I've had to call this office twice, two years apart, regarding questions about my parents estate planning documents created by Mr. Williamson who I'm sure did a great job with their estate planning. My review is on the office staff. The two women I've spoken to. I have left the call in tears TWICE from their rudeness lack of empathy and professionalism. Who spends 12 minutes trying to dissuade someone from coming in and paying for an actual appointment. "Oh well you'll have to wait four weeks". Ok. "And you'll need to send a letter of incapacitation for your father". Ok when can I book that appointment. "Oh and we don't handle..." SERIOUSLY!??? How about you just let me make an appointment and talk to an actual attorney instead of front desk staff that's incompetently giving legal advice over the phone with NO facts nor documents. DO NOT DEAL with this office if you are a trustee. Go elsewhere to a different trust planning attorney who will actual be helpful and may even offer condolences for the loss of a parent (bc that's when trustees are calling law offices). I went to Attorney Richard Williamson for advice on how to set up a living trust for my family. During the consultation, Attorney Williamson questioned one of my decisions as to how I wanted to leave my shares. Mr. Williamson suggested that our primary property should vest as Community Property with Right of Survivorship. Which means that if one spouse passes away the property will go to the surviving spouse. Meaning if the surviving spouse re-marries, 50% will go to the new spouse. Leaving our children with what? This would be fine if we do not have children. As a mother to an 11 and 13 years old, I requested that in the event if one spouse dies and if all the parties agree to sell, 50 % will go to our 2 children, 50% will go to the surviving spouse. Mr. Williamson opposed to follow my wishes causing a conflict between my spouse and I. He did apologize, however, I think the harm was done. I left his office in tears and was rushed away due to his next appointment. Did not received a phone call from him nor his office. I went to him to see that my wishes and concerns are carried out when I die, not to question my Integrity with my spouse. "When a child loses their mother/father, they can not find another. They must find shelter and strive on their own. When an adults loses her/his partner they can find another and continue to build their dream." We work to secure our children's future. read more

It has been a very disappointing experience working with this firm. At the first meeting, after reviewing my very straightforward case, the attorney estimated it would take 1 year to settle my father's estate. Unfortunately, it has taken well over 2 years now...every step of the way with me following up with her on the progress made and next steps in my case. The attorney and her staff actually refused to make an appointment to meet and discuss my case in person with the attorney after I signed on with her...Most of the legal papers I had to sign in person were handed to me by a receptionist, which I had to sign while standing in the waiting area. My lawyer was not present to explain anything to me. It is worth noting there were no resistance for the attorney to meet me in person for that one last time, in order to accept monetary payment from me. I was invited to sit down in the office for that meeting. The unprofessionalism includes using gmail accounts to do business. Not sure how secure to do business using Gmail. Definitely seems like low budget firm and doesn't care about protecting customer's privacy or information. It was also unexpected that the office staff gave incorrect information. For example, asking me to file a form at the Assessor's office when I didn't need to. The fact they introduced an error in the property description of the grant deed during property title transfer caused a lot of unnecessary work, anxiety, and grief. By the way, I (the lay person and customer) caught the error. This error brings me little confidence in their legal capabilities and ability to take responsibility to admit their own error, and resolve issues. When I brought this error to her attention, she was unresponsive. After repeated follow ups, she reluctantly directed her staff person to file some papers to fix the problem. This error and unprofessionalism that I have experienced, along with a lot of uncessary extra work for me, City, and Assessor's office have all been disappointing. At the end, due to their error, I received another Assessors' request for information, which they again refused to resolve to full conclusion. Overall, a very poor experience for me. read more

My husband and I went to Williamson and Gentilini through work Hyatt Legal plan, but I had been looking for a Estate Planning attorney even before I signed up for Hyatt, and interviewed many different firms. We had a special situation with a 2nd property outside "mainland USA" that required some level of understanding and flexibility how to best handle in the Trust and Will documents. Mr. Williamson and his staff were very welcoming from the beginning. His office is welcoming, different from those high corporate environments, yet also well staffed, particularly mainly most are family members related in one way or another. This is important because you get a sense of "family owned" business that works well, also offering the added piece of mind of continuity not only for your ongoing consulting of legal estate planning affairs, but to know they will be there for your loved ones should you no longer be around. They are also prompt to respond to your calls or emails on any follow up questions. I had done a lot of research and reading on Estate Planning packages prior to seeing Mr Richardson in person for a complimentary interview, hence felt very well prepared, nonetheless these matters are complex and decisions you need to make can be heart wrenching. Mr Williamson has the patience to explain things in simple ways and making you feel at ease. At the end you walk out with a very professionally put together Binder holding all of the various Estate Planning documents divided by sections -- quite a sense of relief once we got it all together. One additional small detail about Mr Williamson; beautiful sets of handcrafted pens are on display on his desk and he uses them to sign and have you sign all documents; I couldn't resist to ask about them, and he shared that he makes them- a hobby of his in his spare time.
