I wanted to send my parents flowers when my grandmother died, but I wasn't sure if they were open due to the pandemic. I emailed late Friday evening asking, and first thing Saturday morning got a reply from Ann. We emailed and ended up talking on the phone. Though she was out of the pink roses I really wanted, she said she could order some and have them in a few hours that same day! She asked my budget (which I really appreciated), and said she could design a beautiful bouquet for me, and deliver it that same afternoon, on Saturday. Delivery was only 9.95, not bad at all! My family and I have been customers of Wilmette Flowers for 20+ years, and recently used them for a big family wedding. The first time my mother went in for wedding-related business, Linda (one of the owners) had many suggestions and showed beautiful pictures of arrangements she'd done for other weddings. She's very easy to work with, communicative, and makes fantastic suggestions. Wilmette Flowers provided us with all the bride and bridesmaid bouquets, the groom and groomsmen boutonnieres, mother of the bride corsage, mother of the groom corsage, a beautiful headpiece for the flower girl, and the table centerpieces for the reception. For those, they did high and low arrangements; bright-colored and summery, they complimented the wedding party colors perfectly. Linda also had the great idea to use the table centerpieces in the church for the wedding ceremony, with the arrangements going up the aisle on pillars. They then took the time to take the flowers from the church, and drive them more than 20 miles to the location of the reception and set them up perfectly there. The reception room looked exquisite. The price was reasonable, and payment was very easy (they take credit cards). For a small family business, they do an amazing job of creating beautiful pieces. Would highly recommend, and will be back in the future. read more

I was very disappointed after ordering flowers from her a week ago. I had them delivered for my wife last Friday prior to Mother's Day. They arrived as scheduled and I promptly retrieved them from our front porch so that they would not be damaged by the cold. There were ample flowers and similar flowers to the ones that I ordered however they were jammed into a vase which was obviously too small for the arrangement. It was extremely difficult to even get the flowers out of the vase to put them in a larger vase. The hydrangea wilted and died within a day and the roses started wilting within 2 days. I have bought flowers many times and roses generally last a long time when you spend almost 100 dollars for an arrangement. I cannot justify ordering from here again. Price was too high and the quality was not there. read more

I can't vouch for their cut flowers, but their outdoor selection and greenhouse area is so amazing! It makes me dream of a garden that will never exist due to my incredibly black thumb (full disclosure: I once killed a cactus, but I still maintain my innocence in that death...). We were there on Mother's Day, just like every other procrastinating mother lover on the North side. It was crazy busy, but fully staffed, we were politely asked if we needed help by many different employees. We really knew what we were going for, a European garden type of bucket for outdoors, and we found exactly what we needed. I think some prices seemed a little steep, but this being Wilmette I knew exactly what range we'd be in. We literally spent my exact cost estimate, which I guess was nice because there wasn't any sticker shock. I had a bad customer service experience and not ever going back to them nor I would caution you all to go there. Yesterday late morning, I went into see if they can create a simple boutonniere (just a rose, some leaves and baby breath) to be ready for this Saturday afternoon. They said unless you ordered it earlier, "We are too busy". Seriously? A simple boutonniere? I tried to see if they would work with me by looking at the refrigerated flowers to just let them know I needed just a rose, a leaf and baby breath, but they said they can't do this. And one particular worker (the older one - don't know if she is the owner or just a worker) was actually really curt and very unfriendly. In addition, they really tried to deter me and it really seemed like they were trying to shoo me away by saying "This would cost you $21 anyway". I left and called 2 other nearby florists who said this was an easy order and can easily have this by Saturday afternoon. I went with a florist in Evanston who quoted me $12 and was super friendly. It is my personal opinion that when there is bad customer customer from the get go (right when I entered the store), that is a huge red flag. read more

Florists at Wilmette Flowers came through for my brother's wedding. Linda is very knowledgeable about flowers and has an excellent sense of color coordination and which flowers go together well. She prepared a sample bouquet and flower arrangement for the bride-to-be to look over, before she made the final order of flowers. She is very attentive and asked a lot of questions about the wedding preparations and made sure that we were happy with the decisions made along the way and made certain that we were in agreement. Because of her years of experience, she knew details of wedding ceremony we didn't know about, and she made suggestions to include extra bouquets to honor parents, which she prepared without our asking about them. Despite detailed planning, we had a mishap of misplacing 2 bouquets for maids-of-honor, before the actual wedding ceremony. However, because Wilmette Florists got to the hotel early for the ceremony and were available before, during, and after ceremony, they were able to quickly whip-up/improvise 2 bouquets from the existing flower arrangements planned for the reception tables. Just amazing! Suggestions for pillars along the bridal path and the arch and large flower arrangements on either side of the arch worked beautifully and transformed the ceremony hall into a garden of bliss. I visited Wilmette Florists with my daughter and we were assisted with every detail by owner, Linda Lee. The selection was abundant, the arrangement looked phenomenal and included lovely added details. Just got off the phone with "the owner" and I'm fuming. Apparently don't try and plan ahead with your flower deliveries with this place that's confusing to them. Placed an order on 6/27 for a delivery to take place 8/10 for my anniversary to surprise my partner. The flowers got delivered today and while they're nice this isn't what I paid for. The woman I spoke to was very confused about why I was mad because it "wasn't really a mistake" "they still got pretty flowers". Yeah they did on NOT our anniversary, which was supposed to be a nice surprise for them, which you ruined. Gave the example of ordering flowers for Mother's Day and having them show up on Father's Day and how that's not appropriate. "Why are you bring up Mother's Day??" It's an example of how you messed up how is that not clear? When I asked for a refund they demanded I make my partner bring the flowers back if I wanted one. It was your mistake not his he will not be cleaning your mess up. I know I asked for you to resend the flowers on my originally requested date, but forget it. I can't trust you to get it right and I certainly don't trust you to not charge me for a second delivery. To answer the lady on the phone's question of "Why did you order so far in advance?" it's called planning. read more

When ordering flowers from Wilmette Flowers, you will have to SPECIFY that you don't want any cheap or boring flowers such as Carnations in the arrangement. Otherwise, the florist will use Carnations as a CHEAP filler. A truly creative and talented florist would have the knowledge to use more interesting flowers such as, the Alstroemerias, which is comparable in price to the Carnation. There is an abundance of different types of flowers to use in a floral arrangement. The choices are endless! To the florist, if you want REPEAT business, do not underestimate your client's intelligence. When a florist uses carnations as a substitute for better quality flowers it is a sign that the customer is being ripped off! read more

When I needed flowers yesterday morning with very short notice, I called another locally owned florist. They were unable to create three small bouquets as table centerpieces at the last minute. So I stopped in to this florist and was met with smiling faces and a great attitude. They stopped what they were doing to create 3 bright centerpieces and had me on my way in 20 minutes. This is the kind of service I was hoping for out of the florist that is next door to my place of residence. Fortunately for me, I found a florist I will return to when I need flowers. Linda worked with my budget, answered all my questions, let me come in as often as I needed to and exceeded my expectations on everything.
