So I'm going to the summer camp at Monte sano and it's really nice. It's actually like really fun if you have a child to 5 to 6 or 10 to 12 or 7 to 9 or you can go to aqua or steam aqua go swimming every Monday Wednesday and Friday and steam is basically the way you do like different things every week like art you can do clay you can make your own like plant and you can also be an LIT that I think 13 to either 15 or 16 so I mean it's really well so those are just my thoughts on the summer camp for the kids read more

When the New Year came in, I wanted to ramp up my workouts because I needed a bit more than the usual YouTube strength training exercises. After working up some courage, I finally joined a CrossFit fundamentals class. It was more than I expected. The trainers teach you form and different modifications when you can't do the rx weight. Every week I looked forward to that push that CrossFit provided. This month is my second month and although it is challenging, I love it. Everyone in the box is very encouraging and they push you to make it to the end of every WOD (workout of the day). There are people from every background, every color, and shape. After CrossFit, I hop in the steam room to help sweat the detoxes out and relax my muscles. Besides CrossFit, I do have a family membership and my teens also workout in the treadmills and machines on the floor. They also have an indoor track and an outdoor track. The Y also offers sports leagues for the entire family to join. My youngest is on the soccer team. Although they haven't had many practices due to the weather, she enjoys going out in the field and kicking the ball around (she doesn't know what's she's doing, but she loves it). read more

They have a child's basketball court and a full-size basketball court. Other amenities include a pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and child care. Rude representative that acts like she doesn't want to be there. Stood there waiting just to be ignored when the lady just kept looking up at me. Then finally after I wouldn't go away, she says "can I help you" without even looking up. Like if you don't want to work there, freaking quit. They should hire someone who has a more welcoming attitude for first time guests. Don't get mad at me cause you work at the YMCA. Have you tried quitting. read more

The YMCA atmosphere is truly family oriented. The staff are always friendly and willing to assist with anything. The Y offers trainers, classes, swimming pools(indoor and out), basketball court, weights and an amazing indoor track. I am a fan of the indoor track. No matter what the weather is, I have no excuse not to exercise. The track is located on the second floor of the facility. The positioning of the track allows me to see all that goes on below. I call it people watching. You on the other hand may call it nosey(LOL). Whichever the case may be, it helps my 40 minutes past quickly. The membership is very reasonable. The price is even better with the family plan. I add the grandchildren during the summers for swim lessons, water park and basketball. Okay. You're right. It gets them out of my hair a few hours each day. Pretty safe babysitters if you ask me. I sun bath they have lots of fun. Sounds like a win, win to me! Augusta doesn't offer many choices for the young adult population, so why not give the YMCA a try. Be nosey and sun bath in a safe family oriented environment. Who could ask for more?! read more

This is the best YMCA you'll find in the Augusta area because they simply have way more than all the other YMCAs. They have an indoor AND outdoor pool, they do swimming lessons for kids, they have sports programs for kids, and they also offer childcare for all you single parents out there that would like to get your workout on. The outdoor pool has a nice water slide and a little play area for the tiny ones. They do adult swim time for ten minutes every hour. They also have a kitchen that serves your standard pizza and chicken fingers, but it's a little pricey in my opinion. The sports programs for the kids offers pretty much any sport you'd want to sign your kids up for. The sports programs aren't as good as say pop warner or little league but it's a good way to get your kids feet wet with sports before signing them up for the bigger sports leagues. The membership fees here are pretty cheap and you can get friend and family passes so you won't have to pay for the noobs every time you bring someone! read more

This is a nice clean safe place for the whole familty to enjoy physical fitness, at a reasonable price. There are tons of cardio machines, basketball courts, a crossfit room, indoor track, indoor and outdoor pools, and much much more. There is plenty of parking and it is conveniently located at Wheeler Rd and RCD Parkway, just minutes from home. This is a very nice Y. A very nice indoor running track on the 2nd floor with more cardio equipment just in case all the cardio equipment on the 1st floor is full. There's a descent size free weights area, but it gets crowded quickly & there's a lot of workout ‍ machines. There's a nice aquatics area with a water park for the kids & the adults also. I fell in love with the huge crossfit gym . It's about the size of half a basketball court & they offer training throughout the day! read more

So I joined the Y last week and wanted to get a few good sessions in before I started a review. So here we go. Location : for me this gym is super close as I live right around the corner. That is a huge plus for me and makes me more motivated to go. This is a fairly large place but it seems like there is a ton of back office space that isn't really usable by us as the members. Hours: By far this is my biggest grievance. Sunday hours 1pm - 5/6pm? You're kidding right? I'm a graveyard shifter who is asleep during those hours. So I lose out on a work out day because there is absolutely no morning hours or even reasonable night hours. To me that's a huge issue, and something I feel really needs to change. Even if it's just like 9am or something I can cram in a workout before bed. Because that killed an entire day for me. Classes: so far I've only attended the yoga classes as I'm not huge on spin and I prefer early morning classes. Hopefully they will add some of their afternoon classes to a morning add on. From what I can tell there is a decent variety. Saturday classes are lacking and Sunday.. well I chalk that up to the hours. As far as the sunrise yoga class, it was fine but please do us a favor and not have an obnoxious dance class right next door killing all sorts of calming vibes. Run track: I'm trying to recover from an injury in my shoulder so it's been a while since I've run. The upstairs track is kinda neat but I've had to ask more than a few people to move out of the running lane while their walking as I'm trying to run past. So maybe some bigger signs? Pool: this is what caused me to join and will most likely keep me here unless we get an LA Fitness in town. The temperature can be a little cold sometimes, so might want to work on making sure that temperature stays consistent. Also... I get families want to swim together, but if your kid is diving for rings in the swimming lane while you're doing your runs, police them a bit so I don't get hit in the head with the stupid rings as I'm trying to swim my laps. Also lifeguards might want to actually police kids and make sure they aren't pissing off the other members. Other than that the whirlpool and the sauna are nice. Free weights and machines: I feel like this whole room is a bit cramped and could be spaced out better. Basketball courts and pickleball?: I saw pickleball for the first time here at the y. I haven't tried it yet but I may give it a go if they are up to some newbies. It looks pretty fun and active. All in all it's not a terrible place but the hours on Sundays totally flop a whole day for me. PLEASE get some morning hours! read more

Lifeguards are low in supply and great in demand. At this Wilson branch the principle of supply and demand negates right and wrong. A female lifeguard taunted me and management protected her. Now a beautiful woman can have any man, but when a man refuses, watch out! Below is what happened. One male lifeguard put his hands on top of her head and pushed her head down toward his midsection in front of me. She boasted of being the Head lifeguard to me. She spread her legs out like she was mounding a horse in front of another lifeguard in front of me. She stopped another worker and grabbed his hands in hers and held them above their heads in front of me. I saw another male lifeguard give both thumbs in front of me while she was on the opposite side of the pool in the stand. Another male lifeguard saw me walking and moved toward me clapping his hands and laughing to taunt me. I eventually confronted her about these taunts, but she kept silent. I told her that she is her father's responsible until marriage along with the above. Instead she thought awhile, then briskly walked to the closed door with a Green Bay Packers sign. The manager came out and I tried to explain the taunts as best I could. The manager listened deafly and spoke only favorable about the lifeguards and warned me never to speak to her again or we would talk to her manager. On my next visit the lifeguard eyed me and started more taunts. She went out of her way to stop two male members and talk to them in front of me. She won and was celebrating. Before I left I knocked on the closed door with the Green Bay Packer sign. The manager opened the door and I said I would like to talk to her. She said for me to wait while she was on her computer. After a reasonable wait I started talking to her about my situation. She said she has since talked to her manager and anything else from me and I would be gone. I had no defense and the lifeguard had unlimited taunts. I had no choice but to come back later that night and cancel my membership. It's hard finding a gym that can accommodate the entire family's schedule and has child friendly help but I'm a believer in the Y now. My usual Lifetime gym chain that's been my go-to since 2003 is now 2.5 hours away and it's been a struggle to find a quiet place to swim and do yoga. This location is definitely showing some age but I like not having to constantly adjust the volume in my headphones with music and television anymore. Everyone here is so friendly as well. The desk staff, the greeter at the door, and even the people who work out seem to have this sort of camaraderie. I'm impressed with the selection of classes that are included with the monthly membership-it even includes CrossFit and Muy Thai! There's a free weight section, plenty of machines up and downstairs, and two basketball courts that are sometimes utilized for Pickleball or kids activities. I enjoy taking advantage of the indoor track on rainy days and the rowing machine helps me take a break when the track gets a little crowded. The great thing about membership at the Y is that you have so many different locations to choose from but I think the only one with lap pools is Wilson. I love taking a yoga class, then doing a few laps and getting so much done in such little time. read more

I'm not a member at The Family Y location, but I utilize the track very often. The track is open to all and that's great. It is a large facility and it is very crowded all year. This review is about (The Family Y Track). I have utilized the indoor facility too, but not frequently. The track is great. It is not paved, but that's why I like it. It has a field in the middle,which is fenced. It seems to be for soccer practice and games. The parking is good. Lots of spaces. They have an outdoor water fountain if you need to refill your bottle. They recently built a building which is for concessions, but now there is an indoor restroom for track users. The portable restrooms are also still an option. I don't know if the track has lighting because I've never stayed that late or arrived that early. I like it for exercise every now and then. read more

I placed my kids in the summer camp at the YMCA due to COVID extending their school starting. My son cried uncontrollably after picking him up due to a counselor who yelled at him. My kids have never have had issues with anyone at school or any camp. The camp counselor was a bully and there were also kid bullies there as well. It is a dysfunctional camp with a few bad employees who run it. Sadly, these are children who don't deserve to be bullied and belittled. I complained, however, not expecting much change as I have heard of other parents experiencing similar situations at the camps. There are so many better camps in the area - I would never send my kids back! read more

I was a member of the Wilson YMCA for many years before I really discovered it's best feature--Personal Trainer Nancy Stocks. Hiring her to help me train was a splurge for me, but worth every penny! The truth is, I didn't really know how to use all of the machines for best results, and I would not train as frequently or as hard if I didn't have Nancy coaching me. Nancy is certified in multiple training areas from machines to yoga to TRX. She is always prepared and on time for training with a plan and a big smile. Let me just say that I'm reviewing my first experience with this Y-- I really liked the place,overall, it was very clean and well managed/supervised. The reason I give it a 2 is because . . . I just moved to Augusta and am looking to join a gym. My husband had already done the research--I wanted to see the place in person. When walking into the lobby, I stood waiting for about 7 minutes for someone to notice that I was waiting. I just happened to be standing in front of Charles' computer. He finally noticed me and asked what I needed. I told him that I was in the market for a gym and was wondering the prices. He simply pointed to a sheet on the desk. As I'm looking over the sheet, saying "guess I should've brought my glasses, Charles proceeds to say "Hi" to a friend (man-hug) and watch a couple of girls walk by. i had to repeat a couple of times that I was looking and what I needed. He seemed like he was bothered with me as he checked his Facebook. (I guess I wasn't his type!) Anyway, I told him that I was very interested in the Y because it was just down the street from me. He said, "Oh, you want a tour?" So, I'm kind of like, um. that would be nice . . . He took me on a tour (it was an informative one, so I started to forget how I was treated at the desk) but since I'm in customer service, I know how to read people that just would rather not be bothered. After it was over, I was handed an application and it pretty much was over. Maybe I'm being particular, but just based on his apathy, I would not sign up, It is a nice place, however and I'm still contemplating. read more

I love this place. I love this Organization as a whole because they TRULY give back to the community. They don't turn anyone away for financial reasons. They want you and your family to be healthy. It's not "just a gym" with no soul. They REALLY CARE! I had a friend who was interested in joining, and I really couldn't shut up about it. I had never wrote a review for Yelp- so I'm just going to regurgitate the highlights of what I said to her... If you have kids: the Y IS A MUST! Youth sports are free, y'all. FAREEEEE!! (Where else are they free? Nowhere.) -Free childcare when you are working out. "Parents night out" once a month. YOUGETTOLEAVETOURKIDSHEREANDLEAVE! Go have adult conversations and peace and quiet for a few hours. - AN OUTDOOR POOL WITH A WATER SLIDE!! When the sweltering heat of the summer hits: This is the place you want to be. Ahhhhh... if only they had a cute cabana boy to deliver you a Pina Colada! (They also have an indoor pool as well). Ok, even if you don't have kids- the facility and equipment is great. They just built a Crossfit Box INSIDE the Y. And guess what? IT'S FAREEEEEEEEE!! You know how pricey Crossfit can be. It's free! Unreal. I have been to other branches- but this one is my favorite. Everyone is truly friendly and I have made some real friendships here. There always seems to be something fun going on like "Team Lean" or a triathlon challenge etc. etc... The Group Fitness classes are great. Lots of variety for ALL levels of fitness: TRX, Step, Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Spinning, Silver Sneakers, Crossfit, dance classes, Tae Kwon Do...etc, etc... Something that blew me away here was their dedication to special populations: The adapted pool, their Livestrong program for cancer survivors, and their "Murderball" league is so inspiring. (that's wheelchair basketball for those who don't know). Whenever I need motivation- I just take a look around and see these folks in action. Then I shut up and keep running... Anyway, every day that I go- I discover something different, and I always leave happy and that someone really cared that I was there and I said "Hello" to about 20 different people. I joined this location over the summer and really liked it. The members are nice and the atmosphere is so so. I had an issue with the pool hours when the kids went back to school. They really sucked and you could tell they catered to the kids more than the adults. I didn't like the price of the membership and felt it wasn't worth it and when I got a letter stating it was going up even more I ended my membership. There are way too many other gyms in the area that cost less and provide almost the same service. The only advantage to really belong here would be the pool. read more

I literally went to this gym just to squat and run. They only have one olympic squat rack. But they do have a pretty neat 1/12 mile track upstairs. They had a ton of machines and cardio equipment but I've been to much better YMCAs. read more

When I feel like being healthy, I come to the gym. It doesn't happen everyday, but it happens. This Y location has great class options. They have everything from zumba to cross fit. This location also has an indoor and outdoor pool, which I've never swam in. They have a lot of cardio equipment, even some "hidden" treadmills upstairs by the indoor track. I haven't used the weights here, so can't comment on those. I usually come to this Y for zumba & the outdoor track. read more

Way over crowded. The Zumba class I took had so many people that the only exercise I got was trying to avoid being knocked down by the people around me. The pool also rarely allows me a lane to swim by myself, though I am glad they actually have a pool, otherwise I would not even be a member. Though they have a lot of cardio equipment, very few have moving arms. If you have kids (which I don't) this may be a good place for them, but not to get a good workout. read more

I am actually just giving the 5 stars to a specific class there. It is the Zumba Gold class on Mondays at noon with Cindy. I am actually not a senior but I am 6 months pregnant so I figured it'd be just the right speed for me. I had so much fun! I had a smile on my face the entire class. It really got my blood pumping without being too physically demanding on my much heavier body now. I know that Zumba Gold is supposed to be for seniors, but I really think they should market it as a prenatal workout class because I felt fantastic during and afterwards. read more

they cont. to withdraw a monthly payment from my account after I cancelled within the first month. they stated "you didn't cancel, send it in writing" watch your account !! they told me they would send me the info. stating I must cancel in writing, and still have not. Is obvious to them I never checked in, but that wasn't good enough, they still took my money, so I had to close the account they were withdrawing from just to get them to stop taking my money. read more
