This is a nice diner with quick service and friendly waitstaff. Prices are very reasonable and have a good kids menu. Salad bar and soups are always available along with PIES galore. If you're at Burt Lake State Park camping, it's an easy walk. Plus the Starbucks is right down the street if you need a little caffeine boost. Parking is bountiful, even if you've got a trailer or RV. Plus there's access to a small river side board walk which is fun for kids and pleasant for adults. read more

Food was very good but the lack of respect for the national pandemic was extremely alarming. There was a man in the lobby not wearing a mask and the hostess said it "didn't matter" even though it is literally a government mandated law. Our waitress was very short with us and rude, but that isn't even the worst part. She was wearing a MESH mask!!! Plenty of elderly people who are prone to sickness come here and the total disregard for a literal PANDEMIC was absolutely appalling. Maybe law enforcement should get involved at this point, because I see others in the reviews who are concerned about this as well. read more

Wonderful little restaurant. We came here on our honeymoon seven years ago, and everything was just as amazing.

We stopped here for breakfast on our last day in town- I was pretty disappointed. My fiancé and I split the "Stuffed Hash Browns' and the "Nutty Camper French Toast.' The stuffed hash browns are literally just hash browns with potatoes, onions, cheese, and sour cream on top- nothing else. The french toast I thought was pretty good, but my fiancé was indifferent to it. Our two-year-old son had a kids meal with eggs, hash browns, and toast. He didn't eat much of it, but it looked okay to me. Something that I feel like would have made the experience better is good service. I think good service (especially first thing in the morning) can really make a difference, but our waitress just seemed indifferent to us. She wasn't mean, but she just really didn't seem like she cared about our experience and as a former server that really puts me off. The prices are low, but so is the quality so that makes sense. The last thing I noticed was that they have their customers pay for their fees to run a credit card- it was posted on the door that they do that so at least they are warning people- but I have never before experienced a restaurant that does that.. just seemed weird to me, but whatever. read more

The food was absolutely amazing and home made!!! Our table had the hot roast beef sandwich, pulled pork haystack sandwich and the chicken sandwich and all were EXCELLENT!!! The kitchen was quick and efficient and are the true stars of this restaurant. I would have given 5 stars but the service was terrible! We had to get our own silverware and napkins and we were never checked on while eating. Despite that it is absolutely worth a stop! read more

We stopped here on our way home from Petoskey. I was a little leery because of some of the bad reviews here, but we had great food and great service! My son got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were bigger than my head! I got the Rivers Edge Special, very tasty. Service was great and we got our food pretty fast. Also, one of the servers gave my boys some quarters to get some treats from the candy machines and then she refused to let me pay her back for them. Upon entering there was candy and toothpicks all over the floor. When we were sitting down two of four chairs had ripped plastic with foam coming out, on the seats which can ruin clothing. The place is not very clean, yet the staff were often seen standing around. However, the food was very good. We were there for over an hour, and it was not busy, yet the candy and toothpicks were still all over the entrance near the cash registers. Even though the food was good, seeing how unkempt and dirty the restaurant looked made us concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen. It may be clean but the dining area would indicate it wouldn't be clean. read more

UGH This sucks! The first time we came here we were so happy with our meal. But we were recently back up north and decided to return for breakfast and the experience sucked so bad that we just got up and left and went across the street to Subway. We got there and my husband tried to put our name in with a request for the patio. The hostess was clearly really flustered or something because she kept shutting my husband down and ignoring him. It was odd. You'd think she'd want to fill tables with paying customers. I dunno. He had to practically beg to put our names in. Like they were doing us a big favor. She told us it would be a half hour or so wait. About a half hour later my husband asked about our status and again she was irritated to be dealing with a customer. Super odd. She said we could get seated on the patio and had someone walk us out there to a table. We were excited to finally be sitting because we pretty much already knew what we wanted to eat. However no waiter or waitress ever came out. We sat there for close to 20 minutes. None of the tables on the patio seemed to be getting any attention. Everyone had a glass of water with melted ice cubes but that's it. My husband, typically the calm one, was ready to scream he was so annoyed. After 20 minutes we decided to just give up as we had other things to do with our day. We had already been at this place for almost an hour and all we had to show for it was a glass of water. We got up and left and went across the street to Subway. Totally won't be back next time we are in town! read more

Ate at this restaurant for the first time. We went on a color tour and a trip to the Cross in the Woods. There was 9 of us all together and they made room for us to set altogether . We stopped here on our way back down from Mackinac. It's a nice little place, clean, and staff was quick and friendly. My friend had the club and when I say it was huge, I'm not kidding. Went to Wilson's for breakfast when they sat us at a table it had food all over it and I just watched the waitress wash so I asked the waitress for napkins so I could wipe the table and coffee, she wiped the table and gave us coffee and silverware that was rapped in a napkins when we opened our napkins the silverware had dried egg on them so we asked for clean silverware after that she disappeared for about 15minutes when we were ready to order when we got our coffee so while we were waiting I had three flies buzzing our table and landing on my cup so we finally had enough so when we went to pay for our coffee and asked to talk to the manager they told us our waitress was the manager so we asked to talk to the owner the whole staff started to get nasty and followed us to the parking lot where they gave us the finger and never come back oh yea the parking lot had other customers seeing all of this, makes me wonder how many left. I live here and to see this behavior in our town makes me feel ashamed. After all that everyone has gone through we now have to be treated like this,we deserve better! As I was reading the reviews maybe I have been wrong about telling my friends and family that this is a good place to eat ,I'll tell people now there's other places in town that doesn't treat there customers nasty and the food you get isn't on the table or silverware before you eat, anyway don't judge the north by these few bad apples we have a lot to offer and there are plenty of places that will treat you like family! read more

Unlike some bitter reviewer here, we do live in a big city with plenty of 4 and 5 star dining - we know good food. We also know GREAT staff. And Wilson's has BOTH. Okay, maybe not 5-star food, but it is a great place to eat. We have been eating there for over 20 YEARS!!! It is excellent, reliable and all the girls are great (Lacey is our favorite!). It is one of our 2 favorite places in Indian River to eat (+ Inn Between). The place to avoid at all costs is the Brass Rail - at - all - costs!! The service was terrible. Server did not provide or even ask for drinks when we were seated. It took several rounds of asking for side salads to be brought out. When we finally received our food, there were hairs in the salads and in the baked potato. Lastly, the toilets and sinks in the restrooms did not work. read more

I'm hoping it was a bad night. We were driving through and stopped for dinner. The servers seemed rushed off their feet. Every piece of silver and glass at my place setting was dirty. The coffee cup had red lipstick on the rim, not a smudge, a full lip! My dinner was wrong, when sent back it was slap-dash remove the wrong part and slap the sandwich back together. We stopped by Wilson's on our way home from the U.P and it was the best food we had our whole week. We had to wait a little for seating (10 min) on a Sunday at 12pm, but it was great. THe kids meals were filling, my other daughter got the sliders..tender and juicy. My daughter and I got the club on sourdough..huge and yummy, with real sliced ham and turkey..no pressed meat here. It's been a long time since we had service this poor especially from a "seasoned" waitress. She never checked in and even after we requested she visit the table to inform her of missing ingredients in our meals, she sent another waitress to check on us. Finally when she did visit our table there were no apologies for the error. She only visited to drop off the check. We were overcharged for a meal but again, sent a different waitress to explain the situation rather than discuss this with us. Sadly, the service wasn't the only poor part of our experience. The food taste was average, at best & the prices were very high for a run down family restaurant. $60 for two adults and 4 kids eating smaller, cheaper meal options. Was looking forward to a home cooked meal but this was definitely not the right place. read more
