I was told that insurance would be verified and that they would submit everything for a coverage estimate prior to treatment. After my exam and X-rays, I was informed that I had periodontal disease and would need scaling and root planing. I was also told I had approximately nine cavities and was strongly encouraged to proceed with laser treatment that was not covered by insurance. At no point did I feel I was given clear, conservative options or a breakdown of urgency versus elective procedures. The initial visit resulted in a $200 charge, and I was quoted approximately $800 for the recommended deep cleaning. Because the diagnosis felt significant, I sought a second opinion as I've never had periodontal issues and receive regular cleanings (I worked in the dental industry for years). At another dental office, I was told that I do not have periodontal disease and do not need scaling and root planning cleanings. Their review of my X-rays showed no signs supporting that diagnosis, aside from two isolated pockets near areas where my wisdom teeth had previously been extracted. Then was informed I have two areas on my molars that needed very small fillings on the occlusal areas. They were shocked my Mason Dentals treatment plan! Based on this second opinion, I'm concerned about the difference in diagnoses and the treatment plan I was given. I would recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding with Mason Dental.

Fast forward to Saturday (because of course it's always the weekend), I bit into something and heard that crunch. You know the one, the kind that immediately tells you something important is now in pieces. Sure enough, one of my temp crowns had broken. Pain kicked in, panic followed, and dread set in as I realized: it's the weekend, and my teeth are exposed. I called my dentist's office, fully expecting to leave a desperate voicemail that would go unheard until Monday. But then, cue the choir of angels, I heard it: "If this is an emergency, please call our 24-hour number." You better believe I jotted that down faster than I've ever written anything in my life. Within minutes, I was communicating with the wonderful Jen, who was calm, professional, and had the kind of "we got you" energy you want in a dental emergency. She passed my info to the dental techs, and before I could even finish saying "thank you," I was told to head to the office... on a freaking Saturday! I pulled into the empty parking lot like I was in a spy movie and saw another car pull in right behind me. It was Ana, the absolute legend of a dental tech who had come in just for me. She let me in, set everything up, and within minutes I was in the chair in a pristine, freshly prepped room that smelled like victory... and disinfectant. Ana was not only skilled but kind, funny, and reassuring. She explained every step, made sure I was pain-free, and treated me with the kind of care and attention that you'd hope for even on the busiest weekday, except this was her day off, which made it all the more incredible. In 30 minutes, I walked out with a brand-new temporary crown, pain-free and genuinely smiling (not just because I got my bite back, but because I felt so taken care of). Break to smile - less than two hours! This office is a unicorn in the world of dentistry... professional, responsive, compassionate, and just the right amount of cool. I had an emergency visit for my first visit from an old silver crown spot and fractured tooth. Kylie did an awesome job cleaning my teeth and then Dr Perry explained work I needed. The following week I went in and I swear it was the best experience for what I was having done. Samantha was assisting Dr Perry and she even got me an ice pack for my jaw when I said it was hurting some. Super impressed with the whole staff. Very friendly and understanding.

I found Dr. Hines by random when we moved here and have been bringing my whole family to his practice for over a year. I feel like we got really lucky to find Dr. Hines. He's trustworthy, doesn't recommend unnecessary work and has a friendly staff. I also know that he's thorough because he discovered that my son (who was 17 at the time) had a random extra tooth growing in under the gums, which none of his previous dentists ever noticed on X-ray. Nothing will ever make going to the dentist "fun" but Dr. Hines is friendly and professional.
