They used to be very personable - Now the staff and dentists dart in and out of the exam rooms like baggage handlers. The front desk had the nicest folks, who knew your name, knew your family, and would have pleasant banter about your dental situation - now they are as friendly as the clerk at a bus station ticket window. Today I called to make an appointment, the very bland desk worker comes back on the phone and says, "It's been too long since you had your last cleaning...you are now considered a new patient...and we're not accepting new patients". Translation: Take a hike, mister. How about that. When Shuck first opened his doors, my family was there. He had so few patients, that I could call at 9am and be in his chair at 10am. My whole family were onboard AND we referred numerous others. NOW I am a "NEW PATIENT that cannot be accepted now or ever". It's a new year. Me and my family are moving on. Despite needing an extra shot, he was very happy with Dr. Springmann, reporting nothing but care, patience, and professionalism. My journey started in October 2024 and involved multiple dentists, crown replacements, countless adjustments, consultations with specialists, and even a root canal. Throughout that time, I knew something still wasn't right, but I never felt like anyone was truly getting to the bottom of the problem. From my first visit, Dr. Loren Masuoka was different. He listened carefully to my concerns, took my symptoms seriously, and never made me feel like I was imagining things. Instead of dismissing what I was experiencing, he genuinely wanted to understand why I was still having pain and find a solution. During my appointment, he took the time to evaluate my bite and noticed that my crown was taking most of the force when I bit down. He carefully adjusted it and explained what he was seeing. The result has been incredible. For the first time since October 2024, I can chew on the right side of my mouth without pain. The cold sensitivity is gone, and I no longer spend every meal worrying about that tooth. After nearly two years of frustration, appointments, and uncertainty, I finally feel like myself again. The greatest gift Dr. Masuoka gave me was making me feel heard.
