Well my son got his first car and it's a Subaru Forester 2011...nice little car for a new driver and I thought we'll need to teach him to maintain it, so the first oil change comes up and I bought all the supplies but had to go to the dealership for the crush washers for the oil drain plug and they were friendly enough about it...then went home to do said oil change......the drain plug for that model was recalled because for hell or high water it would not come out with out it getting stripped or broken https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10207172-0001.pdf So next morning back to the same parts department and ordered the new drain plug....charged me $10.00 for it even though it was a recall!...said I would have to get them to do it if I wanted it for free!?...so pay for a $100.00 oil change to get a RECALLED PART!...when asked if I'd like a receipt I told them I don't want any evidence that I paid for a RECALL!..sad. read more

We saw the nice orange 2018 crosstrek on kijiji and I got in touch with Bruce . He got back right away, booked an appointment and had the car ready. He took the time to show us options for other vehicles as well. He spent the time to allow us to test drive the cars we wanted. He showed us all the interior options and compared the Impreza and crosstrek. He let us know about the Subaru incentives going on and he took the time to walk us around to look at all the different colour options of the actual cars. He was patient and took the time to answer all our questions. He let us know about worth while add ons and had a great sense of humour. He was in touch during the week with the items we needed and kept us up to date. On pick up day the car was beautiful and ready for our agreed upon time. It was inside and he went over the final details. It has the new winter tires on and the add ons we purchased. He came out with Edwin. Edwin was also amazing and such a fantastic part of your team. He showed my wife all the features and buttons and made her feel confident leaving the dealership. I asked the sales guy to apply the holiday discount (which doesn't cost the dealership since it's offered by Subaru corporate) and he straight up refused, claiming he didn't know since he was on vacation. An "okay" car shopping experience, as salesperson Kent was rather honest with the pricing. There was a $300 charge to get my car "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" although it was advertised on their website that the car is indeed certified pre-owned. Is that even legal? Whatever happened to all-in pricing? Anyway, I did get that sorted out as I had that "discounted" out of the price. I asked why there was some more upcharges (which, again, were eventually "discounted" kinda like your "no-tax" sales events that are just 13%-sale events), and guy just blatantly told me "the management just does it for the money." Scarboro Mazda did something like this to me when I bought a 2014 Mazda 6 from them in 2017, and I had to call OMVIC to clear the upcharge. They were helpful in resolving my concerns however, like when the 2016 Forester I got from them didn't have any rear floormats. The sales manager Igor got me a new, full set of mats straight out of parts department. Service is rather good, as they have been helpful with explaining seemingly normal and trivial things happening to my new-to-me car. I had to come back 2 times for different "problems" that were actually just part of the car's peculiarities, and they were more than happy to accommodate and assist. But again for sales, it's an "okay" shopping experience. Nothing to brag to your friends, nothing to write home about. read more

If u try claiming a warranty, first thing they do is make you wait 1 month for nothing. Second thing you ask them why is it taking too long for a claim? The move to the new location has made it much more convenient to get into, much bigger, and more parking space. If anyone has been to the old dealership u know parking was a Lil tuff... But that's no problem at the new location. There is also an indoor service parking which is great when brining ur car in for service. I picked up my Crosstrek today. Bruce Zhou is my Sales Consultant at Willowdale Subaru. He and his manager Roger gave me a great deal. I was very happy. Bruce gave me great service: he was thorough, he took his time to show me the car, he showed me the service centre. There was no sales gimmick. It was just a honest pleasant transaction. Everything was on time. He explained the paperwork in simple terms. Bruce was polite through-out the (positive) experience. I did not feel any pressure. Even when I texted him in the evening he answered me promptly. I have purchased and leased many cars in my days. He is at the top of my list. I have driven my Crosstrek (Limited trim) over 30 km today on this my first day. I love the vehicle. Comfortable. It has ample power. Responsive. Lots of toys. I was looking for a used Forester. I was concerning the history of the car. They offered me 2 cars that have good history the compare the mileage and the wears and breaks, After I bought the car, the change gear light was not on. I talked to the dealer once. I thought there is no light in that part of the car. 2 years later I saw it blinked! I went back to the Subaru and they are politely fixing the problem without charging! Excuse they give: "We are a the limit of how many appointments we can book in one day and the first available is December 13, 2016". Talked to a long term Service Advisor there named John and he was the most dismissive individual I have heard. Recently bought a 2014 Outback, and I will never visit Willowdale Subaru again. I interacted with 1 sales person (who was fine), and 2 different business managers who tried every trick in the book to take advantage and con my wife and I. I had negotiated a deal with another dealer, and called Subaru Willowdale to see if they would match or beat, which they said they could and would. Went to the dealership, test drove an Outback, and sat at the sales person's desk. I presented them the deal I wanted, and told them if they couldn't match it, I was leaving. The sales person took my credit card (apparently to show that I was a serious buyer), and went to the business manager -- he kept us waiting for almost 30 minutes. The counter-offer came back with a number of bogus fees which they tried to pass off as "Mandatory", such as: - $300 "Tricor" window etching fee - $400 "Alignment Fee" - $100 "Cleaning Fee" I called another dealership and verified these are all fake charges, and asked for my credit card back to leave. After leaving the dealership to drive to the other dealership, they called back and claimed they had made a mistake on the fees - they asked us to come back. We did, and they presented another offer with all of the bogus fees removed. We agreed to the deal, and signed the paperwork, which clearly indicated there would be no more than 90KM on the car on the paperwork. We confirmed with the business manager that the off-site storage for the cars was close (~2-3KM away from the dealership). After a few days, we came back to pickup the car. The salesman sat us down on the desk, and asked us to sign the paperwork. Out of sheer luck we asked to confirm how many KMs were on the odometer - he said there were ~230KM. At that point, we were furious as: a) the contract stated no more than 90KM, and b) they confirmed the off-site storage was 2-3km away. We asked to cancel the deal, at which point they informed us that the credit check was on our record, and any other deal would add another. We asked for a different car, had them physically drive us to the off-site storage to visually read the odometer (~23km), and told the business manager that there should be no more than +5KM on the odometer when we pick it up. We re-agreed to a new deal, and they generated new paperwork, with the exact terms as the old deal. Upon reviewing the new paperwork, everything matched, except one fine detail: they had checked "No" on whether the car was eligible for CAMVAP (if you don't know what that is, check here: camvap.ca -- in short, it's a consumer protection that does binding arbitrations if you ever have a dispute with your dealer/manufacturer). Luckily, we caught that change as well and ask them to change it back to "yes" -- the business manager claimed he didn't know how the checkbox went from yes to no. I hope this review helps potential customers STAY AWAY from Subaru Willowdale. It's a shame that the Subaru brand has to suffer at the hands of con-men business managers. read more

The worst customer service I have received in years... Avoid this place if you are looking for a lease. We were trying to get the car returned to them, so the salesman did a pre-inspection. When we leased, we have got a excessive wear and tear 4000$ waiver. By definition of the waiver we are waived for excessive wear and tear cost up to 4000$. However, what the sales told us were like almost everything he found (bold tire, rust) was not covered by that 4000$ and we have to pay or fix before we return the car. We asked him to tell us what is covered by 4000$. Then, instead of giving explanation to us he kept saying I don't understand why you guys didn't read the coverage chart; the policy for the tires before 2013 is different... We asked him where is the written coverage chart before 2013. Then,he was saying he's been told in his job training and we are the worst customer he ever had and he called our request is a "childish play". 3 years ago, before they moved, they had excellent service and attitude. After three years, different place, different people, though I liked the car, I'm seriously disappointed now and not going back to Subaru again. read more

Dishonest and deceptive sales tactics! I would give zero stars if possible. I ordered a Forester in February. The car we wanted wasn't in stock and and needed 8 weeks to be delivered. A few days after I ordered (with more than 7 weeks left before delivery), I noticed a $500 charge labelled "Subaru value package" on my bill of sale. When I asked about it, I was told it was for the floor mats, touch up paint etc. that I wanted. When I protested that these were items that were offered to me as part of the negotiation, the sales guy Bruce Zhou actually replied, "Well, we never said it was free!" What the???? You never told me it was going to be $500!!! To be clear, no one ever mentioned the "subaru value package" to me, told me what it consisted of, or told me what the cost was until I asked! The manager, Afshin Soufivand, was no more help, insisting that I signed for the charge on the bill of sale, and he wasn't going to take it off. It's $500!!! In the grand scheme of life, it makes no difference to me... and certainly shouldn't make a difference to a car dealership. But their refusal to remove the package (and their insistance that pay for something I didn't expect or want) speaks to the lows to which they will stoop to cheat you out of a buck. Do not trust these people! They would rather make a quick buck and have you leave an unhappy customer. read more

My wife visited the dealership for a routine 20,000km maintenance. When she came back I was absolutely shocked to see that they charged her $494.51 for that maintenance. I think it is OUTARGUES. In my whole life, I NEVER paid anything close to it for a simple maintenance. Even my Acura dealer charges around $200 for the service B maintenance. I believe they took advantage of my wife and her ignorance. In addition, the invoice is for $469.88 but the credit card was charged for $494.51. Went for a test drive, spoke to the sales rep for a few minutes about my trade in, called my husband to discuss, and by the time I was off the phone the sales rep one desk over removed the key, etc. and sold it! First time I took my car in at this dealership for oil change, change wiper blades and swap tires. Why am I paying over $100 for an oil change? It should take 30 - 45 mins max. Why was I charge labour to change the wiper insert? Labour for 22 mins? They only thing that was on par with other dealerships was the tire swap. Never taking my car here for maintenance again. One of the worst dealerships I have ever walked into. Non-existent customer service. I walked into the dealership and wasn't even acknowledged by sales staff although it was blatantly obvious that they were standing around chatting with each other. I had to walk up to the Reception and ask if anyone was working. Salesperson who finally came over didn't bother explaining anything about the car. When we asked about pricing details, he just showed us the monitor with the list price and said that's it. Made no effort to make a deal. To me, it just shows that this dealership doesn't want any business. Very poor car shopping experience, and dealt with such dishonesty. Without a lie or exaggeration, here is my frustrating experience and mistreatment. First of all I am a loyal Subaru customer/fan and currently lease a 2016 WRX, and I previously leased a 2013 WRX STi from Willowdale. My previous sales experience with Willowdale several years ago was actually good. In the recent few months, Willowdale offered me a loyalty program for my previous STi and I was interested in the 2016 WRX. So I returned to Willowdale with some excitement. However, a sales named B.Z. , used car manager, and business manager (who I dealt with before) were very dishonest and attempted to scam me for extra profit. First of all, an early lease return of my previous STi somehow had "negative equity" despite it was in exceptional condition and low kilometers (56,000KM) they used this as a means to avoid offering any discounts on my lease...the only discount given was a low interest rate. Furthermore, they only had a WRX in one colour available citing "there's no more stock for this trim in Canada, and not until the summer but you risk paying high interest then". So I still thought the deal was acceptable as I love the new WRX and it was a better fit for my family. I couldn't afford to wait for the 2017 WRX in the summer (at the earliest arrival) So I went to sign an lease contract and order. I picked up the car weeks later only to be asked to give the dealer my STi winter tires as well. I obviously refused as it was not previously discussed nor was it written in the lease contract. The sales B.Z. said that my STi tires were apart of their car appraisal and if I refuse to give them the tires they can still offer me to purchase them back. I was fuming but still kept very calm and civil. There's absolutely no sense for me to re-purchase a set of winter tires that I already owned/purchased myself. So B.Z. kept a set of my WRX key and told me to "just enjoy the car we'll worry about this tomorrow" So he told me await for his telephone call the next day in-order to provide me a price to pay for the STi winter tires (that I already own). I was baffled, upset, and felt I was pushed into some scam. The next day I received advice on this matter, and surely this was unacceptable. I notified the sales B.Z. very respectfully that if this issue wasn't resolved then I was prepared to report to Subaru Canada headquarters and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Several days passed and B.Z. offered an apology citing that there was a confusion with my previous STi and a recently used 2011 WRX in the same colour, with a set of winter tires. Somehow they were confused to believe that I was returning a 2011 WRX which clearly they were aware (on contract) that I was returning a 2013 WRX STi. Hence, I no longer owe them my winter tires nor owe them any money for them. It was a story that was maybe believable, but I can surely sense with confidence that it was a false story. In the end, I avoided a scam. I was monitoring the Willowdale dealership used-car ads for a few weeks, and in a few days after I picked up my WRX, I found my previous STi... and to no surprised I did not find this so-called used 2011 WRX with winter tires. My previous STi was sold within a few days of posting , and so much for "negative equity" as they definitely made a good profit regardless. So please do not order your Subaru at Willowdale unless you like to risk being mistreated and handled with dishonesty. Subaru's are great cars and I recommend them to my family, relatives, and friends. They also drive Subaru's because of my recommendations. Do not allow dealers and staff such as Willowdale deter your from owning great, safe, enjoyable, reliable cars like a Subaru. read more

I would definitely tell everyone to stay away from Willowdale Subaru as far as possible simply because I had a horrible experience with the sales lady named Grace Long at this local Subaru Willowdale location. I wanted to get a new Subaru Impreza so I did some homework on the car and some price comparison, finally I have decided to come to Willowdale Subaru dealership to make the purchase (also because it was close to where I lived). Grace Long was the sales lady that greeted us as soon as we walked into the door. We didn't want to waste any of her time so we kindly asked her if she can honor the price that we received from the Richmondhill Subaru dealership. she didn't want to honor the price at first and not only that she shamed us and called us cheap. We negotiated for a bit then she took my credit card and pressured me into making a quick decision and implied that she would not give back the card unless I decide on that day. My family and I really like the car so we had no choice...After she made the sale, Grace told me to give her 10/10 on the customer service satisfaction survey which I will receive in the email in a few days. I believe sales people need to earn their good reputation not by begging so of course I didn't give her a perfect score, right after that she called me up and humiliated me over the phone (called me a lair, insulted my family members...). To make things worse, the Willowdale Subaru dealership didn't have the vehicle onsite on the date I made the purchase, Grace Long told me to wait for a week before I can drive my new car. So I waited a week, when I came in to pickup my new car, she gave me the keys and also rushed me out of the dealership. It was only the next day, I found out they put my license plate sticker in the (front) registration plate instead of the back plate. And when I called in to service department, they didn't seem too surprised and told me to fix it myself. Grace Long is a very aggressive and deceptive sales person. I am very disgusted by her dishonest and questionable sales tactics. She only cares how much commission she will make out of you so stay away from her if possible!! read more

I recently leased a 2019 Forester from Willowdale Suburu. The customer service that I received from Afshin, Maya, Mohammed and Orson was impressive from start to finish. They displayed the right combination of professionalism and friendliness. Willowdale Subaru not only ensured that I received the most competitive lease but they went over and beyond to ensure that I was well informed of all the important car features. For example, Mohammed met with me 3 times within 2 weeks of signing the lease in order to respond to numerous follow up questions that I had. I went to this dealership looking for a new car. I must have spent 10-15 minutes before looking around the sales floor and not a single sales person even tried to talk to me. I had to go to the reception to ask if anyone can tell me about a car I was interested in, apparently all the sale staff were just talking to each other in the middle of the room. After getting a sales person to acknowledge my interesting in purchasing a new car. I ask if they can tell me more about the car, the salesperson was not knowledgeable about the vehicle I was interested in. I asked if he can show me some number, he was dis interested in just mumble something under his breath. He was on his cell phone texting someone half the time I was sitting there trying to talk to him. It was one of the worst car buying experience I had. They also try to sell me a 2014 car for 2015 pricing + their extra fees which came up to at least 2000 dollars more then what another dealer was asking for the 2015 model.
