Finally, a good dentist that shows care for the patient. And is a good dentist technically. After 20+ years with my old dentist, who just retired, I went to two other dentists looking for good care. And neither of those dentists showed any care for the patient. One of them didn't even shop up for a scheduled appointment. You could tell, they just wanted the money. Oh what a PLEASURE it was to come across this dental office even if the circumstances were horrible. My son had a horrific tooth ache and I reached out to this office per something there ad said on the internet. The receptionist/office assistant-manager, Heather is truly an added to this office. Her whole demeanor is calming and delightfully lovely and remains that way. She also seems to listen and recall conversation details - quite a skill when dealing with patients in any office, but especially so in a dental office (who wants to be there?). Back story to this visit: We had taken our son to an emergency visit 2 nights prior. He notified us that he was in level 10 pain and sought help for him. He had no insurance and we knew options few. We found a willing dentist. After being at this dentist's office he asks for $1900 to extract the tooth and do a bone graft. We just needed to extract the tooth and decline the graft. He refused. We chose to pass and paid over $400 for the visit and X-rays. Willes Dental knew we had just gone through that experience. They were so exceptional in their care. So very kind. My husband has been needing dental work and we have chosen to move forward with them. The staff and dentist are great and the office is so relaxing and calming. No Insurance- Cash Patient. Well over a year later- Tooth still hurts every. single. day. Since April 2016 I have a very high pain threshold. The dentist was definitely in a hurry, and when I needed more anesthetic he seemed outwardly upset :/ which was very upsetting to me. A little to late to leave at that point (I wish I had!!!!!!!) I called and let them know my tooth was still hurting- I was met with my tooth should not hurt, but it's normal for the gums to be inflamed, I was probably confusing the tooth pain with gum pain, and to give it more time. So I did, TOOTH still hurt, so I had my friend (that recommended them to me at the time, but no longer comes here) call to see if he could get through to them. Same response basically Nothing. Confusing tooth and gum pain. Well my gum appears just fine, but every time I touch my tooth, or the worst is when I floss, I feel pain. Every single day. Every single time I floss. I wish I had gone somewhere else. 2018 Update- Tooth still hurts; especially every single time I attempt to floss it. Thanks willies. Not. Hopefully I'll have enough saved soon that I can go somewhere that ACTUALLY CARES to figure out what is wring and correctly fix it. read more

Visit to Willes Dental cost me my health and a lot of money. Some time ago, I cracked two fillings on opposite sides of the mouth. So, I went on looking for a dentist in the area. Upon reading reviews, I decided to visit Dr. Willes - this decision I would regret later. Both fillings had been replaced within two days during two visits. Procedures were done in a hurry without isolation of the working areas. A couple of months later, within a couple of days, both teeth turned necrotic, developed large abscesses with excruciating pain as result of infection introduced during the procedures performed by Dr. Willes. After two root canal procedures with removal of the necrotic pulp, antibiotics, I am finally at the final stage of crowning both teeth. However, my problems do not end here because of the substantial bone loss caused by the infection. I was left with thousands of dollars in damages, not accounting for the lost time, pain, and suffering. Avoid Willes Dental and Dr. Willes like the plague. read more

I have been seen Dr. Willies for over 10 years. Dr. Willies is nice and professional. The front desk Glenda is awful. She is the most unfriendly and unprofessional front desk person I ever dealt with. She gets hostile and very defensive when you ask her about the bill or insurance claims. She does a minimum of work on billings and insurance claims. I received a surprise bill twice going back a couple of years ago and last year. She is not willing to work for patients. It is too much work for her. I had insurance coverage which paid minimum and she did not send me a bill/statement whole last year. I asked her why she did not notify me of the bill and she told me she has been sending me a bill in the mail and email which is a lie. I had enough of her. I am looking for a different dentist because of her. read more

Just found this amazing practice to help take care of my teeth and gums! Dr Willis and his entire staff are top notch! I felt very comfortable and they took great care to see the current status of my teeth and gums and determine a care plan for me! They replaced a couple fillings and Barbara did a great job cleaning my teeth! I went to this dentist and needed a crown. So got the crown put on. But, a couple months later it still hurt and the receptionist told that can happen sometimes. Then woke up one Friday with severe pain and they aren't open on Fridays. Saw another dentist and after the X-rays, found the crown didn't fit right, bacteria got in and so I needed a root canal! But per the insurance co. I had to go back to Willis to have the replacement crown put on. And it happened again!! The 2nd crown had a space between the tooth and the gums too and another dentist found bad bacteria...the area was black! Needless to say I went ahead and paid for the 3rd crown! No one in their right mind would go back there! And the receptionist told me my insurance company wanted me to go to them for another set of X-rays. But I had already sent a set showing the damage. When I called my insurance company, they said they never requested that?! They are just too unprofessional and not up to par as far as I can tell. Beware!! read more

Dr David Willes and his staff have met my dental needs for several years. Dr. Willes is very honest and does excellent state-of-the-art dental work. He has excellent hygienist that do a thorough job of keeping your smile beautiful and your teeth healthy. I travel from Oceanside in order to be seen by Dr. Willes and staff and he is worth the drive. I could not be happier and feel blessed to have WIlles Dental caring for my teeth. read more

No one likes going to the dentist. I was referred to Dr. Willes by a friend and found him to be honest and compassionate. He addressed all of my fears and concerns. I've been going to Dr. Willes for years, primarily because of the friendliness and warmth of his staff, but also because Dr. Willes himself (like his predecessor Dr. Sprengel) is one of these rare gems: a very competent and professional dentist who is a minimalist, i.e. he never pushes unnecessary procedures or operations on you. You know you're not going to be taken advantage of there. If you have an emergency, even off hours, the whole crew will help you. I know. I just had one. I like this team so much that, even though I moved from Encinitas to Little Italy in downtown San Diego almost three years ago, I can't let go of these bonds and I still trek up there when needed and for checkups.
