I then flew to Houston and toured the place and the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. TJ, the manager (is a gem) has been so nice to work with, extremely helpful and gives me updates on my father (I am in a different state). Every time I talk to my father he tells me that everyone is very helpful and very nice to him! Picking a new home for an elderly parent is such a difficult and overwhelming process, Good Living Community made the decision and transition so much easier. Highly recommend!

I was given the name of Good Living Community Care by a placement company (sorry can't remember who but she was great too!) After 2 full months here at GLCC Mom has not been sick ONCE! The other $8500/mo. nursing home she was in the emergency room 3 times. Mom is happy and healthy and lucid finally. the Manager, Monica, is a real gem and God send. Everyone at this very personal care facility is helpful, accommodating to the point of unbelievable and just as sweet as can be. Wanni, the Asst Mgr, (def not spelled right) is absolutely fabulous, keeps Mom company, interacts a lot with her and makes her laugh. SO GOOD TO SEE! They even have a wonderful stylist who comes to make Mom feel beautiful, Iris Giron, washing, cutting her hair and doing Moms nails and she's very affordable. Speaking of which for all this personal care I pay less than 1/2 of what I was paying at the nursing home. Maritime Pharmacy, takes care of all Moms meds, they have a RN visit as needed and a physical therapist 2x's a week. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!

Good private medical care is so hard to come by, so I'm writing this review. This company is so far…read moreabove any we have had over the years that my family can hardly believe it. We have horror stories that I won't go into, but Uptown has changed all that. We NEVER worry that the nurse aid will be a no-show, even during the storm. Our primary caregiver, Amy had arranged to stay and the owner brought her supplies!!! Bruce is so involved with every aspect of this company. Same goes for the RN nursing director that is involved with every part of my mothers care even though we only have nurse aid care at this time. Kathy is wonderful and I think she said she's been the director for 21 years of the 30 year company. So here's my advice learned from past mistakes we've made. If the company is a franchise homecare business and if not run by an RN, DON'T hire them. They don't have the investment in your family that this company has and staff will leave before the next person shows up without letting you know??..it happened to many time to count! I heard about Uptown from a nurse while my mom was in the hospital. She had a PULSE STAFFING badge and when I asked, she said she was a contract RN. She was my favorite and she told me about Uptown which is the same company as PULSE. I'm very grateful! I've been wanting to write this for months, so hope it helps someone avoid the issues that are so hard to deal with on top of having a loved one that needs care. My MIL lived there for about a month, the communication was horrible and her treatment wasn't much…read morebetter. My MIL got a UTI which made her very anxious, paranoid and angry. We could no longer care for her at home and decided to find a memory care facility for her safety. Auberge seemed great and looks nice, but they didn't know how to handle her and ended up sending her to the psych ward later that month (October). They didn't explain why and we have yet to receive a call to this day. My MIL spent 3 weeks adjusting to new medication and was back to her loving, sweet self! When it came to her release from the psych ward, Auberge had to re-access her before coming back. They were given about 4-5 days notice from the social worker. Auberge was VERY hesitant and waited until the last day to schedule it. Most of this was communicated through text with Auberge (apparently they didn't have time for a phone call) and the social worker. At that point we had to find my MIL a new home just in case Auberge didn't approve her coming back in and frankly, we didn't want her going back to a place that doesn't communicate or show any care or excitement to have her back. The only positive feedback I can give is the nurse's in her "neighborhood" were nice and did communicate with us when we visited. Other staff didn't really say much to us, they did when we toured, but not after that. I think it's cruel how dismissive they were of my MIL because she was more difficult than others. They can't handle the tough side of Alzheimers. There are plenty of memory care facilities in this area, don't send your loved one to this one!

My family had a need to quickly place our Mom in an independent facility following several health…read moreemergencies. I looked on yelp and other review sites and chose three to look at. Tarrytowne was the second location I looked at and when I walked in the front door, I knew this was it. I call it a cruise ship on land. Beautiful dining hall, well kept grounds, wonderful apartments that are cleaned once a week and paper products are included, along with utilities, and if you want, basic cable! I felt obligated to visit the third location. I checked in for my appointment and took a 10 minute tour and thanked the representative for their time. I immediately went back to Tarrytowne and got the paperwork rolling! We made the deal with my mom to give Tarrytowne a try for 6 months and after that if she wanted to move back to her home of 30 years she could, albeit with modifications. After 3 months she made the decision to sell her home and stay at Tarrytowne. We have all been ecstatic. I just made another visit following Harvey to help my mom clear out her home. I miss the folks there already! The staff pulls triple duty with smiles and understanding. I thank you all!

"Manager" Charlotte used her authority to seek a personal agenda against a resident who was in the…read moreprocess of moving out. During that move, the resident had a stroke and was hospitalized. As the family we have been trying to coordinate with multiple facilities and get care for our loved one. Today we attempted to begin moving the stuff from her apartment (and cannot find the keys to our loved one's vehicle). Charlotte has told us that we have to move the stuff out by 4/22 and wanted her final payment. FURHTER, Charlotte had been allowing a person WHO IS NOT RELATED TO OUR FAMILY to move possessions out of our loved one's apartment WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. Upon our arrival today Charlotte called the police on us and refused to allow us to finish the move (which was on her timeline) and said that we cannot move the property without a signed Power of Attorney. AGAIN, Charlotte has been allowing an unrelated person to gain access and take items out of our loved one's apartment but will not allow LISTED FAMILY to access said apartment to finish moving our loved one's belongings. She also cursed us out and told us that another family member that he should have visited more- that family member lives out of state. She is unprofessional. The staff is unprofessional. Our loved one wanted to move out BECAUSE she said Charlotte was stealing from us. I have also reported them for elderly abuse.

Our experience has been a solid 10 with every aspect of the community, and we wouldn't necessarily qualify as easy to please. Residents are genuinely enjoying their retirement here and there is a relaxed, friendly culture. There is an impressive range of activities, classes, interest groups and entertainment. Having spent a 40-yr career in healthcare, I asked to tour the assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing units. All reflected high quality care in immaculately clean, homelike surroundings. As long term care goes, this is as good as it gets (as a former nursing home administrator and director of nursing service, I'm in a position to assess this accurately). We researched life plan communities for several yrs and are satisfied that we made the best choice, as more than 20k other Erickson residents have done across the US.

I can only speak of the private group home for 18+ with Day Habilitation, transportation services, supervision, medication management and meals. My son has high functioning autism. He was housed for 23 days, after paying for a month. Since day one and every few days there were issues. To list the ones we experienced: Extremely small rooms with 2-3 twin XL beds, DayHab van driver speeds- expressed road rage all while talking and arguing on the phone (Overheard), Dayhab supervision is flawed, smoking inside rooms (observed during visit), staff asleep on the clock (observed), staff gives medication off schedule (observed), staff tries to take gift that was sent for my son (text message to prove it), Dayhab does not individualize meals gave my son crackers, cheese and carrots, it was communicated prior that he doesn't eat cheese or carrots. That snack is the only meal there- after I complained -they said he can bring a lunch. The programming consists of playing hang man and coloring. I requested and was told my son would get career advice and assistance applying for jobs and lifeskill assistance. All this was reported, and all was apologized for along with accountability (in emails)As a whole the organization let us down. They charge up to $1,000 per person at 10-12 people per home. That $12,000 a month is all that seems to matter. You're not getting your money's worth. Once we chose to cancel services and declined their offers to try another home they had- and requested a refund ( they say it's against policy) for the false advertising and misleading business practices and clear violations of known Texas Penal Codes. I had high hopes for this place in the beginning. The tenants are superstars. The Coordinator, Heryville was extremely professional and responsive. I just wish this wasn't so common in home care facilities we trust with our loved ones.

Not only are they extremely communicative about everything going on with my father but they also truly care for him, in the way you could only hope for throughout these tough times. Natasha and Kelia are truly some of the kindest most compassionate people I know and I honestly feel so blessed to have found this care home. I visit my dad often and every time I go he's always extremely clean, very well taken care of, and he loves the food they cook! The comfort they have given me throughout this process is priceless and I will forever be grateful for the amazing staff and care home.
