When I first met her months ago, I was going through a terribly time - experiencing the worst migraines, which started from one day to another (I've had a few super light headaches before, but nothing compared to that!). Can I give Dr. Courtney and W+EW 10 stars?! I went into my initial appointment a bit anxious, as I had never had acupuncture before, but Dr. Courtney was warm and welcoming. She answered absolutely every last one of my silly questions, and asked about my physical body as well as my mental space that day. I had a cupping session, as well as "stim" (electric stimulation), and acupuncture primarily in my shoulders, since that's where I carry a lot of tension. Y'all. I almost fell asleep on the table. Dr. Courtney walked me through exactly what she was doing, while she was doing it, asked for consent through the whole treatment process. I practically had to be poured out of that treatment room because the feeling of calm was that great. If I hadn't been there through the whole thing, I would have sworn she gave me a whole new set of shoulders...my tension was GONE. I will never *not* go here, both for self care, and for physical wellness. Dr. C was a beacon of light in the pandemic, while I was experiencing some pretty chronic pain stuff and was able to help me with SO MANY health and wellness things, and continues to do so. I have been seeing Dr. Courtney for nearly three years now. There are other locations closer to me to get acupuncture, but I prefer to make the small journey to Willow + Elm Wellness because of the atmosphere and level of care I receive. As a transgender person I am very grateful to have found an accepting and trauma informed location.
