I would give 10 stars, if possible! I thought OrangeTheory would be a good workout (already pretty fit) and of course, day one I do an ab move in class and feel my lower back strain. A few months of going to the chiropractor, while quick relief, the next day the pain would return. During this time, I also started my fertility journey and discovered the benefits of acupuncture! My first visit to Healing Foundations was for an "emergency acupuncture treatment". At that time I was so stressed out, I lost sleep, appetite and overall zest for life. So I looked up n acupuncture place that was close to my work and had decent reviews on Yelp. Oh my, I am so happy Lisa was able to fit me in that day! She began with an interview that included questions typical for both traditional and alternative medicine. Then she took me in for a private acupuncture session, where she kept on checking how my body was reacting to the process. She checked my pulse often and talked to me the whole time to make sure she was hitting the right spots with the needles. A few minutes after she had finished her work, I drifted off and had a most relaxing map I've had in months! But the magic didn't stop there. Since I was 13, I have gone in and out of terrible bouts of insomnia. Every couple of years it gets really out of hand, and my normal bag of tricks stop working. This is when I seek an acupuncturist. I found that acupuncture is the only thing that allows me to manage sleepless nights; not sleeping pills. I have gone to a couple of different clinics over the years because I was interested in trying different methods of acupuncture. Now that I've found Healing Foundations, I no longer feel the need to go any place else. This summer I hit a really low point where I didn't even feel myself because of my insomnia. I was feeling really helpless and basically poured my heart out to Lisa Alvarez. She has a really comforting bed side manner, completely gives you 100% of her attention, and never makes you feel rushed to get out of there. Healing Foundations is different than other acupuncture clinics I've been to because they don't just put the needles in and leave you in a dark room, they rather check in on each needle placed by listening to your heart beat to make sure your body is responding positively. Some of the needles would have a stronger reaction than others, which I couldn't help but ask why I was getting such a strong sensation, and Lisa was happy to answer my questions every time. Not only do I feel much better, I also feel like I've learned more about my personal health and wellness. I have also gone to see Rebecca Christy Gemperle, and was equally as pleased with her methods of treating me. She also has a wonderful disposition, is very easy to talk to, and is extremely patient. Every time I leave healing foundations I feel amazing. Frankly I don't want to leave haha. The atmosphere is so peaceful and serene. Healing. Foundations. Is. Awesome. I've had nothing but positive experiences in reception, during consultations, and (most of all!) while having their amazing treatments themselves. I've experienced everything they offer (massage, cupping, acupuncture, energy work) and been seen by every member of their staff, but Lisa, with her magical knowledge and lovely spirit, has been my consistent refuge from stress for the past five years. I'm there at least monthly, and weekly during especially challenging times. Even writing this review makes me feel emotional- thinking about all of the improvements I've seen both in my body and energy levels since day one. I went in for shoulder pain, anxiety, insomnia, and headaches, and quickly realized that consistent treatments help boost my immunity and recover quickly from common ailments. Can't say enough about this place! My first visit was when they were doing their 2- year anniversary special. I believe they were doing a accupuncture treatment for $8 (it was a while back so I'm not sure exactly, regardless it was an amazing special). At that price there was no excuse to give it a try. I have always been curious about acupuncture but in the back of my head I still had my doubts. I have anxiety and I'm always looking to find ways to combat it, so it's not unusual for me try a something to find it doesn't work. Again though, for that promotional price I had no reason not to. They performed points for relaxation and (this is coming from someone who suffers deeply from anxiety) I can honestly say it was the most relaxing moment I've had in awhile. I actually fell asleep! Asleep in the middle of the day!! Second Visit: went back around Nov/Dec when it seemed everyone, including myself, had the cold/flu bug in them. After 3 days of DayQuil, NyQuil, and repeat with no signs of feeling better enough was enough- I called to make an appointment for the cupping/ acupuncture cold treatment. (They were actually able to help me that same night!). INSTANTLY I felt better. I had color back on my complexion, my nasal pathway were free again (!), and I left with the biggest smile on my face. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have such an amazing introduction to alternative healing. It is a gift I can honestly say I will take with me for the rest of my life. Healing Foundations helped save my life. Seriously. No drama. I was a heavy smoker for 30 years. I tried hypnosis, the patch, Chantix, etc etc etc and nothing worked. I picked a date and made an acupuncture appointment for the same day. I then went 1-2 x per week for the 15 minute nada acupuncture sessions. I did this for a few months and then started to go less frequently. Today I have been smoke free for 15 months! I have skipped over 10,000 cigarettes and feel better than I ever have. They have a super user-friendly online booking system as well. I started going to Healing Foundations back in Dec. 2013 for acupuncture. I had a host of issues I was hoping to address - knee pain, back pain, insomnia, anxiety, headaches, etc. I met with Lisa at first and then Revital. After I experienced so much relief physically, mentally, emotionally, I began scheduling weekly appointments with Revital. Each week I look forward to my appointment with her. She is gifted at acupuncture, energy work, Thai massage, and tui na, but I mostly see her for acupuncture and thai massage. She seems to intuitively know what areas I need work on and after each session I am amazed at the changes I experience. The facility itself is warm and inviting. I have been going to Healing Foundations for only a few weeks but in that time they have really made a concerted effort to fix my issue with my arm. They both have suggestions on stretches and home exercises that I should be doing in between my appointments and they are always trying new things to eliminate the problem. I came in with a long list of complaints - back pain, trouble sleeping, stomach issues, all of which Lisa listened to with great patience - and I left feeling better than I had in months. Seriously. I was in pain every day for the last three months and had tried (almost) everything. But Lisa stuck some needles in me and I literally felt better almost instantly. I can't believe how well it worked but I am now a total believer. Lisa also gave me some great tips about nutrition and handling stress and both seem to be helping a lot. I went back for a follow-up session and happened to have twisted my ankle the day before. Lisa expertly placed some needles in my ear (yep, in my ear) and the pain in my ankle instantly subsided. It's incredible. The space itself is peaceful and totally spotless. Lisa, in addition to being a talented clinician, has a great demeanor, is very open and approachable and makes you feel totally comfortable confessing all your ailments, stresses, etc. Also, there is no hard sell here - they might suggest a bottle of Chinese herbs or homeopathic cream or something, but it's more like a "would you be open to taking herbs?" not a "You have to buy these herbs." Amazing how things happen. I attended a Meet-up event at Healing Foundations back in early April of this year. Lisa and Rebecca were great hostesses - complimentary treatments with other practitioners were offered along with wine and nibbles. Great way to meet and greet one another. By early May I started with severe lower back pain - made one call and Rebecca was able to treat me later that day. Goofy me I sprained my ankle. It was hot swollen and painful! If you've ever sprained your ankle you know what it feels like. I hobbled over to Healing Foundations on crutches. Rebecca saw me and after an hour of therapy which included acupuncture and Gua Sha I could bear weight on my ankle and had significantly reduced pain and swelling. First, about the location. Healing Foundations is a wonderful new facility. The atmosphere is comfortable and calming. It's a great environment for body and soul. Second, about the therapist. I saw Lisa for pain management acupuncture treatment prior to surgery for a torn rotator cuff tendon. Lisa is a great caregiver. She is thoroughly knowledgeable about her craft. Before treatment we discussed my symptoms; she did a great job of focusing our discussion on the specifics. During the treatments she constantly solicited my feedback to gauge progress. She is calm, confident, focused, caring, and patient. Very professional. Finally, most importantly, about the results. Short answer: fantastic. Long answer: the pain mitigation was both instant and to a greater degree than I experienced from OTC painkillers. Further, the range of motion in my shoulder without discomfort went from very limited to nearly unlimited. And both effects lasted days after the treatment. It was the feedback discussions that really made a difference - as the treatment progressed the effects went from good, to better and better, until we reached best. I know it sounds like I'm gushing but this was a remarkable experience. Prior to this I had limited exposure to, and retained some skepticism about the benefits of acupuncture. No more. I can't say enough good things about this place, but more specifically, Rebecca Gemperle. I severly broke my arm (humerus) well over a year ago, leading to a steel plate and 17 screws. The break was so bad I received nerve damage and I lost all functionality in my left wrist and hand (aka dead hand). After 3 months of occupational therapy, I still had no strength in my wrist. So, I decided to give Rebecca and accupuncture a try. Within one week of receiving accupuncture, I was able to move my pinky again. A few days later, my ring finger, then middle finger, and so on. Within 2 weeks, my wrist began to move. To this day I really have no idea how it works, but after every treatment all my pain (and stress) is relieved. Stepping into Healing Foundations was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I actually found out about it on Yelp--(thanks Yelpers!) by typing in "acupuncture" with my zip code. I'd also like to mention I am NOT a fan of needles. I still cry (a little) when I get my blood taken. Lisa took extra time sitting listening to me tell her about all of my issues. She went very slowly and had me breathe during each needle. I felt different after the first treatment, but after just a few more, I was like a new, better version of me. I really can't sum up how much it helped change my life. Nightmares that I had experienced since college suddenly "disappeared" as a side effect, my stress is to a manageable level and I was able to get off of medication I had been taking for quite some time. Where to begin? Simply stated, the team at Healing Foundations is excellent at what they do. Acupuncture, reflexology, energy healing and lots of other ways to relax, revitalize, energize and get you feeling better - plus yoga and classes, too! My visit yesterday was amazing. It was my first visit, and I was greeted warmly at the door. The office is beautiful, spotlessly clean and very relaxing. Nice music in the background, soothing colors, even a cup of hot peppermint tea to start my treatment. I enjoyed introductory acupucture and reflexology session to ease stress and sinus stuffiness. Rebecca explained what she was doing and why before she masterfully went to work. I've had acupuncture before, so I knew what to expect, and I was not disappointed. No pain, no discomfort. And a heated treatment table, too! Healing Foundations has three treatment rooms as well as a great meeting room in the back they use for yoga, community yoga and events. Healing Foundations has helped me tremendously in many ways. I really feel that they care about me when I go in there and I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. Before my most recent appointment, i had been feeling horrible all day and thought I was getting sick; my body ached and I was very tired. I was only there to pick up some herbal supplements and didn't have an actual appointment but they took time out of their day to see how I was doing and even showed me some techniques that I can do myself and spent some time going through them with me. After 20 minutes, not only did I feel a thousand percent better, but I could feel myself almost glowing. Lisa even remarked that I "looked taller" which, after looking in the mirror, I honestly felt that I did.
