I know a thing because I am in the HR department at a major healthcare organization and am connected to the benefits department. After researching a bit, checked the additional procedure on the ADA for scaling to see if it is appropriate for my cleaning, and says Codes D4342 are therapeutic procedures, and are indicated for patients who require scaling and root planing due to bone loss and subsequent loss of attachment. Instrumentation of the exposed root surface to remove deposits is an integral part of this procedure. Later, she mentioned that I could send my information in something she could've just told me from the start. The tone throughout the conversation was very sarcastic and passive-aggressive. When I called back to confirm that my insurance was indeed active. I asked about my potential co-pay, and although I had no issue providing my information, she stated that even with it, she couldn't tell me. She also made a confusing comment about "main" procedures being covered, but when I followed up on that, she changed her wording and broke it down in a way that felt condescending. As someone new to the office, I didn't feel welcomed or respected. I genuinely wanted to schedule here because of the many positive reviews, but my interaction with the front desk left a bad impression. I hope management addresses this, because first impressions matter and this one made me reconsider becoming a patient. As someone who values good service and has a large online platform where I often share my experiences with businesses, I genuinely hope the office takes this feedback seriously.
