Fantastic facility. Can get really cold during the night games. Fun positive atmosphere so long as all of us parents can keep our cool.

I drove to the Santa Clarita Sports Complex almost every weekday and many weekends for 4 years when…read moremy son joined the West Ranch Swim team. While he practiced or competed, I would walk the area to pass time. I had not been back for a good while. Today was a perfectly cool and partial cloudy day. The husband and I decided to pack up our lunch to have it outdoors. We read about some of the improvements that have been made at the SC Sports Complex, so we thought it would be nice to have our lunch there and explore. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived, which was such a stark change from when I used to drive here with my son. Parking was very easy. The park is clean and very well maintained. The familiar spots are unchanged --- Dog Park, Aquatic Center and Gymnasium. The new/updated sections were thoughtfully constructed and designed -- Bike Park, Basketball Courts and shaded picnic areas. We noticed a volleyball court by the dog park which we don't remember seeing before, but it also didn't look new. We were super excited to see that The Rink is being built. We'll definitely be back to see that when it's done. There aren't any clear walking paths -- we just kept wandering around to explore, sometimes having to backtrack to get to another area. It was an enjoyable time nonetheless, especially when it came time to have our lunch while admiring the lovely views of SCV.

In terms of quality, several amazing teachers have left as well. The community, tennis, and overall environment have been a positive force in my life. That said, I'm starting to question whether the $280 monthly cost is worth it anymore, especially given the instability in management. It's frustrating that the club hasn't been able to keep a general manager for more than a year. Just when members get used to strong leadership, it changes again. Frank, in particular, was an incredible GM--he brought kids back to the weekend pool, created accountability, and really elevated the club's culture. I thought the GM before him did a good job too, but Frank stood out as someone who connected with members and drove positive changes. For now, I will stay because of how much the club adds to my daily life, but I'll be keeping an eye out to see whether the management can stabilize and truly live up to the club's potential.

I could not be happier with LAVA-North. We have been involved with club volleyball for a few years…read moreand just switched to LAVA this year. Here is why I'm so happy: 1) Coaching is amazing and there seems to be a true focus on improving each player 2) Conditioning twice a week with licensed sports trainers is included at the gym the girls practice (I had to pay for that before) 3) All of the specialized clinics and camps throughout Southern California are free to LAVA club players 4) Smaller teams so each girl sees more playing time at tournaments and in turn, gets a chance to develop 5) The practices are designed to develop ALL skills for ALL girls. My daughter is getting to practice at several different positions which is awesome because we won't know how tall she is going to be until later 6) Private lessons with coaches are discouraged. If the coach thinks she needs extra work, he works with them one on one but doesn't charge- so awesome! 7) The LAVA organization has provided us with excellent communication and is extremely organized. 8) And most important, my daughter is having so much fun all while learning SO much. Her coach has high expectations and is so good about really working with each girl to correct bad habits early on. Overall, this has been a wonderful experience for our family.

After a couple of heart attacks in 2024, I went through the Cardiac Rehab program at Henry Mayo…read moreNewhall Hospital. Once I completed that, I wanted to maintain my cardio program, and joined the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center. I really like this place, for several reasons. I can actually get free memberships at several local gyms through my insurance, but I'd rather pay to go here. It's a more mature crowd, with most people either doing some sort of rehab or physical fitness. It's not a social club or hang out, everyone is serious about what they're doing. I don't have much experience in gyms, but from what I see, they have plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, crossfits, arm ergos, upright and reclining bikes) as well as weight stations with both plate weights and resistance. There are free weights as well and all kinds of support stuff like mats, stretch bands, etc. The place is spotless, with constant cleaning going on, and everyone seems to take the time to wipe their stations down after use. I don't use these areas, but they have beautiful locker rooms, showers, basketball courts and a pool that is half indoor/half outdoor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and available for personal training if you desire. They have tons of classes from spin to balance. Downstairs, there is an advanced weight training room. I go three times a week and always look forward to it. I highly recommend you check them out.

I have been attending the pool for aqua therapy for quite sometime, which I know is paid for at a hefty price by my insurance company. I walked in and grabbed a towel. If this is the case, it definitely could have been more graciously handled!

They're knowledgeable, keep things safe, and still push you to get the most out of the workout. Jessica is super kind, encouraging, and actually remembers people, which you don't see everywhere. She creates a really comfortable, welcoming environment and explains things in a way that makes you feel confident. Robert's classes are always waitlisted and it makes sense. He challenges you without overdoing it and keeps workouts creative, especially with the reformer. Sarah is great too, very positive energy, especially in the mornings. I just wish I could take more of her classes. Walter is also really knowledgeable and just very solid overall. Shoutout to the front desk and management team. Gail, the general manager, is amazing and has been so supportive of my fitness journey. She really makes people feel seen and comfortable. Roberto, the assistant manager, always checks in and remembers details, which makes the gym feel more personal. Dustin is also super helpful anytime I've needed anything. Mark, who I did a trial personal training session with, was really nice and encouraging and made it a great first experience. The smoothie spot inside is also really good, which is a nice bonus. Overall, it's just a really solid gym with people who care. Makes it easy to keep showing up.

The TZ will not teach your son proper pitching mechanics so if you're looking for a pitching coach…read moreyou need to go elsewhere. All of their teachings are focused on arm speed exercises. At the end of every session the kids line up and throw max effort, trying to beat their previous personal best MPH throw. The kids love this for obvious reasons. The problem however is they're throwing max effort with their arms and most aren't engaging their lower half/legs correctly. They don't take the time to teach proper lower half mechanics. They don't take the time to teach much about mechanics at all because their lessons are group lessons. They just don't have the time to teach mechanics to a large group of kids. Mechanics should be taught in a small setting or preferably, a one on one setting. When you contact TZ for the first time you will be pushed to do group "lessons." The owner prefers this because this is where he makes his money. They're much more concerned with velocity than they are teaching mechanics. Proper mechanics leads to control, which leads to command which also leads to velo. When young pitchers are more concerned with radar readings than they are mechanics, that can be dangerous. If you're looking for a pitching coach who will teach your son how to engage his entire body to command all his pitches, the TZ is not the place for you.

Hands down the best pitching instructor and training Program in So Cal, period. Arm care and arm…read morehealth is the priority, which leads to a durable arm, leading to arm strength and eventually increased velocity, done safely!
