Penrose has plenty of indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. Service was good overall and the food was delicious! We had 3 in our group. We started with the spinach artichoke dip appetizer. We ordered the G.O.A.T burger, fish and chips, and the bomb diggity burger. The spinach artichoke dip was creamy and full of flavor. It was served with plenty of celery, carrots, and tortilla chips. I ordered the bomb diggity burger and loved it! It has a cracked black pepper encrusted burger patty, moody bleu cheese, bacon, buffalo sauce, crispy onions, and blue cheese aioli. The bacon was THICK and cooked perfectly! The buffalo sauce complemented the blue cheese and added an additional kick to the pepper patty. The burger was a little messy to eat with the buffalo sauce and the aioli, but totally worth it. It was a great meal and an overall great experience at Penrose. There were 9 of us and we were lucky enough to get a seat together on the patio. The service was great. www came for dinner and really enjoyed being outside. Server did a great job. No complaints about our meals. Which is a pretty big deal since we had a couple children with us. They don't like much of anything. I would absolutely come again. Wonderful! read more

We stopped here right after Tour De Corgi and the food was pretty solid overall but to be fair, we were starving, which probably helped. I ordered the PBAT, which wasn't the most photogenic and was a bit messy (the tomatoes kept sliding out), but it was flavorful and satisfying. The fries were crisp and well-seasoned. My fiancé got the Blackened Chicken Sandwich, which was good, and our friend had the Salmon Salad, which looked fresh and he seemed to enjoy (though I didn't try it myself). While the food was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable, and I'm not sure we'd go out of our way to return. Our server was super friendly, but her timing was WAY off - we waited far too long to order and again to get the check, even though the patio wasn't very busy. We ended up sitting there for what felt like hours. She also never cleared our finished glasses, so by the end, the table was pretty cluttered. On the bright side, dogs are welcome on the patio! Overall, a decent experience, but probably not one we'd rush to repeat. read more

The fries on the poutine were nice and crispy with good flavor, the sauce was a bit heavy and got to be a little too much after awhile, but the chorizo and eggs were a nice touch. The lobster roll was super small and just not great. For $27 you'd hope it would be worth it, but it just wasn't. Small lobster portion, big glob of mayo, and the bread was a bit stale. Not that buttery toastiness you get on a good lobster roll so that was a bummer. They split it for us which was nice. Caesar was ok, croutons were stale and didn't really have any flavor. Overall, a cool spot to grab drinks and some elevated bar food. Would order differently next time. read more

The Penrose is right on the corner of that and it's both inside & outside seating so we decided we would try it. We were so happy we came up on this because it worked out perfectly! We actually sat inside right by the bar in a booth. My husband was happy because they had sports on in the bar and they changed one of the channels to the FIFA game. Our server was great. We just had cokes and salads but the salad was SO GOOD! It was a perfect atmosphere and great food and service. My husband said if we lived there he could see himself going back all the time. The burger came raw and we asked them to fix it but they came back with the same burger on the same bun and cheese... and it still was undercooked. Sweater Weather - hot cider, spiced rum, lemon juice & orange peel - this was ok Ribeye - came with some AMAZING whisky butter, garlic cheddar mashed potatoes, and hatch green chili creamed corn. I don't usually like creamed corn but let me tell you there were no leftovers. It was all delicious! Bone-In Pork Chop - came with mushroom French Diane sauce (I'll take a tub home please), crispy onion and chives with garlic smash and we got side salad instead of seasonal veggies. The side salad was delicious with lots of variety. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and very tender. Service was wonderful throughout. It's a cute place to hang out and much bigger than it looks from the outside. The patio is also super cute looking out to The Exchange (super cute space!). Parking in Downtown Ft. The food over all was good not the best I've had in FoCo but good. I had the new shrimp PoBoy which was spicy with the fresh jalapeño and the shrimp had a nice light fry I just wish it had more than 4 shrimp on the sandwich. My son had the pork belly burger and said it was delicious. Our other friends had the cheesesteak and the Ruben both said they were good but not fantastic. The food was delicious! I got the BOMB Diggty burger, and it was so tasty! I love a blue burger but never had it with buffalo sauce. The service was phenomenal, I have an onion allergy, they let me know the fries were fried with the onion crisps and the manager even came out to check because of onion powder. I have been to this place for happy hour more times than I can count I am finally writing a review. Hands-down my favorite happy hour place in all of Fort Collins. $3 off appetizers and $3-5 beer and wine. I highly recommend the Witbier fries and porter. The best dark beers around. The smokes salmon dip is good, not fishy at all, but I always ask for less veggies and more crackers because they just taste better that way. Service is attentive and they always have great menu suggestions when I ask. The inside is what I would describe as upscale casual. You will see friends in jeans fitting right in, and others on a nice date dressed up. It's perfect for a business meeting, date, girls night, or just a patio dinner with your dog. I enjoyed my visit to Penrose. My friends told me about it during my visit on Monday. I had the privilege of trying the Wtibier Fries. You MUST try these fries if you like seafood. It was hands down one of the best types of smothered fries I've ever had. For my main course, I had the bacon marmalade burgers. It was also so good! It was cooked to perfection. It went from being quiet on a Monday to picking up around dinner time, so it had a good energy without being too crowded. Our waitress was very attentive too. She took really good care of us. I always love a server who keeps my water glass full, especially on a hot summer day, so I truly appreciated her care and consideration for our table. We had just come from a rage room and it was in the 90s outside, so this truly mattered to our group. In addition to the fries, we also had the spinach dip which was also really good. We didn't see our server as often as I would have liked - namely needed for water refills, but when he was present, he was helpful. Monday night atmosphere was quiet. A healthy amount of other patrons both inside and Al fresco. We enjoyed the variety of TVs offering different channels (such as the AKC agility competition). Only major complaint is for the women's bathrooms. A bit neglected, sink water pressure was very low, and the bathroom stalls were extremely aggressive. Overall, a great establishment! read more

Penrose is a newer brewery... at least in my mind in Fort Collins which feels like each time I come back to visit has more and more breweries loading the city with each visit. Once again continuing with a series of Mexican Lagers for many of the breweries I paid a visit to I got one here as well. And it was a pretty good one as well. The name of it was just Mexican Lager so straight up and simple and directly to the point. Flavor highlights with this Mexican Lager was a lime flavor with crispness following it. It was also a very refreshing beer especially with what felt like to me a minor heat wave occurring on my trip but also I have to realize I am adapted to a coastal climate now and that makes a big difference. At any rate Penrose proved to be a pleasant resting place as I was lining up my itinerary for what would become a very hectic social schedule of a trip. But my brewery stops in between engagements were cherished as I do enjoy time to myself and Penrose provided one of those moments which at the time I was there had a tranquil and chill environment. read more

When I went there I has some of the worst service ever. My waiter came to the table twice in the hour that I was there. My drink was empty for at least 45 minutes and never got filled. After we asked for the check we waited another 30 minutes for the waiter to come pick it up but he never did. We had to take our check up to the front desk and pay there. First visit to Penrose last Friday night. Restaurant was hopping and full even for a January evening. Luckily, we'd made reservations in anticipation of Friday night crowds. We arrive ms shortly before 6 and I was able to sneak in a quick happy hour order. We didn't have time for apps, and for the main meal I chose the salmon. Both the salmon and accompanying risotto were delicious and well prepared. I was able to savor bites and save some for the next day. Even the leftovers held up! The veggie was asparagus. Good both nothing mind-blowing. I would've preferred the Brussels Sprouts I think. Atmosphere inside was fine. Noise level still allowed for conversation. I'd like to come back in warm weather and try the patio. My main critique of the interior ambiance was that the table was sticky even though cleaned. I think it's a poor finish on the tables that gave it the sticky feeling, but it's unpleasant and should be fixed. read more
