Been driving past here and finally stopped by with some out of town friends. Your hole in the wall local bar that has a nice size courtyard with stage for live bands...plenty of seating that includes picnic tables to bonfire seating. You have all your yard games such as bags and washers and giant Jenga. Came on a Monday afternoon when they opened and Melissa was great to us recommending drinks. Not a whole lot of options for local crafts or IPAs but they have your main liquors. They have events going on each evening so this is a great place to stop in for drinks if it's isn't busy like on bike night. read more

Today is my birthday and we decided to check this place out because I had been told by a few people that the burgers were fantastic. I figured I would give it a shot. We decided to call our order in and get it picked up. The only good thing about the burgers were the buns were homemade. The burgers were bland. If I am going to pay over $12 for a 1/2 pound burger, I expect the quality to be a tad bit better and would like to see some grill marks, instead of being cooked on a flat top. The burger was seasoned with just salt and pepper. In some instances, that is all your need. Burgers come with chips. If you want fries or tater tots, that an up charge. If I wanted to be nickel and dime to death, I would have opted for a better burger joint. We did order fried pickles, which were ok. This place does have a nice outdoor area where you can gather with friends and have a beer. If you are considering a burger, skip it. There are plenty of burger places with better burgers that will not cost you an arm and a leg. read more

Went on a Tuesday afternoon for a happy hour beer with a friend. After quickly getting greeted with a "Be with you soon" from the waitress, we waited 15 minutes to get service. Wait staff - including the waitress who said she'd be with us soon - hung out to smoke and talk with themselves. Waitress finally made her way over to us only to notify us that the draft lines were broken and that only cans were available. Ordered two Ziegenbocks (because the selection was next to none) and an order of fries. Drank the beer, hung out for an hour, never got the fries or a return visit from any wait staff. This is a great location in downtown Butor that is kid friendly and has a decent food truck on site where you can get good Cajun seafood. If you've ever been to a HandleBar or Kung Fu on a Sunday then you may have tasted this fine bbq for free! I first discovered the amazingness that is now known as Willie's Joint at HandleBar one Sunday Funday. Greg would pile up a combo of his delicious mac 'n cheese and chopped brisket topped off with his intoxicating bbq sauce. It's a salivating combination. I'm so excited that now there is a brick and mortar restaurant to experience this every day. The back yard is gigantic and will be great once the summer heat dies down. They have lawn games and lots of chairs and tables to relax and enjoy a nice night out. The inside is a lot smaller but we live in Texas after all so the outdoors is where it's at. I do agree with other reviews that they probably should get rid of the piano and oversized tables and chairs to fit more moderate seating. To place your order, you go inside and head straight to the bar where one of the bartenders will take your food order and drink order if you're feeling up to one of their unique cocktails. The food menu is limited but what they make is done well. My favorites are the mac n' cheese, green beans and the chopped beef - with the light bbq sauce. The prices may be a little high for Buda but the quality is definitely there. I will definitely be back and look forward to seeing how this place grows. read more

Not much to look at, but you can tell it's a fun joint to hang out at night. We came here after Buda's trail of lights for Christmas, and it was a bit chilly, but there were a few outdoor heaters to warm you. We ordered the brisket plate with Cole slaw and tots, and I got the pulled pork plate with the jalapeno Mac n Cheese and waffle fries with queso (but they were out of the queso (at only 7:00!?!)) My husband's meat was delicious!! Mine was chewy and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 5 hours. The sides were fine. If we go again, it will be for the chicken Sh*! My oh my!! Where to begin. It's a beautiful day and this was the best possible place we could pick to come have lunch on our way back from Austin. It's a complete dive but it's a great dive. The outdoor area has water mists blazing to keep you cool and plenty of shade as well. They have beer and mimosa specials on Sundays. The bbq is good. Not bad on the price. The employees are great and will get you anything you need. My mind was blown when I asked about crawfish and they took me to this spot in the back bar area and showed me where it was and told me to get all I wanted... I was standing there like an idiot, thinking ok, this is the time where you tell me how much it is. But he just walked away and said enjoy! So I got free crawfish. And it was the best I've ever had because I have been dying for crawfish all season and just have never had the chance to go and get any. Then all of a sudden I'm blessed with the free stuff. Lol. Heard that WC Clark was playing for free so decided to give it a shot. We went on a Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised that Educators got a free entree with a drink purchase! We both got the 2 meat BBQ Plate with Brisket and Sausage, and we got four different sides, potato salad, beans, Mac & cheese and waffle fries. The brisket is fatty, but I like it that way, so I loved it. The sausage is nicely spicy. The potato salad is German style (mustard), and was unremarkable as were the beans. The Mac and cheese was great but it was lukewarm. Waffle fries were fine.... They had outdoor fires, people playing cornhole, combined with a cold beer, and WC Clark singing the blues, made for a good time. Prices are average. One con is that it's right on the main road in Buda, with cars going by, it wasn't as relaxing as it could be, but what cha gonna do. Will be back... read more

What a GREAT place, who knew it was smack in the middle of Buda Texas. What I love about this place is the divey feel. There is an outdoor seating area with fire pits and a cool atmosphere. It has a FULLY stocked bar and very friendly waitstaff. Ask for Lexi, she's from Abilene Texas and knows all the best jokes about that flat land. Lexi made sure to tell us all about the dinner specials and special events that take place at Willie's joint all year long. This was my first time to ever hit this place up. I am a huge fan of chill, outdoor, everyone knows your name kinda bars so this was right up my alley. If you are looking for a classy joint, don't go here. The outside area is very large with lots of seating. They had lots of mist fans to keep the area cool. I would however request that the fans turn. They were stationary, so you either say at a table and got soaked or sat at a table and got no fan at all. The outdoor table tops were also pretty dirty and looked like they had never been wiped down. The bartenders were all great! They new several of the locals by name and treated us no different. Enjoyed this joint. Big screen tv outside is an excellent feature. It's covered and easy to see which is rare. Covered areas along with misters to help cool. Beer is cold and many places to get one. I'd recommend the food trucks over the typical bar food. Regular food is basic and I'd guess mostly frozen and cooked up. It's pretty good though considering. I wanted to really love this place. The outdoor area is great for entertainment. They have fun games like ping pong and picnic tables to enjoy good conversation & BBQ. I do like the small menu, but the food itself didn't really standout. The brisket had too much extra fat on it and the portions are a little on the small side. The indoor seating is very oversized for the space. The memorabilia is pretty cool and it's decorated with several of Willies signed guitars. The parking can get tight as well. It's in a great location off Main St. in Buda. Since it opened not that long ago maybe it's going through growing pains. It definitely has potential, just need better planning. I witnessed the waitress that was working the evening shift around 5:30ish. She was very rude to a customer ordering a drink in front of other customers waiting to order drinks. Telling this customer to look her in the face and talk to her directly to order the drink making rude faces. It's a cool venue. I like the setup with the outdoor fire pits and games. Fun venue to get together and hang out with friends and family. The trouble is the ordering system is absolutely horrid. To order a drink or food, you have to go inside to the bar (there are outdoor bars but I have yet to be there a time those were open). The bar is packed when people at the bar and the rest of us trying to order. They just make it so difficult to give them money. I wanted to just bring a beer from my car as it would have been a ton faster. The staff is on it though as we saw them crack down on a person trying to sneak in a cooler. A local staple in Buda, but sadly I was not a fan. I came with a large group and it took almost an hour for some of us to get food, whereas others' came quickly. We walked into the bar and ordered food at the counter. Even that process took a while. I ordered a brisket grilled cheese, which came on time (unlike my friends' grilled cheese!) but was almost charred black on the side. It was pretty basic, with cheeze slices and standard, greasy brisket. Coca Cola refills aren't free btw, be warned. The outside was very large and cute, good for a group. They have games, live music on stage, and plenty of misters and spritzers for the hot summer nights. Ample parking and a good location.
