I really dislike writing negative reviews. I had a gel pedicure and while the technician was very nice and gave a great leg massage, my nails are a mess. The cuticles are not done correctly, my nails aren't filed smoothly, and the polish is messy and is all on my skin, and it's already peeling! Additionally, the first time I was at this salon, it was a great vibe, and everyone seemed happy. This time, it was tense in there to the point of being uncomfortable. Before leaving this review, I emailed the owners as soon as I noticed how bad it was and included pictures. They replied quickly and said they'll do it over. They called the next day to ask about availability, and said they'd check the schedule and get back to me. Two days later, and I have not heard back from them. I've followed up twice. At this point, I am no longer interested in a redo. I just wish it'd been done correctly the first time. I rarely spend money on pedicures, so I am very disappointed. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I recently moved to Wilmington and am on the hunt for a new go-to salon. I made an appointment several days in advance for a gel manicure. I arrived and had to wait a few minutes for them to finish another client which was fine. During my manicure the tech was very nice but I had to point a few places on my nails that needed some reshaping and still left with nails that weren't the best shape. Near the end of my service several walk-ins came in and the tech doing my nails was told to start someone else's pedicure and a woman (who seemed like the owner or boss) stopped doing her clients nails and came over to finish my manicure. This part of my manicure felt very rushed and rough. The hand massage and hot towel left me feeling a bit disappointed as it took all of 3 minutes. I just felt that someone who made an appointment shouldn't be rushed to accommodate walk ins. After tipping and paying for parking this was a $75 manicure and had it been amazing I would have been happy paying that but it just was a bit lack-luster. To top it off, the very next morning I already have a small chip in one nail when I'm used to my gel lasting at least 2 weeks if not more. The salon is super cute and the techs seem nice so this may have been an off day but I think a salon with only 3 pedicure stations and 3 manicure stations should realize they just aren't going to be able todo as many clients has a larger salon and make sure they give each client a top tier service. read more

I am new to the area and have been trying a bunch of places to find my place, I initially called to see if they had an appointment available before I parked because you pay for parking in the area and when I called Lou ( who answered the phone ) told me that they validate parking that is such a nice perk for the area. I went it basically as a walk in and asked for a mani pedi they didn't have enough time to do both separately so she offer to do both at the same time, normally I don't like that since I feel you are just stretching your arms across to the nail technician but she moved around me and kept my experience super relaxing! I had a fantastic mani and pedi experience they both lasted a very long and looked great ! I can not remember the names of the girls I'm so sorry because they were great I think it may have been Toni and Joy but I could be very wrong... either way I will be going back again for sure read more

I'm not upset with the quality of the work I had done or the general experience I had, but wouldn't go again because of the pricing. I paid $98 (not including tip) for a mani pedi that was more of a $60 experience in my opinion. The nail tech who gave me my pedicure was sweet but the one who gave me a manicure was less sociable and a little aggressive when it cam to shaping up my nails. With a location in the Cotton Exchange and tourist/wedding season coming around I can understand the up charge though. read more

The technician did very little to shape my nails, and applied 3-4 coats of manicure (dip) polish - they looked like "press-on" nails.

What a great place! I was in town and decided to get a last minute manicure. I didn't expect to get one of the best manicures I've ever gotten! The salon is on the second floor inside the Cotton Exchange. Everyone is super nice but I got the coolest manicurist (her name is Panda!) that did a beautiful job. I've been loyal to one nail salon for years, but was looking to try something new. Finding a place downtown was a great surprise and I love the parking validation at Cotton Exchange. I also love online booking and was happy to get a next-day appointment. Worth mentioning that I called Wilmington Nail Salon a few months back and was greeted with just a "Hello?". From reading other reviews, it looks like the owner/manager forwards the salon number to their personal cell so they don't answer with a professional greeting. Not a huge deal, but a bit confusing and did set me back from booking an appointment earlier. Anyway, I went to the salon on a Saturday. The ambience is classy, comfy, and clean. I'd say the regular polish selection is smaller than some places, but that's a huge WIN for me since I get decision-fatigue and they had perfect options. Unfortunately, my nail tech was clearly having a bad day. She barely greeted me and when some people walked in without an appointment while she was giving me a pedicure, she complained about how busy she was going to be. It was pretty awkward and unprofessional. She was also a bit rough when trimming my cuticles, which surprised me. The polish job seemed okay until I got home and realized part of my pinky toe had been skipped altogether. Based on her comments I think she was physically uncomfortable from a long day of pedicures, but for a customer it felt awkward to hear the complaining. I'd potentially go back and either give that tech another chance (we all have bad days) or try another tech. But in the meantime I found another nail salon that I loved, so I won't be in a hurry to rush back. read more

I take my nails SO seriously and so does WNS. I came here after a terrible experience at another salon and Jen fixed me up perfectly. I had on acrylic nails (former tech's suggestion) where usually I like dip. Jen suggested ways I could remedy the situation and told me when something would be more damaging to my nail: the transparency and care for MY experience is what sold me. Truly feel like this salon has my best interests and health at heart. AND the decor and aesthetic is beyond anything I have ever seen. Intimate, River view, and posh. They do not do acrylic nails, and honestly it's for the better. To see the damage to my nails after getting a full set was horrifying, plus the place doesn't smell like chemicals, it smells like the essential oils they diffuse which makes it seem even more spa-like. A day removed and my manicure has set even better than when I left yesterday. You can tell when someone loves their job, is good at it, and wants to share it and that is exactly what Wilmington nail salon does. read more

Well I just moved to Wilmington and been having no luck finding a reliable nail salon. Wilmington Nail Salon didn't make my experience here any better. I called for an appointment and gave them the details of what I wanted done. A gentleman answered and scheduled my appointment for 2:30pm There was another appointment scheduled at 3:30pm. When I walked in, it's a cute little place and it smelled relaxing. I mentioned that I had an appointment and the old lady in the front had no idea I made one. She screamed at her husband on the phone about putting people on the schedule. Then she proceeded to start my mani with an attitude. She kept mentioning that she had another appointment so when the younger girl P.J. with blonde hair was done with her client, she started on my pedicure. I mentioned that since all my nails weren't the same lengths, I wanted tips and she said she doesn't have time to do it and tried to make it my fault that I asked for tips. I ended up just getting a pedicure with the P.J. The older lady was not nice or professional. I came here to relax and get pampered. The pedicure wasn't the best but she took her time which I liked. One star for my actual service and another for the style of the salon. P.J. Didn't know how to do anything apparently because I was just going to ask her to do my hands. She said she don't know how. I wouldn't go back just because that lady had an attitude. I didn't want her rushing through my service. When her 3:30 appt came in she didn't even apologize she just started doing the other lady nails. I don't want to think of it as a racist thing but literally unbelievable. I'm surprised the Wilmington Nail Salon received such a high rating. The man who made the booking was pleasant enough but the other employees were surly at best. I choose no nail polish and no cuticle cutting but felt rough points on the cuticle edges and asked to smooth them down. I was told it would be an additional $10, in addition to $60! I asked for a nail file to do it myself but eventually another employee did it. I regret leaving a generous tip. Go somewhere else. read more
