After experiences with larger fertility clinics where I felt like just a number, this office has been completely different -- here, you are treated like a human being. For the first time in this journey, I actually feel happy instead of stressed. Everything has been so smooth, organized, and seamless, which has made such an emotional process feel manageable and even hopeful. What truly sets this practice apart is that Dr. Zapantis personally performs all procedures himself. He takes the time to answer every question thoroughly and even draws diagrams to ensure you fully understand your treatment plan. He creates individualized plans for each patient and works closely with you and your spouse to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident. He has also been incredibly flexible and accommodating with my husband's work schedule, which has meant so much to us. Because this is a smaller practice, nothing feels cookie-cutter or like a one-size-fits-all approach. Every treatment plan is truly personalized, and you can feel how much thought and care goes into every decision. Everyone here goes above and beyond -- you never have to worry about being left waiting for a phone call or email. Communication is prompt, clear, and reassuring, which makes such a difference during a process that can otherwise feel overwhelming. Priscilla is always quick to respond and so helpful. Joyce is consistently kind and welcoming every time we walk through the door. Sandra patiently answers all of my questions, reassures us, and even gives me a hug when I need it most. Kim and Susan have also been wonderful to work with. The entire team is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly makes you feel like family. Fertility treatment can be an emotional journey, but this office makes you feel heard, supported, and cared for every step of the way. I am so grateful to be under their care and highly recommend them to anyone navigating infertility.

From the first phone call I made to book a consultation I was greeted with a friendly, upbeat,…read morehelpful receptionist. Walking into the office the first time, coming off of a couple of failed ivf cycles with a previous doctor I was nervous and emotional and a little defeated. Dr. Kofinas examined me and discovered that I had many more fibroids than I had known about and a significant amount of endometriosis that I had not known about at all. He seemed confident that this was the reason I wasn't getting pregnant and we quickly scheduled my surgery to correct these issues. I can't explain the emotion and relief I felt to finally feel like there was a reason for my lack of success and not just "unexplained infertility ", the diagnosis that my previous doctor had given me. I had proceeded with multiple egg retrievals and finally a successful embryo transfer a few months ago! Through the entire process the professionalism and kindness and personalized approach to myself and every patient was exceptional. The confidence and trust I had in Dr Kofinas was truly the most comforting thing through such and emotional process. All of the staff always greeted me with a smile and answered any questions in a way that took away any fear that I'd be fixated on. This entire office, and every one I encountered along the way in the manhattan surgical center, are a collection of such special people who are truly in the right profession and I can't express how grateful I am for each and every one of them. I'd be writing this same review even if my experience wasn't successful. Dr. Kofinas was extremely thorough and just an amazing doctor and person. Angels on earth! -Nancy Pollock

The surgery office by Wall Street also really makes you feel safe and comfortable, and the surgery staff and anesthesiologists are wonderful. My husband and I struggled with poor genetic quality with the embryos we produced, and Dr. Kofinas recommended trying PRP in my ovaries. Shortly after we became pregnant with a healthy baby girl, who was born recently. I couldn't recommend the Kofinas fertility team more.

Dr. B took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process and always made us feel comfortable and confident in our treatment plan. The nurses and front desk staff were equally amazing- responsive, kind, and personable. I had a really frustrating experience with Kofinas Fertility Group and feel like I should share it…read morefor anyone trying to make an informed decision. I was told upfront that they were in-network with my UHC Empire Plan. Based on that, I moved forward with testing. After claims were processed, I found out that while office visits were partially covered, imaging done in the same office by the doctor was billed out-of-network and denied. That was never clearly explained to me beforehand. For context, I've been to two IVF clinics while living in Florida and used the same NYC insurance. Both of those clinics gave me a full breakdown before I even met the doctor -- what insurance would cover, what might not be covered, and realistic out-of-pocket estimates. That level of transparency made a huge difference. I didn't get anything close to that here. A good example of the communication issues: the cost of my husband's sperm analysis was never brought up proactively. I only learned about it because I specifically asked during the appointment scheduling call. If I hadn't asked, it would have come as a surprise at the appointment. I also know my insurance would have covered that service if the clinic were truly in-network. This is just one example of how things are handled. When I started asking questions, I got vague answers. I was told they would "eat the cost" of denied claims, but nothing was put in writing. At the same time, I was told I'd still be responsible for larger procedures and testing. When I asked for clear pricing, I was told costs depend on what insurance pays, which made it difficult to understand what I'd actually be responsible for. The financial responsibility meeting was also uncomfortable. Asking basic questions seemed to annoy the person I was speaking with. When I spoke to a supervisor, the tone felt dismissive and there was no acknowledgment that I had been told they were in-network in the first place. Also, none of the phone calls are recorded, so there's no way to go back and verify what was said. I do want to say the nursing staff at the Staten Island office are absolutely wonderful. They were kind, patient, and supportive every time I interacted with them -- truly the best part of my experience. Dr. Peter has a calm bedside manner, but I personally found it hard to fully trust the guidance when there didn't feel like there was alignment between what was being emphasized to me and the overall approach. For me, that consistency matters when I'm making important health and financial decisions. Fertility treatment is already stressful enough. The last thing patients need is confusion around insurance and billing. Clear, upfront information should be standard before starting any testing. If you're considering this clinic, I would strongly recommend: getting everything in writing regarding what is actually in-network asking for a full itemized cost breakdown upfront confirming how imaging, labs, and procedures are billed I wish I had done that before starting here.

This is an excerpt from an email that was sent over two weeks ago, and has yet to be given a…read moreresponse by Patti or any of the office staff with access to the email login: I had a massage yesterday and would like to give some feedback. It was my first prenatal massage (38 weeks today), and I was trying to do something for myself to help me relax and prepare for birth physically and mentally. Instead what I got was a nightmare. I am now bruised, and feeling like the massage therapist may have done damage to the baby. The massage therapist was 15 minutes late to our appointment (I should have just left then, but gave her grace and stayed). The cleaning woman let me into the office. When Ariadne walked in, she was in her pajamas, did not introduce herself, and proceeded to set up the room slowly (we did not get started until 10:30, my appointment was supposed to have started at 10a). She never actually did introduce herself, so I'm not entirely positive that the person who was massaging me was Ariadne. Once I got into the room and laid down on the table, she came in and asked how the music was, to which I replied that it was perfect (soothing and relaxing). She said she was going to change it to something better, and ended up picking loud, fast paced classical music- because the music wasn't for me- it was "for the baby." She then proceeded to massage my back, which was fine. When I flipped to face up, she was extremely rough, especially on my abdomen down where the baby's head was, which is now bruised. She pushed so hard trying to "loosen my abs" that I was wincing in pain, and had to pull away from her at multiple points. I do not think this is part of a standard prenatal massage, and feared for the damage she may have done to the baby by pressing so hard as to bruise my skin right above the baby's head (my baby has been rotating between LOA, LOT, ROA, and LOP, so she easily could have been hitting a fontanelle or an eye, especially because there is so little fluid/cushioning next to the head near the pubic bone as its trying to engage). I tried to look her credentials up on the website to see if she was a certified prenatal massage therapist, but her bio is nowhere to be found. Throughout the massage she talked about how this baby was going to teach me a lesson, especially if its being so stubborn in the womb (rotating all over the place at 38 weeks)- to which I replied, I don't think this baby is doing anything but trying to find the best way out. But she continued to talk about how babies that give their parents easy pregnancies are horrible kids, difficult to deal with, etc. After 7 miscarriages and a miracle to get to being this far pregnant I really felt insulted by her view of children, and her trying to impose these harmful views on an expecting mother who is mere weeks away from giving birth to her miracle/rainbow baby. While she had me facing up she completely disregarded proper draping techniques which made me super uncomfortable, and decided to "stretch" my legs/hips, to the point that my knees were nearly touching my ears, which was extremely uncomfortable not only physically, but because of how exposed I was. Overall, I am so incredibly disappointed in this experience, and can't believe that I was charged $140 for an hour and a half of torture, pain, and humiliation. I will never come back to the office for another massage. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with severe anxiety because of this massage, and am praying that this child comes out in the next few weeks unharmed. I hope this case was isolated and she was just having a bad day, but the impact was so intense that I am now hesitant to schedule body work with any other practitioner for fear that this will happen to me again.

We felt very comfortable with him and his entire staff and never had a bad experience. He and his staff truly care! Tonight, 9:00PM (outside of business hours) I was at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription I needed to begin tonight and had a ton of issues with them not filling it / issue w the prescription etc etc. I emailed him on the spot, he literally called and resolved it for me and I left with my prescription. What doctor does that?! He is incredible. I am so appreciative of him!

Please think twice before going to Island Reproductive Services…read more I'm sharing my experience in hopes of saving someone else from the frustration, emotional toll, and wasted time I went through. I initially went to Dr. Knockenhauer to investigate why I had experienced two miscarriages after having my first child naturally, without complications. At our first consultation, he laid out a clear 10-step plan -- starting with bloodwork and ending with IVF as a last resort. It sounded thorough and gave me hope. However, after just steps 1, 2, and 3 (including an HSG), he saw that I had GHI insurance -- and suddenly, he jumped straight to IVF. Despite not yet identifying the cause of my miscarriages, he assured me that IVF would reduce my chances of miscarriage by 10%. I trusted his recommendation, assuming he had my best interests in mind. I underwent two egg retrievals and an ultimately failed IVF transfer. Only after that failure did he test me for endometritis -- something that was step 4 on his original plan. The condition turned out to be the likely cause of both my miscarriages and the failed IVF transfer. I had already endured six months of invasive procedures, emotional distress, and unnecessary treatments that could have been avoided if he had simply followed the protocol he originally outlined. It felt like once my insurance was revealed, the priority shifted from proper diagnosis to profitability. Additionally, the office is run like a factory. Multiple patients are booked for the same time slots, so you're often waiting over an hour. The nurses rush through instructions for IVF medications so quickly that there's no time to ask questions or get clarity -- and considering how complex and sensitive these medications are, that's unacceptable. In the end, I switched clinics and got pregnant naturally with the help of a doctor who actually listened and cared. I was even told I never needed IVF in the first place. This was one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. I strongly encourage others to seek care elsewhere -- from a provider who is committed to truly understanding your case and not just jumping to expensive procedures.
