I have been a routine customer for this Wilhelm Automative for 3 years and servicing 2 different used cars. Every aspect of their customer service and mechanical work has been very satisfying. They have charged me reasonable costs on the work I chose after receiving a list of primary and secondary needs. Although some of the advised replacements didn't need to happen (and I often chose to only do what was urgent), they were highly proficient, knowledgeable, timely, and helpful in terms of using discounts and their rewards program. The hourly cost of labor is a bit on the high side, but A. You get what you pay for, and B. They do the work with honest swiftness. Furthermore, they always exhibited a strong customer-centered approach by offering me free rides (including Ubers they paid for) to transport me home and back. Finding and marrying a mechanic is up there with the insecurity of obtaining a lawyer or property agent - in terms of trustworthiness to do the right thing and in your best interest. Do not hesitate to give this Wilhelm a shot. Their long-standing reputation in the Valley precedes them. read more

I took my Prius in to get the codes read to see what problems my battery was having. It took them almost a full day of having my vehicle to tell me that my hybrid battery was bad. Then proceeded to tell me the only option was to buy a brand new battery for 3400 after tax. Then charged me $138 to tell me my battery was bad. I then went to someone else who gladly replaced my battery just shy of 1k and said that my experience with Wilhelm was completely unwarranted. Paid $138 to tell me what we already knew. Would not reccomend them. read more

If anyone is ever in search of a good mechanic, hands down I recommend Wilhelm Automotive. They have like seven or eight valley locations. I live literally next door to the Arcadia location, but after the last week, I'd go out of my way to go to them if they weren't right next door. Last week I took my car in. They determined the battery in it had a bad cell and replaced it, but it didn't fix the issue. They ended up spending three days working through a Technical Service Bulletin troubleshooting it. At one point I asked them about their loaner program and they put me in an rental from Enterprise. On Friday they told me it could be one of two things, one would cost $1000, the other would be $2100. They said if we went the cheaper route first and it didn't work, they wouldn't charge me, even if I decided I to forgo the higher repair cost. When I picked up my car, they said, "put some miles on it, hopefully this does the trick. We're going to hold off on charging you and we'll touch base on Monday." After driving 230 miles on Saturday, same errors popped up. On Sunday a friend of mine recommended calling Ford since there was a TSB/recall issued and see if they'd do anything. I went to Wilhelm yesterday morning, told them we were back to square one, and that I'd contacted Ford and was told to bring it in to a dealership so they can decide if they will cover any costs. The service advisor handed over my keys and wished me luck, apologizing for not having been able to get me back on the road. He also told me that Ford said they wouldn't accept a return on the parts they put in my car, so they'd just leave everything the way it is and write it off as a loss. Over the summer I had them replace my mounts. It wasn't cheap, but I sensed their integrity and appreciated their customer service. They may not have resolved the issue this time around, but the way they have conducted themselves has me extremely impressed. Special shout out to Marshall who kept me updated every step of the way and did a great job of articulating the issues in a way that made it easy to understand without feeling like an idiot!!! read more

I found this place on Yelp and glad I did. I came for an oil change and brought my own oil and filter. I was quoted a great price that other places charged more for. This place is also cutely decorated with it's red, gray, and black motif. I enjoyed the homey feel of the lounge and the complimentary water. I felt quite at home. I waited for my oil change to be completed, which didn't take that long at all. They even have free wi-fi. The staff was great and there was no car smell in the lounge at all, very clean and tidy. Wilhelm even has a complimentary shuttle (in a Prius) to drive you home and back. I'm glad I brought my car here and will do so again when I need another oil change. Greatly recommended! read more

We have taken my vehicle, parents, and daughters vehicle there for many years (Goodyear location). They are good for oil changes. however, they then started to say things were wrong and needed repair. One example is the breaks. they were working great and fairly new. after the visit, they supposedly needed repair. the other example is a CV boot, which they stated needed replacement. Because we questioned this, we took it to the Toyota dealership and was informed that everything was actually fine. With these trends, we have decided to move onto a different dealership. read more

I called Wilhelm Automotive today to schedule an appointment for the reconditioning of my battery. I asked the usual questions. How long will it take? How much will it cost? etc. Keep in mind this is a standard service, like an oil change, but much more complicated. The price of this service varies by make, model, battery cells, etc. The price can also change if there are complications, i.e. dead battery cells that need to be replaced, but the base price for the service is known. Well the person who answered the phone refused to tell me how much the service costs. I gave him my make, model and he still insisted that the price was unknown. That the price can change. I asked him to at least tell me the base price so I know how much to budget. The person refused to answer the question. He continued with the answer that the price could vary. I insisted that I understood and if something unexpected came up I wouldn't hold him to the quoted price, I'm just trying to get an understanding of roughly how much I should budget to determine if I can afford it. No luck. After 15 minutes on the phone, I felt like I was dealing with Fort Knox. This is the equivalent of going to a restaurant and the menu not having prices. Even more, it's like asking the waiter for the price of a steak and the waiter stating that he was unsure because the price varies from plate to plate. You guys need to find a better way of answering this question. I'm not the first, nor will I be the last to ask it. read more

SCAM ALERT! I paid over four hundred dollars $400 to get my brakes changed and change some filters. Crazy right? On top of that they CHANGED THE WRONG BRAKES and my car sounds like Crap now. WTF?. Also when I tried to talk to someone on the phone she was EXTREMELY RUDE (she actually YELLED AT ME, who yells?) and just kept telling me to set an appointment and wouldn't listen then SHE SAID SHES GOING TO HANG UP ON ME unless I want to set an appointment. I went to them for oil changes before and thought I could trust them DO NOT TRUST THEM for anything more than $40. Also all my other reviews are 5 stars. I'm a hard person to disappoint but hey if the shoe fits use it to go GO TO ANOTHER MECHANIC If they ever call me back I'd try to fix this but they don't. I dropped my car off to have an issue that was causing an emissions test failure to be fixed. My AC did not work; however, I didn't mention it. When I got my car back, my AC worked again! I don't know if their fixing the issue caused the AC to run cool again, or if they noticed the air didn't work and fixed it; either way, my AC works again, and I appreciate it! So... How does an automotive place get five stars? I came in for several (4) different items on an 06 Sentra. (AC Actuator, Transmission service, power window motor replacement, and oil change) I knew what the approximate cost of most of this should be, based on other quotes, and their quote was actually significantly less! Besides price, scheduling is also a concern for me. They were extremely accommodating, and I was able to get -mostly- everything done in one trip (mind you, this was a bunch of random different stuff). I did have to make one more trip in to finish everything because one part was not available that day, HOWEVER, I was told to bring my car back anytime at my next convenience to finish everything. I had an extra 45 minutes on my way home from work two days later, right around their closing time, and they totally finished the job right then and there - I was so impressed. This place has friendly accommodating staff, great prices, and the ability to get you fixed up on your schedule. What else can you ask for? read more

I made a last-minute decision to give Wilhelm Automotive a try for an oil change because I feel good about giving business to shops in my neighborhood. The shop called to let me know the oil change was done and to notify me of their recommendations: transmission flush, power steering flush, rear brakes, and replacement of both air filters. The total, minus the breaks, was over $400. I paid for the oil change and took my car to another shop (brakes, specifically) for a second opinion. Upon leaving, I found my cabin air filter left on the floor of the passenger seat, unchanged and still in the frame. Also, my brakes mysteriously felt gritty. The second opinion offered a less expensive transmission flush, no recommendation to flush the power steering, air filters changed, and the rear brakes were fine -- 5% use in the front and 30% in the back. They cleaned the brakes beautifully and they felt like new when I drove away. For a $24 oil change, I'd go somewhere else. read more

Honest and genuine It's apparent just by talking to the staff here that they operate with integrity. I was pleased with the work done on my vehicle and the communication throughout the process. They were up front about charges and told me about other repairs they felt my vehicle without pressure. I never felt like I was dealing with salesmen. I'll admit their labor hour pricing is perhaps higher than what you might encounter elsewhere but the work they do is good, the warranty is great and the customer service is fantastic. I've dealt with plenty of shops over the years (good and bad) and am at a place where I'm willing to go somewhere that may not be the CHEAPEST I can find but I know the work will be the best I can get. read more

Fantastic service, friendly staff, reasonable prices, always available and very organized. Being a younger girl I've always felt somewhat taken advantage of going to mechanics and always being unnecessarily up sold/pressured but that has never happened here! If anything- the guys have provided me with a few add on's free of charge with my services. Any issue I've had they have never taken more than 24 hours to get my car in, fixed, and returned back to me. They even covered my Lyft so I didn't have to figure out a way back home which no one has ever offered to do. Overall they are super friendly, offer reasonable prices, and do a great job! Just got my car back after brake job and alignment. Chris took care of me and I can't say enough about him! He told me I needed 2 new tires and I told him Discount Tire would pro-rate my 2 bad tires. They were very thorough and gave a good price to change out my cabin air filter and engine air filter which I knew needed to be replaced. I spoke to Mike, Daniel, and few of the other mechanic that work there and they are very nice and they remember me and my Purple CRV. I got my break done and few other thinks and the both time's I took my car in they only spent a couple hours on it and for me that a big help since I work crazy hours. They are very helpful to the point were a couple days after I got my car fix I heard a noise. I called them up and told them about the noise they told me to bring it in that same day if I was able to and I did they toke care of it right away. I trust Wilhelm for all my automotive work, from the routine to the unexpected. Recently, I had the water pump fail on my truck, which lead to the bottom pan of the radiator blowing out right in the middle of a restaurant parking lot on a Sunday morning. I knew that all I need to do was get to Wilhelm's parking lot and they could take care of it. So I slowly got my truck down the street to the shop with out it over heating any further. I thought this was going to be an expensive repair and take maybe a couple of days to fit into their busy schedule. However, thanks to the talented mechanics and Wilhelm's amazing shop warranty benefit, things turn out to be very affordable and done by Monday evening. Asked for a quote to get an oil change. They recommended they take a look at the car to see what needs to be done. I obliged and they did a multi-point inspection. The recommendations came in and it was well over $1000 worth of work. I asked for photos of the torn bushings and carbonated heads. Got a call back and they said there was a miscommunication with the mechanic and they are just going to do the work for free to ensure I did not think they were trying to rip me off (bushings were not torn). I should say at this point I have had service done here before and generally trust that they do good work but they insisted and did around $350 of work for no charge. First time here and now I'm a loyal customer. Came in for an oil change and general maintenance check expecting to be told that the cabin filter needs to be changed and a bunch of other things but knowing that my daughter changed the cabin filter recently I knew that it was in good order. The mechanic told me that the cabin filter looked brand new and I now know that they are an honest shop unlike most Jiffy Lubes I've used in the past. Goodbye Jiffy Lube and hello Wilhelm Automotive. You can't stay in business since 1928 with bad service. Also they took 15% off with my Costco membership and gave me a bunch of promotional offfers to share. Kudos to Chris and the people at my new automotive garage for all our needs. This place is just amazing, I brought in my Subaru Sambar imported pickup and Steve was able to research and find the appropriate oil filter when most places wouldn't even bother to go the extra mile to ensure the proper part is used. Dishonest prices. Went to get my AC fixed.... and being a female this happens every time I go to take my car in . I grew up in a car family so am not completely dumb when it comes to my vehicle. Even though I'm not under the hood and they could have been right....they werent. I got quoted with them at $210... and got quoted at 2 other places for $60 and $65. I heard that many mechanics do this to woman because we "wouldn't know the difference"...and it's happened to me more than once....so they just lost a potential long term customer....anywhere did a bad review. read more

Just took our PT Cruiser in with a serious, scary brake problem. Even though they were too busy they decided to check a few things before my appointment in a couple days. They found the problem almost immediately as a missing cap on a vacuum line! It was a simple fix and they sent me on my way NO CHARGE!!
