The lady behind the counter was on the phone. After she hung up I was still browsing through the sale fabric. She didn't acknowledge me at all even though we were about 3 feet apart. They have a wonderful selection of quilting fabric. I was impressed by how much fabric there was at a sewing & vacuum store. There's also notions and some quilting books. The other woman working there wasn't friendly either. Even when I brought up my fabric to be cut, I got a chilly reception from the first lady by the front door.

Clearly only part of the staff takes Covid-19 seriously and doesn't care about us quilters and many of us are in a very high risk group!

The store is large, bright and cheerful, clean, well stocked and organized. Same owner as the store by Saturday Market but a much larger footprint and space to actually see everything and shop comfortably. I love long flowing skirts and they have dozens in gauze or cotton, solids and prints like ikat and paisley. Wide leg, billowy pants in an array of patterns and pant lengths are in abundance. Plus tanks, maxi dresses, shawls, ponchos, hats and scarves. The clothing for men is in similar prints and patterns. Button up shirts, pullovers and wide cotton pants. My fave is their long sleeve cotton shirts made in Tiabet with graphic prints of The Tree of Life, sea turtles, elephants, the sun.p, etc. The more you wash them, the softer they get; they are soooocomfortable! I wear them going to and from the gym or just running errands. People always stop me and compliment them. Today I bought a charcoal gray with a graphic print of two entwined elephants. Like the other Kathmandu stores, there are lots of Hindu goddess statues, meditation bowls, tapestries, ponchos, shawls, beaded bracelets, an entire shelf along the wall stocked with incense, some silver jewelry and lots of pillows. I'm happy they moved into Lloyd Center since I workout just across the street. Plus it's a much better layout than the NW store.

When my nieces came to live with us they had to leave almost everything they owned behind. One thing that one of them missed was her favorite pair of earrings. Since it was almost her birthday I was thinking of what kind of special gift I could get her and I thought about those earrings she is always talking about. They were nothing fancy or terribly expensive but she loved them anyway. So with her sisters help we started searching the internet but we were not having any luck. Finally I said " I wonder how much it would cost to have them made?" After a little more searching my daughter said "What about that one lady we met on First Friday?" Long story short I sent the two girls off to inquire on how much it would cost to make the earrings. They came back and said the earrings would be ready in a couple of days and they were only going to cost $20!!! The very next day I received a text from Shayla Lynn Jewelry saying that the earrings were ready for pick up! Once again I sent my niece off to pick them up and they were perfect! Exactly what we asked for! I can't say enough how thrilled we were with Shayla! Thank you so much! Oh and my niece absolutely loved them! ( I could not wait for her birthday and gave them to her early!)
