The bottom line: The owner is slow (mentally and work-wise), doesn't seem to have a high degree of integrity, makes promises he doesn't keep, and treats customers like a nuisance. I am building a large garage that requires a big concrete foundation with retaining walls. JAT came out to inspect it and give me a bid. A few other companies also came out to bid the project. Joe/JAT gave a fair price, so I chose him and contacted him a few days after he was here to let him know I wanted his company to do the job. Joe then said that he "didn't really look at the property carefully, so you can't hold me to that price". He didn't even seem to remember looking at the property at all. I chalked this up to him being a little slow (he's not the sharpest tool in the shed), but suggested he come out again and do whatever he needed to in order to give me a bid in a contract we could sign. Joe said he would come out again the following week. Then the real problems started: I called Joe four times in two days, leaving messages for him to call me back. He never did. Five more calls over the next week and no response. I did finally get a call back, over a week (and nearly a dozen calls) later, I did hear back. I then told Joe that because the construction work required for the garage couldn't start until the foundation was done, I wanted a completion date set in the contract -- I didn't want an experience (which I've had with many contractors in Tucson) in which someone tells me a job will be done in two weeks and -- 10 weeks later -- they're still working on it a few hours a day, juggling my project with a bunch of others they're working on at the same time. He also said "we do a lot of jobs for the government, so we're obviously trustworthy". Well, if he's doing project work for the government and he's six weeks behind schedule, he risks losing that type of work. But if he's six weeks past schedule working for me, it's no big deal for him since I'm not a recurring customer. In any case, I had already stopped looking at other contractors, so I was stuck with JAT. I didn't feel comfortable not having a set ending date with a person that couldn't even bother calling a customer back, but I took a leap of faith and went with him. Joe said he would mail the final contract to me and schedule a time to come over again. Well, then it was back to the Twilight Zone: no word from Joe for a long time, lots of phone calls and voice mail messages left for him, lots of waiting with no contact from the company... I finally gave up. I am going with a different company (if you want the contact info, send me a message). Don't bother with JAT unless you like being neglected or treated like a nuisance, dealing with a dim-witted owner, and working with people that do anything possible to wiggle out of deadlines and commitments.

I have been so pleased with the work that he has done for me and my company that I contacted him to built a 4,500 sq. foot custom home which will be completed within the next two weeks. The workers piled up the old roof material over the garage area to shovel it off. The weight of that crushed the supports in the garage and garage door below. To their credit, they sent specialists to replace and repair all damage right away. It's unclear now if that includes A primer and paint on the new planks. The interior is blue. So far, thank you.

He looked things over and gave me an affordable solid estimate. Also told me that he could get guys working on it within a week. I thanked him and let him know I had other companies bidding. I had four more companies come over, look things over and bid. We made the decision to go with A Mountain Roofing Thursday night. By Friday morning Jorge was confirming that he could have the roof started by Wednesday of the following week (5 days away) but before I sent him the signed contact my wife had a list of like seven questions/concerns she wanted answered. Jorge answered them promptly and with the answers she was agreeable to. Signed contract was sent over. Two and a half days. That is all it took. Stripped down, new synthetic underlay, new 30 year name brand shingles and all debris cleaned up and hauled away. I will recommend them to anyone who asks.

These people did a roofing inspection on my house during a home sale. They gave a quote of…read more$1000.00 for cleaning the tree debris, remove and replace up to 15 flat tiles and 2 ridge tiles, replace some mortar cement to end caps and reset some slipped tiles and haul away all of the roof debris. Even this work needed to be done this is only like an hour or hour and half of work, worth about only $400.00 Well guess what I have learned not to trust anyone and to ask a lot of questions years ago. These people were scamming me! I reached out and requested additional quotes. Always get multiply quotes don't trust anyone. I received another quote for another company and the inspector came down from my roof and said you are all good. What? I said. He said yeah your roof is in great shape for the age of your home. They refused even though they claim to do small jobs. Instead, they sent me on a wild goose chase: suggesting two different auto body shops about 10 miles away'. Those two shops said ''they didn't do welding and said 'try two different auto repair shops back another five miles. Those shops said 'your best bet was the UHaul Center in Tucson'. Bottom line....I borrowed an angle grinder and paid $18 for a diamond cutting blade for steel and did it myself, instead going to one of the three competent welding shops in Sierra Vista or the one near downtown Tucson. Also had a friend who had some work done and they couldn't get it right after two tries.

Another contractor made two appointments and failed to show both times. A third contractor came to our house on time, but then said he only does whole kitchens, not modifications. He was clearly fishing for work because I'd already told him it was a modification only. I then looked at the Better Business Bureau and found Anything Wood. It was highly rated so I called. Wayne from Anything Wood arrived on time the first time and presented us with an estimate in fairly short order.
