It wasn't until after the first two sessions together I discovered Patricia charged me for every minute we spoke in person - I also was unaware that my insurance could not cover our time together. I was also under the impression, from paperwork I had filled out, that the first session would be definitely free and/or paid by insurance. When she found out about this, and that I did not know otherwise, she showed no sympathy - in fact, she almost seemed angry. I would have appreciated more warning and compassion about this. Had I know all this in advance, everything would have been different. I have an incredibly tight budget and little/no income. I came to learn about biofeedback as a new strategy for dealing with ADD, because ADD presents a serious challenge for me in my life. The biofeedback method is intriguing and I was glad to learn about it at the Institute with Patricia. At first Patricia was very congenial over the phone, which attracted me to this business. I told her I had other methods of dealing with anxiety and ADD besides pill or biofeedback, such as yoga, meditation, breathing techniques, diet, etc. She rejected these all as useless. Ironically, my experience with this woman sounds EXACTLY like the same as the other review done previous to mine. I was shocked while reading it at how similar my experience was. This is extremely unfortunate because if I only would have known this beforehand, I would have never wasted my time going. I would NOT RECOMMEND her to anyone! Period. Plain and simple. I have been a professional nurse for 24 years and no time in my career have I treated any of my patients like she did me. I would have been fired. She was very sarcastic in general, unclear as to any treatment plan she has in store for you, if any, and seems to hide a lot of what she plans to do. I, like the other patient, was under the impression the first meeting was going to be free of charge. This was the impression from the initial phone conversation. Patricia was extremely personable on the phone, indicating her methods she uses in her office were proven to help "retrain your brain." My partner made the initial call asking her multiple details on the phone the fees involved. This is where the impression the initial consultation was free of charge. My partner was told by Patricia sessions were $125 per session. According to my partner, she was extremely pleasant to talk to and acted like she was very eager and work with me stating she was confident she could help with her methods she used. Once I was in her office it was a whole different story. At no time at the appointment were we told a charge for this meeting...until the end of it... when I actually 'pumped' her for fees, at which I found out she intended to bill Medicare for that evening. I was not happy. When asked what she would bill, her response was "I can bill any amount, but its whatever the insurance contract says is what I will get." I asked about payment plans. She said "No...thats what credit cards are for.I am not in the business of financing" Patricia was very sarcastic to both me and my partner who was with me that evening when approached with questions, almost as though she is intimidated by them. I went to see her for information on Biofeedback and all I got from this session was how many credentials she has to do this kind of thing, listened to her bash her competitors multiple times saying they do not know what they are doing and how important it is to go to someone who is highly qualified such as her. At no time did I receive a "service" so to speak, information on what I went to get, such as what exactly Biofeedback is, how it is done, how long it takes, what is done during a session and how it works. This was NEVER done. My partner initially emailed letter to Patricia indicating her disappointment of the meeting. She had no sympathy and actually got a bit agitated and accusatory in her response, indicating she was "perplexed" why we even came to her in the first place. When I read this email, I was quite stunned that a provider would say such a thing to a prospective client. It was at this time, I emailed her back encouraging her NOT to bill medicare, my insurance, as I will dispute the charge as medicare fraud. No kind of compensation in my opinion was warranted. I indicated in my email that her website is totally misleading and invited her to check out to what can happen to misleading the public by listing false information on it. I received no kind of "service" from this woman whatsoever and feel I was literally "baited" into her office. She was so 'warm and fuzzy' on the phone with my partner convincing her that she could help me with my epilepsy and possible A.D.D. diagnosis, but everything changed once I entered her office, an old house, not in a professional office setting, like you would think. That raised a red flag with me. You would think someone would practice in a nice office setting, not an old house with someone living upstairs. In addition,many things on her website proved to be untrue, outright misleading and upfront falsely presented. I looked into verifying her credentials and found the majority to be false. She presents herself on her website to be an appointed staff member at Western Michigan University. I called to verify this with 3 different employees at the university and was told by 3 different staff who work there she was not on their roster as a faculty member. I also verified this on the university's website itself just to be sure. Of the four (4) organizations on her website Patricia claims to be a current member of, her name only came up as a member of one. These are links she has placed herself on her own website claiming to be a member of. After checking into all this and meeting her( which was enough for me), it makes you wonder about other things once finding out that she portrays herself as someone other than who she really is. I would NOT recommend this woman to anyone and I have reported her to be misleading to the public and vulnerable people who sadly could easily be advantage of. L.S. read more
