A buddy and I made a last minute tee time at "the Wick" due to not being able to book anywhere else, as well as wanting to be in some decent weather. Arrived at the course about 45 minutes prior to tee time. The range was grass, which would be good if there was grass, unfortunately a lot of dirt and sand due to being used a lot. No biggie. $45 w a cart on a weekend. Fine. Got through about 4-5 holes and realized that as I looked around the course, many if not most of the players, were hitting from the wrong fairway most of the time. Like shots going sideways off the tee, massive slices, and snap hooks. On the 6th or 7th hole a guy playing up our fairway (his tee shot was literally 100 yards off line) decided he could aim at the green instead of just playing to his fairway. He again sliced the $hit out of the ball directly at us. Luckily we were able to dodge the incoming projectile. For the next 3 hours we basically felt like we were at a shooting range with rounds coming at us from every direction. FORE! Thwack! Crack! Felt kinda PRSD traumatized after a while! Now let's get to the fairways. If you're using a cart you have to drive at about 1/3 speed otherwise your fillings will get rattled out of your mouth. The combination of grass, weeds, hard pan, and muddy water made for a situation where every lie on the course is ground under repair. The greens were in good condition compared to everything else. Service was good in the pro shop and restaurant. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll be wearing a helmet and flak jacket. read more

Played here. The amount of balls I lost here was unbelievable. The course lay out makes no sense at all and there were very little signs pointing you towards the next hole. Even when I would drive the fairway it was still impossible to find my ball. The maintenance team needs some serious help. When driving the fairway my ball was either in extremely thick grass or sand. DO NOT PLAY HERE. For $37 I can play somewhere 1000 times better. read more

My son and I recently golfed here at this golf course, it has improved a lot. Roughs are high but fairways and greens are in great condition. Course pace is decent and the service is excellent. Kudos to Brian from the pro shop was great with customer service, he took our tee time over the call. I drop my phone in the pro shop and he brought it to us from the cart. Dude. The fairways have no cart paths nor any smooth surfaces. It's bump after bump after bump, plus dry dead spots on the fairways and near bunkers. For a 53dollar per person course, there is no Matienence nor course care. This is at best a 12 dollar per person course. The Wick is a cool place to play! As we understand it, this is the oldest course in Orange County. There's a great, low key, laid back, vibe here for any level of golfer. Great staff in the clubhouse and it's becoming our favorite place to play. read more

Just a fantastic, wonderful, exciting experience. Went golfing in a foursome that included three adults and one 10-year old boy. $33 for noonish start on a weekend. Front desk young guy was very nice and cordial. Hole 1) 330 yard Par 4. Hole did not have a flag and instead used a crooked small tree branch inside the hole. Hole 2) 200 yard Par 3. Cramped between several holes and green was in terrible condition that was more lumpy than my COVID haircut. However, they used a larger stick/branch to show where the hole was and that was greatly appreciated. Hole 3) 500 yard Par 5. Impossible to tell which way to hit because Hole 8 starts at the same place. Midway through the hole, a large coyote starts to stalk us and is clearly targeting the 10 year old. Hole 4) Short 150 yard par 3. There are weeds growing out of the greens. The coyote is still stalking the 10-year old and waiting for us to leave him so he can pick off his prey. We scream at the coyote and it runs off. Hole 5) 400 yard par 4. Almost impossible to tell where it starts due to graffiti making hole signs unreadable. A homeless person directs us to the start of the hole. There is an old basketball in the middle of the fairway. Hole 6) 450 yard par 5. There's a homeless encampment along this hole along with tents. The homeless people are cooking hot dogs, which smell very good! Hole 7) 180 yard par 3. You better hit it on the green, because everything else consists of overgrown weeds that go mid-shin height. Hole 8) 280 yard par 4. Beautiful view of piles of dirt due to mid-construction bridge and huge gaping holes in the nets separating us from the project homes. Hole 9) 380 yard par 4. Left side hugs the concrete Santa Ana "river". Even though we played in 90 degree weather, there is water from sewage in random spots all over the fairway. Hole 10) 520 yard par 5. Just brutally ugly straight hole that is the longest and most boring you would play in your entire life until.... the Hole 11) 540 yard par 5. Just a repeat of Hole 10 but on the way back and with 20 extra yards. Hole 12) 150 yard par 3. Wonderful view of the decrepit and rundown netting and structure of the driving range. Feels like you're in Book of Eli or Terminator 3. Hole 13) The Coyote is back and staring right at our child. Scared, we skip holes 13 and 14 and go straight to 15. Hole 15) 286 yard par 4. There is a rundown bathroom full of graffiti that smells like the flushing mechanisms do not work. Hole 16) 290 yard par 4. Finding hole 16 after 15 is harder than solving the Da Vinci Code. If you haven't passed 4 other holes, you haven't gone far enough. Hole 17) 178 yard par 3. If you slice even slightly, you will murder the people teeing off on Hole 18. No netting or fencing protecting them at all. Two very large stray dogs run onto the course and one kicks my ball off the green. We leave our balls and the dogs and just head over to 18. Hole 18) 400 yard part 4. Right hand side is piles of dirt and rusty construction materials that are there for no apparent reason. read more

This golf course (using the term quite loosely) is, by far, the worst I have ever played. The conditions are deplorable ( unkept fairways and tee boxes, cart paths that often end in piles of rubble, graffiti , infested with gophers, piles of garbage and what appears to be homeless hang outs). There was a resident coyote that looked real comfortable roaming around out there. Many holes were missing signs that actually told you what hole it was. After doing some research after the fact, it looks like the course is due to close this year. Doesn't do me or my foursome any good after paying $52 each to experience this dystopian hell hole. I would appreciate a refund for my entire foursome so I could try and make it up to my friends who trusted me to make a tee time at an actual working "golf course". The golf course with most golfers with no golf etiquettes what so ever. Worse, no marshal to keep thing in check. Their PDP or range ball program is a scam, there's an "out of range ball" sign permanently post on the window and there's always an excuse of why they ran out of range ball. I made a mistake of paying for the range ball program thing and they never late taking out my money...no excuse there. This course is degraded day by day. Stay away. read more

Update on my 3 star review....4 stars because it's spring now and the course is in pretty good shape. All the homeless tents have been removed. My review is for week day only play as I have never played here on the weekend, but I can honestly say that it has never taken me longer then 3.75 hours to walk this course, I have never taken a cart for this course. My average walking time while playing Tue. or Thurs. from 10-11AM is about 3 hours thirty minutes. I have walked this course a few times in 2 hours 45 minutes while not playing well but still shooting 82-84. I play to exercise and not to go out and drink and hang out all day. This course gets a 5 star for the price and pace of play but the conditions can be very bad at time...But don't listen to me, stay away during the week days. This place is the worst. Please go to any other public course in Orange County and take your time and play in 5 hour. read more

Hands down the worst golf course I've ever played. I don't normally write reviews but man this was bad. It was like paying someone to kick you in the shin. Fairways are non existent. It's dirt, mud, and crabgrass. No groundskeeping is done. You have as a good a chance of hitting a hole in one as you do finding your ball if you hit it into the "fairways" or nearby "rough". The fallen leaves everywhere make it impossible to find anything. Bunkers are hard as a rock. If you decide to play this course, bring a little turf mat with you to hit off of, then you only need to worry about finding a spot where one foot isn't standing in a hole. The driving range is a good representation of the course. Terrible condition. Random assortment of bad range balls. Inaccurate distance posts. Tall grass, weeds, and mud. One of the players in my group had their cart die on them halfway through. On the first tee, the staff was collecting a completely different broken down golf cart that had been abandoned by another group. There are other courses nearby at very similar price points that are leagues above this dirt lot. Do not play here. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I do all my own landscaping, so it's not rocket science to mow the lawn, imo this place needs to be pulled apart and start from scratch..... funny we were talkin to a group of guys that said after ur done here better have your chiropractor on speed dial lmao i honostly felt that bc the groud was so uneven it was like riding in the forest on a dirt bike but alll in alll we did golf and it was fun, the course layout was confusing af too like at some point we got so lost but some vets saw were were driving in circles so they helped. read more

I have played at this course many times years ago. My buddy and I came back today and we were in shock how poor the conditions were. Every hole had something wrong with it. There were dirt patches all over the fairways. Grass/weeds were growing in the sand traps. There were multiple puddles in the middle of the fairways. There was even graffiti on one of the walls. This is the first course I have ever seen graffiti and it looks like it has been there awhile. It honestly looked like the ownership just doesn't care anymore. It was hard to tell the difference between the fairways and the rough. My buddy and I each lost 2 balls playing and neither of us hit it out of bounds. Other golfers commented that the balls were hard to find and go into the Twilight Zone. One good thing is there weren't that many people, so it was easy to find parking spots and we finished in just over 3 hours walking the course. read more

This review is for the range only! There is ample parking space at this range. Small bucket is $5 Large is $10- the large is a great size to share between two beginners just learning to hit! This is all grass range, my favorite!! It was a little muddy but they a bucket to clear your clubs. The grass was nicely kept and there was ample room on a Wednesday afternoon to just hit. People there are usually quiet but I did hear some yelling from the holes around the range...typical especially if people are having fun! I can't wait to come back here and play a 9 hole game and hopefully venture out to the 18! :) read more

Went there to use the range. The listed target distances are off, crab grass is rampantly growing everywhere, and the facilities are generally lackluster and falling apart. The bench near the putting green is bent and broken, which hopefully isn't indicative, but the reviews on this place ring true. The last time I played it was about a 4 hr round, which is pretty fast for the decent public courses I usually play. The staff are very friendly. We purchased a Group Golfer voucher for Willowick and came here last weekend. It was our first time here, and it was easy to find parking and check-in with the front desk. The course is poorly designed. When someone yells "FORE" you have no idea which direction it's coming from. There were multiple instances where balls flew right past our face or right next to us. It's a very dangerous course! Each hole is lined up towards another hole and when you're playing forward, someone else is playing towards you on the other side with very few feet or dividers in between. We couldn't even complete the full course because it was such a terrible course. I'll stick with other courses! read more

My husband, son and I played golf there at noon on Memorial Day. I went to the restaurants and bar to buy a bottle of water. The guy who seated in the bar was drunk and so cranky. He grabbed the water cup, put the ice in the cup and walked to the bathroom. Several minutes later he walked out and handed me the cup. I asked him why he didn't serve us the water in the bar, he said that he got us some better water, I wasn't happy about it, but I still paid $2.00 and went back to play golf. We didn't drink the water because it was turned to yellow color and smell bad. We play golf there often, it is a fun golf course, but this drunk bar guy was very rude and disrespectful.
