The best dentist I been to over the last 6 decades. My wife and I are both very happy with the expertise of Shawn Wilson.

Dr. Wilson has always been upfront with me about my dental care and when it comes to cost, he has Jennifer who is also very straightforward. I have seen Dr. Wilson both with dental insurance and without. When you have insurance, he is obligated by contract to charge your copay. If yu pay cash (not debit or credit card) he (as of 06/26/20) offers a cash discount. His relationship with his staff is priceless (code for funny and special) and he gets away with stuff I am sure other employers wouldn't but he has truly happy staff. And as far as I am concerned, he has happy patients as well. I would also like to add that Dr. Wilson doesn't shy away from difficult cases. I have periodontal issues which required a referral to Dr. Blasengame, and I am in ortho with Dr. Shoff. Doing a crown prep on a patient in braces is challenging at best and Dr. Wilson has never once shied away or made me feel like the particulars of my case made his life difficult (which I know they have!). Also, Dr. Wilson has pointed out that because of my teeth being crowded and twisted, it is much more difficult for me to keep them clean until I am out of braces. Dr. Wilson has NEVER ONCE made me feel bad for the challenges I have or the condition of my smile. I can't say the same for previous dentists. Everyone I've came in contact with in this office is efficient and friendly. They do not shame you or make you feel embarrassed for the shape your teeth are in. Which was a worry of mine after not having regular dental care for most of my adult life. They just get to the business of making a plan to fix them without making a big to-do about it. I appreciated that very much. The work is excellent too, I went there as a kid and teen and am back as an adult in my mid thirties and the work from this dentist is the only work that has held up, no fillings have fallen out or root canals failed through the years like when I've gone to other dentists. Also as a non-insured and cash paying patient, the cost of the dental work seems pretty reasonable to me. read more

Has anyone else have a dentist tell you they don't have patience for your child and walk out? Well, yesterday I did. Trout was having severe tooth pain and couldn't wait for his dentist to be back next week to be seen so we were referred to their sister company. Shawn Wilson, dentist, did not even introduce himself or go over Trout's x-rays, got mad at Trout for moaning while getting a shot in the his gums (next to his infected tooth that needed to be pulled), got irritated when we wouldn't stop moaning and said "I don't have the patience for this", told his nurse to write a prescription and said "he can just try to pull his own tooth" and walked out. Didn't even say goodbye to Trout or tell him good job for sitting through two shots in the gums and not cry, kick or scream. I highly recommend not taking your child to Shasta Family Dentistry on Churn Creek. Very upset about it! read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional office. Would not recommend them under ANY circumstances. I called and asked if they were taking new patients. I was told yes, and given an appointment for the next day. When I got to the office there was no greeting and a very unfriendly vibe. I was told they did not have any paperwork for me. Um, new patient, remember? I was starting to fill out the paperwork when a clerk approached me and started talking. Before she got very far, she was interrupted by a guy who gave me a 'talking to' about hygiene appointments only being given after a general exam, and that new patients needed to be there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I told him that I had not been informed of either of these items. He then started talking about staffing issues in a tone that suggested I was at fault for the situation. I was told later that he was the dentist's son. Needless to say I left the office. I would like to point out that no call to change the appointment type or time was made to me before I got there. Up until Dr. Wilson hired his recent Billing and Insurance person I was quite satisfied with him as a dentist. It had been about two and a half years since I saw Dr. Wilson. I made an appointment for check up and was given a date for fillings. I was advised that I needed to pay up front as an estimate $72.00. I paid before leaving and then received a statement from my insurance saying they had paid the bill in full, but disallowed $8.00. Since Dr. Wilson was in my network and they paid the entire amount He owed me the full amount of $72.00. My next visit, he filled three teeth. I was not charged at that time and was advised they would get with my insurance company GEHA and bill me. When I received the bill it indicated I owed $300.00 and stated "Your Insurance Company Has Paid It's Share Of Your Bill. This statemen is for the amount payable by you. I called my insurance company GEHA and was told the bill was incorrect. When I spoke to this Insurance EXPERT, I asked if she understood how my insurance paid. She replied, "Yes, I am quite familiar with all insurances ". Obviously she was not. I have Medical and Dental coverage. In some instances, the medical part of my insurance pays in addition to my dental. I tried to explain this to his Insurance EXPERT and she refused to listen. In this instance, both my medical and dental coverage paid. I was Never given the total amount charged and had to find out the amount from my insurance company. I next received a bill for $283.00 with the same statement Your Insurance..has paid... the balance is your share etc. Again, incorrect. The next bill was for $77.00 with the same statement. The owed me the $72.00 I paid to begin with, plus the disallowed amount of $8.38 disallowed by the insurance company in which is in their network. I had enough. I wrote up a statement myself, showing amount charged, which I was never given, amounts paid by my insurance, amount he was holding from my payment of total bill from first visit and indicating that I actually owed $39.55. I took this information, making a copy of it for Dr. Wilson. His insurance person, refused to discus the issue. Every time I tried to talk to her she held out her arm toward my face with her palm open with indication to SHUT UP. I continued to try and talk to her and asked that she call my insurance company if she needed to. Each time I got the arm out and palm held up in my face. Finally she left and went into another room and Dr. Wilson came out as asked what the problem was. I explained to him that I would be happy to pay the remainder of what I owed, but I wanted a corrected bill and gave him the copy of what was/is correct. He promised to get back to me. He did. His answer was a letter advising me that as of June 3, 2021, I would no longer be his patient. He would give my records to whomever my new dentist would be and he also sent a corrected statement. Which, by the way, did NOT include his charges for the services rendered. The bill showed a "Curtesy Discount of the remaining balance of $39.85 and a balance of $0.00. He has no worries, I would never go back to him seeing as how he has backed an ignorant employee who does not know her butt from her elbow about insurance. I have done billing for a hospital, as well as worked as a Claims Examiner for Nevada Shield. I am pretty knowledgeable on insurance. I also have NEVER treated a client in a disrespectful manner and if I had, our Directly would have had me on the carpet. read more

Great office staff! Dr. W has a good sense of humor and easy manner. We have some adjustment to do on the lower denture, but things are being done slowly to make sure the fit is correct. So far so good. Don't expect any problems. Nice people!! read more

Dr Wilson is great. I went in expecting to pay $900 for a crown after a filling and most of the tooth fell away, but he sensibly suggested I have an extraction as wisdom teeth are not used for chewing, saving me hundreds of dollars. I have gone to a couple of dentists who suggested thousands of dollars of work. Dr. Wilson calls them sales persons instead of dentists and I totally agree. I feel very fortunate to have found him as I have been relunctant to go to dentists for that reason. I also appreciate the 10 percent discount for cash or check. read more

Shawn Wilson dds is a great dentist. The office gave me a new patient appointment in one day, offered 10% discount if paid their reasonable charges in cash, no wait time in waiting room. The dentist was upfront and honest in my treatment to a chipped crown. I highly recommend Shawn Wilson dds. read more
