Our first time here, a little bit of a mixed reaction. First, we were there mid afternoon, and the sun was beating down on the front entrance, which happens to be where you're standing in line waiting at the bar. Even though they weren't that busy, we still waited a long time to get served. We were definitely ready to get out of the sun. My daughter tried a few different things before she ended up with the pumpkin spice county fair cobbler sour. I got a flight of five different beers, ranking them as close as I can remember: 1. Out of office lager 2. Beer flavored beer 3. Leafer lager 4. Chela Noches lager 5. Barrel-aged undead Honestly, all five were fine, but 1-3 were my favorites. We sat for awhile and played with the resident black cat, Midnight, as well. I could see stopping back by on a future visit to Greeley. read more

This is the best beer bar to go to. One they have the CUTEST black cat that just walks around or comes up to you on the bar and lets you pet and love up on, two they have really good beers three amazing service four a really good atmosphere that is just really down to earth and inviting and five they have the dopest music it's old school and that's my kind of beer bar to go too. There is inside and outside seating. I also ordered a pizza from their pizza food truck, note* it is not always there so check their website to see what days they have food because it's not an everyday thing. Also if you do stop don't forget to buy your black cat sticker that is literally of the black cat in that bar. I think his name is Wiley. read more

I have mixed experience at Wiley Roots. I arrived on a Tuesday and really enjoyed the character of the establishment. I'm a barrel aged stout fanatic, so hearing they had several was great. I tried two of the three ba stouts they offered. They were good. I ended up purchasing 12 cans at $21 each. That's where the experience turned. After a few days in my fridge, I opened the first and it was terrible. The adjunct had separated and the flavors were not good. On pouring the last 1/3 of the can it was very sludgy and it was clear the cans offered at the brewery were likely stored in ideal conditions while the cans offered to go not so much. I tried to mix the cans up by placing the upside down and gently mixing them but these are just not good. The sludge at the bottom is just not going to mix. I messaged Wiley Roots via email, while I didn't expect a refund, or any compensation, I did expect a response, which I got none. I'd recommend beer in the brewery but buyer beware on taking adjunct BA Stouts to go. I've bought hundreds of cans and bottles across the US and I can say this is my worst experience. This is a fantastic brewery with legitimately something for everyone! This place has great indoor and outdoor spaces. Plenty of room for groups. We bellied up to the bar. The beer list is overwhelming. They have styles all over the board and lots of options for non-beer lovers. I really enjoyed the big, dark, sweet stouts and the refreshing, summer sours. The beertenders are really knowledgeable and will help you pick out the perfect beverage. If you haven't been here before, ask your beertender about the cat who lives at the bar. :) read more

We walked over from our hotel to experience Wiley Roots. They earned every star! We sat inside because it was cold out but the patio looks like a great time when it's warmer. We were greeted and helped upon entry. We sat at the bar and took some time to get through the pages of beer that are offered in 16 oz cans or on draft. From spurs to stouts and porters there were so many to choose from. The county fair series was amazing and as a Gemini I had to try the Zodiac: Gemini sour which was tart but not overwhelming. We tried two stouts both peanut buttery and delicious. We decided to grab a bite since St. Tony's pizza operations from the location. The pizza was impressively good and they accommodated our request for half pepperoni and half margarita. The train tracks back up to their facility so there are select beers (marked on the menu) that when the train goes by if you order them you get a discount on them. Of course the train when by so I had to order the Beer flavor beer. A nice light and refreshing beer. read more

This brewery does things a bit differently than your typical. Firstly, they didn't have much on tap. Instead, they encourage you to order their cans and bottles and consume them directly on-site. In that light, DO come with others especially if you're main goal is to sample a few beers. They certainly possess an IPA and a stout or two, but they are otherwise known for their smoothie sours. I imagine these would screw with their lines, hence the lack of any of that particular style on draft. They do have "regular" sours which they categorize as "slush". We ordered 4oz tasters of their three hazy IPA's on draft, and opted to share a single 16oz can of one of their smoothie sours. Can't say I enjoy the smoothie style, in general, so their Super Fruit Lady: Triple Strawberry was only mildly interesting. The thick smoothie texture isn't really my jam when drinking beer. If I were being forthright, I would not even consider the smoothie style a beer. In any case, the flavors were as true as can be. A common issue with strawberry is that is often tastes like band-aid and that certainly wasn't the case here. As for their IPA's, they pretty much all tasted the same, but perhaps that was because we had just come from Weldwerks up the street. Nothing to complain about in the end though. read more

I love this brewery! We have stopped in here a few times over the last couple of years, and most recently again today. The staff are amazing - friendly, happy beer lovers who are happy to make recommendations based on what's new or your flavor profile. There's plenty of space inside in the bar area, and on warm days plenty of patio area/tables to sit. If you're there when the train goes by - ask for a train beer! Super interesting takes on beer - from smoothie sours (A visit from the fruit lady:...) - to fruited sours (the lounge music:Vegas grotto is a must), to IPAs (citradonkdonkdonkulous is a triple style IPA and quite delicious), pastry stouts and porters. If you aren't on untappd you should be - all of these beers rate extremely well. Also love that you can pick up single cans to go (it's a bit hard to get through the whole 3 page beer list while there). We will be back! read more

Had one of their beers at a restaurant a while ago and got the opportunity to visit the brewery in person and had an amazing experience. We were there on trivia night and ended up winning second place and received a discount on our tab. I only like Porters and Stouts and am often disappointed by the lack of flavor in beers I try. But not here! OMG they had at least six good looking beers and I tried five and loved them all. We even bought two 4packs to go. They are without doubt my favorite domestic brewery. Perfect haven for the sour lovers out there! We stopped here for their infamous boozy ice cream as an afternoon treat and it was well worth it. Their blackberry pomegranate ice cream was bomb and a perfect compliment after lunch. I also tried their Meyer lemon meringue sour and a few oz was just enough for me (Love lemon but not a huge sour beer person). They have a delightful patio space to ensure social distancing measures are kept in tact. My only complaint is that it's an industrial park and it gets LOUD. We finished up pretty quickly since it was difficult to hear each other let alone think. Pup friendly too :) read more

If you like sour beers, you have to visit Wiley Roots! We live in Denver and had been wanting to go ever since they came up on social media and I saw their unique beers! So this weekend we drove up to Greeley and it was totally worth it! Not only do they have awesome beers, but they offer soft serve boozy ice cream and slushies. They offer a vast menu and have ample seating both inside and the outdoor space. My only recommendation would be to offer more of the awesome beers to-go! There were a few beers that we absolutely loved but they weren't available in cans or bottles so we had to settle for just having them at the brewery. If you go, make sure to try the barrel aged sour called Family Tradition. Easily one of the best sour beers I've had (and I consider myself a sour beer connoisseur lol). read more

Wiley Roots is a unique experience. I've only been to one other experimental brewery, in Bend Oregon - the Fermentation Project. Wiley Roots lives up to that high expectation in my mind, and offers a wide variety of unique, interesting, and maybe even challenging drinks to try. We were allowed to try a few options and settled on the Vanilla, maple, cinnamon stout and a peach smoothie sour approximating a fuzzy navel. Both were excellent! Sours tend to be too hard on my stomach, and turn bitter on my tongue after the third or fourth drip. Neither happened here, I really enjoying it! And the porter was very good, sweet but not overwhelming. Definitely come here, and do so with the idea that you are goi g to explore some fun options! read more

Cool spot - especially if you like sours. Drove up from Denver to check this place out (roughly 1 hour drive assuming no traffic). The spot does offer several different types of beers (IPAs, Stouts, etc.) but seems to specialize in smoothie sours and fruited sours - they've got as expansive a menu as I've seen anywhere for sours, though not all were available on draft (many were can only). I tried the Raspberry Lemonade Slush, the Ice Cream Trucks - Banana Across America smoothie, and Strawberry Chocolate Cheesecake Cobbler sour. Didn't care too much for the slush, but the "banana" smoothie and strawberry cheesecake chocolate sour were very, very good - especially the banana smoothie! But plenty of sours and other beers on the menu here so you should be able to find something you like. The smoothie sours don't have an ABV % listed in the menu but, per brewery staff, the alcohol percentage tends to run between 5-7% for those smoothies. The staff was super friendly and helpful and providing guidance on selections. Also appreciated the fact that they have TVs here, unlike some breweries that intentionally go without them. One quirk about this place - as soon as I sat down, a black cat crossed my path on the bar's counter. The cat (whose name is Midnight) apparently lives at the brewery and is well-known by the regulars LOL. there's even a cool painting of the car inside the brewery. Some cons - the spot closes relatively early for a brewery (9 on weekdays, 10 on weekends). Also, they don't serve food (besides simple things like popcorn) in-house, though to my understanding a food truck is often available there (wasn't there when I stopped by). I live on the East Coast but will definitely make it a point to drive back out here again the next time I'm in the area! read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. First time here. Very friendly bartender. Her name was Rachel. We order the double ipa, pomegranate gose, cinnamonstah, maple imperial somethin, something came for you in the mail. The Porters and Stouts were delicious but really sweet. I did tasters. I don't think I could do a full pour. But very good. Lots of flavor. The ipa was very good. After going to a place where all they serve is hazy IPAs it's great to have an American ipa! The gose has some good flavor. Lots of tables and room. Looked like a big patio and would be great in the summer. It looks like they are making great stuff with such a small system. Will be back. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and found parking easily. The outdoor patio was very nice and large. The indoor bar was a little smaller than I expected, but nice. I also fully expected there to be more beer on tap. It seems most of their beer is out of a can and they pour it for you at the bar. I like to get a splash of a couple before deciding on a pint, which you can't do if it's in a can. The beer was decent and the service was very good. To be fair I only tried a couple, but the 1320 double IPA I ordered was very subdued in hops flavor and that was a little disappointing. My wife enjoyed the sour IPA. One cool thing they have is a "train beer" which is their Nearly Dry lager beer for $2 when the train goes by. I did that too and that beer was pretty good, at 3.5%. Fun day and I'd come back to try a few more. Hope to see more on tap next time as it gets warmer. read more

Fun place for Friday nights with friends. If you like sour/ saison beers this could be a great place for you. Cool, hip setting with bass filled music. The IPA Citradiculous is decent, but not at the thirst quenching level of other Colorado IPAs. As a red beer IPA beer person, I am a little saddened by the lack of those beers in Greeley Right now they have several peach beers ( in the sour category) so head in over if that suits your style. First off, this brewery has some of the HANDS DOWN best beers I have ever tired. Their frozen slushes are AMAZING, their shushee sours are incredible and their service is just the cherry of top of the experience sundae! Literally everything from the second that we walked in to the the moment we left was amazing, such a genuine experience, no fake "I care about what you have to say" from the bartender. Honestly had good conversation and good beer. We ended up buying 4 different 4-packs to take home and some amazing "run the brews" glasses, we likely spend a little more thank WE wanted but it was worth every last penny! And it's not that they were all that expensive it was more that everything we had was better than the last! I HIGHLY recommended going here if you want some incredible beers, and some show stopping sours! we saw an ad on instagram on their "ice cream beer" and it did not disappoint. this will definitely be a regular spot for us. the ice cream is so good, they serve it in a cup or cone. the smoothie beers were delicious! they also do a $2 special when the train passes by. staff was very friendly, great experience overall. read more

Earlier in the day, on our visit to Greeley, the folks at Crabtree told us we should check out Wiley Roots, who operate out of the original Crabtree location. I really like that most brewers seem to have a strong sense of camaraderie and would much rather build each other up, than tear one another down. This location is definitely on the other side of the tracks (right next to them), just north of the big silos. We did not have too much trouble finding the place (thank you Google map app), although it was after dark and not that well lit. Wiley Roots is at the end of a dead end street, just past Syntax Spirits Distillery and Cocktail Bar (they even share a bathroom). I am sad to say that this was our last stop of the evening and my memory of the beers I enjoyed is not as sharp as I might prefer. But, I do remember starting with the Super 77 Wheat. This beer earned a bronze at the 2013 GABF and is more than drinkable. We hung out on the patio, enjoying the very mild October night, while a couple trains went by, and the large ginger cat from Syntax paid us a visit. The folks we met seemed pretty easy going (no surprise for most smaller breweries). If you are doing a Greeley brewery crawl, this one should definitely be on your list. read more

Wiley Roots Brewing is in the same location where Crabtree Brewing used to be. It is also right by Syntax Distillery. This was my first time to this new brewery since Crabtree was here and the setup is very different. The tap room is more inviting than it used to be, that much is for certain! I got a Chocolate Porter and it was alright. It was not too sweet but not amazingly distinctive either. It had a wonderful body to it! Since I was on a mini tour I just got the one beer here. I might have liked their lighter beers better like the wheat for example. The staff here is very friendly and quite helpful! read more

Every (non local) seems to head out to Greely for Weldwerks, but I strongly feel that Wiley Roots deserves your business if you are making the drive. Pros: -Lots of beer to choose from (IPAs, Porters, Sours etc.) -Very relaxed environment with lots of seating -Indoor and Outdoor seating -Dog friendly (outside) -My favorite beers: Peanut Monstah, Two Headed Monstah, Citradonkulous (similar to Juicy Bits IMO) -Great service and friendly staff Cons -Like many places, their sours all seem to be kettle made which are nice for those getting into beer, but don't offer that deep flavor a true sour offers. -No food read more

Let me start by saying I love Wiley roots collaboration beers that they distro to the springs. Love them so much I decided to make a trip to the brewery to spend my Saturday. It was just an ok decision. The brewery itself is your run off the mill bare bones tasting room. No ac, open doors, flies everywhere, and sticky tables. Walls are mostly bare and could use some art of some sort. There are a few random awards in shadow boxes but nothing that makes you feel like the drive to Greeley was worth it. The beer is ok. Most of their special edition beers are either hit or miss canned, tap room was very similar. Most flavors fall flat or are totally off. The frozen ones might be the way to go. The worst part about the visit is the super odd pour sizes they have for their beers. To add to it, they underpour by 2oz or more and still charge the normal price which is pretty overpriced in comparison to other brewers in the Denver area offering larger sizes. (The worst part about under pouring your beer is the fact you call yourself out by marking your three pour sizes on your glasses. If you're going to short me at least be sneaky about it). Luckily a brewery across the street was the only saving grace for Greeley. I'll stick to Wileys distro beers and save the taproom to the locals with limited options. read more

This is one of the most under rated breweries in Northern Colorado. Everyone flocks to Greeley to follow the crowd and stock up on lactose IPA's and pastry desert beers; meanwhile these guys quietly do there thing just down the street. Great Sours, Porters, Stouts, etc. Their medal winning Saison and "Something came in the mail" are two of the best beers in town with rotating variations to keep it interesting. They know how to make true to style beers that are complex and can't be faked. There space is nice , especially if you are a fan of laid back and no frills. Staff is always great and very attentive. They are not full of themselves and have a great sense of humor. Don't make a craft beer trip to Greeley without stopping here. read more
