I had a scheduled appointment for 10 AM. I showed up at 9:55 for my appointment only to be notified that the Barber did not show up for work and that they couldn't get me in till 11AM. I really was in a time crunch and I traveled to come To this barber because of the reviews. They did not call me to cancel my appointment or reschedule instead I drove all the way there and showed up to a no-show. I thought this was highly unprofessional and at the bare minimum they could've called me and rescheduled or notified me not to make the drive. When I asked if they call their clients on canceled appointments from them, they said they don't do that. I would consider this lazy business and I will never be coming back here again nor will I ever get to experience this place due to the unprofessionalism and piss poor communication from these guys who call themselves professional barbers. read more

I had an appointment with Garay for a beard trim. This was the first time I had grown my beard out to any length and my wife had started calling me Santa Claus. Told Garay I had no idea what to do with it and he made a suggestion. He did a great job and spent a great deal of time trimming it up. Someone told me to try another place in town (starts with an "E") so I tried that first. Even though that other place only takes appointments by phone, they never called me back. So, I went to Wilson's. I walked in without an appointment and was kindly greeted by a dapper gentleman wearing a hat and suspenders. Yes, he was wearing more than just a hat and suspenders, but the hat and suspenders stood out! This gentleman stopped what he was doing, checked with other barbers in the shop, and said they could take me if I could wait about 15 minutes. Of course I can! After no more than 15 minutes, Oscar came and got me. He was friendly, well dressed, listened to what I wanted, and took care of business. In the end, I was very happy with everything. I learned that they get swamped and have difficulty getting an appointment. The barbers know what they do and take pride in how they cut your hair. My boy is happy! Eric is a great barber. He did an amazing job on my fade and left me even on top (not like other places I've been to lately).

My husband and two boys (ages 11&7) have been going here for a few months. We love it. I used to take my boys to great clips since they need haircuts so often. However, I was always regretting the outcome of their hair. So, I decided to have my husband take them with him once for family pictures to have that extra care. I was so happy with the outcome. It was only a couple dollars more than great clips and the service was 100% better. So since then, we have been coming back here. We have our favorite barber so I would suggest trying each of them out and finding the one who works best for what you're needing. Also, call ahead of time if possible. I never tried this barber shop before and wanted to try it. My wife set an appointment for 6pm with Gary. My son had one with Oscar also 6pm. We arrived at 5:53pm. We took a seat and got a free drink from them out of the fridge. My son was called to Oscars's chair at 6:15. At 6:30pm I still had yet to be called by Gary who still had someone in his chair. Someone told me Gary would be with me shortly, he's doing a skin fade. At 6:31pm I handed my son money (since they only take cash) for his haircut and went outside to my car to wait. My son finished his cut at 6:40pm and Gary still wasn't done with his cut. This barbershop didn't even bother to get me another barber or tell Gary about the time I was waiting. Went to Wilsons for the 2nd time for a long overdue haircut and had someone else cut my hair this time. I didn't get a chance to get his name but I am very displeased with not the haircut, but the bruises and cuts he left on the back of my neck. As another commenter experienced, I also ran into a round of gay bashing too. Killed the experience for me. Free beer is a plus but a six pack couldn't have ended the tension in there after his comments. Once again Oscar has managed to morph our toddler into a little man. We've only been to the barbershop twice but both times I have left feeling completely satisfied with our son's cut. Wow!!!!! Is all I can say about this place. If your looking for a full service barber shop this is "The ONE" to go to. I got a hair cut for $16 dollars, but would have paid twice as much. So I had head about Wilson's Classic Barbershop from a few people I work with and finally decided to check them out. I came in looking like a bear, messy hair and a big bushy beard. I called ahead of time to setup and appointment based on the tips that others were leaving and CASH. I was greeted as I entered and asked if I had an appointment and offered a beer from the fridge. I waited until I was called by David. I was concerned because the whole thing way new to me but I wanted to try something new. Told David that I was looking to clean up my beard and take it down some as well as a clean part upstairs with a straight shave on my neck and David did the rest. Nothing like another man holding a razor blade to your throat to make you become a statue lol. It was more nerve racking than anything but David is a pro and did an amazing job. This was back in December. I came back in today (1/10/15) to see David again and BOOM, he knocked it out of the park again. Can't say enough good things about this place or David, these guys rock and are well worth the money. read more

My husband wanted to goto a real Barber instead of a salon. He chose Wilson's. He got seated in a chair right away. It was really cool. The employees seemed to really enjoy what they do and got on well with their customers. The guy really took his time cutting my husband's hair and it shows. While I waited I watched a documentary about Henry Hill. "Goodfellas" is one of my all time favorite films and it really "fit" the overall vibe of the shop, too...minus the guns, cocaine, and "forget about its...", but who knows..I didn't go in the back room. My husband said he will definitely be going back there next time he needs a cut or trim.They are also very reasonably priced. $16 -can't argue with that. I came here because I moved and I needed a new barber close to home. My last place was awesome and maybe my expectations were too high but this place wasn't close. They're customer service was lacking. No greeting when you walk in, no music or conversation from the barbers. The last straw was I booked an appointment and arrived a few minutes early. After waiting 45 minutes past my scheduled time, I walked out. Not a single word out their staff. If you want the barbershop experience, I recommend trying somewhere else. I used to think a haircut was just a haircut... then I came to Wilson's as part of a groomsman party! It's been about 6 years now that Eric has been my barber and the environment is just so fun! Everyone is always friendly and funny and welcoming. It is also so nice to have a barber that knows how to always cut my hair.. Had one hair cut done here. Cool staff, cool atmosphere, clean fade. But as an Asian, clean fade is all you'll be satisfied with. Don't really have skill to cut the top, texture, etc. Wish I had photo from right when I left shop. So now I have to drive all the way to Riverside to get hair done by an Asian lady so that I can feel completely good about my $20+ spent. read more

I need to separate this review into two parts. My wife and I come into Redlands every now and then so she can get her hair done at a salon from a long-time friend. Her friend recommend that I try out this new barber shop next time I come out to get my hair cut since she had heard good things. I had to wait a bit, but the free beer makes that an easy task. My barber was "Tu" and he did an amazing job. Probably one of the best haircuts I have ever had and very affordable at $16. So why the 1 star? During my haircut one of the other barbers started ribbing on the other barbers in the shop. Typical for a men's barbershop and it adds to the fun atmosphere. But, those jokes quickly went into a series of anti-gay/homophobic comments. Not just one or two, he crossed the line and then kept going into what was obviously familiar territory for him. Most surprising were his comments about the gay men who work in the salons of the downtown Redlands area. I was so shocked but at the same time a captive audience as my hair was being cut. I'm still angry at myself for not saying something while there but I was in shock at the continued inappropriate behavior. Another customer made a generic comment that "you guys must have been handing out inside for too long today..." in an effort to subtly tell him things were a bit uncomfortable but the hint was not taken. After the barber was done with that topic his overall language continued to deteriorate. I can handle the language. I get that this is a "man's barbershop". But in this day and age such homophobic comments in a public business are completely unacceptable. The ignorance on this young man's part was also astounding given that he was insulting the very community he was surrounded by. Word travels fast. The other guys didn't really do much to stop it, but if I were the owner I would promptly let than guy go and that would probably solve the problem. (He also appeared to have a friend who was there taking advantage of the free beer, but maybe he was getting his hair cut later). Either way, I will never be back. It's sad because the atmosphere is great and I really enjoyed it up until this point. That guy really ruined it for me. read more

Based upon reading other Yelp reviews, and because our hairstylist is grieving the recent loss of her father, I decided to give this place a try. After I walked in, apparently unnoticed by all, it was several minutes before someone offered me a drink. I asked for a bottle of water, and got a small plastic glass of tap water. Having lived in Redlands for over thirty years, I stopped drinking their tap water years ago - you'll know what I mean the first time you drink it! Anyway, in a short time a barber asked to help me. I asked him to give me a light trim and genetal cleanup. While sitting in his chair I noticed the decor and pictures of the place. One that caught my eye was of some servicemen getting their "blitz" haircuts. Well, despite what I ordered, that's what I got. My hair hasn't looked tthis bad in years! If you want to tryu this place, do so at your own peril. I will not go back. read more

EDIT: I was mean, so I changed it to 3.5 stars. if you want to know what ticked me, just go to the bottom. This place is hit and miss for me. It's like back-and-forth. I'll have a great experience there one time, then the next time I go a couple months later it sucks. Sometimes they're a 5 and sometimes they're a 1.5. Sometimes they say "hi" when you walk in, sometimes they don't and you stand there looking like an idiot for 10 seconds. Sometimes they offer you a drink/soda to go ahead and grab from the fridge. Sometimes they don't offer, then you sit down and the next 3 people that walk in get offered something. Sometimes the barber will know exactly what you want and you go home with a fantastic haircut. Sometimes the barber doesn't take enough time to make sure they know what you want and you end up with a high "undercut" you weren't expecting. Furthermore, I told him that I would like to see the length after the initial cut to see if I wanted to cut off more. Nope. Never asked. He just started putting hair product in my hair and took off my cape. All of a sudden, I was done. Sometimes the barbers take their time. Sometimes when they cut your hair, it seems like they just want to take their break. Sometimes you get the massager thing on your neck post-cut and then will use a single-bladed razor to shave the back of your neck. Sometimes the barber just says you're done. Okay you get the point, they aren't consistent. THE BIGGEST SHIT IN THE FACE: I had my barber literally say this in front of me to the barber next to him. "If you want me to cut your hair you should come to me like before 12 so that I'm fresh. I don't cut that good later on during the day." It was 3 fucking PM. I should have left right after that. Don't mention how you aren't going to give me your best, young barber. read more
