I suspected that my car AC had a leak so I came here to get it repaired. I dropped my car off at 8am and they ordered me a complimentary uber home. I had to call at 1pm to get an update and then my car wasn't ready til 4pm and I had to find my own ride. They did an overall car inspection while they had my car and included a few notes for me. I recently had an issue with a broken visor hinge on my Jeep Wrangler. I contacted Jim and he quickly and professionally assessed the issue and ordered the parts. Once the parts arrived a time that worked best for me was scheduled to bring my Jeep in and the issue was fixed right the first time at a great price while I waited. There are lots of places to get your car fixed but Hi Tech is levels above the rest. Started 3 generations ago in 1948 this family run business has been a Top Shop for over 2 decades running. They perform good work here, but on two occasions they have quoted us a price when we bring it in and then tell us the actual bill for the service is going to be several hundred dollars more than the original quote. After our last service, I was charged double the amount is typically charged for an a/c recharge. They said the price was so high because they needed to get a new machine to complete the recharge on my vehicle. I would be wary of this place in the future. read more

I had a horrible past experience with Fiat Tempe, with an intermittent issue that was supposed to be fixed when my car was still under warranty but was not fixed. Anyways fast forward, I looked on Yelp for good rated shops and found this place. I called and explained my issue, the guy (so sorry I forgot his name) was super helpful and informative, he looked into the issue and even called me back. He told me to swing by so they could take a quick look at it and we'd go from there. I came by, all the guys in the front office were helpful, read the code on my car, and told me what I needed to do. So far my car has been fine. PROS: * Very clean bathroom for customers * Employees seemed clean cut and extremely neat and organized (like "OCD organized") CONS: * Parts & Labor way overpriced * Suspect them of dishonesty CONCLUSION: Neat, clean & organized doesn't NECESSARILY also mean honest... BACKSTORY: We are selling our 21 year old well-maintained and very lightly used Mustang with under 100K miles. Although having been repainted the factory color twice, the Arizona sun had taken its toll on the paint job because it was starting to peel on the hood and roof. We had bought a brand new Subaru Ascent that was more useful for our planned trips after retirement, and so rather than repaint the Mustang AGAIN, we are selling it. Some longtime customers of Hi-Tech Car Care (a dad & daughter) were very interested in buying it. I'm not sure of their main connection with "Jim" at Hi-Tech Care Care, but maybe they are members of the same church? She ran the CarFax and then wanted to meet. Her dad looked it over for 45 minutes and grilled my husband about every detail. He Test Drove it and then, without asking or any warning, GUNNED it HARD on a surface street while my husband was in the passenger seat. I hope he didn't do any damage. I was back at the park, keeping his daughter cool in the A/C of our new Subaru (103° at the time). Despite many emails back and forth with the daughter about setting up a viewing and test drive at a nearby park, she NEVER asked whether we would allow them to get an Inspection done UNTIL we were at the park... I said fine. She offered to pay the $100 for "HER mechanic," (i.e., Hi-Tech Car Care). We made the appt, and I mentioned to the shop that I was aware that there was some relationship between their shop and the dad/daughter, and that I hoped I could TRUST their shop to give a FAIR assessment. I also mentioned that any supposed work that the car might need should not be commenced, because we would have it done either by my husband (who is an excellent genius backyard mechanic and has been dutifully maintaining the car for 20 years), or that we would take it to our OWN shop for any work that would require a professional. I explained that the car had very low miles, I was the Original Owner, had only lightly driven it to run local errands for 20 years, and that there shouldn't be anything major wrong with it because my husband has taken excellent care of it. I even asked if there was a window in the waiting room where customers could see the Inspection being done. His tone quickly went sour, but he made the appointment. (From reading other reviews here, I knew they also keep video of all work that is done in the garage, ALTHOUGH it didn't sound like they have always been willing to SHARE it with customers, and at least 1 reviewer here claimed they monkeyed with the video they eventually shared with HIM.) We arrived on time and went shopping/lunch nearby in the new Subaru (trying to trust them). When we returned to a side parking spot at the shop, we saw that they had moved the Mustang out of the garage and we waited in our Subaru for them to call us. After about 10 minutes, I called THEM and they said it was ready... The Inspection Report was extremely overblown and falsely negative. One particular critique was about a leak at the transmission pan. For a goof, I asked what that would cost to replace (parts & labor). It took about 5 minutes to print out an estimate of about $562. This informed my husband of "everything he needed to know about them." (Later, when we got home he said he could replace it himself for $20 (if he kept the new tranny fluid that was already in there)). To give them even more "rope" to show their true colors, I asked the shop about what it would cost to fix ALL the gigs on the Report, and he said about $4K (which is exactly our asking price for the Mustang -- I wonder if that's just a coincidence because we never told him our selling price, although the dad/daughter surely did). It seems he wanted to PUNISH us for my questioning the shop's honesty at the outset by trying to ensure the dad/daughter would buy another car they were considering instead, which in ITSELF is also dishonest. IOW being dishonest bc your honesty was questioned. Once we got home, I went over ALL the "problems" on the Report with my husband and they were mostly similarly wildly overstated, EXCEPT about the paint job, which everyone already knew about. You can PROBABLY trust this shop IF you have some pre-existing personal or business relationship with them. But I'm not so sure about anyone ELSE. UPDATE: A few days later we sold the Mustang to an enthusiastic buyer for cash. The husband and wife also treated us to lunch. They drove all the way down from Prescott. They didn't even want to test drive it. They drove it home to Prescott. read more

AVOID HI-TECH AT ALL COSTS! Hi-Tech was in possession of my vehicle for nearly 3 weeks for what should have been a straight-forward repair, but instead turned it into an absolute nightmare. They continuously lied to me about the status of my vehicle-- each day it was a different story: they broke something, the wrong part was sent, they need to order a specialized tool, etc.; all the while I am paying exorbitant amounts in rental car fees and my vehicle was not any closer to being drivable. They ended up driving my vehicle (with an improperly placed timing chain/engine light on, risking complete engine failure) to my manufacturer's service center and subsequently abandoning it there because they could not properly diagnose why the engine was rattling (even though even a quick google search will prove it's an issue with the timing belt, which they did not tighten enough due not having the proper tool do so). I was then forced to pay substantially more for the job due to all the "repairs" made by Hi-Tech having to be completely redone and parts replaced (which they submitted a warranty refund request for?). Meanwhile, Gary and Jim had the audacity to harass and scold me, as well as the service department at my dealership for providing me updates on MY vehicle. Not once have I received an apology or even an ounce of remorse for the absolute waste of time, resources, and sanity this business caused me. They have zero business working on luxury vehicles (or perhaps any) because they do not back the knowledge or expertise to do so. It would have saved me a lot of time/money if they would have been honest from the beginning that this kind of repair is out of their scope of practice. Perhaps fine for an oil change-- but anything more than that they simply cannot handle. read more

For any Tesla owner DO NOT take your car into this establishment for service. I was drawn to the site as they advertise as a working on Tesla's. I went in for a simple wheel alignment they clearly were not knowledgeable on the car. Went to say i needed over 3k in parts to adjustment camber when it really only calls for rear camber adjustment and those parts are less then 400 dollars and its only for the rear NOT all for tires as I was told. A few things that should have raised red flags 1.) While there pictures of my car was taken while on the lift w/o any approval 2.) . This is taken directly from their website "The engine oil and oil filter must be changed at least once a year in your Tesla. We at Hi-Tech Car Care recommend changing your engine oil and oil filter every 3000 miles. This will keep your Tesla Car running at its best? Tesla's DO NOT HAVE AN ENGINE OR OIL FILTER!!! I cannot speak for how they work on other cars, but they should not advertise as working on tesla's and make video's about tesla's as if they are experts. Do not get ripped off. Better play it safe and schedule an appt w/ Tesla or go and find a list of certified Tesla service shops read more

I'm giving this 2 stars since I had a planned appointment 2 weeks in advance just to diagnose (and hopefully fix) the ignition which was turning over intermittently. They informed me they contract this out and so it's important I keep my appt since they're scheduling with the contractor for the day I'm supposed to bring in my vehicle. My BF brought my vehicle in on the scheduled date (Friday) and they told him they won't even be able to look at it until Tuesday and that it will probably take 3 weeks to fix. Seriously? Even if they had to replace it after ordering the part it should only take a few hours. The fact that they said it wouldn't even get looked at for 4 days when I scheduled 2 weeks in advance is ridiculous! My BF popped the hood and saw the anti-theft wire connection was dirty and he cleaned it out and got it to start but called someone that was going to replace it and the ignition on a house call. It was going to be my first time coming to this place but I'll never call them again. read more

I have been here twice in the past month, and both times they were great. The first time my car was making a really weird noise on starting but it would go away when the car was warmed up and I had no clue what it was. A few friends suggested some fixes, but eventually I had tried them and the noise was getting worse. I had no clue how to describe the noise, so I said something weird, and they were very understand and able to get my car in quickly. When I played a recording of the noise Justin immediately went, "Oh, I know what that is." I was called later that day with a quote. Even though they don't offer loaner cars, they had an employee drive me to my rental car agency. When I went to go and pick my car up, the rental car agency was a bit late dropping me off, but Justin stayed late so he could explain everything and show me pictures of what had been wrong. They even saved me the parts in case I needed them for my warranty since another shop had replaced the timing belt kit just under two years before and it was still under the nation wide warranty. Hi-Tech's warranty is better than the previous one, too. After I got my car back, they contacted me to get my transmission fluid flushed, and they were able to schedule an appointment for me and had it done that day. But the thing that really stands out is that I have anxiety. Mildly stressful or annoying situations for most people like needing a car repair and not having a ride to the rental car agency can become really stressful for me and Justin was so understanding and calm, even when I was attempting to describe the issue and making absolutely no sense. read more

Took my car here to have my alignment done and check the suspension for a crunch sound when going over speedbumps. Quoted me $2,800 for just short of a whole new suspension system on front and back. Even said that the alignment could not be done until this work was complete. Took the car to another shop, oddly right in front of this place, and a new set of tires and $500 later for a control arm bushings and alignment and I'm down the road.
