Before the original vet retired, this place was great but now that is the complete contrary experience. I took my dog in for allergy issues, they suggest a monthly shot that ran me over $180 a visit. Not only was it that expensive, THE SHOT DIDNT WORK. I expressed this to them and all I got was a "well if you bring her monthly, it'll eventually get better". After 3 months of being on that shot, she did not get better. As clearly shown on my photos. Luckily, I am now taking her to another vet, who is going to check her from head to toe and really figure out what is going on with my poor girl. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about willow rock and their vets, vet techs and staff! About a little over a month ago we noticed our 16 year old yorkie Bella was needing to go potty a lot, upon inspection we noticed some blood in her urine. We were taking our dogs to Rocklin Ranch Vet office but when we called they said they had no openings and wanted to charge us like $175 just to see her and keep her all day as an emergency charge, we decided to call Willow Rock and from the start I'm so glad that we did! They got us in same day, no extra emergency charges. One of the things that my husband and I really liked was that the Vet actually comes out to greet you and take you back to a room, I've never experienced that in all the vets my dog has seen and that really stuck with me. The vet we saw listened to our concerns and addressed all of them. About a month after her UTI, our pup had some blood coming out of her bottom uncontrollably on herself, we called right away and again willow rock got us in instantly within like 20 minutes, no emergency vet assessment charge, assessed her, created a game plan and were very thorough. She ended up with pancreatitis and we got her on the proper treatment. During all this time we noticed her teeth were really starting to bug her so we discussed our options on how to proceed with that since she is 16 years old. They did extensive lab work and recommended waiting 14 days until her redraw for her pancreas levels. The following day after her pancreatitis visit she was still really drowsy from the pain medication she got so when they called to check up on her we explained how she was and again they got her in same day to give her more fluids to help, which perked her right up! Well fast forward to this week, we went in for her monthly librela injection and her redraw of her pancreas labs and during that visit the vet tech came out to talk to me about the plan for her dental work the following day and I had told her how nervous I was just because she's 16 and she went out of her way to explain everything they do to help ease my anxiety about it and it did. Unfortunately, Bella's pancreas lab was still messed up but since her mouth was still bugging her the vet said we can either proceed with the dental work which is higher risk or wait an additional 14 days when ultimately the pancreas can still be elevated due to potential dental disease infection. We decided to go through with the dental work to improve her quality of life, and I must say I was distraught about if I was making the right choice because I did not want to take my dog in and not have her come home with us. Well it's as if the vet knew because she personally came out to talk to us, discuss her plan and made me feel much better about her going under anesthesia. I am happy to say that my dog did great with the procedure and is hopefully on the mend now to improve her quality of life. We cant thank the entire staff there enough for all their love and care they've showed Bella as well as us over this past month. You can tell they genuinely care about your family member and it's not just about money to them. I feel like my dog is in safe hands when she goes there and it really puts me at ease. I have had my yorkie literally half my life since she was 8 weeks old, so she means the world to me and I only want what's best for her and I know that's what they want as well! The 2 vets we have been seeing for our pup are Dr. Cabrera and Dr. Thompson and they have been nothing short of amazing. I don't think they realize just how much it means to us to have them come out to physically talk to us or call us and explain things in detail to put us at ease! We have dealt with multiple vet techs/vet assistants and they have also all been wonderful and friendly as well as the girls at the reception desk! We truly love bringing our pup here! read more

Like many others in our community, we were sad when Dr.Carstens retired. He had been our vet since 2002 and he and his staff provided excellent care to our furry family. Since his retirement, we have had nothing but expert care from The entire staff and veterinarians. I have never had a problem getting a timely appointment and they have been exceptional during a couple of urgent episodes. As a former critical care nurse, I was impressed with their use of state if the art technology. Do they cost more than Dr. Carstens? Yes, but it's worth every dollar! read more

DO NOT PURCHASE MEDS FROM THIS CLINIC! For example, they charged my 87 yr old mother $92.95 for a heart drug for her dog. I called my vet across town and they quoted $70 FOR THE SAME MEDI INE, SAME DOSE, SAME QUANTITY OF TABLETS! They quoted $3000-5000 for dental surgery on her dog when a competitive quote was obtained, it was half the cost. This particular pet hospital was taken over by new management several years ago. In the end I was pleased because this meant I didn't have to sit on hold for half a day waiting for them to pick up the phone and go through the hassle of requesting her records myself. As with everyone else, just a bad experience. Front desk is incompetent. I had an urgent issue with a prescription that needed to be adjusted. The person said that the Dr was busy and would call me back. Waited and waited over 3 hours, called back and she said she left the Dr a note. It was a 1 minute fix so I insisted I speak to someone otherwise I would come in. Through my persistence and not their compassion I was able to get an answer. Also, DO NOT buy their puppy package. Not worth it as they include "potential" visits as a part of the savings. Obviously when you charge that much, a few visits will cost you more than the package! They are all about the MONEY! You would think the first line you receive from their email is "Hi XXXX, thanks for visiting us...." Nope, it's "Please note: Payment is required at time of service. It's important for new customers to realize that Dr Carstens has retired and the business was taken over by a group of local vets and is now corporately managed. The quality of service has dropped off significantly and prices are now much higher! Get ready for the sticker shock from what it used to be. We took my dog there recently and the doctor couldn't keep the appointment despite us being 15 min early so they demanded we just drop her off for a few hours and come get her later. Who has time for that? Otherwise they were going to cancel our appointment. Unprofessional. When we picked her up, she had feces on her front paws and her back legs were coated in urine. She smelled AWFUL. No one from the vet's office cared as they clearly were the ones who put her in that state. Probably by locking her up in the back and just leaving her there. Who knows. When we called and complained they stated they couldn't do anything to rectify the situation. And at double the cost of what we paid under Dr Carstens. So we're done; will find a new vet elsewhere. My distaste for the clinic goes further than finances. Heck, I spent roughly $1,100 every two months with roughly $500.00 a visit in between. For a total of $5700.00+ in a 6 month span.... Spending through the nose to retest and retest and retest because your vet was not on his game. Nor did he take the time to address my pet. Your comment on Google stated we should speak one on one. Caution: This is a serious Medical Malpractice! This is gonna be a serious lawsuit! Could I give -100000 stars? I would! I brought my standard poodle to get the report of how many puppies she gonna have on June 2nd! The vet charged me and told me through the Xray Or sonic that "was" False Pregnancy! Well he said google it....Sure! Because my sister in law gonna visit us on 8th June, so that we can have our trip and stuff planned out! And I did booked SF Lake Tahoe and Napa. On 2nd June! My dog started delivering puppies from 4:10am till 8:35pm. 13 puppies total in 16hours. All of you wouldn't know what my husband and I suffered through that new birth! Which we could put her in a pro-nursing home or hospital(Real Vet) to have puppies! But we were NOT aware! Because that stupid vet told us "False Pregnancy"! I lost 15 pounds by taking care of the new puppies and nursing them in less a week! Even though we lost FIVE new puppies(new life, the puppies did nothing wrong!) ! Because we didn't know what to do, or what we have to do in that short running off time: no nursing puppies place or handy man available to look up immediately since we already had 13 puppies! Yes! 13 puppies! Less in a week, we lost 5 puppies! Because we got totally wrong info from the vet that we trusted! Oh, I had my previous dog had 3 surgeries there but never got fixed her joint pain we still paid $3000+$2500+$1750! Were that all Medical Malpractice? Before Dr. Carstens retired this place was great ! standing room only in his waiting area he truly cared for your pet! I have been here 3x and only once was there one person in the waiting room! I should have known then what was ahead for me. no bedside matter not one person said anything to Noel my dog. she was not feeling well and she had something in her paw but she wouldn't let me see. also threw up and had a bloody poop. in comes the dr. with the tech and the clip board ! what happened to true VETS that cared about your pet and not how much money they were going to charge you! it's very sad. I was really upset I'm a senior on a fixed income I love my Noel and would do anything for her but that was out of the question! they wanted $98 to clean her ears and $64 for the medication I said I will do the drops at home that bought the bill to $307 which I paid. when they bought Noel back I said did you have a hard time removing the rock! Oh ! we forgot!!!! you forgot really back she went to have the rock removed $307 and they forgot to remove the rock! When I was leaving they told me they would e mail my receipt.this was a Fri Never got receipt. Then I get a call on Sat to see how Noel was any questions call them so I called they are closed on Saturday! so was that just a prerecorded message that they just send out!!!!! After a long day with my pup Rizzo I want to tell you about Dr. Thompson. She is an angel sent to me by the pet angels. On a Friday night, 15 mins until closing, I showed up in my pajamas with my dog, in tears. I didn't know where to go because I was visiting family. Dr. Thompson and her staff took my dog and stabilized her until I could find an emergency vet to take her overnight. Not only that but she talked to the emergency vet so that my showing up was an easy transfer. I think what Dr. Thompson and staff did for Rizzo saved her life because the response was immediate and I am just so thankful. Listen ... anyone who does this takes a non client and helps an animal in crisis is in their job for the right reason. I am honored to have had this experience despite the situation. I would highly discourage any one from trusting Willow Rock Pet Hospital to treat their animal. I took in my beloved dog for a simple teeth cleaning and when we received him back from Willow Rock Pet Hospital he had 2nd and 3rd degree thermal wounds (as confirmed by our new vet who treated the wounds). We understand that this occurred while under the care of Dr. Dial and a Vet Tech named Jessie. Despite this awful outcome, neither the Vet nor the Tech even had the decency to apologize for what they did to our dog. Dr. Cabrera, one of the owners, refused to even reimburse the teeth cleaning or aftercare unless I agreed to sign an NDA. My dog has been on antibiotics, pain medication and wearing a cone for a month and still hasn't recovered. My dog will be permanently scarred by the thermal wounds. We are devastated by Willow Rock's lack of care, common decency and business practices. It would be my advice for anyone considering this veterinarian clinic to avoid them at all cost. read more

The entity that owns Blue Oaks vet bought Willow Rock and their business model appears to be all about the money. Find another vet, there are plenty of good ones. We use Douglas Blvd vet now and couldn't be happier. They immediately pinpointed the problem our pet was having (without mega expensive tests) and suggested treatments, several of which were readily available thru Chewy.com for a very reasonable price. I will DEFINITELY use them regularly in the future. Word gets around. Apparently the corporate folks who now own Willow Rock and Blue Oaks don't realize that people in Rocklin actually talk to each other. Imagine that.... read more

Decide right now if your animal is just an animal or a loved one. At 6 months we brought our puppy in wondering why he was pooping pure blood and never stopped drinking water. We were told he ate something. That's certainly reasonable with a pup, however the incessant water seeking was a concern with us so we had blood work done. Results were told to us verbally that he was fine and to just limit his water consumption to an agreed amount for his weight. They sent the lab report home with us but I didn't know what I was looking at. My wife and daughter fell in love with this dog. He's a companion, family member and service animal for us. I can not overstate how much he means to this family. The breed averages 15 years life span. 5 years later, the same problem takes us to an emergency vet. $4000 dollars later were told he's in late stage Kidney failure. You know the one thing kidney patients need? extra water. You know the one thing we've limited over the years due to the dr's advice? Water. The doctor told us 12 ounces a day as he's a small guy. We gave 16. Our emergency vet cringed when we mentioned Willow rock. This wasn't the first time he's attempted to clean up their mess. I found the lab results that willow rock gave us 5 years ago. I didn't know what I was looking at then, however I do now. They overlooked the 2 single astronomically high values that indicate kidney issues. Thanks for that Doc. I am still trying to figure out how to tell my daughter that her best friend in the world isn't going to finish this year alive. We expected another 10 years. Had Willow Rock read the results that we paid for, my best friend's kidneys would probably still be limping along. We would have gotten more than 5 years of amazingness from him. High marks for friendly staff, clean facility and cheap meds. Poor marks for actual doctor work. There is nothing in this world that could make this "right" with us. Willow Rock Pet Hospital is one in a million! Dr. Dial is incredibly attentive, thorough and treats each patient and owner as if you are his number one priority. We recently had our 14 year old golden retriever pass away and the staff was amazing and held our hand through the process. We also have another golden who is prone to seizures and has been treated here. The vets are honest and do not suggest unnecessary tests and procedures which results in a fair and reasonable pricing. I have been using Willow Rock Vet since Dr Carsten's owned it. He recently a few months ago sold his business and retired. Blue Oaks Veterinarian purchased it. When Dr Carsten's owned it I would give it a 10 Stars. It has now gone all the way down to 1 star. After reading my story I know you will agree. They are heartless, uncaring, nasty and have raised their prices almost triple in most areas since they took over. Here goes.... I had a beautiful little 12-year-old Chihuahua that was my best friend, Hope. Well my poor little Hope died unexpectedly at an emergency vet. I decided to have an autopsy done on her. The autopsy place said they would only hold her body for approximately a week before they started the autopsy. They wanted all her medical records including x-rays PRIOR to the autopsy. Hope only had one visit to WR. I called them every single day asking for her medical records. They said they were locked out of one of Dr Carsten's systems. Number one, I do not believe that Dr Carsten would sell them a business and not give them FULL access to all of the patient's medical records. I called every single day and each time I was kind, as I learned a long time ago you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. I also recorded all our conversations, so I have proof. And yes, it is legal in California. They later lied in a letter to me and said that I was rude to their employees. Again I have the proof. Then I asked them if I could have the name of the digital company who took the x-rays and I thought I could go through them. They told me that company closed down. How convenient!  Well Friday had come and I realized basically my week was over because I only had until Sunday, so I decided to call Dr Carsten who was retired at his home and ask him, basically beg him if there was any way he could help Willow Rock retrieve those records because I was running out of time and I desperately needed them for the autopsy, as it was one of the very last x-rays my dog received. Keep in mind that I am grieving severely as I'm going through this process. The next thing I know the following Monday or Tuesday a veterinarian from the office called and left me a message saying she wanted to talk to me about Hope's x-ray record. I felt if they had the X-ray why didn't they just send it over instead of having to talk with me because they knew that I asked for it everyday for a week already. They never asked for anything in writing prior to receiving a report. Just a few days before that they sent n me written notes.I also wasn't in a hurry to call them back because #1 by the time they reached me, my autopsy had already been done and #2, I felt that it was probably just going to be them bitching at me for calling Dr Carsten's. Which I actually gave them a heads up that I was going to do. So I never did get in touch with them. Keep in mind that I am grieving severely as I'm going through this process. The next thing I know I get a very mean nasty letter from Willow Rock. This letter is attached. So I guess they were pissed off that I had to call Dr Carsten. Why would they be? I was advocating for my pet!! Haven't they ever heard of an advocate? When one has a sick loved one or a pet in the hospital, there always needs to be somebody to advocate for them. My poor little Hope died and she needed me to advocate for her so that I could get all the information that's possible to get the most accurate autopsy results. They denied me that!! So were they upset that I advocated for my dog? Or were they upset that the retired vet had to call them and they were obviously embarrassed that they couldn't get their s**t together? Probably both. Well that says a lot doesn't it? Also they lied in their letter that they wrote when they said that I wasn't nice to the staff when I called. Lastly, I still have not to this day received her x-rays. They are withholding them until they know I received their bitching out! I wonder if this is legal? It's certainly is purely Vengeful. Retaliative anyone? After reading the letter you will be able to tell how heartless, cold, uncompassionate and nasty this new veterinarian group is. They have no empathy at all for what I was going through or what people go through when they're pet dies. And this is a veterinarian office people!!!! Who should understand it more? They don't. If you want your dog to die and you want a Vet to basically tell you to f*** off after it dies, go to Willow Rock! You will get all the uncaringness, lack of empathy, lies and expensive bills that you could want. The letter attached, is them trying to punish me for advocating for my dog! Such a difficult transition to the new owners. I called for an emergency appt, the receptionist said the next emergency appt they had was in 3 weeks. Unfortunately I have called a few times and can never get in to have our dog seen in a timely manner. I expected a jump in prices but I also expected that with multiple doctors that they would be able to handle a higher volume but that isn't the case. Roughly six weeks later I call to request a refill for the antibiotic, (two dogs, bladder infections), they called back with what was expected... I'd need to come in for an examination first. I expected this after reading the reviews others have left after Dr. Carstens left... and the reviews of Blue Oaks, the company/vets who, I believe, bought him out. Read them for yourself... By the way, the issue with my dogs bladder infections was due to them not drinking enough water. I used a gray plastic water bowl in their kennels overnight and had noticed they would often not drink from them. It was later noticed the small dots in the bottom of the bowls which formed pretty quickly, mold, and my dogs wouldn't touch the water... my fault. I didn't notice this until well after that last vet appointment... and I'd started to notice signs of a bladder infection again. I let staff know... and this being the reason for requesting a refill on the antibiotics. Simple enough... but no. I read where someone had given Blue Oaks a negative review and was threatened with legal action... so you're one of them? SMH Money, money, money, money... No need to respond, I've read your past cookie cutter responses to negative reviews. I already know what you're going to say... It is tough to find a good vet today, one who genuinely cares about both the animals they help and the folks who care for them... a vet who listens and is more concerned with helping over raking someone over the coals financially for their own selfish gain. I have taken my dogs to this hospital for over 10 years and Dr. Carstens has been the most caring fabulous vet. He has now retired. My ver elderly dog was suddenly very sick so I called to get a same day appointment. After being left on hold for over 7 minutes, I told the receptionist my need and was told "We can't help you we are all booked". She then went on to say that I should just call around to others vets, or go to an emergency clinic. She was very rude and couldn't have cared less. When Dr Carstens owned this practice he always could see your animal even in an emergency. I have several friends and relatives that also take their animals here and we all are leaving, This IS NOT the same hospital. read more

After going here for many years we have to now find a new vet. SinceDr Carsten retired and Willow Rock was bought out by Blue Oaks Vet, I've read many reviews about how much higher their prices are now, but decided to call anyway since I know Dr C was unusually affordable. My dog has an eye infection and the earliest appointment they were offering was more than a month from now. For an eye infection...Higher prices is one thing, but it seems they have no regard for existing patients or for animal health. So disappointing. read more

To expensive and not very accommodating. Loved Dr. Carstens went to him for years. Grateful I found a new veterinarian that I'm happy with.
