Clean spaces, humming activity, and the front office, thanks Chris, who took the time to explain everything that could be wrong, based on my comments. My husband is a retired mechanic and knew what should be needed. They nailed it! Gave me the price and it was in the ballpark for what I'd looked at online. They respect the fact that you made an appointment, they are thorough and NO PRESSURE, once they evaluate your vehicle you can budget for future repair needs. We have a 2013 ML350 Mercedes SUV we brought in for service on 12/9/2016. I have the receipt. As we don't drive it much, we just had the 60,000 mile service done now which included changing the engine air filter. It turns out that the gaskets, which are supposed to be reusable were so badly damaged, new ones had to be ordered. Additionally, a plastic part was broken and repaired with silicon (the part is about $540.00 from Mercedes and is special order) No more Wilhelm. More damage than repair. read more

Had them look at a car we were interested in buying with since our regular mechanic was too far away from the seller. Paid $100 for them to let us know if there were any problems, since we were too far away to do it ourselves. The prepurchase inspection was okay. They missed a couple things, but it's what you'd expect from a chain. But then, when we went to go purchase the car and do a test drive ourselves, (after a 2 hour drive) we found out that the car was a completely different model than the seller had listed the car for and told us! Not just a different trim, but a whole model! Shame on the seller for that, but also shame on Wilhelm for not even mentioning that. You'd assume that for the money they could give us the most obvious and crucial piece of information about the car! That it's not the car you think it is. Their response was that it was an issue with the seller, not them. After the lackluster service and the dismissal of any professionalism, Wilhelm has been quite the disappointment. Assuredly, phoenix has great mechanics. Wilhelm just isn't one of them. read more

They gave honest assessments of several things that needed attention but also prioritized them not trying to sell everything like a dealer. They did very good work, added a little bit of attention to one repair that required the vehicle to be brought back and was taken care of right away and correctly. On 7/28/15, a day before my total hip replacement, I went to Wilhelm Automotive Auto Repair with an oil change coupon, and came out with an Estimate #0008468, for service needed that said: REMOVE & REPLACE WATER PUMP Leaking 1 NEW WATER PUMP Parts $149,49 Labor $435.05 Job Total $584.54 COOLING SYSTEM FLUSH Parts $104.46 Labor $63.00 Job Total $167.46 And an unbelievable $816.11 Total Estimate Gina Beam told me that I had to replace the water pump immediately. Scared, right before I went to the 'knife' I left my car in the hands of two professional service repairmen, one of whom had replaced the water pump only in March. They both agreed there was no leak, and NOTHING was wrong with my car. This was a total scam and I will never visit any Wilhelm Automotive Auto Repair Center again! read more

My engine RPM always seemed to rev up to high on start up. They said it wasn't normal and they would do some diagnostics for about a $100 and make a recommendation. The called me back and said the throttle body needed to be cleaned for about an additional $200 and that would solve the problem. I agreed. When I went in to pick up the car they informed me that - unfortunately this didn't fix the problem and that I would need to have the throttle body replaced for over $1000. So I ended up paying them more than $300 with absolutely nothing to show for it. I had another shop look at it. They said their was nothing wrong with the throttle body and that some of this was normal for my car. For $100 they did some adjustments that got the engine start up and idle speed down to what it should be. read more

We know we have always paid up for Wilhelm but you get what you pay for...this however revealed the character of the individuals to whom I spoke...I wasn't looking for a refund just a possible misrepresentation by the store to my wife who authorized a $1600 replacement of struts for a 4 year old, 25,000 soft miles chevy expedition. Brought my car into this shop because it came recommended to me for my German car. This place quoted me 50% markup on the part I needed. They said the parts came straight from the dealer even though the dealer price was half of what they wanted and that wasn't including the $400 in labor for what shows was a 2 hour job. Needless to say I will not be taking my car back to them! Update time. After they took my valve cover off i now have a crack in the the cover, which is a $300 part. As I appreciate them telling me everything is good internally I'm not to please that it was broken and then put back on the car causing a massive oil leak. My car is full of expensive oem parts and usually if someone breaks something you would think they would replace it. If I could give 0 stars I would. Beware of this place for they break stuff and don't fix it just put it back on with no regard to the customer! read more

Where do i begin? Check Engine light was on and i knew i needed a new coolant control flow valve from prior diagnostic testing. I have owned the car 7 years without one single problem. Drove it there, dropped it off, and then didn't receive a phone all day with an update. My time is not valuable so i had to call them. Guess what they told me? Oh sir, did u know your battery is dead? You can imagine my surprise. Can you say sabotage? Chris was kind enough to give me the new battery for free. Interesting? Two weeks later the brake actuator needed to be replaced. Chris quoted me $3100 to replace it. Took it to the dealership and they quoted 1700. My wife looked on the Internet and found out there is a service bulletin on it, and we actually got it fixed for free! Another strange thing, Chris offered to buy my car for $1000. Claims he did not know about the bulletin. Strange or screwed? Never going there again. Even if it was free. read more

Great customer service! I dealt mainly with Mike at the Thomas and 52nd Street location. He honestly cared and took care of any problems we ran into. My car was towed to their shop, they ran a diagnostic promptly the next morning and called me at work like they said they would. Mike gave me some options, like getting a used motor at a junk yard or selling my car and buying a new one..he knew one of my concerns was being a single female and not wanting to get "screwed" over. He was more like a friend than anything. He was patient with me and let me keep my car with a blown motor at their shop until I could figure out what I was going to do. I ended up selling it and Mike gave me much needed info on the title and stuff that I had no clue about in regards to selling my car to a private seller. When I met someone at the shop to let him look at my car (because he was going to buy it), Mike asked me if I felt comfortable showing my car, if not, he'd go outside with me and talk to the potential buyer. He was WONDERFUL, hands down. He even let me hop on the computer to print a document that I needed in order to sell my car. Mike offered me a discount because I had a bill from the work they had to put into my car to see if the motor was even blown. Having found out my motor was blown, I was totally bummed that I owed about $700 and the car was not running. Luckily, Mike worked with me, dropped the price way down to give me a break PLUS, I didn't have to pay him right away. I paid the bill off when I met the guy at Mike's shop to sell my car. Probably the most trustworthy and reliable mechanic I've been too. AND I was referred here as well because of their customer service and no bullshit work ethic. :) read more

It was such a help to be able to drop my vehicle off and get a ride to work by them. Who still does that nowadays!! When my vehicle was done I was picked up by one of their courtesy rides, and the Gentleman at front desk explained what was done to my vehicle and what I might want to think about getting done next. He didn't try to over sell me with services that weren't necessary and I actually understood what he was explaining. Best part of all this, was the cost of my service!...Very affordable and I love that they offer rewards program toward services. I will definitely be back to service my other vehicles!
