Scheduling online was super easy and efficient - I just needed a pretty standard trim with some layers so not super picky on stylist as I knew there'd be a storm coming in and I have to head to Texas for work the following Monday. I was able to get in right away and Natalie did a great job, she was friendly, conversational, and professional. It was kind of strange she cut my hair part down the middle even though she knew I part it on the side, I've never had a stylist do that before but honestly I usually don't do a whole ton with my hair so it's totally fine. If you value integrity and honesty in a business, do NOT come here. Full disclosure: I am a very passive Minnesotan girl who hates to upset people. But this place completely ripped me off in a way that made me create a Yelp account to share my story! I thought I'd try Willow Salon because it's closer to my home than the wonderful salon I go to in St Louis Park. However, I regret it. The individual I went to for my balayage proceeded to give me the hair color I explicitly told her I did not want (I both explained it to her and showed her pictures). But whatever, sometimes people mess up. That wasn't the issue. She had told me she was putting a mask in my hair while she had already started doing it-- no permission or prior explanation. Thus, I figured it would be included in the price. Wrong. I was charged separately for this. If you're going to give someone an up charge, give them the option to opt out. The mask didn't even do anything-- my hair felt dry as heck. When I later called to schedule a color correction because I explained I wasn't satisfied with the bleach, the qincompetent receptionist (who the owner later completely threw under the bus) scheduled me in for an actual visit. Thus, when I finished the color correction, I was told to pay an additional $15 for the toner. You may say this is silly-- it's just $15. That's not the problem. Since I was already annoyed at the inflated price I had paid for the original service, I was very frustrated they were asking me to pay for a correction that, on their website's policy, says should be of no charge to me. I felt awful for the stylist who did a great job correcting the first stylist's work, because I was intending to give her that money as a gratuity. She was put in a very uncomfortable position because the receptionist standing next to her couldn't articulate the stupid mistake she made. Embarrassing. I asked to get a call from the owner, something I have never done before. They call me a week later blaming the receptionist and saying they'd give me that $15 as a credit to use in the salon. Are you kidding me?? When YOUR employee messed up and doesn't abide by YOUR policy, you return the customer's money. What a disgusting play at integrity. Lastly, this place does not know how to deal with anything but straight Caucasian hair. If you have ethnically curly hair, avoid this place entirely. Not one customer or employee is non-White and I'm afraid that is also echoed in the quality of service. I have never cared about that sort of thing before, so that just tells you how awful this place is. What a shame. read more

Shelby and Annie are great. My first go around I went to Willow to correct a disastrous job and fragile hair. Shelby and Annie took me to a nice platinum in only two visits! But then I went for a root touch up. I went home crying after visiting with a different stylist. I specifically asked them to tone out any brassiness and I went home with major brass. I then asked for this to be corrected, went back in, and my roots were dyed darker rather than toned out. Why??? Yet I went back again and had my hair bleached again, thinking they would achieve the success Annie and Shelby had. But it was nowhere close. So now I had paid for one color correction and tone, another bleaching, and I was being asked to come back again and pay for yet another bleaching. Hundreds of dollars later, I dyed my hair dark. I don't trust the inconsistency here. I would recommend Shelby and Annie, but can not speak for the others. I have never been so upset with a salon service. I've seen other stylists since who have had no problem achieving the very light blonde Annie and Shelby achieved in two appointments, so I have no clue why my last visits to Willow were such a disaster, but absolute waste of money. I paid more for worse results and that is an absolute nightmare when dealing with your hair. My self esteem was completely sunk until I colored over the mess I was left with after my last visit here. read more

Mallory is amazing! I've gotten my hair done about three times now. I came in with super dark almost black hair and ask for kinda the impossible. I asked for purple and man has she blown me a way as a colorist and a stylist! She did a balayage to help with better keep up and I have gotten so many compliments on it! When it fades it fades beautifully and I still get compliments! Even walking out from the other stylists! My hair is still healthy even after bleaching and soft! I just moved to Minnesota and have been searching for a salon with stylist that can do balayage for my hair - which I have to say is super thick and long (I'm normally at any salon for a minimum of 3.5 hours). I went to willow salon and I have to say I love my hair! I went from brown/blonde balayage to the brown/grey balayage with Brit. She spent so much time making sure everything was properly highlighted, blended, toned and perfect grey coverage. I love my hair! After my service - I realized a needed more toner and I paid for a cut - which we didn't do (both of us forgot), so I needed a cut or refund. I called and spoke to the owner Nicole and manager and they were absolutely amazing! They made time for me immediately and took care of my needs and ensured I was happy with everything. I would definitely recommend Willow Salon! Not only do they do an amazing job, have great customer service, amazing hours, but they actually care. They want you leaving the salon loving your hair. WORST SALON EVER! I went in to have my roots done and a haircut. I saw a young stylist. When she sat me down she asked "what are we doing today?" I said touching up my greys and foils. Also a haircut. She then asked "All of your greys?" Well yes, I said. Don't leave any! I thought it was odd she said that. She then proceeded to put the product on my roots. Now, she saw what I looked like when I walked in and sat in her chair. My hair is blonde with highlights and darker underneath as contrast. I even showed her the areas of my concern. As she put the product on my hair it started to itch. I asked for a towel as my fingers were full of this staining product. She gave me a tiny round pad which did nothing. As I sat there with the product itching my head she finally gave me her comb to use to scratch my scalp. She then rinsed my hair after it was done processing. The chair I sat in was broken and extremely uncomfortable. When she combed it out my roots looked very dark. I asked her "Did you make me dark??" She said, "no, its the same color as your hair underneath." Again.....I came in as a blonde. No dark hair on the top of my head! As she dried it and it became very apparent she did absolutely make my roots dark. I told her this is not what I wanted. You saw me when I walked in! There was no dark except underneath. She said "Well I guess that's where I was confused. I tried to match your roots to the color underneath". REALLY??? I was dumbfounded...and very upset. She said "Just come back and I'll put a couple of foils in". Well I told her that isn't an option as I was hosting a baby shower in 2 days and also have job interviews in the next few days. She knew I wasn't happy. As she started to cut my hair, she was shaking and I told her "stop cutting". As I looked in the mirror at the nightmare she had created the stylist at the station across the room was staring at me and knew something was going on. As I approached the front desk no one said anything to me. Knowing I was visibly upset and in tears NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. I foolishly paid ( she didn't charge me for the haircut which she didn't do anyways). Asked for an itemized receipt and still NO ONE SAID ANYTHING TO ME. I left and sobbed the whole way home. Once home I called the salon and asked to speak with the manager. (Which I should have never had to call them....they should have called me knowing how upset I was.) Lauren was with a client and called me back. I explained the situation to her and asked for a refund due to the horrible situation my hair was now in. She stated she had to talk to the owner who was on maternity leave. Allegedly she would be calling me. She called me on Saturday during the baby shower I was hosting so I obviously could not answer. I called and left a message on Sunday asking for a call on Monday. Nicole, the owner called and I explained in great detail everything that happened and how upset I am about my hair. I asked for a full refund of $96 stating I will be going elsewhere to have this fixed. She stated "We don't do that at our salon. I will have someone else fix it for you". I then told her I am absolutely NOT returning due to the way I was treated and how my hair looks like I colored it light and now dark roots have grown out. It looks like I haven't been to a salon in months. It looks HORRIBLE. I again asked for a refund. She refused and stated she can't do that. I said you are the owner! And as a customer I am asking for a refund. After about 15 minutes she stated she will send me a check for half. I told her from start to finish the customer service was awful and I will go out of my way to tell my story as people look at me like "what happened to your hair??" She then accused me of slander. She probably should look up the meaning of that word. Also I said my husband may be calling to discuss this with her as well. She accused me of threatening her. From start to finish this was A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!! read more

My first visit here was great and I was very excited to return, however my second visit was a nightmare. My stylist told me off the bat not to talk with her while she was working, um ok, and then when I asked about follow up visits she tells me I don't do regrowth only foils.. That would have been nice to know prior. When she washed my hair it was a completely different color than what I asked for, not even close. She asked me what I wanted her to do, I said please correct it, she said her next client was there and asked me to leave with wet hair. She still charged me for the bad color, and I've been paying well over 100 additional dollars just trying to fix this mess. They said they didn't use clippers then proceed to chunk up my hair on the sides, I ask for a haircut with reference pictures and they leave way too much hair on the top of my head and has 0 balance, had to cut my hair myself afterwards to fix what they didn't do properly. Asked for a fade and didn't get one, left the waves in my hair instead of cutting shorter for a proper undercut, I've done this myself for 2 years with 0 problems and will keep cutting my own hair, waste of 30 dollars read more

Excellent! I've been going to the low-priced salons (Fantastic Sam's, Great Clips) my whole life. They can do a basic cut, but I've had some bad experiences recently, so I decided to move a step up at Willow Salon. They offered me water or coffee when I came in, and my stylist Annie came out a couple minutes later. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she asked detailed questions to get a better idea. She was friendly, and we chatted off and on throughout the cut. I was going from shoulder-length hair to a pixie cut, and she was careful to pause a few times to ask if I wanted to go shorter. The final product was exactly what I wanted, and I don't look like a boy, which is what I was afraid of with going this short. Altogether a great experience, and definitely worth the slightly higher price. read more

My experience at Willow was terrible. I went in for a hair trial for my wedding- just wanting tight curls and nothing else. Went home with essentially straight hair with a couple loose waves. I have NO idea why she had such a hard time. I curl my own hair and it stays all day long and never falls. It seriously seemed like she had never curled someone's hair before and even hit me with the curling iron. Stylist seemed very annoyed with me and acted like I was wasting her time. The tools that were used were not put back with unused tools- you could tell that they washed them before reusing. 2.) The stylist was professional and friendly and really met my haircut needs. 3.) This was my first visit to Willow - I decided to try them out being that they had received a 'Best of Maple Grove' Award. I booked the appointment online (which was simple and easy) and went with a stylist named Melissa and she was AWESOME! She reviewed the photos that I gave her and took the time to find out what I wanted before we moved on. I was impressed that she answered all of my questions and even went over the two different styles that I showed her and gave me the pros/cons as I was concerned that I didn't want something that was going to be a daily hassle as I have a very active baby and sometimes I just don't have the time. In the end I ended up cutting off 7+ inches and she made sure I was comfortable along the way and even asked several times if I was sure that I wanted that drastic of a change- the haircut turned out fabulous and she took the time to style it really adorable as I was going in to work. Ok so i found this little salon on yelp and decided to go here today. Boy was i nervous! The last time i went to get my hair cut was ten months ago at fantastic sams at miracle mile and the girl cut my hair about four inches too short and i cried for days. I have short, super fine hair and i am thinning on top.... So last night when i called this place, i explained that i am special needs for hair lol. I arrived today at 1:30 and my stylist Ashli met me with a beautiful smile. 45 minutes later I walked out confident and my hair looked GREAT! This girl is only 27 but she is a MASTER with the scissors! She listened carefully...didn't get scissor happy....and PERFECTLY crafted my hairstyle just like the pictures I brought in on my phone.
