All of the staff from front to back and up to the Dentist are amazing. Went in with anxiety through the roof after years of not going to a dentist and neglecting my teeth. Very reassuring, not judge mental or rude at all. Hygienist was awesome and Dentist is straight forward with her plan and about as transparent as anyone could be. Really lost all of my nervousness and anxiety once talking with all of them. Super impressed and won't dread going to dentist from now on. Another appointment down and feeling great! After waiting WAY too long to have a tooth extracted and eventually being compelled to finally go to the dentist by severe pain, they confirm yes, the tooth that has been rotting and draining rotten juice into your mouth HAS TO come out ASAP. Then they schedule me for almost TWO MONTHS OUT. I wait through with frequent headaches, toothaches and what feels like severe ear infection caused by the tooth to FINALLY get to my appointment date and my Drs office the calls me the morning of the extraction to tell me the Dr has to cancel the appointment and they try to schedule me out another MONTH! I call back to advocate for myself and my well being and explain that I have had dental trauma and have severe anxiety around dental work (so much so that I usually do dental work under general). I'm on the phone for 22min explaining my anxiety and need for the rotten tooth to come out. They schedule me for the next morning three towns over in Tacoma. Finally some good news... Nope. I get to Tacoma Willamate Dental only to be informed that my visit is an "emergency visit" and that NO nitrous is even available because it's an emergency appt. Even though I had been responsible and set my appt almost TWO MONTHS AGO. And now because my dentist cancelled last minute and the home office didn't think to consider telling them about the conversation where I explain severe anxiety, I have to white knuckle my way through them breaking my tooth And having to drill and pull it out in chunks. I was shaking with anxiety and livid with anger from the visit and got a speeding ticket on my way home. Screw Willamate Dental and their HORRIBLE continuity of care or concern for patients. If they provide those things they certainly didn't to me. Oh yeah, and there was NO conversation about adding bone meal into the socket after the extraction. Didn't think about it until a few hours later when I was able to stop shaking. My intention had been to have posts installed and teeth mounted to the posts. Or at the very least minimize tooth drift in my mouth where I already have two molars extracted and bone meal added. But nope. Not even mentioned as an option. read more

I've been a patient here for several years. Something to be aware of is that if your teeth look healthy, they will only schedule routine cleanings once a year, instead of every 6 months that most dentist offices recommend. I am fine with that as an adult. However, after having my first child within the last two years, I learned that they will only schedule dental appointments for children once a year also, which goes against what my child's pediatrician recommends: once every 6 months. I will be switching dental providers. read more

Same experience as previous reviews. Appointments cancelled without cause- after my husband took time off work. Called about scheduling a procedure the Dentist ordered but computer wouldn't "open a slot" for my procedure because dentist charted it wrong. They also lied about leaving me a voicemail when they did not. This place is a dental chop shop- they are just trying to get patients in and out as cheaply as possible. Hygienist was short tempered with my anxious child and unprofessional with me- talking about how tired they are while doing something in my mouth. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. You know what really sucks the Willamette Dental plan? The CO$t!!!!! I have been paying this company BIG Buck$ for 20 plus years!! I have gone to them for my clean-up's and fillings (while they drill and weaken the walls of my teeth). BUT, when my teeth crack and break, because of their actions, the ONLY covered action is to YANK the tooth! WTF!? They want to charge me $10K for an implant!!!!???...The only covered option is YANK THE TOOTH! It's amazing they don't charge for the Novocaine injection. Actually, I found out they use Lidocaine because, of course, it's cheaper and weaker than Novicaine. This is CAVEMAN DENTISTRY !!!! Remember Tom Hanks in Cast Away performing is own tooth extraction? Same thing at Willamette; At least Tom had a water front view! It's is criminal!! While their CEO's drive around in their Mercedes Benz's pulling up to their Million dollar waterfront home$ ....I work in the Health Care Industry, I know what goes on!....They don't care what's best for you...The company only cares about THE BOTTOM LINE...PERIOD! Remember Willamette CEO's...KARMA IS REAL! Oh, one last thing. I am very impressed with how professional and skilled all of the administrative help, dentists, and assistants are! We did have to wait for a while for our first appointments, but once treatment started they were great about accommodating our schedules. We drive over 100 miles to these appointments, and they have been wonderful about making sure we get appointments that are beneficial for avoiding traffic. We also had excellent work done. I got a bridge, and the denturist and his assistant are highly skilled and very personable. They did an excellent job, and I have never had a better-fitting appliance! I am giving a one star review because there is no option for 0 stars or for the closure of the clinic. Attached is a photo of what I looked like at my appointment where I also described my wisdom tooth pain. Dentist told me everything is fine and to swish around salt water. For several days after, I called many times with extreme pain and worsening symptoms and they did nothing but refuse to approve any sort of dental work. Had to call emergency number at 2AM one night for them to finally prescribe me something because they continued to refuse to see me and would not approve a prescription to extract my wisdom tooth. With each call, I described my symptoms, and how they continue to get far worse. After a week of tears, no sleep, missing work, being absolutely broken, and calling with the same symptoms- they suggested to go to the emergency room where I found out I had an obvious dental abscess and I need to get that wisdom tooth removed immediately. Still, it took Willamette many days to even approve a referral for extraction. Once I showed up to oral surgery (not associated with Willamete), the surgeon was very confused and upset that it took me this long to get to surgery because this was easily noticeable and most likely will result in loss of surrounding teeth and could have been life threatening if untreated for any longer. Concluding this, all I cared about was getting the rest of my wisdom teeth out to avoid this happening again. Willamette refused this because they don't do "preventative care". I attempted to plead my case which took several months for a decision, which resulted in no approval for extraction if I'm not having pain and a refusal of covering even 1 cent of my emergency room bill for a serious infection that they missed and caused from a lack of proper care. They're decision was to save money and not pay for treatments that could be unnecessary longer term. A few weeks later, same situation happened and and they approved the removal of just one more wisdom tooth, but not the others. A few more weeks and the same situation happened, resulting in 3 separate surgeries for 3 separate wisdom teeth. Willamette dental group prides their practice on not pursuing "preventive care" of any kind... which is ultimately what the dentist is for. At the Olympia clinic, the Asian dentist should resign as a result of malpractice. The company itself is an absolute disgrace to the medical field and deserves all the negative reviews that it continues to get. The main decision for not approving any sort of financial assistance for the emergency room visit was because the hospital was not within 50 miles of the clinic- but the hospital was 25 miles away. Anyone in a career of law and justice should highly consider spending a minute amount of time in developing a lawsuit to close this clinic (because of how easy it would be) and help many good people avoid a dental practice that does more harm than good. read more

We have been happy patients here for over 6 years. Recently they switched over to a 800 number and won't give out the local locations phone number. Since then, EVERY single appt I tried to schedule has been rescheduled to a different time by the local office only days before my appt. When I schedule an appt for a specific time, it's because that time frame works for my schedule. Needless to say, I have cancelled 6 appointments now. I hesitate to even bother scheduling again. Once it is open enrollement time, I will be switching dentist and insurance companies. read more

They are very inconsiderate of the patient's time. Dentist asked me to come in 30 minutes early for novocaine, so I did. I then sat in waiting room for over an hour. The receptionist made me wait while she repeatedly attempted to place a Chipotle food order online, called the store, tried to use the app, called the store again. So once they take me back it's another 30 minutes for the novocaine. If your insurance requires you to go here, don't show up early. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I have heard horrible things about this company but of course it's the closest option for my boyfriends emergency so it can't be that bad, right? He was suffering from insane pain coming from his wisdom tooth so he scheduled an appointment for them to take a look. Face all swollen he sits down in the chair and they start cleaning his teeth like he is coming in for a routine cleaning!!!! He redirects the work and shows them his swollen cheek along with the irritated tooth and they confidently tell him to rinse his mouth with water and it will be good. He does what he is told in excruciating pain and in the middle of the night two days later we head off to the emergency room. The doctor comes in and pokes around as puss starts spewing from the infected tooth. He has a dental abscess which is DEADLY if mistreated! He was given pain meds but then sent on his way to hopefully book an appointment with an oral surgeon. That was a nightmare, it took 3 whole days to get an EMERGENCY surgery with Willamette Dental group. They took their sweet time getting the referral passed so we could get it covered by insurance. Not only were they not kind but unprofessional. We were billed continuously the whole year for a surgery that was "covered." Their lack of care ended with being misdiagnosed completely. This could not have been avoided with a good old water and rinse method that they where sure would solve it. He is terrified of the dentist for life. If you like taking trips to the ER this could ultimately be a great place for you!! read more

Waited 6 weeks for an appt at an alternate location 20 miles away from our nearest location. Recurved a hang up call from their office so I returned call. They said in the charts they had left a vm but they did not. Cancelled my appt scheduled for tomorrow after six week wait due to staff shortage. Call your carrier and get new provider. I will be getting a refund from my insurance agent because they cannot offer coverage and take your premium and not be able to offer service. So not only as they I'll prepared but then lied on top of it and said they left a message. Eric who answered the phone was seasoned in dealing with unhappy unsatisfied patients. This is a lengthy review but sooooo worth the time to type and so worth the time to read if you're having trouble finding a good dental office I was going to wait to write a review until my next appointment (which was supposed to be yesterday) but they showed so much great customer service when I wasn't even into my next appointment yet I HAD to do a review! I'm just in complete shock with my struggling experience with dental and medical in the past years!: I've seen so many negative reviews. But oh my gosh.. I've been in so much pain for almost 2 months now due to a horizontally impacted wisdom tooth and cavities forming. Excruciating jaw aches, earaches, headaches and discomfort in my mouth. It's been hard to eat and sleep and even stand up due to pressure. I've cried and cried. Went in for my first appointment for exam and cleaning.. of course the cleaning hurt a bit when it came to my wisdom tooth area but the staff were all so comforting and compassionate helping me through all the way (I absolutely ADORED the woman doing my X-rays and cleaning my teeth I need to find her name!!! So friendly so nurturing and an absolute gem. We talked about our kids and she even gave me a goody bag full of kid dental items for my kids which they loved!). The dentist Dr. Minhas was so Smiley and very personable and very knowledgeable. He informed me of dental hygiene and sent me home with a cavity preventing toothpaste and a dental grade mouth wash which I've used religiously. I've never felt so much warmth from a dental office.. unfortunately I do have to wait to get my wisdom tooth out (not their fault) but they are extremely accommodating and even said they are actively trying to expedite the process of my oral surgery and getting me in.. I finally cried with relief yesterday and not from the pain because they had called me yesterday when I was trying to come in for an appointment due to extreme discomfort and gave me the info about pushing the referral and helping relieve the agony. I seriously cannot thank them enough. I don't think they realize how grateful I truly am to be able to have dinner last night and have a full night sleep and overall just to be heard and not have to live in silence with pain.. Bless this entire staff. My mother was even crying along side me when I got that phone call yesterday. And I say again they truly don't realize what that empathy that they showed me in the dental/medical field means to me.. Thank you so much. Also!!! When they called me initially I had no service because I was heading to my appointment (I live an hr away from the dental office) but they left a voicemail and I called immediately when I got service. They told me I didn't have to come in but I could if I still needed to be seen after they sent medicine for my wisdom tooth to my pharmacy. The woman from the office and I got busy with questions and her answering them that we forgot to confirm if I was coming in or not. BUT right before the appointment time she had called me again just to be sure if I was coming in or not (I was not I would already be way late because of stopping to call just so I had service) she said "No problem! And you won't be charged for this appointment or anything!" The whole staff is just absolutely on top of their game. read more

First time here. I have to admit I was a little anxious about coming to Willamette after hearing feedback from others. I saw Dr. Chavez. She is amazing! Talked to me respectfully and in laypersons terminology. They took me in early for my cleaning and gave me an unexpected filling the same day! I highly recommend this office. Nice staff, awful HMO insurance. I would not recommend any of my friends to get this insurance if they have a choice, unless it's someone that has no potential major dental problems and has no Amalgam fillings that could go bad. Also may be OK if you believe absolutely 100% in all of conventional dentistry with everything they say. I didn't realize I had such a problem with conventional dentistry until I ended up needing to research on root canals and extractions, and needing removal of an Amalgam filling that went bad. But it was too late then; I was stuck with this insurance until next open enrollment. Main problem is that they're an HMO and only allow you to see Willamette dentists. Occasionally insurance would approve Willamette dentists to refer you to a specialist that's contracted with them. But not when you want them to. Wilamette dentist tried to refer me to oral surgeon so I could get something done (PRF) that their regular dentist can't do. But they rejected the referral;they will make me pay 100% out of pocket if I go to oral surgeon or another dentist. Also, Willamette doesn't do all of the protocols for safe Amalgam removal that the IAOMT says should be done; they only do some of the things but not all. I don't want to subject myself to toxic levels of Mercury, so will not be getting that done with them. True, there are a lot of conventional dentists that also don't follow IAOMT's protocols. But, if you were able to choose a PPO dental plan that allows you to go out of network (or even some non-Wilamette dentists that may be in their network), there are plenty of choices all over the state that will do all IAOMT's procedures, the "SMART" protocol. If you only have choice to get an HMO plan, I'm not sure how it compares with other dental HMOs. But my opinion is the best choice is to get a PPO plan instead. You may have to pay more %, but at least you'll be able to get the care you want without paying 100% out of pocket for anything they can't or won't do at Willamette, especially if you discover you would rather have a more holistic dentist. (Tip: you also may want to get a dentist that could sometimes give you a CT scan/cone beam/3D xray. Those are really helpful for checking out whether a tooth really needs a root canal or extraction, and to follow up if you have any old root canals or extractions. 3D xray could tell you if the root canal is infected or reinfected, which happens a lot with root canals, and could tell you if the extraction had a cavitation.) I don't think Wilamette office has a CT scanner, though perhaps the endodontist they refer to may have one. For me, the CT scan where I went to an outside source to get a 2nd opinion, was extremely helpful in diagnosis. I was told, based on cold testing, that 2 teeth needed either root canals or extraction, but further cold testing later and a CT scan clarified that actually only 1 was a concern. Even if you decide to have Willamette insurance, it doesn't cost that much to go to an outside place to get a CT scan done occasionally if you need a better diagnosis. read more

I have had an absolutely horrific experience after going to this dental office. I had x-rays done, and was told I had a handful of cavities. None of these cavities had hurt, yet. After getting one filled, I experienced increasingly worse nerve pain. When I went back in, they told me my nerve was "irreparably damaged" due to the filling. The dentist told me it was possible my nerve was more damaged than they thought already, but the dental assistant was honest with me, and said this happens when they drill too deep. They performed an emergency root canal, but only part of it. They told me to come back in a month to get the rest completed. (Also, this was extremely painful, and the dentist had poor beside manner, it was only the dental assistant that got me through it). I had changed my insurance already due to my distrust in this office, and when I went to a new dentist, they told me that I basically needed the entire root canal redone, let me know that I had many more cavities than I had been told, and stated the fillings they had done had overflow and were not cleaned up properly. On top of this, I began having excruciating pain in the tooth with the incomplete root canal, to the point where it feels as if my tooth is ready to fall out. I chose Willamette Dental because I thought that getting a filling was like getting a haircut - any trained dentist could do it without issue. I was wrong. I deeply regret choosing this dental office, and wish I could get back the months of pain they caused. read more

Any questions or concerns are always handled with the utmost care & respect. They will get you in the same day or early the next if any problems might arise.
