a night; please do your research, they're not anywhere near worth that price. This is not retro, this is not kitschy, this is gross and run down. Upon checking in we inquired when the pool opens (they have something called a Dome- it's an indoor pool enclosed in a glass atrium), and were told "At 9am, if the chemicals are right". Reassuring. We were also warned that under no circumstances were we to have any "cake, balloons, or parties". I don't even care to make a joke, what a weird freakin place. Our room is on the first floor of one of the buildings. We enter to find a long hallway with windows on one side and....AC units blasting heat and leaking water into buckets out of the rooms on the other. Yeah, the AC's let out into the hall and leak. It's hot as balls, and the entire place smells like a 70's basement. And not in a charming way, I'm not urban exploring, I'm trying to sleep here. The hall also has these seemingly arbitrary steps up, then back down, making dragging your luggage extra fun. The pictures don't do the room justice, it honestly appears clean and OK at first. Yes, the lack of any windows is disconcerting but not a deal breaker, it's just for a night and we checked in very late. There is a posted guarantee that if you're not pleased with your room, you have 30 minutes to let them know so they can do something about it. There is also a sign by the door lock asking you to lock it when you're inside "for your protection", and a sign by the jacuzzi warning not to fill it over the fill line or you'll be responsible for the cost of any water damage. None of this bodes well, ya know? We had multiple flies in the room. We only opened the door to come in, with no window I'm not sure how that happened. The room smelt damp, like the hallway did. Everything had a balmy feeling to it, the air, the surfaces, even the sheets. Similar to New Orleans, but in NOLA they build their houses to ventilate. Temperatures were mild that day anyway so this just seems to be the permanent state of things. It's a hot box. As for the extremely creepy looking heart shaped jacuzzi, it had dust in it and missing grout. Grout was black in many places. We used it. I'll update if I get a UTI. The jets worked, the water was hot. Bare requirements of "room with jacuzzi" met, right? Well, I think that the smell and ever present moisture problem is due to the fact that there is almost zero ventilation in the hotel, and certainly not in our room. What we quickly learned about a room that has a hot tub but no vents and no windows is that it becomes disgusting very fast. All of a sudden we noticed water damage on the browning and torn lampshades and in the walls themselves. I can't describe the sickly, sticky feeling of trying to fall asleep on those damp sheets. Also, three spiders. One in the jacuzzi, two in the shower. Sizable spiders. Spiders attracted to freakin WATER. One came at me while I was pooping, OK? They attack when you're at your most vulnerable :( Other, completely silly complaints after all the water and spiders, was there was no wifi information posted anywhere despite it being advertised, breakfast is only served until 9 freakin 30 despite checkout being at 11, and the towels are made for very tiny people and will exfoliate your skin with their scratchiness. This place is great for many things. Depressing porno flicks. The backdrop to a throwback slasher flick. A visit from some sort of sanitation or health department. Just not so great for spiderless jacuzzi's. read more

I contacted Wildwood Inn and asked for a partial refund on our room. I was told from Robbie who is the manager he needed to speak with his General Manager and would contact me. On Thursday I called him again and asked if they were able to come up with a resolution. I was told his GM did not want to give us anything however he could give us 10% off of our stay. I advised him thank you, I will accept that however I will also share my negative experience with social media. Robbie said he will exercise his right to revoke my 10% and I can exercise my right to post negative comments. He then hung up on me. I stayed here with my girlfriend this past Friday in the 50s Happy Days room. We were doing a photoshoot for her modeling portfolio and it seemed like the perfect place from the photos. Check in was very simple. I walked into the main building and checked in. The lady at the desk was very nice and you could tell she knew the whole hotel by heart. She made sure to tell me all the details about how to turn things on in our room since it was themed. The room i'd give 2 out of 5 stars itself. The room was really cool. It looked like you just stepped on a movie/tv set, which was the look we were going for; however, this room is in need of some updating. When I checked in the lady at the counter said they were undergoing renovations, so hopefully that's true. Our room wasn't as gross as some of the others here on Yelp. It was mostly clear, but the "car bed" was a little rough. It was ripped on the sides, exposing some unpleasant looking foam. The water pressure was terrible. It took literally 40 minutes to fill the jacuzzi tub. The overall look just needs a whole refresh, because it's just so old and you can smell it in the air. We actually ended up going to the Walgreens up the street to get some air freshener to make it tolerable. The bathroom was mostly clean till you got to the shower. It just looked a bit gross and there were ants. We still made the most of our experience despite all the things listed above and the room really did meet our expectations in terms of what we needed for our photoshoot. The hotel also has a "tropical dome" with a pool that goes from 3ft to 7ft, a 1ft kid pool (small), and a nice hot tub or what they call "spa" with a big waterfall, which looks pretty cool. The indoor pool is suppose to be heated. When we got in the pool it was freezing, but then was warm only in some spots. I think their pool heater is on it's way out and they need to check that. The pool wasn't very clean. The water was decent, but the bottom of the pool is gross. It needs to be drained and repainted. The ground in the "tropical dome" is just poorly, green, painted concrete, which also needs to be repainted. Everything in the dome looks like how it did when I was a kid and i'm 22, so they really need to paint the dome area for sure. The decorations and the way they have it set up is cool, but decor does little when the key features are lacking. I'd rather see money put into the pool rather than some tiki torches and some tropical themed statues. Behind the pool, they have a little gaming set up. It's okay, not the best set up ever but it works I guess. Other random points: They offer breakfast from 6:30-9am. Tropical dome is open till 11pm. The hotel is split up into different building, due to having the theme rooms, etc. so if you need ice or something from the vending machine you have to go to the main lobby and get that. Which is annoying if you have to get ice at night, because you have to walk across the parking lot. Overall, i'd say we had a decent stay. We stayed one night and that was enough for me. We might try another themed room in the future for another photoshoot. I'd say SKIP this place if you're just looking for a normal hotel. Most of the regular rooms looked gross from the outside and they need to be updated. They take better care of their themed rooms, because thats where they make their money. So if you're interested in a themed room I would check this place out. Keep in mind as soon as you check in, go to your room and CHECK EVERYTHING. You have 30 minutes to report anything you find to the front desk if you're seeking a refund. Otherwise they'll tell you "we can change your room and thats it". It's in their policy so check your bed for bugs (just in case) and look around. It's disappointing this place has gotten in such disarray, because it's an amazing concept. The facility is older, and the pictures are quite dated. I couldn't get the fridge in the room to work, but besides that it's still a nice place. We stayed in an Arizona Cave room, and we really enjoyed our stay until about 8am. Someone above us must have started a shower, and water started pouring into our room from several locations making one entire side of the room and the bed unusable. The front desk said no one from maintenance would be in until after checkout, and there was nothing they could do. read more

The room was terrible, looks like it hasn't had a penny invested since the 90s. It was dirty, missing paint on the walls, tiles loose in the shower, one of the beds were broken, the microwave was nasty, the door lock looked like someone had tried to break down the door at some point, curtain rail was about to fall, furniture was dirty and busted, I could continue. I've stayed there twice so far. First time was great. Second time not last night, not so much. We were in the safari room and it's not even that good of a room. The cave is way better. The pool was good but the room has lots of flaws. First of all, the lady told me when I was booking that the huts would have wifi and when we got there the wifi doesn't even reach out there. The Tv barely worked, no batteries in the remote, the DVD player didn't even work either, the bed was uncomfortable with scratchy blankets. Also, they don't even serve breakfast. The bed was dirty, the room was dirty, the parking lot is full of meth addicts just waiting to break into cars. I tried to get a refund right away, but the front desk kept putting me on hold and then hanging up on me after 10 minutes of hold time. A tent would have been a huge upgrade. I paid well over $200 for a safari room and it was just super old Walmart crap and the furniture was broken down, the fridge was rusted, the room smells so bad, and the "lagoon" is just a cesspool right outside the room full of bugs. There are not enough negative words to describe this place, but these are a few that come to mind....cheap, dirty, outdated, jerry-rigged, john/prostitute, overpriced, over-rated, shautty. 18 years ago I took my ex-husband here for his birthday. We got a heart shaped tub for two room. We had to clean the pubic/body hairs out if the tub and spray it before we could getting in. That was the first problem. It got worse. The place was just overall not clean. When we got into the bed, the sheets were cheap, scratchy, and the pillows were old and flat. It was a WATER BED! HEATED! Well, little did we know that meant stuck on high. We were so hot, that we called the front desk. Between the steamy room from the hot tub, and the heater on the bed, we couldn't take it. After a long wait at like 2am the maintenance man came. Told us that he was familiar with this bed. That it was stuck on high and theres nothing he could do. We called the front desk, argued that there was just no way we could stay in that room. Needless to say, we decided to check out at 3am and drive home. They refused to refund us or credit us 1/2 a night. They did NOTHING! Fast forward, I am newly remarried, and my husband decides to surprise me on my birthday with a night at the WILDWOOD INN (imagine horror movie music playing). I tell him my horrible experience. Seeing his hurt feelings, I say "well, it's been 18 years. Surely things have changed, or they'd be closed". We get there, walk to our room. Same style room. $120 per night. First our keys wont let us in the outside set of doors, that let you into a hallway. After we got help, we open our room door. I am mortified! The smell alone...must, dirty. The brown printed carpet, the outdated/mismatched furniture and bed. They looked liked they were all purchased at yard sales. They were old and dirty. Flat pillows, cheap sheets. But, hey! No waterbed with a broken heater, right? As I look around the room and turn on lights, theres pubic/body hairs in the heart shaped tub, and I just said "I think I might leave here tomorrow with bed bugs, or STD's. Are you my john? Am I a prostitute? NO! I just cant sleep in this room." We go to the front desk. No $back. They offer us the room next door. We go look at it. This one was equally bad, but in different and similar ways. Hairs also in the tub, stains in the bathroom, flat pillows, outdated everything, same yard sale furniture, same foul stench in the air. "No! No! I'm sorry! I just cant! " the thought of even sitting on the bed made me nautilus! Being in the room for only moments, made me want to go straight home and shower. Looking around, I was imagining the kind of things that had possibly went on in that room. My husband called expedia... described the room. Expedia complained to the hotel, and thank God we got a full refund and left. Found out, that if you complain within 30 min if checking in, you have a better chance of a refund. If you have 1 oz. The room is great for the price, mainly due to the heart shaped jacuzzi and size of the room... My problem with it though is that there was only one movie channel, no pay per view, or DVD player and couldn't face the tv towards the jacuzzi without turning the whole entertainment center. So it's not very movie friendly... it's a decent room though with a jacuzzi for a good place, just need to bring my fire stick next time... And the pool is great, well themed. Oh my this place is not worthy of 1 star. I would recommend staying somewhere else. I have been to some real dumps in my life but this one takes the cake. The room was dirty really dirty. It's like they hadn't cleaned it in weeks. I would be surprised if they even changed the sheets after each person stays. This hotel Is in dire need of being remodeled everything is old and damaged. I would recommend taking a bulldozer and just taking the whole place down. I would rather spend the night in my car then sleep here again. I wouldn't even take cheap slut I'm banging to this dump. Shower only let out cold water in room 122. I asked to shower in another room with my own towel and shampoo after a 7hr day of driving. They said no but gave a 10% refund (which ended up being $7 since the room was 70). I would have paid $30 extra for a nice hot shower at the end of a 7hr day of driving. It's such a gross feeling to drive or fly with no shower before bed. Would have stayed at the country inns had I realized their shower was broken. Also, the shower was soooo worn down wow. Parents kicked out after seeing cockroach in the bathroom and asking for a new room. Manager got angry and irate blaming my parents and they were barely checked in and not even settled in yet. Was told they would get a refund before they left but when my mother called she was told by the receptionist that she was told not to refund and the manager was now gone and won't return until Monday. I've seen similar reviews of blaming their unkept rooms on the guests and keeping people's money. Do not stay at this place. Poor upkeep and poor management read more

its not much to look at, I've lived and raised my children and Sarah for 35 years. My son was taking his sister for a drivers test and we thought we'd get a hotel to celebrate after she got her license. I registered online put that I had a dog and when I signed in and ask anything figured it was on the screen can't upgrade in the room that I asked for and paid for. I couldn't find the remote in the room. So I went down and asked for milk went back to my room, when I found the remote I headed out to tell the front desk I found it. The owner was headed towards me with a remote I wanted to make sure the remote will turn on the TV. When he saw my 8 pound dog he said you can't have that dog here. I was like but I paid for it serious discussion but he was very blatantly rude to me as if I had done something wrong which I hadn't. When I went upfront because I had to go out front explain all of this he continue to talk to me like I was a dog. At that point I told him he wasn't allowed to talk to me like that. I wasn't talking to him like that he shouldn't be talking to me like that. He became irate fucking kicked me out of the hotel because I said I wouldn't put up with him talking to me like a dog.So if you ever think about staying at Wildwood in granted it was a nice hotel back in the day but it's not anymore read more

I reserved a room 4days prior. Get here to be told all amenities are not working. Get to my room and it looked like a motel. Light fixtures don't work or had a shortage. Then the rooms walls so thin. All I could here was the next room fucking.. and for the price of the room.. I am TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED.. cigarette burns in covers.. outdated and molded looking bathroom.. even the hot tub/jacuzzi is peeling paint.. they need to upgrade read more

We took our grandkids for an overnight just to swim very clean and fresh. There was a horrible incident in the fun dome with another customer and we were ready to pack up and leave the staff took care of it immediately and professionally.it is an amazing place to go for a fun night for all ages . read more

My husband and I have stayed at these " little huts" that are offered several times, we like the large in room whirlpools and it's definitely quite and private. Well 2 yrs ago we stayed in" a hut" and we asked to move for our second night, the bed was broken , we were moved and issue solved, we come today, and come into " the hut" and the same broken bed from 2 yrs ago now has a piece of plywood under it, the same broke down mattress, a rough nasty looking blanket with cigarette burns, cracks all over the the whirlpool, and one of the two chairs at the table is an outdoor patio chair with no padding, the only other chair in the room has flat pillows that are wet‍ ,the hut we usually stay in is taken, but I can't believe for $200 a night, after two years, nothings been repaired, I think this will need to be our last visit, we truly enjoyed it here but there's just no upkeep being done. We could have stayed in a nicer room at the Hilton for half the price. read more

The tree area by the pool is infested with large roaches. We only noticed because they got on out towels that were on the chairs next to the trees. We didn't stay. Checked out early and were told our reservation was not paid for. I'd paid for it and booked it a week prior. The manger fixed my misplaced payment the next morning. The room was unclean, poorly patched holes in the walls, handwriting on the furniture. There was a sign that said "please lock and latch your door after 12pm for your own safety" directly under a latch with no chain. The tiki bar was closed. I use Yelp a lot when looking for places to stay/eat/play. But, I rarely write reviews myself. In this case, though I feel compelled to do so. I feel like the Wildwood Inn has been ravaged on many review sites, and I do not think the critique is warranted, at least not based on our most recent stay. We were in the area to attend a Reds game and visit the Creation Museum. I actually learned of the Wildwood Inn on a Reds site about visiting the area. I was immediately intrigued, knowing that my two boys (13/11) would love all the themed rooms. After reading reviews, I almost did not stay there. But, I am glad I gave it a shot. We had a great time. And the Pirate room was so much fun! Not only was it greatly decorated, it was very comfortable and I found it VERY clean. I usually do not sleep well in hotels, but actually had and amazing night sleep in this room. It did not have any windows, so it was very dark as the sun came up. To me, that is a bonus. The reason I ended up booking the room was that I called the front desk and asked for more info on rooms. We had a lot of fun as a family looking at the online pictures and deciding which one to stay in. We were down to the tree house and the pirate ship. I spoke with a lady at the desk (do not remember her name) who walked me in detail through each option. And related to me what her son likes about each room. We ended up choosing the pirate room because it had an extra bunk bed which allowed each of my boys their own bed. She could not have been more helpful and friendly. And after we checked in, every employee we encountered was just as friendly. The breakfast (which I have seen critiqued) is just fine. Comparable to any hotel that offers breakfast these days. Since we slept in so late, we got to breakfast just before closing and there was still plenty to chose from. In fact, the breakfast offering even continued past the advertised time. The pool was a fun place to spend a few hours. I would not plan my vacation around it. But, it was definitely a fun place to unwind after a hot day at the ballpark. The only place I found a bit worn for the wear was the arcade. It seemed pretty smokey and in need of an upgrade. But, they had an old school Ms. Pac Man machine which is always exciting to me. So, I spent my fair share of time in there as well. To me, it apears that this establishment is really 2 entities: the themed, suite rooms and the more 'motel' section. I cannot speak to that section. But, I do think the themed section is worth checking out. We have visited Disney World a number of times, and stayed a number of their properties. We agreed that in some ways, our Pirate room was better than any room we have ever had at Disney (in a moderate level location). In no way am I suggesting that this is a 5 start pristine hotel. If that is what you are looking for, then don't book. But if you want a fun night or two away in a unique place. By all means, check out the Wildwood Inn. read more

Cards on the table, I haven't stayed here. But when I went to investigate staying there they wouldn't even give pricing or take reservations online (something I know they used to do because I've looked at staying here in the past). I wanted to be able to look at the pricing on a multitude of different rooms and dates -- maybe it's dumb, but in 2014 I should be able to research pricing without having to pick up a phone and wasting the time of both myself and the person on the other end of the phone for something I can do myself. Between that and the poor reviews in the last few years, I decided to take my business elsewhere. And yeah, it's not closed - it's just owned by Howard Johnson now (a large chain that should be able to handle online reservations). read more

With this place you get exactly what you pay for and it is not good. We went here for a weekend gateway since this is close to our house and had a horrible experience. The room was dumpy and run-down. There were just random kids running around everywhere unsupervised. The other problem with the place is the outside of the hotel looks really bad and run-down. They really should put some effort into what the place looks like. Simply things like a can of paint and updated room features would make this place look better. They also need to limit the kids or make the parents more accountable. read more

I have mixed feeling on this place. The first time my wife and I came here it was nice, adult friendly place. They had a swim up bar..but took all that away to make it kid friendly. Don't get me wrong...I love kids, have 3 of my own..but the wife and I come here to get away. For adult time. This visit, wasn't as enjoyable. Kids everywhere. Screaming. The breakfast was gross, and no bacon. The waffles are good though. Then on our last night, out HOT water in our HOT tube wasn't working. They said it was bc they were refilling their pool. But I say that's unacceptable since the whole reason we came here was for the hot tub. They also need to update. Have to walk all the way outside to the main office just to get to vending machines and ice. read more

This place is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I've been here twice. Once in the Aztec Jungle room, and once in the Pirate Ship room. Both rooms were really neat. My favorite part of the Aztec Jungle one was the mirror on the ceiling above the king size bed. It was awesome. The jungle theme was also pretty cool to take pics by. I also liked the table that looked like it was made out of a tree trunk. My favorite part of the Pirate Ship room was the awesome deck. They have an upper level with a helm, or as I'd like to call it a steering wheel for kids to play with. They also have a table up there which was fun for playing cards, and an extra pool out bed. Both rooms had a huge shower, and a large jacuzzi. Everything was clean. I had a blast without even going to the pool. I know that if you go through the week you'll get a better rate. Also, they have coupons in places like Entertainment books and Reach Magazine. I look forward to going back in the future and trying out some more rooms, like the Caves and Treehouse. read more

Ok, yes, it needs some basic cosmetic updates. However, for the price, it is perfectly fine. Our kids really enjoyed the dome pool area and hot tub. The room was clean and everything was in working order. There continental breakfast was better than expected. But beyond that, the staff was so incredibly friendly. They let us know about area carnivals, provided us with extra pillows and greeted us with smiles each trip through the lobby. The biggest asset of this hotel is the amazing staff! If I am ever back this way, I would stay here again. read more

Ok, the Wildwood Hotel is pretty awesome in the fact that when we stayed there, we stayed in the Aztec Jungle Room and it looked and felt like an Aztec Jungle Room - they really decorated better than most any room I have ever seen. You can get pretty adventurous in that place, but it was more themed for kids. Even the Aztec Jungle Room had two bunk beds off in the corner - when i I was staying, it was just with me and my hubby - so the bunk beds were not, of course needed. But if you have kids and are checking out Newport on the Levee or Cincinnati, Ohio - it is super smart to stay there and travel the 15 minutes to these locations (Newport on the Levee and Cincinnati are right next to each other). If you are more on the prowl to discover the city night life, Wildwood is kinda out of the way. It would be a fairly long cab ride from Wildwood to the downtown life... The staff at Wildwood was amazing - when we were checking in, my husband dropped the cooler and our vodka bottle exploded on their Aztec hard floors. Glass was everywhere. I went to the front desk and they promptly came over and helped me clean up the damage. They also referred us to Skyline to experience three-way, four-way, and five-way Cincinnati Chili - it was a very awesome experience and not exactly like the Chili that we expect - chocolate is their secret ingredient! It is addicting in the weirdest of ways! There is an indoor swimming pool/mini water park for kids there as well - wristbands are free when you check into the hotel - this is one of those hotels that both parents and kids could enjoy alike. You could relax, do work while the kids had a blast playing in the hotel and enjoying the themed room amenities. They also had little tiki huts that you could stay in in their tiki village - it was really a cool little place - I would definatly go back their with the kids - but if I was doing a romantic get away with me and hubby, I would stay closer to the downtown area so I could enjoy the nightlife.... Hmm...I say that, but their rooms were just so cool - I don't know - I might end up back there, just the two of us again, I am torn! read more

When I come down to Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati, I usually book a room at one of the hotels on the Riverfront (usually the Radisson), but they were all booked up for the Saturday night that I was in town. I had remembered driving by this place years ago, so I decided to book it because the rooms looked pretty cool. The room was REALLY cool. We stayed in the New Mexico cave (or the Kentucky Cave? They both look the same to me). Very well decorated, we really felt like we were in a cave. I noticed right off the bat that there are no windows, which was a little weird, but I suppose caves don't have windows. You could smoke in the room which was phenomenal, since myself and my man friend both smoke. There's a jacuzzi tub, a spacious bathroom, a TV and Blu-Ray player, mood lighting, and a little stone table. One the front wall, there were "cave drawings" and people who had stayed there before had added to it by writing their initials in hearts....it was very cute. My only complaint about the room is that the carpets were heavily stained. It kind of skeeved me out a little. The place is really deceiving on the outside because it looks like a run down motel (except for the pirate ship). But the staff at the front desk is extremely nice and professional. There is a pool area that we did not take advantage of, but there is a "Tiki Bar" off of the pool area that we did take advantage of. Apparently they do karaoke on Saturday nights but we missed it. The bartender was really nice and the drinks are good. So, it's not the CLEANEST place in the world and that's why I gave it three stars, but it's a pretty cool place to stay in the middle of Kentucky. I would stay there again - I want to check out the other rooms!! read more
