I Love this place and the service they provide and in 40+ years of being with the VA AND 9 different VA Facilities I finally had my first issue (hence the 4 stars) the GI Doc I saw is a glass full kind of person, he knows it all and you can't tell him nothing, I took a genetic blood test and the medication for my stomach was changed from every day to every other day and he told me there is no such thing as genetic testing, I told him the VACCN GI Doc said I was pre-ulcerous stop taking excedrine and only take Tylenol. He said he deals only in facts not fantasy like was making it up, and when I told him my nurse practitioner he said I am the doctor she is a nurse, WTF! I filed a complaint I am sure nothing will happen but my concern has he changed the orders of PA's and Nurses because he is the "Doctor" and put patients at risk in doing so, he is a man stuck with his refusal to always be educated about new and progressive medicine . What more could I say or talk to him about? I deal in fantasy (lying) not facts, send me outside I have lost confidence in GI Department. I love my NPK AND CARE TEAM but GI don't bother read more

After 2+ years of visiting this VA location, I can fully recommend using the Wilmington VA. I truly have had great care from all aspects including: primary care (Dr. Collier), psychiatrist (Dr. Shaban), dermatologist (Dr. Gewirtzman) and even the VA Police Officer Josh. I thank you all for the respect and care that you have consistently provided for me over the last couple years. I look forward to my upcoming move but, will miss this care team. read more

You will find a clinic that is professionally run and staffed by some of the best physicians. I have never had a problem getting an appointment. The hearing aid eye clinics are second to none. You will not be disappointed with this clinic. read more

My Doctor's are awesome. Dr Hilary Thomas quarterbacks a very complicated health condition and she's not hesitant to refer me out in town. Dr Miller, the chiropractor is world class. The Physical Therapy staff is exceptional!!! Audiology is excellent as well. Everyone is so nice and very respectful. I'm so pleased. I understand things are different with Covid. I understand the screening before hand. There still should be discreet and mindful of HIPPA. Talking loudly to verify a patient has an appt while you are standing at the vehicle and the other person closer to the doors, using name, last 4 and where they are heading is not in any way being mindful of patient privacy. Especially when others are coming out the doors or being checked in as a walk up. Maybe try using other procedures for screening and check in where patient information isn't being broadcast. read more

Worst VA clinic I have been to since becoming a 100% disabled veteran 12 years ago. Rude staff is usually what greets you at the desk and that alone makes me hate going here. Plus they sent me to outside source and the bill was put on my credit which I had a preapproval to buy my first house with VA loan. Bad I don't want to live in Wilmington because of the VA clinic! read more

I have been down here for several months taking care of a family member and am using this facility to get certain medical care so I don't have to run back home which is a 5 hour drive. It is a nice facility however you cannot drink their water. They do have bottled water, but whatever the issue is, it needs to be fixed. I have read they have fixed the drinking water issue. read more

I've been waiting two years to get approved for my follow-up dental treatment in Wilmington. So much for VA Choice. I have been approved before but in order to get any follow-up treatment, the VA will make it as difficult as they can for the doctors and patients to finish the job. What usually happens is that the VA will say the doctor never submitted the paperwork and the dentist will say they did and it just continues for months on end. The only one who really suffers is the veteran who is entitled to the treatment but can't receive it. I would be happy to drive two hours to Fayetteville if that's what it would take to get seen. read more

Coming into the va clinic was a bit confusing with all the cones but besides that it was very fast to get my medication.

Tried to call for an appointment and ended up with a useless Robot/Menu.The call to the Operator ends with one beong Disconnectrd.Got another Clinic to put me through to their Comminicztion center where a live person tried to connect me to a person who handles appointment.The phone rang for five minutes then Disconnectrd. Absurd poorly run..disgraceful. read more

You are crazy 8f you give them more then 2 stars I have been waiting 1.5 yrs for my back surgery to get done. And I am still waiting. No one knows anything or wants to help. I had a MRI done in Jacksonville and it took this va almost a month to even call me about the results. My therapist quit because she was tired of this place, and 9 months later I still don't have another one. We have optical but they can't make or order glasses. We have a place for a dentist but no dentist. You can never call and get ahold of anyone. And the water is still not safe to drink here. Lol I could go on and on. read more

I live in Maysville and our clinics are in Jacksonville and are only for primary care, psychiatry, and blood work so I go to Wilmington for specialists. I have been going to Wilmington since the new clinic opened and it is great. I don't have any problem getting appointments there. Since it is 65 miles away, I could use Community Care instead but I like my specialists in Wilmington especially my neurologist and dentist. You have to do your part though. If you can't get to see a specialist or primary care doctor, I think it is 20-30 days, use Community Care to contact Tri-West to see a non-VA doctor. It takes me about 2 weeks to get an appointment. My dermatologist, podiatrist, and optometrist are all non-VA in Jacksonville. Also, have a premium account on Healthevet so you can get refills on your medications, see all your appointments, and see all the reports and labs including your pictures on an MRI or scan. Also if you don't like your doctor for any reason they will get you another doctor. read more

The employees are very helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you get the service you need. The doctors and specialist are very friendly and helpful also. Couldn't ask for better care. The only thing we are disappointed in is that they no longer have an optometrist at this location. Unfortunately, I have been involved with the Wilmington VA since my move here in 2007. They're useless Had a prescription for warfarin for years. Wilmington sent me to Fayetteville; Fayetteville, NC sent me to Dr.Metjian( Durham VA). He took me off warfarin. I suffered a 2nd pulmonary embolism, check myself in to the local hospital; on a Sunday; was admitted and self released a few days later...should have stayed longer but had a suspicion the VA would screw up. Surprise; they did!!Informed I needed to be pre qualified...unreal PE is life threatening and they actually tell me I needed to call first. I received a bill. Call to get a reason...I did not get pre-approved!! Shocker!! Since that time the VA has deducted over $6000 from my social security. Fast forward; have been on omeprazole for years. prescription expired and Mr Clare; I don't think he is a doctor; refuses to refill my prescription. Talk about non qualified personnel . Now; due to Clare's ignorance; I have to suffer with the result of barrett's esophagus!! Law suit forthcoming!! Anyone recommend a winning lawyer?? read more

There is no rating for this facility! Although clean and new, it is poorly administered, and NO ONE seems to care! I have been going to this clinic since I moved here 4 years ago, and have had nothing but one horror story after another. After serving my country, this is the treatment I get? (Oh sorry, I really don't get treated, all I get is a runaround.) The latest incompetence is the class to quit smoking - they set me up to attend a class every Monday for six weeks, I have been there three times, they have shown up once! No call to cancel, no apology, and no one to discuss this situation with. It takes me an hour to get to this facility from my home, and an hour to return - I guess my time means nothing to these morons! To say I'm angry and upset is an understatement - how many have to suffer; how many have to die before someone takes responsibility for this POORLY run entity? read more
